People being weird about Halsin while I'm over here unable to make myself turn him down. The way this man yearns, I swear. How can you not love it? đ€
Baldur's Gate 3
#I know I said I wouldn't romance halsin and karlach at the same time buuut...#I just love him way too much#and also I think my durge is desperate to be close to people#because she's terrified of her own mind and wants the distraction and the reassurance#so having karlach AND halsin around helps keeps the murder thoughts to a minimum#plus what if after the epilogue karlach's heart is fixed and she fixes up the tavern in reithwin and they all live happily together there?đ„ș#(also she told halsin about her murder thoughts first and I think feels that attachment to him so...)#(excuse my tag rambles...)#baldur's gate#baldur's gate 3#bg3#halsin#tav#durge#tiefling#eris#video game#playstation#ps5

SPOILERS of BG3 Epilogue (Karlachâs, more specifically).
.
.
.
.
.
So we learn that while in Avernus, Karlach found the location of Zarielâs infernal forge and some blueprints that might allow her to get a new engine or fix her current one.
This is awesome in itself, but I thought it was extra cool because this was so close to my headcanon and is neatly connecting to DnD lore about Avernus!
Zariel wasnât the only Archdevil of Avernus. Before her, a devil called Bel was the Archdevil of that hell. Bel still lives and actually works for Zariel now - BUT he still schemes and patiently waits for a chance to reclaim his rule.
Do you know where Bel works now? The forge.
⊠>>
You see that, right??
âAfter being deposed, Bel made his home in an iron fortress carved out of a volcano. The bastion acted as a forge for Blood War weapons and armor and was protected by infernal legions and dark magic that divined intruders.â
âBel oversaw the production of Blood War arms and armor while scheming to retake his throne after Zariel supplanted him.â
Both quotes from the Forgottten Realms wiki.
SO. Bel is the âownerâ of Zarielâs forge, and he doesnât like her very much. In fact, he wants to depose her and is waiting for an opportunity to fuck her up. And Karlach is going to the forge to get her heart fixed. I always imagined in my head that Karlach and Bel would end up meeting and joining forces (temporarily) to take on Zariel - or at least take a swing at her. And what better swing than to get Karlach a new engine and let her loose on Zarielâs forces for a bit - or even at Zariel herself? Seems perfectly canon compliant to me! Plus, Bel is a devil that is known to honor his promises and one that sometimes doesnât request a soul in exchange for a contract or deal - he often requires other types of contributions (kicking Zarielâs ass or sabotaging her efforts might fit the bill perfectly!).
If before I was inclined to headcanon this sort of deal with Bel to help Karlach, now Iâm pretty much sure that is the path implied by the canon story. I can see it not being easy and Zariel lashing out but⊠as Astarion said to Karlach, her just never being able to return to Faerun âis not fair, not after everything weâve been throughâ.
So, for me, this is what happens: Karlach and Astarion go to Avernus. She wonât burn, he wonât burn there. They fight and struggle, but pick on cues and plan to infiltrate the forge with the help of Flo. There they find Bel who proposes a deal to give Karlach a new, more powerful and Faerun-proof engine - in return to sabotaging Zariel. Itâs rough, difficult, but they manage. She gets her engine. And then itâs time for Karlach to return the favor to her beloved vamp - to turn Faerun inside out in search for a way to get Astarion to be in the sun again!

Things that could be further developed in act 3:
1-The press quest, what do you mean the guy you made an alliance with is sabotaging you for free and what you do has no impact on the merchants in the city?
2-Gortash, as a whole, my experience was he was in the morphic tank when I did the Gondian quest, and he doesn't say anything when we meet, I was like, brother, there's no robot in the city anymore. And tav dear, you discovered how the citywatch is fucked up, and you SAY NOTHING?
3-Karlach as a whole,my hope is now that she is top 3 romanced character she will get some development,I think the developers didn't expect her success, like she's not even on the official poster.I am even ok, if you can't cure her but at least idk discuss how she is trying actively being a good person, after she worked for gortash and spent years as a frontliner in hells, how just because you're good now does not mean it erases the past. (Redeemed durge parallels let's gooooo)
4-THE WHOLE PLOT TWIST THAT THE EMPEROR IS BALDURAN, AND HE KILLED HIS EX BOYFRIEND.And I as a balduran and a BARD (I was waiting for the dialogue check for me trying to flirt with the dragon to save myself, a classic cliché) for rp reasons I don't want to kill ansur.
5-Apparently there is no epilogue if you choose the ending in my name or in bhaals name, at least I didn't find it.So...cmon Larian let me see đđ.
Listen to me, anon, and listen well.
There needs to be a fucking Avernus/Devils/Hells DLC.
Hear me out. Who is missing the most content?
Karlach and Wyll.
What are they connected to? Devils. Raphael. The House of Hope. Zariel. Mizora. Hello???
PLUS, I get to see more Gortash shit, because he should've been sent to the House of Hope, and you should've had the option to save him. Maybe have HIM fix Karlach's goddamn heart, and start his road to...being useful, if not redeemed.
AVERNUS. HELLS. DEVILS.
They gave us the House of Hope but didn't involve Gortash with it at all??? Besides some crummy voice lines?
That's horse shit.
Oh the people I'd kill just to see Raphael and Gortash have a single scene...urgh.
