Lily hovered in the door of their common room, working up the nerve to take Remus's advice. Just talk to him. It wasn't that difficult. So, why then did it feel impossible to take that step over the threshold?

Stepping inside, Lily's eyes immediately fell to James, clearing her throat to announce her presence. "Hi -" Her lips lifted into a gentle smile as she placed her bag away. "I - Could I talk to you for a moment? If you don't mind."

It was just a regular trip to Hogsmeade. It was no big deal...even if it happened to be Valentine's day of all days. For Lily, this was just a day she was spending with friends--- the Marauders. The village was just as decorated as Hogwarts Castle was with hearts and couples roaming around, giving chocolate's and flowers to each other, but she tried to pay it no mind, even if she suddenly found the others had disappeared and she landed alone with James Potter.

"I think we've lost the others. We should go check Honeyduke's first and then Madam Puddifoot's!" Lily stated, pulling him along with her before it finally registered to her. Wait...when had she grabbed Potter's hand?

Green eyes blinked, looking at her hand, interlocked with his own, before hurrying to let go. Lily cleared her throat, but could feel her cheeks were warm. "It was nothing. Don't get the wrong idea....please tell me you aren't considering this as a date?"

Lily smiles back before leaning in for the kiss. This is something she can happily agree to. Her heart is full of nothing but love for him and she will continue to give him all her love forever more. Pulling back from the kiss, the smile is still plastered on her face. "I suppose that was us sealing the deal with a kiss?! I can't argue with that. 50 points to Gryffindor for outstanding nerve. Now, I'm wondering if we can put that love into making some Gingerbread cookies?"

James smiles, his eyes squinting slightly when she pulls his glasses off -- the world around him mostly blurry but still able to focus in on the redhead in front of him. He reaches over to curl some of her auburn locks behind her ear, a low chuckle falling past his lips. "Mm, by showing each other just how much we love each other." His finger curls under her chin and brings her close, pulling her in for a kiss.

the  war  rages  around  them  ,  but  sirius  black  is  invincible  ,  unbreakable  as  the  man  beside  him  .  there  is  a  sense  of  urgency  as  the  two  move  through  the  sewers  though  his  body  language  is  as  it  always  seems  to  be  ;  incredibly  relaxed  despite  the  dire  circumstances  .  anything  is  better  than  what  he’s  left  behind  ,  and  with  james  by  his  side  it  feels  impossible  to  lose  .  perhaps  it  is  denial  ,  for  war  is  a  killer  he  has  yet  to  be  touched  by  —  though  they  fight  on  the  winning  side  ,  the  side  for  heroes  overcompensating  for  a  family  he  is  still  so  deeply  ashamed  of  .

walking  in  silence  for  some  time  ,  sirius  glances  towards  his  friend  ,  undeterred  by  the  less  than  desirable  surroundings  or  the  stench  that  comes  with  it  .  this  is  how  it  is  supposed  to  be  ;  sirius  black  and  james  potter  side  by  side  and  wands  in  hand  ,  ready  for  what  awaits  them  at  the  end  of  all  this  .  “  seriously  prongs  ,  the  smell  down  here  is  a  huge  improvement  on  your  flat  ,  ”  he  teases  ,  grey  eyes  glimmering  in  the  dimness  .  “  you  must  feel  right  at  home  !  ”

the last time... sirius can't help but laugh. “ the last time we attempted a polyjuice without remus... we almost died, but the great news is : we didn't. ” wrong ingredients, wrong timings, everything went wrong — and were almost caught by mcgonagall. “ we won't be caught this time. we have moony with us AND mcgonagall will be away too, as far as i was told. c'mon! aren't you curious? ”

It'd been one of those weeks. Lily felt stretched thin. She'd barely eaten because she'd spent so much time in the library, studying. She'd missed the Hogsmeade trip because she'd received a particularly nasty letter from Petunia and hadn't felt up to going. Then, earlier that day, she'd tripped in front of Severus and his new, horrible, friends and had to endure the laughter and pointed remarks. It was then that James had found her, curled up on the sofa, holding back tears from the stress and she had to admit, his presence brought a comfort that she couldn't fully explain.

Eyes looked up at him, hand coming to rub the tears away before she reached for his hand, silently directing it to her hip as she pulled him down into a kiss. Her fingers slid up along his neck, leg hooking around his waist. "I need you." She breathed softly against his lips. She was tired of fighting it. Tired of pretending like she didn't have feelings for him. For once, Lily just wanted things to be simple. She just wanted him.

Lily blinked sleepily, yawning as she moved towards the shared bathroom in their quarters. Hand came up to rub at her eyes, her towel tucked under her arm. She was in desperate need of a shower to wake herself up - It'd been a late night of studying, meaning she was feeling the impact of it. Pushing open the door to the bathroom she stepped inside, halfway into the room and practically barging into a very naked James before she realised what was happening.

"Oh my -" A little gasp of shock left her, towel dropping from her hand and flush immediately blossoming up along her neck. "Merlin - I'm -" Eyes dropped before lifting again, Lily realising she was staring. She turned, embarrassed. "I'm so sorry - I didn't know you were in here."

Lily couldn't help but lightly smack her husband on his arm for bringing up such a grim topic, even if she knew it was sarcastically. She couldn't bare the thought of anything happening to Harry, let alone him being left all alone in the world without them, but she knew James felt the same too. Watching as he took their son into his arms, her heart swelled with warmth and love, watching her boys interacting with each other. The mother started to let out a chuckle once Harry started going for James' glasses. She would do anything to protect them, even if the cost would be her own life.

Once he sat down, holding Harry and reaching out his hand for her, Lily couldn't help but be drawn in like a magnet, sitting next to her husband, but also welcoming the closeness and security his presence provided her. Green eyes stare at their son before letting out a sigh. "It's been a long day. Between keeping an eye on this little one and trying to not go crazy with all the immaculate cleaning I've been doing, which makes me fear I may have picked up from my sister, you'll be glad to know I've saved the cat-- again." She pauses, a small smile on her face. "Harry was playing around on that toy broomstick Padfoot got him, looking like the spit image of you. It makes me wonder if he will take after you in playing Quidditch. What do you think? Would he be a Chaser or a Seeker?"

“This is truly testing out how much you love me. Hopefully it doesn’t end with divorce.”

Despite how exhausting the day was, he couldn’t help but smile at the way Lily and Harry interacted. With how dark and gloomy everything around them was, it was a surprise how something so small could almost out shine the darkness that surrounded him. He couldn’t help but watch as they moved toward him, leaning down to untie his shoes and tossing them toward the front door and magicking them so they would line nicely with the rest of them. He met her half-way, and he couldn’t help but let out a sigh at her questioning.

“If something happens to us, Sirius is Harry’a godfather — and if something happened to him and something still happened to us…Harry would be orphaned.” As he spoke of their son, his arms reached out to gently take Harry from him — and despite the grim things he spoke of, he smiled at the giggle that came from their son. He took a moment to pepper kisses across Harry’s face as he sat down on the sofa, his smile growing as Harry giggled even louder. His face wrinkled as Harry grabbed his glasses and yanked them off of his face — and he allowed for him to mess with them as he focused on Lily with squinted eyes. “Remus has enough on his plate with the full moon…and no one would suspect Pete. Pads pointed out that the obvious choices were him and Albus. Pete hasn’t done anything to make me think that he’d do anything

He carefully sat Harry on his lap and let his small hand wrap around his fingers to help balance him while his free hand reached out for Lily. His expression faltered — the adoration for his family still there, but a slight somberness overtook his expression as he looked up at the woman he loved. The part of him that wanted to continue to sit and plan and figure things out was fighting with the part of him that wanted to just sit and enjoy the time they had together — in the off chance that something happened. The moment was brief and a smile soon returned to his face.

“Enough about that. Tell me about your day and everything I missed.”

the kiss

you typically wait until the last second to believe the truth--because it would destroy you to believe it, and then find out it was a lie. you are someone who has never wanted to want, but has rarely been able to do anything else. the idea that you might have to break down your walls for the sake of someone else, someone who could easily decide they don't like what is on the other side, is harrowing. why let people get close enough to be rejected? you are enough for yourself. and you will tell yourself that every time you catch yourself staring at their mouth, smirking at their joke, finding a reason to flick their shoulder. until the kiss. that's when the flood of want, want, want bowls over you and you realize that you are torn between two ways of living. Oh, you think. because despite how complicated you have made it, the moment you kiss, somehow, things seem incredibly simple. they won't be once you start thinking again, but for now, for this moment, you live in the quiet peace of revelation. Oh.

"hm yeah, I think she would" Lily agreed, giving a soft laugh. Lily kept him close, the way his hands cupped her face it was as if all troubles melted away, at least artificially and perhaps for a moment or two. "I know, I know.. it's probably for the best.. it just feels strange for her not to be there but our worlds became different the moment I had magic" Lily admitted, bright green hues glancing toward James, her smile only going brighter.

"Four months and I will be your wife.. perhaps a child and family of our own at some point too" There was that excitement again, a kiss placed upon his lips. "Sirius will be a great best man, though I worry at his best man speech.. for you anyway" oh she was sure that man had stories up his sleeve of James when they were at Hogwarts, stories that not even Lily knew. Eyes went to the time, it was late..

"I should head to sleep.. we should sleep.." Her eyes glanced back to the book he had been reading previously. "We can worry in the morning, when we have both had some sleep.. " A tired mind was after all a foggy mind. "Although that would mean moving away from your arms.. you might have to carry me?"

Lily had of course sent invites to Petunia, although her sister didn't want anything to do with her freak of a sister. Their relationship had always been estranged since she had magical abilities, jealousy Lily always gathered yet an invitation she had given anyway. Though Lily wanted her sister to be there she understood that it wasn't going to be the case. As lips placed against hers again it brought her out of her brief thoughts, her hands stroking his dark hair, fingers running through the mop. It needed a trim she thought to herself.

"Erhmm, four months I believe now" Lily responded to the question, truth be told she just wanted to get married to him, that four months felt like too long of a wait. "I just want to get married to you now" Lily admitted, "The thought of having to wait another four months. I just want to be your wife!" Lily explained, "Have we had all the invites back yet? I assume Sirius and Remus have replied?" Of course she expected them to be one of the first to reply to their invitations.

"Petunia hasn't responded to me, I doubt she will.. she has never wanted anything to do with me but I thought I'd invite her anyway, she is my sister after all. Mum and Dad are coming though, they replied virtually straight away" The redhead mused, here she was worrying again, trying to figure out the logistics in her head, and as she did a soft frown formed on her features.
