When I was house hunting years ago, before I moved into Longfeather Lane, I had set my parameters for search at “under 80k with at least 5 acres of land” which, as you can imagine, took me to some very interesting places, many of which were in BAD repair.

This though, this one took the cake. We walked through the house which I, regrettably, did not take photos of, as the entire inside had been graffitied repeatedly. We walked the grounds, and found several horse graves in the middle of the woods. And then we went into the garage/polebarn, and found.... this.

That’s rebar fencing, with a sliding door that opens to the outside, and if I recall correctly, the board to the left could be slid out. Nothing else could be removed, so it wasn’t for, like, storing paint cans or tools or something, and the bars were spaced far enough apart that unless a dog was Very Big, it could probably have fit through it. You know what could not fit through the bars? a human. And it was more than big enough to fit several humans in it.

A few years later, a friend of mine from work invited me to come see her new house, and I drove out and I got this weird feeling as I was turning down the roads following the GPS and it wasn’t until after I left her house and went a little farther down her road that I realized the house at the end of her street was this one.

So that’s fun.

It's not all that pretty,, but the thick R19 vinyl backed insulation rolls we use on some of our projects are sure to seal up the wall cavities great and keep a post frame building tempurature controlled year round! Lake Village house walls are about done and then we will be back to layer the ceilings with R38 blown in cellulose. Spray foam looks cleaner and is more interesting to watch go up, but this method is much easier to work around later on and does a great job to boot! Blake’s land is so big, they’re building the new house, and it will be a lot harder for paparazzi to invade on their day, it just makes sense that’s where they’d get married. They’re rich and can find ways to get all their guests there. Maybe they will have a smaller ceremony in OK and then they can have a party in LA for people who couldn’t make it or weren’t on the narrowed-down list.
