Nothing ever came of this idea (drawing or in depth plot wise, I mean), but since I’m always about the fankid life, I did have an idea for a poetree fankid that was a bit dark. But I think they’re a rough ship so dark is to be expected.

Don’t worry about the details about how Wirt had the kid (could be omegaverse, could be just the Unknown and/or the Beast makes anything possible) but essentially, the kid between them is part demon tree so would work as an alternate fuel source for the lantern. So could break off the kid’s limb or antler or whatever and use the part to fuel the lantern for a while (could burn the whole kid and would be a bigger boost, but that’s not the point). Since the kid is part tree, any broken off part would eventually regrow on them, which is why the point is the kid is a potential renewable fuel source vs just a one time boost.

But what the kid actually is is another way to control Wirt. If he doesn’t fuel the lantern through the usual means, then there’s the looming threat their baby would be used to keep the Beast alive. I don’t think the kid would be born right away. Would be a bit down the road once Wirt starts to waver maybe? In my head the baby is a boy since stronger parallels with Greg that way. Projects his feelings of failure and wanting to protect Greg onto his son (can never decide if in this AU Greg dies and Wirt was tricked like canon was moving towards, or Wirt manages to make a deal with the Beast to save Greg but Wirt stays behind). But their son is very much the Beast’s way of further manipulating Wirt.

As for the kid himself, poor boy never got as far as having a name, but I was channeling Beast!Wirt a lot in how he’d be design wise. Kinda quiet and apathetic like. Break off one of his antlers or arms to feed to the lanturn and doesn’t react much. Cause I think it would upset Wirt a lot how his son doesn’t react to the bad situation they’re in. Although I do think once he’s old enough, he would act as a second lantern bearer of sorts. Help his mama out in collecting fuel for the lantern and ends up a more consistent companion to Wirt while the Beast is off doing whatever and showing up every so often to check up on them.

Again, I think the scenario was a bit too depressing so I never developed it a lot. Was just intrigued by the idea of a Poetree child where the Beast only wants the child as a way to further control Wirt/fuel the lantern in a pinch.

The sisters walk in the unknown. And Yvette talks about how this place works and about her role in it. Lily just loves these stories (rather her sister's voice, which captivates as well as the voice of the Beast) and is ready to listen to her for hours.

Lili:

Eccentric, curious, cheerful and caring. By nature, an extrovert is able to make friends with almost anyone, infecting those around her with vital energy. In many ways, she looks like her uncle Greg, but from Wirt she inherited a love of poetry and the clarinet. Despite her behavior, she is very vulnerable and distrustful. Her distrust is caused by the divorce of her parents and (as she believes) the betrayal of her older brother. This fact is key in her attitude towards Yvette, since she does not want her charming (only in her brain) sister to go through the betrayal of her loved ones. And yes she hate her brother like he hate her and his stepsister.

Yvette:

Calm, collected, responsible. She is aware of all the responsibility that lies on her. Although this does not prevent her from joking viciously at people who annoy her. Sometimes even the Beast became a victim of her practical jokes, but he treats this philosophically and this happened when Yvette was very small. Like any member of her family, she loves art, especially music and opera in particular. Unlike her sister, she plays the violin. So some inhabitants of the unknown distinguish her from the Beast, since she not only sings an octave higher, but also plays the violin. She treats her sister well, although she is VERY often pissed off because of her constant deaths.

Since have been rambling about it on Twitter, another playlist I made that I like a lot is the poetree playlist. Most of the songs I compiled way back with the idea I might upload it onto 8tracks (which never happened). But because of that, unlike most of my playlists, I was deliberate about the order of the songs. Is meant to be how their relationship would progress (sorta). Harsher at the beginning, kinda sorta softer by the end
