hi guys!! i’m not going to lie, but this is probably going to be a lazy intro just bc it’s been a while since i last roleplayed and i haven’t fully gotten back into the groove of writing, but i’ll still try my best. anyway, for starters, i go by fox, i’m 23 yo, and my timezone is est. for quick facts, i’m interested in food, disney, dogs and cats, video games, and just being a potato basically. and now, here’s my introduction for my 2 babies: violet de luca and harlow chambers! i might have more ideas later on, but so far, i’m satisfied with what i have down.

[ ━ marilyn lima. cisfemale. she/her. ] my name is VIOLET DE LUCA, i am a SIXTEEN year old JUNIOR from HARWICK academy, and i’ve been a student for TWO YEARS. people always say i’m RESERVED & OBSTINATE but i think the fact that i’m PLAYFUL & IMAGINATIVE makes up for it. they also think of me as THE ARTISAN but i’m not sure why. there is one thing that nobody knows about me, though, and it’s that I CAUSE TROUBLE TO GAIN MY FAMILY’S ATTENTION.

to others, being wealthy might look like a perk, but what’s so great about being wealthy if your parents aren’t there for you? that’s how violet felt most of her life. she loved her brother with all her heart, but with the arrival of an adopted sister, it just felt like the de luca parents paid more attention to them than her. however, she doesn’t blame them, just their parents.

rather than speaking out loud about it though, she figured being a good, obedient daughter would make them proud. however, it felt as if it didn’t get better.

being tired about it, she decided at the end of sophomore year that it was time for a change. it was the first time she ever tried anything rebellious. she covered a part of the front entrance of the school with graffiti. her parents bailed her out of it, but for the first time, it felt as if they gave all their attention for her and only her. which was something she wasn’t going to let go. she made a decision to cause more trouble for them.

just like her dad being an animator/cartoonist, violet became interested in drawing. it started off with crayons at a young age, then grew into sketching in middle school, painting began at the start of high school, but now she’s mainly focused on digital art.

growing up, being popular was never in the cards for beatrice chambers. she was the kind of child to have about two close friends and be made fun by other kids of once in a while.

she wasn’t too proud of her parents either. mom was a lawyer while dad was a librarian. to the girl, it was far from cool and she felt embarrassed whenever they were at family friend parties.

ever since middle school began, all she wanted was to with the popular group and she felt envious toward them. it eventually made it her goal to be like them in high school. the summer before her freshman year, she researched what was trending, begged her parents for new clothes, and started to wear makeup.

she wanted a brand new start and that’s what she crafted. at the start of her first year, she would tell lies. lies about who her relatives are, lies about her parents, and lies about her childhood. the girl was willing to do almost anything to be cool and be with the in crowd.

Thanks for tagging me! I got so excited then so anxious since it’s really been a while since i’ve done anything social on tunglr.

1. Are you named after someone? Actually no. Middle name is after grandpa, but first was just bc parentos thought it sounded nice and didn’t immediately lend itself to mockery lol 2. When was the last time you cried? I feel like I only cry when watching media??? Which seems weird, like, I have pretty extreme emotions in just about every case. But I only really cry when something I watch just breaks me down and it doesn’t even have to be in a sad or happy way. Like, I cried at all the most recent star wars bc I got too excited? Finale of Adventure Time was my most recent hard-cry though.

3. Do you have kids?

Naw. Maybe someday but idk.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

oh yeah. both irl and online. i try to communicate it well and try not to do anything mean-spirited :/

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

god knarf i like your answer. chase that booty into the sunset. Probably voice is the first thing i really register. Mannerisms next? Like the way people hold their body, particularly their spine and hands. I don’t remember faces well. Clothes sometimes, since i like to compliment people on that.

6. What’s your eye color?

Blue? Greenish? Gray? It’s complicated idk. Kinda reflective, but they don’t really ?look? reflective.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

That’s easily the weirdest diametric i’ve seen in a while. like, not mutually exclusive??? if i can pick a genre it’s tragicomedy

since hobbies is a separate section, i can puff my cheeks up really wide. idk what else to put here lol this is the worst answer

jack of all trades, master of none yo. I can code, play clarinet and uke, write poetry or prose, critical analysis, any video game, cook and bake pretty dang well, i really like cleaning?, cocktail-making, dming. lots of stuff.

kinda wish i did but not right now. parentos have a dog i love and kinda “had” in high school.

6′2″. really really nice height to have

running and yoga (””””sports””””) are my currents. did the standard soccer / baseball stuff in elementary school. Did fencing and kendo in middle, that was fun. Does speech and debate count? I hope not.

English, but honestly, i fuckin rocked school. Gimme any subject. Crushed. Kinda miss the generalism of high school. in english grad school now. is good still.

bc carly @aldmerii humored me and answered all 60 questions of the oc question thing for shaelle, i’m gonna do it for al as well even tho literally no one asked so. here goes!

1. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S BIGGEST FEAR?

having his friends, people he’s grown to trust and care for, discover all the bad shit he did in the past and basically breaking all ties with him. he’s terrified they’ll think he’s a monster bc well. he thinks he’s a monster sometimes too

2. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S FAVORITE MEMORY?

it’s not one specific memory exactly, more like. a mix of lots of memories. in the summer he used to play outside all day with the other kids who lived in his neighborhood (very poor, pretty decrepit houses, mostly dust and dying grass) and like. those were some of the best times for him? because he was still too young to care that their family didn’t have enough money to send him to school, or that all of his clothes were hand-me-downs with at least one tear that had been fixed, or that his mother’s face was worn with wrinkles that would better suit someone much older than she was. so he’d play pretend with these kids in his neighborhood, and go on “adventures” and kick around pebbles and wrestle in the dirt, and then he’d come back home to his mother calling him, and she’d wash his face and feet and hands gently and tuck him into bed and he’d fall asleep under the heat to the sound of her soft voice and the insects buzzing in the grass.

3. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S LEAST FAVORITE MEMORY?

he’s got plenty to pick from, so i don’t think there’s one specific worst. but the gazes of people he willfully hurt, potentially even killed, really haunt him. he tries not to think about the stuff he did when he was younger.

4. DOES ANYONE HAVE A CRUSH ON YOUR CHARACTER? IS YOUR CHARACTER AWARE OF THIS?

my beautiful girl shaelle do,,,, and also this one demon dude they helped once. can’t remember his name bc he’s a pretty irrelevant npc. he was aware of that crush, but he has no fucking clue shaelle likes him

5: DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER’S DREAM DATE.

oh man. anything romantic that would make his date happy. it’s cliche, but he’s fond of long walks and candlelit dinners. he’s an exceptionally hopeless romantic.

6: WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER’S SEXUAL ORIENTATION?

lol what’s that????? al likes a lot of people he’s not picky. he’s actually kinda lowkey a ho.

7: HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THEIR NAME?

my boi gots lotsa names. his birth name makes him nostalgic, but he doesn’t really attach it to himself anymore -- the only person who can call him that is his mother. the name he used when he was a thief he absolutely despises. he still twitches if he hears it spoken, regardless of if it’s pointed towards him or not. he picked the name he has now himself, so he likes it quite a bit thank you very much. it makes him feel like a distinguished human gentleman. he’s a fucking doof.

8: DOES YOUR CHARACTER HATE ANYONE? WHY?

al is not someone who hates easily. he trusts easily (too stupid to learn from his past mistakes, he’d remark bitterly, but really it’s because he’s an idealist by nature and wants to believe people are inherently good). he doesn’t respond well to betrayal. at all. he accidentally punched a dude to death once for betraying the group. to be fair, the dude was really fucking old, and he only had one hit point left and failed all his death saves so like. not really al’s fault. you woulda done it too if you were in the same situation

9: HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT RELIGION?

neither of his parents are very religious, and he wasn’t raised religious either, so it doesn’t really matter to him all that much

10. WOULD YOUR CHARACTER EVER KILL SOMEONE?

yes, but only if he felt it was justified and there were no better options. he is strongly against killing people who he feels don’t deserve it, but there are some people he would kill without hesitation solely because he believes their death will benefit many others. he’s got. complicated morals.

11: HOW DID YOUR CHARACTER MEET THEIR BEST FRIEND?

he met borem when they were assigned to be partners. they’re both detectives. although not sure how long that friendship is gonna last now...............

terrified. hates heights. don’t make him do this.

I was tagged by @secretlysora !! I love answering questions but I don’t get them very often. So this is a nice change haha, thank you (〃ω〃)

Brianna’s Questions:

1. How many hours of sleep do you get each night? Depends on the time of year haha. When I’m in school I think the average is about 5-6 hours, and on breaks I try to sleep in so maybe 6-8 hours then? I go to bed late and wake up relatively early (either because of school, or my mom wakes me up) so I don’t get a lot of sleep tbh

2. What’s your favorite time of day, and why? I think nighttime would be my favorite time of day because that’s when I “go to bed”. I use air quotes because I really just stay up and play games or read stuff on the internet. It’s pretty nice because the house is super quiet, and I get to do whatever as long as my phone has enough battery haha

3. What are three things you’ve always wanted to do? frig that’s a tough one uhhhh 1) I’ve always wanted to have one of those quintessential college moments with the local coffee house/ slam poetry place. The one example that comes to mind is like in the Xtremely Goofy Movie when they just go to the coffee house , and it’s like a really cool place near campus where they can chill and hang out y'know 2) I’ve wanted to try out ice skating tbh. I used to have quite a few friends growing up that we’re either really good at it, or at least visited the rink a lot, and that got me interested. There were even a couple opportunities for me to go through school, but the timing didn’t work out so I couldn’t go. Less people I know go, now that we’re older, but it still seems like an interesting thing to try out 3) ??? Idk lol

4. What was your favorite memory from last year? I really liked getting to tour colleges with my dad last year. One of the trips we went to Arizona and Chicago (cause I got accepted to ASU and DePaul), and as part of the trip we would check out what the area has to offer. Y'know, to make sure it’d be a nice place to live while I’m staying at college. Chicago was my favorite place, aesthetically speaking. I took so many pictures when we were there.. Plus we got to check out the museums, which is always fun. We walked down from our hotel to the planetarium (because I friggen LOVE space), grabbed a Chicago dog for lunch, then after went to the Natural History museum. Personally the area is a little too densely populated for my taste, but from the few days we spent over there, it was really nice.

5. If you could be any age for a week, what age would you choose to be? I’m pretty happy with my age rn tbh (18). I am considered to be an adult by the law, so I can do stuff like get tattoos or lotto tickets if I wanted, but at the same time I don’t have all the responsibilities of an adult yet because I’m still kinda on the young side.

6. What is a habit you’re proudest of breaking, or one you want to break? One I’m proud of breaking is how much I used to rely on the people around me. Of course when times are bad I ask for help, but in general I think I’m becoming more comfortable in myself? One habit I want to break is biting my nails. I’ve tried to break it a few times since I was a kid, but usually something stressful comes up and I end up biting them again. I guess in order to do that I’ll have to manage my stress first? ha..

7. When you were really little, what did you want to be when you grew up? The two things I wanted to be when I was a kid was either a veterinarian or a singer. I remember when I was in elementary they had us do a project where we wrote letters to people who had the professions we wanted, and ask them for advice if we had the chance to do that job later. For the vet I wrote to a local clinic, and for the singer I wrote to Billy Joel because Green Day was one of my favorite bands of the time. As I got older though, I realized I’m slightly better than average at singing, and I don’t have the heart to be a vet (I get really upset when animals are injured). So instead I’m working towards being an animator haha…

8. What do you love the most about yourself? (tbh this is another hard one for me to answer? ha) uh I like how neat my handwriting is. Since middle school I’ve written a lot of stories on the side, personal ideas and whatnot. My methods of writing meant I would physically write my ideas out, type them and print, then write over with edits and more details, type them and print, and repeat until I either was satisfied with that copy or I got bored with it. So since I wrote so much in those scenarios, my handwriting got better and better over time. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments since high school about how neat it looks, as if it were printed, and that’s pretty cool.

9. What are you looking forward to this year? I’m looking forward to taking Astronomy in my next semester of college ♪( ´▽｀) and more art classes so I can practice more haha

10. What are your favorite hobbies? I love writing and drawing. I don’t draw as much as I should, but once I get back from my trip (in two weeks?) then I’ll make a regimine again. …as an example of when Tumblr goes weird, and how lost in the translation of social media does tongue-in-cheek become taken as a personal insult. I ought to have left my own commentary in my own tag-line. Not the comment roll, obviously. And, while this will probably add fuel to the flaming, (or, more likely, be totally ignored, which is fine bc this topic doesn’t need more attention than the diatribe I’ve voiced below), I’ll make one effort to add a little depth here.

As I vaguely understand, your PreRaphaelites were not about revolutionizing the state of women, nor breaking down social barriers of the time. They were about challenging the traditional art world of the time, and revolutionizing conventions of theme, form, style, etc. Some of that “rebellion” came in the ‘daring’ motifs of how they utilized their female models to embody the themes of the grand tragedies, myths, legends, and histories, mostly of the Western canon, from the classical civilizations to the Renaissance awakenings. In the short span that the PreRaphaelites thrived, their female models, the way they were deployed in whatever character mold they were posed–amid sweeping, dramatic backgrounds as they wove spells to wreak vengeance upon enemies and faithless lovers; or, charmingly reclined in havens of flowery meadows and enclosed gardens–unintentionally, I presume, acquired the paradoxical contrivance of Victorian-era Womanhood, trapped in the complex of Madonna-Whore.

It takes more nuance than I have time or patience to explore, and there are loads of articles abounding on the complexities of moral theme, and social commentary, reflected in the PreRaphaelite paintings. That being said, the dichotomy existing between the two icons most common in these paintings–the provocative, dangerous Femme Fatale versus the demure, modest/passive Innocent Beauty– were duplicated in the landscapes, which were meant to mirror the disposition embodied by the female subject. That was one of the genius revelations of PreRaphaelites, to unite the symbolisms of geography, nature, and human subject together in the way they composed their ultimate canvass.

The other stroke of brilliance was the subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, message imposed upon Victorian woman who viewed these paintings. They were lessons of what society desired of female nature (gentle, innocent, modest, virtuous, and obedient), and what happened to women when they strayed from the righteous path of gendered convention. Rebels who chaffed against the constraints of Victorian social hierarchies, including those women who sought to subvert the 19th century codes of politics and law that relegated women to a status of lesser human, wholly dependent upon a male for any sort of legal/professional status, were in danger of the doom awaiting the FemmeFatales and Fallen Women of the PreRaphaelite paintings. Tragedy, grief, madness, death, etc, was the ultimate fate of these dark Magdalenes who broke from the Domestic Goddess sphere so enumerated as the end virtue of Victorian Femininity.

The chigger comment, and the somewhat caustic tone of the observation regarding the paintings, was not a slur directed at either the person who posted the three gorgeous paintings referenced, nor a slam on the actual artwork…despite it being taken as such. I can’t account for generational or translational/linguistic differences in how a sardonic, tongue-in-cheek comment becomes taken personally, especially when a post is composed on a public social media platform, which is available to equally public admiration, observation, critique, any and all of the above. That being said, I concede our perspectives of art–paintings, poetry, literature, etc–are influenced by so many things. From our background/real world personal lives and experiences, to age/generation and travels beyond our comfort zones, to encountering different peoples from various walks of life where you are forced to interact with them in the world beyond cyberspace, to our depth of education, and personal hobbies/interests. Maybe the person who posted this is still in a stage where idealism is totally appropriate, and that will certainly come out in the adoration of paintings that embrace exactly that perspective. That’s totally fine, but realize, as I noted in another perceptive commentor’s reblog further down the reBlog roll (and curiously, no longer existing on said reBlog roll), everyone is entitled to voice an opinion, and it is entirely possible to both admire beautiful artwork, and still be critical of its more insidious history. That’s how I perceive these pictures, bc behind the beauty, and fantasy idealism, there’s a harsher reality, whether we’re talking chiggers (mind you, tongue-in-cheek comment there), or an off-hand remark about these paintings reminding me of more modern masculine views portraying how stereotyped women spend their “leisure hours” (that would be the analog to the Victoria’s Secret lingerie slumber parties, and the bondonka-donk statement which was made).

Even without that modern parallel, the true imposition of darkness belying these paintings, for all their pastel pastoralism, is the paradoxical reality of most contemporary Victorian women’s lives. Bleak, stark, and brutal. Struggling against constant woes of abusive husbands, an endless litany of pregnancies, early child mortality (1/5 babies didn’t make it to 12 mos of age, and your average Victorian era working class/poor woman probably birthed, on average, every 2-3 years, from menarche to menopause, if she lived that long), the high rate of maternal mortality, surviving beneath workplace/labor rights exploitations as the Industrial Age steamrolled everyone in it’s path, (and this recounting could probably continue as nauseum, but we’ll stop there for now), who wouldn’t have wanted to escape the drudge of daily existence, even if only for a few moments, in their imagination, by viewing the gorgeous tranquility evoked in these paintings? Who today, especially working women, both raising families, trying to maintain jobs/professions, one the other, or both, still doesn’t desire that? Only, I’m guessing the kind of woman I’m characterizing, from the bottom-barrel, working/poorer class Victorian society rarely ever had either the time, awareness, or means to access the places where these paintings were displayed. And as for the more middle-class/upper-middle class, conventional daughter/wife/mother of the Victorian age, it would be interesting to have some notion of how they viewed these works of the PreRaphaelites. Mostly because, the more daring and controversial of the Femme Fatale/Fallen Women portrayals, as I understand, were actually not considered suitable for “decent” women to observe. The reason: because the female mind might be provoked into “untoward passions” that were embodied in some of the darker-themed essences of PreRaph pictorials. Sex, murder, death, vengeance–not exactly suitable for the fragile and excitable female mind, as the psychology, even the physiology, of women was understood by the Victorians.

The gender politics of the time encouraged women to remain mentally and emotionally immature girls in women’s bodies, and it’s difficult to deny that the male dominated art world, however inadvertently, didn’t play into that perception of social morality, paralleled in the airy images of innocence, where nubile ladies lounged in gauzy dresses all day, in a safe sphere of controlled nature. This same Victorian world beheld the powerful images of sorceresses and rebellious queens with an ambivalence of attraction and disgust–women who claimed their own autonomy--and they threatened the order of civilized gentility with chaos and destruction. That was the exact same polemic communicated by 19th century Victorian era sociologists, lawyers, jurists, professors, physicians, magistrates, monarchs, presidents, etc, when it came to the recognition of women’s rights translated as human rights. And that view justified how the few courageous women who began to muster a resistance by social activism to redress these injustices, were punished by the society of the time, through ostracism, to blatant abuses like mandatory psychiatric hospitalization, and other means of intimidation for the purpose of maintaining the spheres of domestic and public order the Victorian middle and upper-classes believed were necessary for right and proper society. A place for every person, and every person in their place.

That’s the story of the entire 19th century, washing us up into the progressive era tumult, and political/social/labor reforms of the early 20th century, as women advocated, not only for themselves, but many others who had experienced the 19th century oppressions of racism, sexism, and work place abuses. That’s neither here nor there regarding the spate of (unintended) offense provoked by my comment, other than to say, some viewers’ experience of these paintings goes beyond emotion and into analysis. And as I observe, the women of the Victorian era grew up, and left their “gardens and their gossamer” to take on the reality of existing in the muck and mess of the real world, such as they had already been doing through the entire century, but now they wanted their status as autonomous humans to be officially recognized, and separate from any male oversight, including the rights which would allow them to provide adequately for themselves via access to educational and professional institutions, on par with the rights men had enjoyed for hundreds of years.

I don’t know if that societal upheaval was reflected in the changing tastes of the public for various art-styles. I have read that by the early 20th century, the PreRaphaelite school became something defined in form, theme, and presentation as passé, being looked on by viewers largely as an antiquated semblance of outmoded technique. That doesn’t mean it still wasn’t enjoyed then, or now, for the obvious qualities of the paintings. Perhaps that’s what ought to have been written in that comment scroll, but it seemed too short a space to write what I’m writing here.

Perhaps the best thing would have been to not say anything at all? But then, what’s the point of posting any kind of work to a public viewed blog if it doesn’t invite some kind of commentary, and what’s the point of posting anything, if the only comments tolerated are those of praise and edification? Its been said that social media–FB posts, Twitter tags, and Tumblr posts–all feed into that human inclination to justify personal ego. Who doesn’t get the dopamine surge from yet another “Like”, or “Reblog”, and continue to check back obsessively to see if the ticket counter went up another “5 Likes” on that awesome post one spent so much time (away from real world responsibilities even), blood, sweat, and tears to create? Lol, we’ve all been there, and been guilty of it, so whatever pop-science web-blog from whence that conclusion of egotism originated, maybe they’re right…

Anyway, as a last point of concession to the original poster for their admiration of the models in these paintings…hey, you’re right. Absolutely. The women modeling for these paintings, of the PreRaph era were indeed remarkable. Even more so, in my mind, beyond the artists for whom these women played Galatea to the painters’ Pygmalion. However, I would beg to offer a bit of perspective on the reality of anything broaching a life of ease, glamour, or even romantic yearnings such as they magnificently embraced in their modeling. Let’s be honest, the PreRaphaelites would have had no glory if hadn’t been for the women who endured the hours of discomfort, boredom, and sometimes downright near-sadism/torture so their “genius” painters could capture the perfect atmosphere for their canvass. The story of 'Ophelia’, one of the most iconic paintings defining the philosophy of the PreRaphaelites, best typifies perhaps, the tragedy and hopeful despair (that contrary word use was deliberate) that defined the lives of some of these women. The link below provides a more evocative description of Lizzie Siddal, her life, and work. And by god(dess), the near hell she endured just so Millais could create this beautiful, tragic episode of literature into portraiture.

My admiration for their strength is boundless, because so many voices of women have been lost to history. And any surviving legacy of these accounts belongs to all of us as women, and men (and these days, any other gender-fluid identity that lies somewhere in between dichotomized sex differentiation. At the end of the day, I’m glad we live in the 21st century, despite all the chaos of our world right now, it is still better for a vast majority of people than it has ever been in recorded epochs). So, I don’t contend that these women weren’t admirable in their own right. I do wish to clarify, nothing in the Infamous Chigger Dialogue was a slur against the women themselves. It was a slur on stereotype, and masculine artists’ points of view, coincident with the highly masculine-dominated world of the Victorian era in which they created their masterpieces, graceless as I came across in my verbal barrage of “chiggers” and “bondonka-donks”. I will suggest tentatively though, that the last thing on Lizzie Siddal’s mind, after completing her hours in preparation for posing as Ophelia, was of donning gossamer robes and reclining in a grassy glen. It was more likely on wishing for a thick, warm blanket and stiff shot of brandy in a hot cup of tea.

Those are the rueful observations my mind makes, knowing the story behind some of these paintings. The PreRaphealite models, their beauty and passion, remain immortalized in works crossing the depths of human feeling, from tranquility, and a yearning for that peaceful meadow in sunlight, to iconic scenes of raw drama, violence, and the passion of forbidden love. The best modern day equivalent reflecting this perhaps, is from that recent pop song lyric, “there’s pain in beauty, and beauty in everything…” (Or something approximated to that lyric…I don’t pay much attention to pop music, but that lyric is quite figurative). So, I’ll let that stand as my sober admission of guilt for the offense perceived in the Tragic Tumblr TakeDown of PreRaphaelite Nymphs, and the Errant Chigger Pube Bite. Especially for the Nony to consider, who sent that lovely mail, claiming “I talk a lot of shit”. Well, as you said–here’s the “shit”. I can but deliver the goods. I am half-joking on that, btw. Honestly, Nony, I’m not offended. Saddened a bit, that you didn’t have the confidence in your stance to not have to resort to “anonymous” in order to express your sentiments. I don’t really get offended, and I often try to give the benefit of the doubt in understanding where someone is coming from in their own strong reaction, in the few times I’ve cyber-slipped. And really, they have been quite few, as I don’t look for Tumblr to be my sounding board of conflict. I’m sure, Nony, you don’t either, even in mis-spoken observances of truly lovely art-pieces.

Again, all Art is a reflection of reality, and every person will have a different opinion on certain works based on their own life’s experience. No one opinion is any less valid than any other. I will apologize for having stated my tongue-in-cheek chuckle in your blog comment section. Better to have added it in my own tagline where it wouldn’t have been visible unless someone cared to look. It’s not personal. Your post possessed a classic grace.

So, despite the yearning, peace, or nostalgia such scenes provide us, I, at least, find both admiration in the emotion, the provocative message of certain scenes, while I can also laugh at how not like reality these paintings ever resemble. That’s why we enjoy them, and It’s okay to be a little skeptical, and even examine them with a bit of humorous irony. I work in medicine, as my own frame of reference from the real world. I see the result of what happens way too often when people’s idea of the “fantasy” fails to match the reality of particular situations, and the resulting consequences medicine is then left mopping up. Thus, I tend to approach almost all artwork from the baseline of Maslow’s hierarchy, and work up from there, where the subject of the piece characterizes “genius” or “Darwin Award”.. In other words, from art’s viewpoint, it totally accomplishes its objective in me, by making me completely sympathize with the human subject (and puzzle over what they were thinking) in the act of a painting coming to fruition. Interpret that as one may, I can’t apologize for how my personal syntax might be persevered.

Lordy, typing this piece of verbal flatulence stole hours of my life never to be returned. It had to be said though…even if only in my side blog…cheers!
