I feel like I did not put much effort into Yusei like Crow and Jack. My original idea was for him to have a Technician team, but none of the mons fit him. So I went with plan B: having his team focus on weak moves. Most of his mons moves are power 60 or below.

idk who plays pokemon here, so i'll tag @i-can-even-burn-salad, @ceph-the-ghost-writer, @starlit-hopes-and-dreams, @oh-no-another-idea, @owlsandwich, and everyone who wants to do this. find the team-builder here

i'll do this for the main characters of my Untitled Cyberwitch WIP (plus a bonus one bc i can't help myself):

V Hyun

Appearances are important to V, so it's crucial for their team to mesh with their punk/goth styling. However, the mohawks and spikes belie movesets carefully chosen to cover their team's weaknesses. They spent ages putting together and perfecting their team's strategy, but will never admit to it. Toxtricity is their partner Pokemon.

Julian Quintana Benoit

Jules's team's first line of defense is intimidation. The prevalence of wings, cloaks, and scythes in his team's designs points to his tendency to obscure himself and keep others at arms' length (making both him and his team less effective at defending the people he cares about). The exception is his partner Pokemon, Smeargle, who cannot (and does not) battle.

Jacqueline Vidal

Jacqui's affinity for crystals carries over into her Pokemon team; all of her Pokemon except for her partner, Salazzle, have crystals incorporated in their designs. She approaches battles the way she approaches all her problems: with the goal of ending it as quickly as possible. Anything she can't handle with brute force is subjected to Salazzle's poison.

Sun motif, but lunala for his moon, and fire kitty because he'd definitely pick him, chandelure on account of my man can't stop noticing pretty lights, the shiny gallade we're saying he and Lucient farmed together (hence Lucient having gardevoir) and the sharpedo is just very important (and probably earned him many weary sighs).

Lucient's lunar elegance;

Moon motif, with solgaleo for his sun, shiny gardevoir because elegance and swordplay is important, you tell me this man wouldn't pick the starter that becomes a pretty merman (do it, I dare you), froslass is ice cold and deadly I have no more words there, honedge is a sword my friends (Lucient would giggle hysterically at the sight of it).

Rules: list what would be your OCs' Pokemon teams.

I spent way too much time digging into strategy, until I decided that Anthea and Gullin would be better than me at it anyway. This team builder was linked, but I found the UI very clunky, so I just looked them up on Bulbapedia and used the team builder to generate the pictures.

Lissan

Spheal, pidgeotto, bulbasaur, poochyena, mareep, wigglytuff

All of Lissan's pokemon are friend-shaped. He also gets very attached to them very quickly so these are pretty much the first pokemon he caught, and he'd never consider releasing them. He probably avoids fights, and treats them as pets.

Ianim

Wyrdeer, espeon, Galarian rapidash, chansey, altaria, cobalion

He composed this team by vibes and appearance first of all; he isn't a big fan of competitive activities, so they don't see many fights. And yes, he rides the rapidash.

Gullin

Gyarados, blaziken, beedril, tyranitar, golem, absol

He takes the training very seriously and takes good care of his team. They aren't the fanciest pokemon out there, but he's willing to upgrade when the opportunity arises. Anthea and Erya are insanely envious of his absol.

Varré

Venusaur, blastoise, charizard, snorlax, dragonite, steelix

They're too old and done with it to keep up with the newest strategies and adjust their team all the time. They stuck with these six for a long time, it's a solid team, which they make work well together. The venusaur is their pride and joy. The snorlax was a gift/trade from Erya, as a joke, but they kept it out of sentimentality.

Anthea

Glastrier, lugia, giratina, ditto, mega gyarados, dialga

She's poured a lot of resources into assembling this team, and has quite a few backup pokemon, which she switches to depending on what her opponent is likely to use - she'd probably do some research into their strategy before any duel. She has also perfected a combination of moves and items that ensures her victory. And yes, she rides the glastrier.

Erya

Brambleghast, alakazam, gengar, seviper, darkrai, weezing

She doesn't have much time to spare on pokemon, but she does keep a team just in case. She caught most of them herself - hence they're primarily urban pokemon.

This team builder was linked, but I hate it, so I took a look at this one instead, and a damn national pokedex list, because fuck regional dex, yo.

As far as I am concerned, Gen 7 was the last Gen that existed.

I'm not a huge fan of making teams meant to win over teams that are fun, which is why I suck so much in most hacks. For this one, I mostly like the "what would they be living with" approach, and few of my characters would have what it takes to be a gym leader (or even ace trainer - despite half of them being ace 🤣)

So let's go with the cast from Sweet Little Lies.

Aurelia: Definitely an ice type trainer

She wouldn't be a trainer to fight, she'd just live with her mons. I'm sure some people would insist she should get some to help her with things, but she's doing fine, thank you very much.

Alolan Vulpix (for the partnerlook with Laurent, she'd find that so cute, he even more so)

Glaceon (as a kitty)

Vanillite (great candy shop mascot)

Delibird (for deliveries)

Laurent: Definitely a fire type trainer

He also wouldn't be a trainer to fight, but he would have at least one strong mon to defend himself. Should a situation arise where he would have to fight more, he'd expand the team to cover some weaknesses *cough water cough*

Cedric: Most definitely a ground/rock type trainer

He wouldn't be a gym leader because he does not want to deal with that shit (Can you imagine? All the 10 yo kids trying to challenge him? Poor guy.) but he would have a strong team with carefully selected moves and a strategy or two. He's also the only one running a full team.

They wouldn't be a big fan of fights, and usually walk around with Zorua, which would take the shape of other cute little pokemon - Vulpix, Eevee, Oddish, Marill.

Challenge them and you will find that Espeon and Umbreon are definitely EV trained with a swipe and tank build.

In celebration of finishing the edits for Mechanics, I really want to do Aiden's team. I never talk about my villain much, so this should be fun :D

I don't yet have a good character sketch of Aiden, but he's the 25 year old only child of Vailberg's Arch Canlaw - a young, charismatic, and handsome entrepreneur. He also looks quite like a younger version of his uncle, with rich mahogany hair and blue eyes. I guess he's next on the list to draw.

Since this is Aiden, there are spoilers below, so beware!

Of course his starter had to be the wand-wielding Delphox. Aiden is the source of the mysterious wands that have been popping up around Ardveld - destructive weapons of undirected magic. As the handsome son of the Arch Canlaw of Vailberg, Aiden has wealth and power and connections. The only thing he can't buy is natural born magical ability - something he's determined to change.

His second Pokemon is Unown, to represent the ancient Ardveldian symbols that he has been studying, and which have been the key to his experiments.

Solrok is for Sunstone Enterprises, the company that Aiden founded. This in turn is named for his surname - Heliodor, meaning 'gift from the sun' and the yellow beryl gemstone that shares the name.

The dark type, Liepard, is an elegant and beautiful Pokemon, prized for its gorgeous fur. In fact, it is moody and vicious, sneaking up on its prey and striking them from behind. If this doesn't say enough about Aiden, its silent footsteps are also a reference to how Aiden's lack of magic means that his presence is undetectable by the mage-sense through which magic users can feel each other.

Aiden would often be seen with a male Pyroar - a mane like the sun, clearly showing him as the leader of the pride. It is often known as the Royal Pokémon, and Aiden does like to self-style as a Prince.

Not many people know about Aiden's Dusclops; it's a side he prefers to keep out of the limelight. If you dare to peer into its hollow body, you may have your spirit stolen away...

Crow’s Pokémon team.

Please note that I am taking into account egg moves, tutor moves, and TM/TR moves when making move sets (I am ignoring Legends Arceus moves). Nothing is off the table, I don’t really care about competitive rules for the most part. Movesets will be influenced by my personal preferences. (Ex: I hate recoil moves so they will be ignored). I am going to consider hidden abilities too. I am not going to consider held items for the most part since my knowledge on them are limited to Leftovers only. Same with natures, I am not knowledgeable on that.

Corviknight (Flying/Steel)

Ability: Mirror Armor

Moveset: Hone Claws, Roost, Steel Wing, Drill Peck.

Extra: Corviknight helps Crow the most with his Blackbird Delivery service. This is the mon that typically goes second after his other mons to gain the Baton Pass effects.

Drifblim (Ghost/Flying)

Ability: Aftermath

Moveset: Minimize, Stockpile, Baton Pass, Protect

Extra: Crow caught this Drifblim as a Drifloon when it was trying to kidnap a child. He knows the stories about this Pokémon and is not a fan of them. He is happy that it helps with his delivery job.

Togekiss (Fairy/Flying)

Ability: Serene Grace

Item: King Rock

Moveset: Air Slash, Ancient Power, Double Team, Baton Pass

Extra: This is one of his strongest mons but it also hates fighting. It mostly stays behind and watches the kids.

Honchkrow (Dark/Flying)

Ability: Super Luck

Moveset: Night Slash, Air Cutter, Sucker Punch, Acrobatics

Extra: Crow met this birdie as a Murkrow during one of his stings against Sector Security. Ever since, it just kind of hung around with Crow.

Oricorio (Pom-Pom - Electric/Flying)

Ability: Dancer

Moveset: Revelation Dance, Quiver Dance, Air Slash, Baton Pass

Extra: Crow found this Pokémon as an egg. Usually stays with the kids and cheers from the sidelines. Having an electric type in Satellite is a huge boon.

Maushold (Normal - Family of four)

Ability: Technician

Moveset: Population Bomb, Tidy Up, Aerial Ace, Baton Pass

Extra: Stays behind with the kids. If it wasn’t for Maushold, the garage would be a mess. Of course I would give Crow the family Pokémon.

Happiny (Normal)

Ability: Fiend Guard

Moveset: Heal Bell, Hyper Voice, Protect, Seismic Toss

Extra: Yes, this is a level 100 Happiny. It is comedically strong has insane physical strength. Loves playing with the kids.

I tried giving as many Pokémon Baton Pass to emulate the Blackwings ability to special summon themselves on the field when another Blackwing is present.

Oricorio, Maushold, and Happiny are not a part of the main team. These three stayed behind in Satellite with Martha and the kids. Though Oricorio flies over to Neo Domino to visit, trading places with Togekiss.

Crow tends to keep his Pokémon out of their pokeballs. When he moves to Neo Domino he has to keep his bigger mons in pokeballs at all time due to rules. Only exception is on private property or if Corviknight and Drifblim is helping him with work.

Crow could work at a pokemon daycare. He would be good with baby pokemon much to everyone’s surprise.
