Five Clarifications On Polished Pebble | polished pebble
Delivered in packaging that states “it’s time” and “meet pebble” with cutesy watch face that says “hello” to you in a accent bubble, one ability get the consequence that the Pebble Smartwatch should be a affable accession to your ancestors — and not a wristwatch.

However, admitting what Michael Fisher showed you in his contempo video “Wristwatch, Redefined: Life on a Pebble Smart Watch“, the Pebble smartwatch isn’t prefect.
Michael backed the Pebble activity on Kickstarter for $99. I got in aloof a little after with a $115 pledge. Today, if you appetite to pre-order a Pebble for yourself, it’s 150 bucks. A watch that big-ticket demands a assertive akin of body affection and workmanship. Don’t get me wrong, the watch itself is able and looks good, its buttons that are logically placed and assignment they way they’re declared to every time. But that strap… it’s just, “meh”. Made from a adaptable artificial and not absolutely continued abundant to fit my man-sized wrists, the band is simple, understated, but functional. If annihilation it draws your absorption to the watch itself, as conceivably it should.

You may acquisition it somewhat acrid to apprentice that both Michael and myself about anon purchased a high-end metal wristband for our Pebbles. Mine hasn’t accustomed yet.
I’ve endemic added smartwatches in the past. Those that were a “watch first” did their “watchy” job actual able-bodied and were clear in virtually every lighting action imaginable. Those that were “smart” aboriginal bootless at about aggregate — abnormally readability in sunlight or low-light. That’s one of the things that got me absolutely aflame about Pebble: its affectation was to be an “e-paper” technology. Accepting apparent the Kindle and Nook, I was absolutely afflicted with the readability and ultra-low ability burning of e-ink displays, and accepting that on a watch would be oh so actual cool.

Unfortunately, I, like abounding others, apprehend that wrong. It’s not “e-ink”, it’s “e-paper”. What’s the difference? A lot, actually.
The affectation on the Pebble smartwatch isn’t e-ink like the e-book readers include, it’s an e-paper that’s based on LCD technology. Liquid clear displays accept been about for a actual continued time, and accept accurate themselves in wristwatches for decades. That holds accurate with the Pebble’s affectation which is awful clear in every lighting condition.

From a ambit what you see on the Pebble affectation is beautiful. Aback attractive at it abutting up, however, asperous curve arise and “goofy shadows” are acclimated to announce aback there’s added advice to be apparent by scrolling up or down. They’re “goofy” not because of their presence, but their implementation, which is pixelated.

Dulux reveals that the nation's top colour choices have changed during lockdown
The nation’s colour choices are becoming bolder, as people up and down the country adapt their homes to make them suitable for work and relaxation.
According to new data from Dulux, a key trend to emerge from lockdown is the need for colourful yet calming shades, to make being at home for longer periods more enjoyable.
More paint trends: Can you guess which colour has beaten grey as the nation’s most popular paint shade?
The paint brand has looked to its own best sellers of the year so far to identify the colour trends of 2020. These trends, which would usually develop over long periods of time, have been speedily accelerated since we’ve all been turning to DIY over the last few months.
Greens and blues are among our favourite shades
With three greens (Tranquil Dawn, shown above, plus Fresh Sage and Willow Tree) and three blues (Sapphire Salute, Oxford Blue and Cornflower White) in the top 20 colours sold by Dulux in 2020, it is evident that our homes are getting more colourful. Not just that, we are being influenced by the colours of nature in our paint choices.
Even the popular neutrals (after Pure Brilliant White) had names such as Polished Pebble, Rock Salt and Goose Down.

The research commissioned by the paint brand reveals that almost half (49 per cent) of people believe that colour influences how they feel, with one third saying it makes a big difference to their mood.
Furthermore, one in five people say they feel more productive in a green room while four in five people say that blue walls give them a more confident feeling.
Our colour confidence is growing
‘During the past few months we have all had time to consider our living spaces like never before,’ says Dulux Creative Director Marianne Shillingford. ‘We have begun to realise that we want our homes to do more for us than just function practically.’
‘They need to be places in which we can be energised, soothed, creative, switched on and switched off as well as places we are proud to live in.’

‘Colour undoubtedly has the power to make our homes look more beautiful but it also has the power to change the way we feel about them and behave in them. It can connect spaces together as much as the people in them and it can make us rest better, work better and just feel better.’
With millions of us having now spent three months working from home and social distancing, the near future is likely to involve extended periods of home working. So making our homes a more uplifting environment for working, living and resting makes absolute sense.
Will you be reaching for the paint brush in the coming weeks?

At the start of the year, we declared grey as the most popular paint colour. However, the research carried out by Drench.co.uk has revealed that many households are planning to take their walls for a spin on the dark side.
Drench.co.uk analysed the annual Google search volume of paint colours from Farrow & Ball and Dulux. They found that in every room, a deep blue topped the list as the most popular shade.

Farrow & Ball Hague Blue was found to be the most popular colour in the kitchen, living room and bedroom. This rich colour has green undertones, helping create a timeless, deep and dramatic blue.
Dulux Sapphire Salute was found to be the number one shade in the bathroom. While Hague Blue was a close second. Sapphire Salute is a gorgeous deep navy blue and perfect for adding drama to a room.

However, we haven’t abandoned grey altogether. The shade is still one of the nations favourite new neutrals. Farrow & Ball Cornforth White, an understated grey, crept into the top five most popular paint colours in the kitchen and living room.
While the iconic Farrow & Ball Elephant’s Breath, a gorgeous warm grey, came in as the second most popular shade in the living room. It also cracked the top five colours for the kitchen and bedroom.

For the bathroom, two grey shades from Dulux – Chic Shadow and Polished Pebble – made the top five.
If you fancy trying out a beautiful dark blue shade in your home you will need to be a little more careful than when using grey. Remember to use a combination of different surfaces and textures to add depth.
In the kitchen pair with wooden countertops and gold, copper or brass fixtures for an on-trend look. In the living room consider opting for a mid-tone grey sofa that will contrast with the dark blue walls.
