Boner for You [Elorcan]
Prompt: Fake Dating College AU where Lorcan just wants Elide to be his girlfriend for a party and Elide wants to pretend she isn’t thrilled about it. |
Genre: Fluff/Humor Rating: SFW despite the title lol. Recommended listen: Born by OneRepublic Author’s note: Inspired by this gifset here. I saw it and it screamed Elorcan. I just had to find a way to fit it in and what better way than fake dating?
Tumblr media
She stood scowling, rooted in her spot.
If it was up to her, she would stay rooted to this spot forever rather than step into that frat party and have to embarrass herself for him.
Elide’s eyes shifted up to glare at Lorcan who was glancing down at her with a smirk.
“Scared?”
“No.” she scoffed. “More annoyed with myself for letting you put me in this position.”
He grinned at her and brought an arm around her shoulder, pulling her closely into him. “Now now, you agreed on your own. All I did was ask.”
“Desperately.” Elide gritted out and his grin widened.  “You asked very desperately.”
“And then you agreed to come to this party with me.” He said, leaning down to meet her gaze. His smile was wicked and Elide wanted to reach up and choke him. “You agreed to come with me to the party and be my girlfriend so that my ex would leave me alone.”
“Pretend. I am pretending to be your girlfriend.” Elide emphasized then pointed at him with narrowed eyes. “And what if your crazy ex-girlfriend decides to turn her crazy on me, hm? What happens then?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll protect you, kitten.” he replied, his voice low and he playfully tried to bite her finger which she retracted immediately with a growl.
“I’m not your kitten. Don’t call me that.”
“I didn’t say my kitten but I see how you like the possessiveness of the term.” he replied, grinning at her and she scowled again. “I’ll make sure to call you that in front of people so that they know what my girlfriend likes.”
“I’m going to punch you in the face if you don’t stop.”
“You can’t reach my face, kitten.”
Elide pulled away from his arm and used every bit of strength she had to yank him down by the front of his shirt until they were inches apart.
“Yes, I can.” she replied, glaring. “Don’t push your damn luck, Salvaterre.”
“Feisty. I’m hella turned on right now.” he said, grinning obnoxiously and Elide nearly did punched him right then and there.
“Lorcan.”
“Elide.”
“I hate you.”
“Yet, you’re still here.”
Elide groaned and shot him another glare then pointedly gestured towards the door. “Let’s get this over with, you giant barbarian.”
It had been so stupid of her. So stupid.
Did she know that this would happen when she agreed to tutor his stupid ass in their Calculus course? No.
Did she think she would start crushing on this giant jock with a handsome face and really nice body while she was tutoring him? Definitely not.
Despite how annoying he was now, Lorcan was actually a good student. So when he spent the majority of their last lesson completely zoned out, she snapped at him until he confessed. He had caught her completely off guard when he asked her to go with him to a party that Fenrys was hosting. She had gotten invited alongside all her friends but hadn’t planned on going — she had even forgotten about the whole thing, until he asked.
It had taken every ounce of willpower in her not to blush and not to get too happy about it.
-Two days ago-
“Why?”
“Why what?” he had asked her confused.
“Why are you asking me?”
He shrugged. “I need someone to play my girlfriend for the party.”
“And you thought of me?”
“Yeah.” he had replied. “You’re smart and hot. Plus you're tiny and it makes me look bigger than I already am.”
Her expression flattened. “So you want me to go with you because I help inflate your ego?”
“Yup.” he smirked.
She squinted at him then said, “No.”
“Come on,” he insisted, attempting a pleading look. “I know your friends are going and it’ll be fun.”
“You think I want my friends to see me pretending to be your girlfriend?”
“They’d love it.”
“No.”
“Please?”
“No.”
“What if I told you it was because my ex was there and I really don’t want to deal with her?” he asked and Elide pursed her lips at what seemed to be a genuine expression. As if Lorcan Salvaterre couldn’t handle his ex-girlfriend.
“So you want me to play buffer between you and your ex?”
“No. When she sees you with me, she won’t approach at all.”
Elide snorted. “I doubt Maeve will be intimidated by me at all, if that’s what you’re hoping for.”
“Oh, Maeve will never see you coming. She’ll be too shocked.” Lorcan replied with a small smile.
“Shocked that you’ll stoop low enough to date a girl like me?” she asked, glowering at him.
“Shocked that a beautiful, smart girl like you would even look at a guy like me.” he corrected with a grin and Elide had wanted to punch herself for blushing.
“Well...there’s so much of you, you’re not exactly hard to miss.” she muttered, intensely gazing at her textbook. “Giant beefcake.”
Lorcan burst out laughing at that and Elide shot him a dirty look.
“If you haven’t already put that as my name on your contact list, please change it to that.” he said after it took him a few minutes to calm himself in which Elide thought of multiple ways to stab him to death with her pencil.
“I already have you down as ‘Annoying asshole’. I think it suits you better.” she huffed and he smirked at her.
“Fair enough.” he had replied, leaning closer to her. “So will you go with me? I’d be honored to have you as my pretend girlfriend.”
After a few moments of silence, she had finally agreed, on the condition that no intimate gestures would take place.
He laughed for another ten minutes at that and then Elide almost really did stab him with her pencil.
~
Currently, Elide wished she had stabbed him just to avoid stepping into this jungle.
Music was blaring, people were drunk all over the place, not to mention all over each other. Elide grimaced slightly. Lorcan’s gaze fell on her expression and he smirked before turning back to face the hallway, maneuvering them through the bodies.
“So which room do you want to start in first?”
“We will not be going into any rooms at all.” she snarled. “Open spaces only.”
Lorcan turned suddenly, causing Elide to crash into him. She staggered for a moment but Lorcan’s arm easily came around her waist, holding her tight against his chest. “Why? You’ve been in a room alone with me before, Elide.”
“That was the library. We’re never really alone in there.” she said, her arms crossed over her chest, glaring at him with flushed cheeks. “I already told you no funny business!”
Lorcan laughed and brought his face down to the crook of her neck, nuzzling his nose there before moving to her ear and speaking quietly, “Trust me, Elide. Business between us would be anything but funny.”
Her whole body heated at his words as he pulled away with another one of his wicked smiles and Elide let out a breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding.
“You giant animal.” she hissed and he snickered.
“You know kitten, you keep mentioning how much of a giant I am.” he purred. “I’m starting to think you’re hella attracted to how much of me there is. You like that I dwarf you, don’t you?”
Elide could almost feel the steam coming out of her ears as she glared at him but he only laughed and winked at her.
She wanted to run at him and pound his face in. Elide was well aware he was making fun of her and yeah she was attracted to him because he was really handsome. And tall. And beefy. She did like that he dwarfed her. In her low moments, she often wondered what it would be like to actually have his giant body on hers.
Despite how annoying he was, she had to admit, he had charmed her in one way or another. The time they spent together working on calculus was ridiculous and he infuriated her to no end. But then he also brought her a cup of coffee and a snack for every tutoring session. He pissed her off but he made her laugh too. Lorcan was nice to her, even when he was being annoying.
Sighing, she followed him. Elide would play his girlfriend. Maybe she’d enjoy it. In fact, maybe she’d be the one to surprise him. With a determined expression on her face, she followed where Lorcan was now heading towards his friends.
What Elide didn’t know was that Lorcan was giddy as hell on the inside. He had taken a risk asking her that day but he’ll be damned if he didn’t at least try with her. This wasn’t about Maeve at all. That bitch wasn’t even at the party but Lorcan was willing to use her as an excuse if only to get Elide to come with him. Tutoring had been the first excuse so he could get her number. He was crushing on this tiny girl so badly, it made Lorcan want to dig a hole and die in it. She was too good for him. Way too pure. But he saw the way she looked at him sometimes. And he saw the way she blushed at the things he said and that had given him hope. Also, it gave his imagination a lot to work with.
“Elide! You CAME!” Fenrys half screamed, already drunk. He came and threw himself on her and Elide yelped at his weight.
“Hi, Fenrys.” she choked out and Lorcan quickly yanked his giggling friend off Elide.
“Don’t crush my girlfriend. I haven’t tortured her enough yet.”
Elide shot him a glare and Fenrys let out a loud gasp.
“YOU GUYS ARE DATING?”
“Yup.” Lorcan replied, grinning obnoxiously at Elide, the glare still in his direction.
“Nope.”  She countered and Lorcan raised a brow.
“SINCE WHEN? UGH FINALLY LORCAN.” Fenrys continued, leaning against the wall for support and it was Elide’s turn to raise a brow.
“Finally?” Elide asked and Lorcan smirked.
“Don’t worry about it, kitten.”
Elide narrowed her eyes then broke out into a devilish smile. She leaned closer into Lorcan, bringing an arm around his waist. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’ve been pining over me all this time.” she said and it was Lorcan’s turn to narrow his eyes at her. “If I didn’t know you were truly clueless at calculus, I’d think it was an excuse to spend time with me...babe.”
Lorcan blinked and prayed his body wouldn’t betray him because Elide was touching him all on her own and he felt that death was near. Her delicate hands were on his body and he felt both blessed and cursed. Fenrys giggled drunkenly.
“SHE CALLED YOU BABE. AW SHIT. YOU’RE IN DEEP LORCAN.”
“Is he now?” Elide asked, looking over at Fenrys. “Do tell.”
“Shut up, Fenrys.”  Lorcan snarled softly and Elide’s mischievous grin returned.
“Oh please, Fenrys, tell me.”
“PFFT, HE’S HAD A BONER FOR YOU FOR LIKE — MONTHS NOW.”
“Does he now?” Elide asked sweetly, lifting her eyes to meet Lorcan’s, pulling away from him and he scowled at her.
“YEAH. LIKE — HE NEVER SHUTS UP ABOUT YOU. HE ALWAYS STARES AT YOU LIKE A CREEP.”
Fenrys clearly wanted to die today. Lorcan’s scowl deepened but it was mixed with a slight panic and he bopped his friend on the side of his head causing Fenrys to yelp in return. He wanted to tell Elide he liked her. But not like this and certainly not through Fenrys.
“He’s drunk. Don’t flatter yourself and believe him.” Lorcan muttered to her, attempting the bravado he had when they first came in.
Elide blinked, her lips forming a small pout and she saw his eyes flash for a moment. “Well, geez, relax beefy.” she said quietly. “I already know you wouldn’t stoop for a girl like me. You’re the one who insisted I come with you.”
“That’s not what I meant.” he quickly amended and surprise colored Elide’s face at the red staining his cheeks. “I just — don’t listen to Fenrys — he’s being stupid —”
Elide waved a hand and cut him off, trying not to let the way her heart dropped at his words show in her expression. “Don’t worry about it. You should go get your girlfriend a drink.” she said, looking anywhere but him. “I’m going to need several if I have to keep pretending to like you.”
She could’ve swore hurt, then regret, flashed in his eyes before he reluctantly left her side to find the drinks. Elide watched him as he left and let out a sigh then her eyes scanned the room for any of her other friends.
“You know — hiccup — he really does like you.” Fenrys said, still rubbing the spot where Lorcan hit him. Elide turned to him with a raised brow.
“Does he now?”
Fenrys nodded then winced, rubbing his head again. “He just has a s-shitty way of showing it.” he slurred softly. “Maeve was a manipulative b-bitch. She totally — hiccup — fucked him up.”
Elide’s eyebrows furrowed and a small frown came on her face. Maybe Fenrys was right but that was certainly too much to hope for. Sure, he flirted with her nonstop and she had been attracted to him but Elide wasn’t really experienced and he most certainly was and —
“You’re overthinking it, t-tiny one.” Fenrys said with a drunk chuckle. “I can see it on your pretty face.”
Elide rolled her eyes but her cheeks heated nonetheless. “You’re drunk. You don’t even know what you’re saying right now.”
“Listen, I’m drunk cupid.” he said with a hiccup. “You got a b-boner for him like he has one for you. Just DO IT.”
Elide winced as he yelled the last two words, the blush deepening on her face before she waved Fenrys off. “Stop it. If he comes back just tell him I went to find the girls.”
“When you guys bone, I w-want a gift in exchange for this encouragement!” he called out after her and she flipped him off, causing him to laugh.
Elide’s eyes took in the mess of the room around her. People making out, people dancing, people laughing and drinking. She really wasn’t big on parties so she only came from time to time and each time, she was sure it would be her last.
“Well, it certainly isn’t a Fenrys party unless he’s getting flipped off by multiple people.” Aelin’s voice came from behind her and she turned with a wide grin to find her close friend.
“There you are! I was just starting to look for you and the girls!” Elide said, hugging her. “Where are they?”
“Manon and Dorian ran off doing things I don’t want to think about and Lysandra is kicking Aedion’s ass at beer pong.” Aelin replied with a laugh and Elide grinned.
“What about you and Rowan? I’m surprised you’re not all over each other at the moment.” she teased and Aelin gave her a smirk.
“We break up our intense make-outs and inappropriate touching into sessions so we don’t miss the party. You missed the first two times.” she replied with a nonchalance shrug and Elide burst out laughing.
“I’ll try to avoid any further sessions, thanks.” Elide said with an eye roll, her eyes scanning the room again, and fell on a current arm wrestling match going on between Rowan and Gavriel. Her eyes fell on the hulking figure of Lorcan intensely cheering the two on, the drink he was supposed to be getting her still in his hands.
“Forget about me...what about you?” Aelin asked and her tone made Elide meet her gaze. “Is there something you want to tell me?”
“What do you mean?”
Elide knew what she meant. Her cheeks heating on their own indicated she knew exactly what Aelin was asking and the way Aelin’s smirked at her made Elide want to run from this stupid party.
“You walking in with Lorcan? Lorcan having his hands all over you when you first came in? His face buried in your neck? You having your hands all over him moments ago? Fenrys screaming something about boners and for you two to just do it?” Aelin rattled off and Elide groaned. “I mean, Elide, when were you going to tell me you guys were boning? Everyone has been taking bets on how long it’ll take for the two of you to go for it.”
Elide’s expression turned to horror and Aelin started laughing hysterically. “I-It’s not like that!” Elide quickly explained, her face burning. “I — we — it’s not like that! I’m just pretending to be his girlfriend! I’m doing him a favor!”
“Elide, Elide, Elide.” Aelin tutted, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “I may dislike Lorcan because he’s an annoying pig, but the heart wants what it wants. I will support you. And cut his balls off if he does anything stupid.”
Elide was about to protest again but Aelin pulled away to give her a look and she let her eyes wander back to where Lorcan was.  As if feeling her gaze, his eyes flickered to hers and Elide tried not to let his expression unnerve her. She braced herself as he started walking towards her and slowly handed her a drink.
“Sorry. I got distracted.” he said quietly and Elide took the drink, their fingers brushing as they had many times during their tutoring sessions. She curled a loose strand of hair behind her ear and gave him a thin smile.
“It’s fine. You guys look like you’re having fun.”
“Yeah.” he replied and his free hand came up to rub on the back of his neck. He shot Aelin a look before looking back at Elide and leaned closer to her. “I’m sorry. About earlier too. I didn’t mean what I said.”
She raised a brow at him. Lorcan’s expression was that of a scolded child. She almost laughed.
“It’s fine.” she repeated. “I get it. Fenrys riles up everyone.”
Lorcan chuckled then his expression turned serious again as if weighing his next words carefully. His eyes flashed to Aelin again but Aelin only crossed her arms, rooted to her spot and watched earnestly. Lorcan scowled and Elide bit back a smile then brought a hand to his chin, bringing his attention back to hers.
“What’s wrong?” she asked and Lorcan’s jaw clenched when she pulled her hand away. Elide had no idea what was going on in his mind but his eyes gave away to the hurricane which were his emotions. He cleared his throat and took a step back, taking the drink he had handed her moments ago then finished the entire cup in one go.
“I just wanted to say…” he began, then licked his lips. “Fenrys wasn’t wrong. He’s...he’s right.”
Elide blinked, looking between her empty hand and his earnest face. “W-what?”
“He’s right. I do. You know.” he said and Elide saw color heat his cheeks as he waved his hand, looking anywhere but at her. “Have a boner for you or whatever.”
Her eyebrows shot up as Aelin snorted behind her but the two ignored her.
“What I meant — I mean — that isn’t how —” Lorcan growled then stopped himself, crushing the empty plastic cup in his hand. He cleared his throat and then locked eyes with her. “I like you. I’ve liked you for a while. It doesn’t mean you have to do anything about it. I’m just — I’m being upfront with you.”
Elide stared at him. She heard the words he was saying but she wasn’t sure she could comprehend it. Lorcan watched her expression of shock and swallowed.
“So uh. You don’t have to pretend to be my girlfriend anymore. Maeve was just an excuse for me to ask you to the party.” he said and gave her an embarrassed smile. “I uh...I’m just going to go. Have fun with the girls.”
Elide blinked again and watched him go. Her body lurched forward after him but then she paused, turning to Aelin with a dumbfounded expression.
“Did he just —?”
“Yup.”
“Does he really —?”
“Yup.”
Elide’s whole body flushed and Aelin burst into giggles.
“I can’t believe he actually likes me.” she mumbled and Aelin squinted at her.
“Why wouldn’t he? You’re amazing, El.”
Elide shook her head. “I just...never thought I was his type.”
“You are very much his type.” Aelin confirmed and Elide looked at her curiously. “He’s whined to Rowan about you before when he doesn’t think I’m around. Jokes on him, Rowan tells me everything anyways.”
Elide’s cheeks flushed and she bit her lip. “So...so this is real? He isn’t...playing a game or anything?”
Aelin shook her head with a smile. “Definitely not. He knows you’re the real deal.” she said and Elide’s eyes flickered back to where Lorcan had returned to an even more intense arm wrestling match than before. He was seated in the place of Rowan, giving his opponent a menacing look as they got ready to go.
Elide watched him. She watched the curve of his body as he sat, barely putting in any effort to knock his opponent down. The corner of her lip went up when he started sniggering at the poor fellow clenching his arm and at the two who took his place. Idiots. She thought. He was a giant beast, none of them would actually be able to beat him.
“Jeez, Elide. Get a damn room.” Aelin said with a snort. Elide shot her a look.
“That’s rich coming from you.”
Aelin grinned. “Maybe. But at least I’m usually in his lap when I stare at Rowan like that.” she said then gently pushed Elide. “You should probably move along if you would like the same fate.”
“You think he’s annoying.” she said incredulously.
“Yes, he is and I would love to stab him if pulls anything.” Aelin said and then shrugged. “But he's not a total loser. What can I say? I’m a sucker for love.”
Elide blushed then bit her lip. He had been upfront with her. Maybe it was time she returned the favor.
Taking one last look at Aelin, Elide moved. She weaved her way through the bodies, her eyes locked on Lorcan and his bulging muscles that easily knocked over the two opponents across from him. She watched him laugh at his success but the laugh quickly died in his throat when Elide slid into the seat across from him.
She heard the murmur of confusion that her move had caused but her eyes were locked on the male across from her as he gazed at her with a raised brow.
Elide rested her elbow on the table and held her hand up, in position for the silly arm wrestling game he’d been playing. She gestured with her chin to his arm and with a tilt of his head, he slowly reached out to clasp his palm in hers.
“What are you doing?”
“Did you mean what you said?” she asked quietly, her heart racing at their linked palms. She really did like how his hand completely enveloped hers.
Lorcan held her gaze and she saw the sincerity in them when he answered. “Yes.”
“You have a boner for me then?” she asked with a small smile and his lips twitched.
“I do. A big boner.” he replied, a grin spreading on his face now. “Both emotionally and physically.”
“That’s good.” she said and leaned her body across the table, planting a quick kiss on his lips. His eyes widened in surprise and Elide took that moment to bring his arm down, giving her a cheater’s win in the arm wrestling match. “Because I have a boner for you too.”
At that moment, with him gaping at her stupidly, it felt like the rest of that room had vanished. It was just the two of them and a thrill rushed through her body. Lorcan stared at her for a few seconds before his head leaned back and he barked out a loud laugh.
Cheeks burning, Elide pulled back with a grin of her own.
“You owe me a date, Salvaterre. I expect you to deliver.”
He leaned back in his chair and gave her a look that made heat flood low in her belly. Oh, how she hated him.
“I owe you several dates and I plan to deliver on every single one of them.” he replied smoothly.
“Don’t expect me to go any easier on you during our tutoring though. I’m a dedicated instructor.” she said and leaned against the table, crossing her arms over her chest. His eyes lingered there a little too long before meeting her gaze and leaning forward against the table as well.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less from my girlfriend.”
“Actual girlfriend now, huh?”
“Mm. This plays into so many of my fantasies.”
“Does it now?”
“I’ve been a very bad student, kitten.”
“I honestly cannot stand you.” she replied incredulously, but the knowing grin he gave her had her toes curling and cheeks burning again. He held his palm open to her.
“Wanna get out of here?” he asked quietly and she slipped her hand into his. She really liked how much he dwarfed her.
“I most definitely do.”

I’m Flattered But…
Elorcan daughter x Rowaelin daughter!reader
A/n: these two are my new favs to write for🥰
Warnings: teeny tiny angst
Tumblr media
A knock sounds on your door just as your handmaidens put the finishing touches on your gown. You watch in the mirror as Diana enters, stopping as she looks at you in awe.
“Wow,” she breathes out, “you look so beautiful.” You smile at her through your reflection as she comes closer. “Thank you ladies.” You say in dismissal. You want alone time with Diana before the ball tonight.
While your family, immediate and extended, know of your relationship the rest of the kingdom does not.
You turn on the raised platform, holding out your hands for your mate to take. She holds them tight, gazing down at you with love in her dark chocolate eyes.
You’re almost eye level with Diana. She inherited her fathers height making her almost six feet tall. While you stand at a comfortable five foot six. Personally, you love the height difference. Tall and muscular, Diana is every inch the warrior her father molded her into.
Leaning up you capture Diana’s lips with yours in a slow, loving kiss. When you pull back you wipe your lipstick from her plump bottom lip. “You’ll dance with me right?” “Uh-huh.” She hums out wrapping her arms around your hips as she lifts you off the platform.
Diana holds out her arm for you to take. “I’m also here to take you down to the ballroom.” You playfully roll your eyes at her, “Of course you are.”
The ball was going just like any other. Your whole extended family was in attendance. Manon and Dorain accompanied by Chaol and Yrene with their daughters. Elide and Lorcan with Diana’s siblings, Aedion and Lysandra, Gavriel even talked Vaughn into coming out of his hiding spot.
Before dinner and the real party started you, your brothers Sam and Nolan, and your sisters Malin and Evelin, stand by your parents thrones. As the oldest you stand between your parents to greet royal delegations or other lords and lady’s.
You tensed as your eyes landed on a lord and his son from Melisande. Looking at your father you saw a muscle in his jaw tick. He hates Lord Stagspire and his entitled son, Owen. They boy had been given everything he asked for since birth. Which made him think he was entitled to you.
Your mother let out a sigh as they approached, joining the staring session you and your father were having. They knew exactly what Lord Stagspire was here to ask. And the answer was a firm no. But as Queen, King, and Princess you had to put on a smile and play nice.
“Queen Aelin, King Rowan.” Lord Stagspire bowed deeply along with Owen. You gave a small curtesy back. As the lord prattles on kissing up to your parents you try to look anywhere but at Owen. You could feel his eyes burning holes into your dress.
You finally found Diana talking to one of Chaol and Yerne’s daughters. Her gaze met yours and she tilted her head in confusion. She began to make her way over to the dias. When she spotted Owen anger flashed across her beautiful features making her pace quicken.
Diana sidled up to Aedion at the edge of the dias, pretending to speak to him as she watched Owen like a hawk. She knew he made you uncomfortable. You felt better even if Diana was just off to the side for moral support. Plus you knew she’d absolutely kill Owen if he ever tried to fight her. The little lordling was absolutely pathetic.
Lord Stagspire clearing his throat brought you back to the conversation. “Now that your daughter and Owen are of age, I wanted to propose a marriage between the two. I think they’d make a fine pair your highness.” You heard Nolan cover up his laugh with a cough. Your mother didn’t hide hers however. Then you felt the rage from Diana’s side of the bond. You had to put an end to this before the two females you love most cause a scene.
Stepping forward, you place a hand on your mothers shoulder, giving her a calming look. “I’m flattered my lord but unfortunately, I don’t believe Owen and I’s pairing would be a fit.” Before he could say something he could regret Lord Stagspire gripped his sons shoulder, holding him back.
“Princess y/n, I was speaking to your parents.” “About a matter involving me and the crown I will one day wear. So I believe I have a say.” Your mother speaks up next. “I trust my daughters judgment and she is allowed to speak for herself as future queen of Terrasen. But, we thank you for coming tonight.” Your mother waved him off and he begrudgingly left.
At dinner you were quieter than usual. You had to sit with your family at the head table. Staring at your mate with a far away look you became a little jealous. You wanted to socialize with her and your friends. You wanted to show off your relationship freely.
Your mother nudged you with her elbow. “You’ve been quite since the dias. What’s wrong my love?” You let out a sigh placing down your fork and knife. That far off look not leaving your face. “I just want to be able to spend time with Diana during these things. I know we haven’t accepted the bond yet. But I want us to be able to be happy together.”
Aelin’s heart broke in that moment. As a mother all she wants is for her children to be happy. She would let you and Diana do whatever you wanted, Elide as well, but your fathers had voiced some concern. They just wanted to keep their baby girls safe.
Looking at Rowan, Aelin found the same heartbreaking look on his face. “I’ll go talk to Lorcan.” He said down the bond. The King pushed back from the table and strode over to the Lord and Lady of Perranth. Crouching, Rowan spoke to his brother.
Roughly five minutes later Rowan returned with a smile on his face. He gave Aelin a thumbs up and her lips widened into a grin.
Your mother leaned over to whisper in your ear, “What if we announce it right now?” You look at your mother with wide eyes. “Are you sure?” She nods lightly. Standing, Aelin raises her wine glass, tapping her fork against the side to demand the attention of the room.
“Thank you all for coming this evening. It is so wonderful to see my friends, my people, and leaders of Erilea together. It truly warms my heart.” She slowly set her glass down as your heart pounded in your ears. You ripped your eyes from your mother to look at Diana.
Elide was whispering in her ear about what Aelin was about to announce. Your mate looked to you with the biggest smile on her face that you returned. “On top of all other happy events of this evening this announcement is my favorite. My daughter, Princess y/n, has found her mate! She and Lady Diana Lochan are planning their ceremony and we hope you can join us when the happy occasion arrives.”
Applause sounds around the ballroom and Diana rushes to you. You pull her to a tight embrace, resting your head against her shoulder. You pull apart and the applause dies down. “Go have the first dance,” your mother encouraged.
You took Diana’s hand leading her to the dance floor. The quartet began playing and Diana began guiding you across the floor. “You sure you’re ok with this?” You ask, looking up at her with a bright eyes. “I’m more than ok.” You felt so happy you could cry. You sent a wave of love down the bond that Diana returned as she spun you.
Pulling you back to her chest you started laughing. “What is it love?” “We’re going to have to start planning our ceremony.”

So one thing that is important and never brought up enough is when you just focus on Sarah as a writer and human is that in all of her books, she has NEVER rewritten a losing virginity scene
NEVER
I can’t remember if she explicitly stated somewhere that she won’t, but after 10 years of reading her books that is something she’s never done, which as a romance writer HAS to be intentional. She’s written people fucking in the sky while flying, but the few times someone is losing their virginity it’s always been a fade to black or brief mentions of it but not the actual full scene.
The closest we get is “-and gave him everything she had.” Which was her first published sex scene, and “so Lorcan did.” Both in ToG. Justice for Elorcan😔🙏🏻
I 100% people should respect that authors can have boundaries too, like that can be a heavy topic for people! Especially for women who often have their literal worth tied to their virginity. EVEN IN HER BOOKS Mor and Lysandra 1. suffer consequences for losing it on her own terms or 2. have hers be auctioned off AT 17🤢
She’s a sex positive author, and yes this post sounds like I’m basing a characters worth on if they’ve had sex so I’m sorry I swear that’s not what I’m doing BUT THEY’RE CHARACTERS. SHE MADE UP. Not that being a virgin is a bad thing because it’s not. She just has a pattern for smut and even if we exclude the no virginity scenes I’m so sorry to the other ship BUUUUT having one of the 3 men who are in positions of power and have basically unlimited access to characters who’ve been SA’d, do people really think Sarah would make THAT a foundation of an entire ROMANCE BOOK AS IF THAT’S NOT A COMPLETE ABUSE OF POWER? If Rhys or any member of the inner circle, ESPECIALLY MOR(!) don’t kill Az if he did that, I’m sure his MOTHER or the other priestesses would. Could you imagine being a priestess and finding out your trainer and one of the few men you have contact with is trying to get his dick wet with one of your sisters? How violating that would be, no matter how professional he’d behave like Cassian during training? Thought Cassian and Nesta are a completely different circumstance, even if g and az were mates. They’d lose all of the Valkyrie’s and any sense of safety with the night court.
And to those doubting Elain getting a book, why would Sarah throw in that Elain lost her virginity off page? Entirely pointless, ESPECIALLY for a character viewed as a prude UNLESS she is laying the ground work for her future main character in a series where people fuck. A LOT. That’s literally Sarah’s pattern as a writer, hence one of the reasons we saw Nesta use sex as a coping mechanism and why Cassian didn’t take her v card, which I think started in frost and starlight off page BEFORE Nesta’s book.
Plus homie can’t even stand to visit Illyria bc of how they treat women, how people think Az would go after someone under his care who he literally rescued is genuinely terrifying???
Or that she’d force a Elain to be with a man who makes her uncomfortable no matter how likeable he is because someone/something/a-big-ass-pot decided for her at literally the worst moment in her life? Choice is so important to her as a writer
And again no one’s worth is based on their sexual history, whether it’s consensual or not because only you define yourself, which is one of the main messages she’s always had. And while these are characters are on a page, to whoever reads this you are a real person and your story is worth telling. (I know this is a sensitive topic and I’m trying so hard not to offend anyone and you don’t have to post it I am just so confused. Like yes people who’ve experienced such things like myself can and do still have sex, but if she -the writer- BARELY touches on Rhys’s assault during sex with Feyre, not even his own pov, or Nesta with Tomas or even Lidia, WHY would she go from zero to 10000 and write g’s sex scene who is a virgin.)
Who knows, maybe one day she’d write her story, but I’m sorry to say not starting out without her having sex before it starts.
The funny thing is that she said exactly that--she doesnt write virginity scenes because she doesn't like the power imbalance.
Especially since she tends to have these massive age gaps. But then she always gives actual magical power to the women to balance the age thing out.
I don't know why people don't understand how bad it would look. Especially given Azriel's mother's history, where she had no autonomy, and was made to be a virtual slave to the lord. No one is saying that that's Azriel obviously, but it would be a terrible breach of trust and could only be viewed as predatory. What I don't understand is that the same people screech that Rhys assaulted Feyre UTM (I categorically do not think that he did, but that's beside the point) but at the same time they feel that a Gwynriel relationship would be appropriate. Oh, well what if they are mates! Mate bonds aren't a ticket to do whatever the hell one wants, under any circumstances.
Azriel getting it on with a priestess from the Library is just not appropriate under any conditions. Especially with one who needs to ask Clotho for permission to go to a sleepover with Nesta and Emerie in the same building she lives in.

Hey! So I’ve got an elorcan prompt I’ve been playing around with. So lorcans had a long day is tired and clingy and for once just wants to be looked after. So he tries cuddling elide and she’s a bit like who are u and what have u done with lorcan. So he starts whining and in the end elide gives up and just lets him cuddle her. He dose. On top of her. Like literally flat out on top of her (not crushing her though) and elides like aww my giant teddy bear :)
If u decide to do this please don’t rush! Also I love everything write it’s brilliant 🥰 happy late birthday by the way I hope u had an awesome day u deserve it ❤️
hello lovely anon! thank you so much 🥺🥺🥺 hope you have a wonderful day too 🥰
word count: 993
warnings: absolutely none
enjoy!
My Oaf
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Elide?" Lorcan's voice echoed through the house. "I'm home, baby!"
"Hey," Elide greeted her husband, her fuzzy socks muffling her footsteps as she padded into the entryway to greet him. "How was your day?"
"Long," he griped, bending down to kiss his wife. "Damn long."
"I'm sorry," she whispered against his lips, cupping her hands around his jaw. "Need anything?"
He sighed into her caress, draping his arms around her petite form, the foot-plus height difference between them not really working in his favor. "I'm hungry."
"We can fix that," she smiled, kissing his forehead before gently nudging him to stand upright. "Go ahead and shower, Lor. I'll have food when you're done."
"Can't I just eat you?" he whispered into her ear, sending a delicious shiver skittering down her spine.
"Later," she chuckled, giving him a little push. "Real food first, my love."
"Fine," he grumbled, pretending to pout as he kissed her once more before heading upstairs, shedding his suit coat and unbuttoning his collared shirt as he went. He barely paused to leave his work bag in the spare room they'd turned into an office before dropping his clothes on the master bedroom floor, a trail of discarded garments following him into the bathroom.
Which definitely would have looked incredibly suspicious to anyone who was not his wife.
He indulged in a longer shower than normal, allowing the hot water and steam to soak into his tired body and soothe his muscles--gods, he swore his damn job was giving him early-onset arthritis and muscle cramps. The mirror was fogged over with steam when he emerged, bringing a wry half-grin to his face, for he knew very well how he loved to tease Elide about the way her steaming-hot showers rendered the mirror useless. Toweling himself off, he pulled on boxers and sweatpants and an old t-shirt, craving comfort more than style. Besides, he was home, who else would be seeing him?
True to Elide's word, there was an array of deliciously mouthwatering scents floating from the kitchen when Lorcan entered, trudging over to the stove to wrap his arms around his five-foot-three wife from behind. At six-five, he was tall enough that her head settled neatly against his chest, making it a little awkward for him to rest his chin atop her head, but that hadn't stopped him yet.
"Hey, you," she chuckled, switching off the burner. "Right on time, love, everything's ready now."
"Must be the growing boy in me," he smirked.
Elide's nose crinkled as she laughed, the throaty sound filling the whole house. "You're incorrigible, husband of mine. I love you."
"Love you more," he returned, stealing a kiss.
"Stop that," she said, affectionately. "There's minestrone and bread, eat all you need."
"The way to my heart," he half-groaned, serving himself a generous bowl of the steaming hot soup the second she placed the pot atop the hot pad on the table.
"Feed a man and he'll stay with you forever, they said," Elide laughed, pouring him some water.
"They're right," Lorcan mumbled, practically inhaling the food. "Gods, this is good, El."
"Glad you like it." Her dark eyes softened as she passed him the ladle so he could have more soup.
He was completely full by the time he helped clear the dishes and load up the dishwasher, flopping onto their large sectional couch with a deep, contented groan. "C'mere, El," he requested, holding out his arms.
She chuckled as she came to him, settling herself on the couch by his side. "Need something, Lor?"
He draped himself atop her lap, widening his eyes. "I need you to hold me, love."
She huffed a laugh. "Babe, am I your pillow?"
"Yeah."
"You're gonna put my legs to sleep," she teased, stroking her fingers through his dark, damp hair.
He shrugged. "I've got ways to remedy that."
She stifled a wicked smirk. "And what if I want you to hold me, love?"
"Nooooo," he protested, shifting himself so he could loop his arms around her hips. "Hold me, babe."
She raised a dark brow. "First I'm your pillow and now you're pleading? Who are you and what have you done with my grumpy Lorcan, hmm?"
He stuck out his lower lip, the sight almost making her burst into giggles. Her massive grumpy husband, a pool of fake petulance and an insatiable need for cuddles. "Please hold me, El? Pleeeease?"
How could she resist him when he was that adorable? "All right, come here, you big oaf."
His grin was almost childish in magnitude. "Your oaf, my love."
"My oaf," she agreed, grinning at him. "I--oof!"
She hadn't expected him to half-tackle her into the couch, melting into her body like she was his own personal pillow, a sigh of pure contentment escaping him as he settled in, his head tucked into the crook of her shoulder. "Am I crushing you?" he asked, concern flickering in his onyx eyes.
"Not at all," she reassured him, skating her fingertips over the angled planes of his face, her soft touch gliding down to his shoulders as she looped her arms around her hulking husband. "Honestly, I kind of like having you draped all over me. You're like a teddy bear."
Lorcan raised a brow. "Teddy bear?"
Elide nodded. "A great big grumpy teddy bear."
He huffed a wry laugh, his eyes drifting closed. "Not an analogy you've used before, El."
"Fits," she shrugged, working her thumbs into the knots in his broad shoulders, massaging out the tension.
"Hrrmmmphhh." His incoherent mumble was agreement enough.
A soft, contented smile curled her lips as she held her massive hulking husband close, his weight and warmth atop her making her feel so safe, so protected. Within half an hour, he was out, his breathing deep and even and steady, his chest gently rising and falling against her.
Her grumpy teddy-bear oaf of a husband.
She wouldn't trade this for the whole entire world.
EoS Part 2 FireHeart
Random (contextless-hot-mess) Thoughts “Round Up” Rambling:
*Spoiler warning up to Chapter 52, I have not read further so please avoid spoilers after pg. 484, thank you!*
— Will write more on these random notes later but for now:
She (Elide) is playing a Fortune Teller right as Aelin is freaking out over seeing the future? Or is she playing an ACOTAR type of character?
Elorcan is for sure a thing, they have the HoF ending vibes of Rowaelin with the whole “they don’t want to leave each other” piece now.
Thank goodness for hidden carriage compartments; I REALLY hate the Ilken
Grrrrreeeeaaaaattttt more self doubt for all the traumatized children of Terrasen
“LIVE”
She outsmarted him with assumption and I love her for it. Let’s go Queen Elide!
Wow she just leveled up by deciding about another Queen when she meets her (yesss girl; also noooooo Lorcan just calm down bruh)
What the hell are we doing Lorcan? YOU TELL ME!
Not the damned darkness again! MANON STOP GOING TO THE LIGHT OR DARK AND JUST GO LIVE DAMMIT!
Another life debt, that should come in handy; though wow is she being cold… why? Maybe the Rowan thing? A few pacing’s here are just a little off but maybe it’s perspective or plan? Idk that just felt off for Aelin or maybe… more Celaena?
“Fussy Fae males” and their love for their (what I’m calling because let’s be real they practically are) wives😂🥹
Abraxos found somewhere safe🥹 it was with Dorian😭he knew😭
“Cunning cruelty” yasssssss Elise descriptions (I love a classic 2-3 word description by Maas)
Why this way? Why not that way? What does it mean? Why can’t you go the right direction? I DON’T TRUST ANYONE!
Is it just me or do I also love Fenrys now?
“Witchling” & “Princeling” otherwise known as QUEEN AND KING
Okay so Dorian just did the same Rowan “nothing to me line” only this time it was flirty & not heartbreaking— INTERESTING (plus if it reminds me of Rowaelin it’s a good sign cause come on talk about OTP)
How does the shifter sea dragon thing work? A few chapters ago Aedion was saying it drained her too much? Yet it seems pretty constant? Is she also immortal? How does the human power thing work? Further same question with Dorian and his… shadow hands? —(Idk I’dhave to ask Azriel😂)
Finally YAS Elide let’s full circle this loop girlie (GO FIND AELIN NOW) — DAMMIT NO LORCAN BAD LORCAN DON’T KILL THE QUEEN CAUSE YOU MISS UR BRO — ughhhhhhhh😩 (thank the Wyrd god I can trust in Elide😅😂😭 like babe you have a place in this court; it’s called THE ONLY VOICE OF SANITY & Lysandra is trying but babe she wasn’t built to be the sane one she is a lion for Pete’s sake let the girl be wild too but Elide mommy we need you )
No one else I’d rather have at my back — thank you Dorian for once again healing everything
All the home metaphors for Rowan🥹😭🫶 I LOVE THEM
Where do we go now that we’re “stuck” on a boat with our “enemy” who we happen to think is cute shirtless and we’ll follow to the depths of Morath and say things like always cause it’s super casual totall who knows? Your just “his WIFE”😂
Okay Aelin’s note wins her extra points😘😘
The nightmares… fuck… are they “just nightmares”?
The shift of Rowan into fae but her telling him she just loves him and nothing else, and showing more of that side, and their powers, yet there still them, and just lovely😭 Break my heart again Rowan with your whole I didn’t know if I could get you back schpiel — wait she’ll always come back to him — ROWAELIN I CAN’T😭
I see you & I AM NOT AFRAID
crying cause he doesn’t know how to get her back from the gods but he’d go to hell with wyrdkeys if he had to but things are getting scary and I just want my babies okay
Aww Rowan just wants to be worthy of her, precious bb, you already are!
You’re all I need — see, I TOLD YOU ROWAN
You can’t hurt me — well you sure can hurt me
Rowan Pretty words Whitethorn😊
lol the two assassins retiring — yes please🫶
The “Yielding” … interesting… this feels bad… but cool?
The speed of certain ships is either due to soulmates, lack of perspective, or perhaps wreckless personality. It doesn’t bug me when I think on it (honestly I’m a bad judge after all these Rowaelin pining books) but I am curious about it.
“Courting death” the Manorian romance novel😂
The rest of them watching Rowaelin spar and pretending to ignore them even though they are a “storm” lol
She kept her friend and words to herself she’s growing and you can give the girl some points Dorian
I’m with ya Manon not until I have no choice! EVERYTHING IS FINE! To whatever end😭🖤
The 13 are fine. I agree. I am with Manon; until proven otherwise. That ilken knew nothing😅 because it’s just messing with her🥲 nevermind the fact no one knew that about Asterin🫥 or the Matron is off wreaking havoc🫠 she thinks Manon’s dead that’s gotta help right😭 MY GODS RIGHT😩 ITS NOT TRUE THERES NO FUCKING WAY THEY WOULD DO THAT TO ME LIKE THAT NONE AT ALL
If they friggin kill Fenrys five seconds after me being like well hello sir —
Why did the powers stop??? Why did both Aelin and Rowan’s powers stop? THATS NOT NORMAL!
DAMN IT HE KNOWS DAMN IT HE KNOWS DAMN IT
Okay is her power water or healing or one in the same?
Umm… Is she preggers? … … … why did she call Lysandra? Rowan bud are you okay? Is it the vision — what was the vision?
WTF NO I KNEW ELLYWE WOULD GET ME
Elide is giving Mob wife energy 💅🏻 😂 *hey google play “please please please” by Sabrina Carpenter*
NOOOO NOW ITS The Prophecy for Aelin
THE KEY I KNEW IT I KNEW IT (still think it’s a lock though)?
“Uncle kitty” I AM CACKLING
“She asked for him” I love Aedion and Aelin
More stars lines more breaking my heart great another quote time
Elide Lochan remaining a lovely human “not a monster” despite 10 years of trauma
How did Manon know that? OH GOODNESS ITS A REAL PROPHECY? Is it the Valg - witch connection? How’s that work with her Crochan blood?
Oh my gods IS SHE PREGNANT?!
Okay well at least I’m not crazy Maas did make us go there
Not to be that person but also like they should’ve talked about that one BEFORE😂 or at least recently… and I kinda hate that the “marriage & babies” is all “a queen is only good for” kinda mentality is getting into her head and not becoming a full talk with Rowan; where I feel like Maasverse already has a tendency to do messy pregnancy plots (there’s nothing wrong if she wants to get married and have kids: I’m just saying this time when stating it, it did not sound like she wanted kids; as much as “an heir” in “preparation for her inevitable doom” that she’s way too easily accepting)
Let’s have an adventure lol WRONG PEOPLE GUYS, THAT WAS CHAOLS LINE lol …also the line “Don’t leave”🥹 so many feels… and also A lot of repeated phrases either by intention or trope but I’m curious to see which it will be…
The more I think on it the Husband lie was quite genius as Elide always is
Who was it that they knew? … Whats up with the shape shifting Ilken?
The key is talking to Elide now (great🙄 that never goes wrong)? — Does it only talk to magic and witches? — HOW DOES IT WORK? (Also can my girls please stop wearing them so closely like literally on their hearts HAVE YOU NOT HEARD OF A HORCRUX — BE CAREFUL GIRLIES)
Blaming her — AGAIN?! — REALLY??? … WHY?!?
The goodbye with Abraxos😭😭😭
The marsh… sure… nothing bad ever happens in creepy swamps… 😅😅🙃
The King of Adarlan and Queen of Terrasen (okay I see you boo’s)
The cloak turned into a single ribbon🖤
THE QUEEN SAW IT TOO💔
Where to now???
talk about S&L!! i'm the BIGGEST fan of that AU and i just adore the idea of grumpy Lorcan training Aelin and her being in the Cadre <3
where did the idea come from? and did you have any thoughts if maybe anyone ele would be training aelin, or was it always gonna be lorcan? because....imagine Fen training Aelin he wouldn't last a day or Gav training her and realizing OH SHIT IS SHE MY KID? gahfkdljsdskjdksj i just love S&L
LEIA!!!!!!!!!!
I'm genuinely so happy that I'm working again on secrets and lies, and I'm so happy bc it's such a challenge for me as well!
I am not used to writing for anything other than modern AUs and it's also exploring a darker side of Aelin and Rowan as characters. And also... DAD LORCAN!!!!!!
It just came from a conversation and me saying "omg imagine if Aelin had been part of the cadre" 😂 Also, for her training I directly thought of Lorcan. I don't think that neither Gavriel nor Fenrys had enough devotion to Maeve to raise a kid and train her to kill and lie to her for years. Plus, Aelin's training will be hard in this fic, obviously not abusive as Arobynn's was in the books but I still needed Aelin's upbringing to be hard and not come from a place of coddling, you know?
Plus the use of Lorcan as her father/brother figure + her trainer will make Elorcan's chapters more interesting 👀👀👀
"You'd know if she'd died" Azriel said, Who's Az pertaining to in here? Is it Gwyn? Is it Elain?
Tumblr media
Here's a little recap to Elorcan / Elriel rescue parallels.
Remember these two scenes? Where Elide and Azriel were the first one to notice that Lorcan and Elain were missing?
But Azriel asked softly, "What about Elain?"
And then asked quietly, "Where is Lorcan"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Elide / Azriel were both unstoppable to their suicidal rescue.
"She'll be killed" said Gavriel,
Nesta said, "Then you will die"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then here comes the rescue scene:
"You came for me"
She had come for him. Had found him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elide was well aware the dam would break any minute and she could die but she still risked it. Az was well aware he could die but he still saved Elain. Why? Elide said this,
Tumblr media
"She would know if he were dead. She would know it, in her heart, her soul, if he were gone." Which is not far from Azriel's..
Tumblr media
They both WENT and SAVED Elain / Lorcan because they KNOW they are ALIVE.
Elide didn't sat there and waited for Lorcan to come back. She knew he's in danger but she could feel he's still alive.
Azriel, didn't sat there or went to rescue another person, he went to the camp because he could feel it in HIS HEART that Elain's alive.
I know, I know, they are from two different series but the parallels are too similar not to connect. Plus, it's written by the same author.
Person A and Person B are friends and neither of them have a date for Valentine’s Day, so they decide to order takeout of some kind and watch a movie together. At some point, hidden feelings are revealed. umm elorcan, obvi, because i am nothing if not predictable 🤪
isa... babe... i swear i actually did start writing this around Valentine's day... but... i am CLEARLY a mess.... please accept my VERY late elorcan present 😳
Valentine's Day Confessions
a/n: surprise i am alive ;)
Elide cursed as she grabbed the steaming hot popcorn bag from the microwave. The decadent buttery scent filled her cozy apartment as she poured it into her favorite mixing bowl. She was about to pour in the m&m’s when she remembered who exactly was joining her tonight - Lorcan. And her friend was not a fan of chocolate. If you asked her, the man simply had no taste.
It was Valentine’s Day and the pair had decided to have a singles awareness celebration. Since their entire friend group was filled with couples they were each other’s only source of company on this dreaded day. Truthfully, Elide despised Valentine’s day. Seeing countless couple posts on Instagram and stupid lovey-dovey shit everywhere only made her more bitter. She hadn’t had a boyfriend in a long time - too long. If she was being honest, she had always thought Lorcan would make a move on her one day. Though at this point, it had been years of banter and flirting with absolutely nothing else, so she had pretty much lost all hope. She would just have to accept that she would forever be in the friend zone, but of course, that was easier said than done.
She settled into the couch with her favorite stuffed animal when the doorbell rang. Lorcan, she assumed.
“It’s open,” she called.
“Elide, I could have been a killer,” Lorcan chastised as he took off his leather jacket and shoes at the front.”
“What killer rings the doorbell?” she shot back.
“Ok fair point,” he said, quickly settling down next to her.
“What do you wanna watch?” she asked, turning to Netflix.
Lorcan shrugged, “Your house your rules El.”
“Lorcan,” she grumbled. “You know I’m too indecisive for this.”
He had the audacity to laugh at her misery, “I know, but it’s funny watching you struggle.”
“I already know no romance movies. I’ve already seen enough lovey Snapchat stories to last a lifetime.”
“Agreed. Did you see all the shit Rowan and Aelin have been posting?” Lorcan asked with a laugh.
Elide laughed too. “Can’t be worse than Lysandra and Aedion.”
Maybe they were just cynical because they were both single, but at the moment Elide didn’t care. It was fun to joke around with Lorcan.
“Let’s watch an action movie then,” Lorcan suggested.
“John wick?” Elide asked, already clicking play.
Lorcan smiled, “Sounds like a plan.”
The movie had barely begun before Lorcan was shifting his massive frame to lay down, placing his head on Elide’s lap.
"Lorcan," she groaned. “You’re heavy as fuck.”
He mockingly gasped, “I’ll have you know I’m on a diet Elide Lochan.”
“It’s your absurd height, stupid,” she whacked him, but he was laughing the whole time.
“You’re warm,” Lorcan whined, sounding much like the five-year-olds that Elide taught every day.
“I have blankets right over there,” she said, gesturing to the basket overflowing with various throws.
Lorcan only stretched his legs out and adjusted himself on her lap. “If you don’t get up I’m gonna sit over there,” she said motioning to the new armchair she recently bought.
“When did you get that?” he asked, finally speaking.
“A few days ago because you literally take up the whole couch when we hang out.” She actually got it for decoration, but bantering with Lorcan was entertaining.
“You’re dramatic Lochan.”
“I’m dramatic?” Elide asked, as she stood. “I’ll show you dramatic.”
She walked to the armchair and plopped down crossing her arms and legs.
She was about to add another dramatic remark, but before she could she felt the chair give way. Suddenly, she was on the floor.
“Ouch,” she mumbled, once she registered the pain she felt on her ass.
“Elide, are you okay?” Lorcan asked, making his way over.
“Yeah I’m fine,” she muttered. “But I am never buying Ikea furniture again.”
In all honesty, it was probably her faulty building skills, but she was not going to admit that at the moment.
She tried to stand but pain shot up her ankle. She had landed on it weirdly, due to her dramatic crossed leg position.
“Wait for me Lochan,” Lorcan said as he carefully picked her up bridal style from the ruins of what once was her armchair.
“I could’ve walked,” she said softly against his chest.
That made Lorcan chuckle. “You were barely standing, El. You would have hobbled at best,” he said gently, placing her on the couch. "Let me get some ice. Your ankle already looks pretty swollen."
“I think it's just aggravated. Old wound,” she tried to say it with a smile, but it probably looked more like a grimace.
Lorcan’s eyes softened in understanding. “Ice won’t hurt though.”
Elide nodded and Lorcan took to the kitchen freezer in search of ice. He returned moments later with a bag of frozen peas wrapped haphazardly in a paper towel. He helped situate her ankle on a pillow so it was elevated and gingerly placed the bag on top.
“Shit that’s cold,” Elide couldn’t help but hiss.
Lorcan laughed softly and Elide smiled. Lorcan’s laugh was one of her favorite sounds. It was rare to see him smile and laugh openly when they were with their other friends, but when it was just them she saw it more often. She liked to think that it was because he was comfortable enough with her to show the real Lorcan.
“That’s the point, Lochan.”
“Get us some drinks, Salveterre,” she chuckled. “There is no better medicine than alcohol.”
“Whatever you say, boss,”
“I have a bottle of wine on the top shelf,” Elide called when she heard Lorcan rustling around.
“Got it,” Lorcan said, returning with a cup of wine. A cup.
“I was too lazy to find the glass,” he said in response to the look she gave him.
Elide stuck her tongue out at him before accepting the cup. “Let’s drink every time Keanu Reeves shoots someone,” she suggested.
“Elide, I think you would throw up if we did that.”
Elide rolled her eyes, “I’m not as much of a lightweight as I was in college, Lorcan.”
He raised a brow at her statement. “We’ll see about that."
As he expected, it had barely been 20 minutes, and Elide was already a giggling mess.
It only took 10 more for her head to fall on Lorcan’s shoulder.
And after another 10 minutes, Elide was onto the honesty.
She had hung out with Lorcan one on one many times, but nothing as intimate as a movie night on Valentine’s day where they were practically cuddling.
“Ok Salveterre truth or dare,” Elide slurred, turning to look at him.
“Elide the movie isn’t over yet,” he said pointing to the screen.
Elide gave him a look and paused the movie, “I’m too drunk to pay attention, plus we’ve watched this movie like five times,”
“Fine,” He laughed, giving in, “I say dare.”
“I dare you,” she said, poking him in the chest, “To kiss me.”
Lorcan almost spit out his wine. “Elide, you are way too drunk to be saying things like that.”
“I’m serious,” she said, setting her wine cup down for emphasis.
“I’ve wanted to kiss you since the day I met you, but you clearly only want to be friends.”
“Elide -”
“I know I’m not your type,” she said, her eyes dropping to the floor. “It’s fine, we can forget about this and blame it on the alcohol. It doesn’t have to be weird between us.”
She felt his hands on her chin, tilting it so they made eye contact.
“I’ve wanted to kiss you since the day I met you too. Elide Lochan, you are smart, kind, and pretty much out of my league in every single way. ”
She felt her cheeks flush at his admission. “Please just kiss me already, Salvettere.”
Without another word, his lips were on hers. Soft and sweet, a perfect first kiss, but she wanted more. She kissed him harder and opened her mouth. He took the hint, his tongue sweeping into her mouth. He pulled her closer, her heart was beating wildly against his.
Elide shifted so she was straddling his lap. She grinded against him and let herself get lost in the way he felt. The way he made her feel.
Lorcan shifted slightly as if he was going to lay her down. It would have been perfect, but Elide’s ankle turned too quick and she grimaced, breaking the kiss for a moment, but that’s all it took for Lorcan to pull back.
“Shit. Sorry, Lochan. I forgot about your ankle.”
“No I’m fine,” she panted breathlessly, trying to pull him back in.
“Maybe we should stop for tonight,” he said, brushing the hair from her eyes.
Elide grumbled, “stupid cock blocking ankle.”
Lorcan laughed again. “I can get you set up in your bed before I head out.”
Elide couldn’t help the pout, “Stay please?” she asked, wrapping her arms around his chest.
He smiled softly. “Anything for you, El.”
They readjusted on the couch so they were facing each other, this time cautious of Elide’s ankle. Lorcan pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and Elide tucked herself closer to his side. It wasn’t long before both of them became drowsy thanks to the alcohol and their heartfelt confessions.
And as Elide began drifting off to sleep in Lorcan’s arms, she knew this is how she wanted to spend every night for the rest of her life.
Congrats on 500, Cat!! 🎉
So we know about the hammock in Marcus‘s backyard but I think I remember you also mentioning something about a tree fort? Any HCs you’d like to share?
💙 @patternedlantern
My beloved @patternedlantern First of all, thank you! You always remember these little things I say, and there is nothing in the world that makes me smile more. You are correct my dear, I did mention a tree fort. And he definitely built it himself.
"Marcus?"
"Yes, my love?"
"Why is there a pile of lumbar in our driveway?"
Marcus looks up from the newspaper and shoots a shy smile at his wife where she's regarding him with narrowed eyes, one hand resting on her stomach. It's merely a small bump at this point, but it gets bigger every day, and she glows brighter and brighter for every minute that passes. He steps around the kitchen island and kisses her soundly on the lips, before giving the same treatment to her tummy.
"Don't tell Mommy, princesa, but today I'm building you a tree fort."
"Marcus, we talked about this. A tree fort? The kid won't be able to use the thing for years. Plus, when you fall and break your neck I'll have two babies to take care of."
He ignores her and continues to talk only to her stomach. "You're going to have the best tree house in the whole neighbor, baby girl." He then presses one more quick kiss to Marina's cheek before he's backing out the kitchen and towards the front door, her fiery words following close behind.
"Marcus Moreno- This conversation isn't over! Come back here and face me like a man, idiota! And stop calling it a girl! We agreed we would be surprised! Marcus!"
"Marcus?"
He shakes his head and turns to look at you where you're leaning against the old wooden ladder leading up to Missy's tree fort, regarding him with quiet eyes.
"Where'd you go?"
He shakes his head and smiles before pressing a kiss to your lips.
"Just thinking that we should probably clean this up a little bit," he answers, tapping his knuckles against the tree for good measure.
You turn and look up, eyes squinting at the skyline, the late afternoon sun wrapped around you in a beautiful glow.
"Just do me a favor?"
"Anything."
"Please don't fall out of it."
Elide Lochan 🖤 Happy 10th anniversary to Throne of Glass!! Reading the series again, especially books 4,5 and 7, reminded me just how strong and badass Elide really is. She seems like such a small, minor character in the beginning and then you see her bloom. Plus her saving Lorcan in KoA is still one of my fave moments from the entire series. Such a badass! It also seems fitting to post her at a time when I have a massive limp and a damaged ankle 😂 #elidelochan #elidelochancosplay #elidecosplay #throneofglass #queenofshadows #empireofstorms #kingdomofash #throneofglasscosplay #togcosplay #books #bookish #bookishcosplay #bookcosplay #bookcosplayer #sarahjmaas #sarahjmaascosplay #cosplay #lorcansalvaterre #elorcan #bloomsbury #ladyofperranth #ladyofperranthcosplay #yafantasy #fantasyromance #fantasycosplay https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg-iHkmPpmI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Also this has the potential to be fluff but it's mostly for fun:
Aelin is a surrogate for someone she dearly loves, and her lovely husband Rowan loves to freak people out by stating the baby is not his 😂
heeheehee this is fun! thanks for the prompt!
word count: 867
warnings: little bit of language, brief mention of infertility
enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aelin didn't ever think she'd get over the weird feeling that carrying Lorcan Salvaterre's offspring gave her.
Elide had first approached her almost fifteen months ago saying she had questions about babies, which Aelin, having two children of her own, was more than happy to answer. As it turned out, though, Elide told her that her OB had recently let her know she couldn't carry, and she was looking for ways to have children. She and Lorcan dearly wanted a family, though they'd waited a few years after getting married to start trying for a baby. After months of struggling turned into years and lots of visits to specialists, Elide and Lorcan had finally sat down and discussed the possibility of having a surrogate mother.
And Aelin was more than willing to carry her dearest friend's child.
There had been a lengthy process they'd all had to go through before she was allowed to be a surrogate mother, but it had at long last been finalized. And, six months ago, Aelin had gone to the hospital for the transferral, which had been a perfect success.
Now, here she was, carrying Elide and Lorcan's child, and she still snickered to herself when she remembered that technically, she had Lorcan Salvaterre's...well, you know, in her womb.
Her kids were young enough not to fully understand that Mama wasn't going to have a baby brother or sister. She and Rowan had explained to Evie and Bran that Mama was holding onto Auntie Elide's baby until it was time for them to be born, and then they would have a cousin, not a sibling. Eventually, their kids would be old enough to know that Aelin had been a surrogate, but for now, they were content to know that Auntie Elide was going to have a baby soon.
She and Rowan went for walks every day, something Aelin had begun doing when she was pregnant with Evie and found that it helped her stay mobile. They always passed people who smiled at them, who offered her compliments on how healthy she looked, who said they made “such a cute couple!” And, of course, there were the well-meaning but completely oblivious passersby who shook Rowan’s hand and asked him if he was ready to be a dad.
“Oh, it’s not my baby,” was his favorite offhanded reply.
His nonchalance never failed to send those people hurrying away, often with weird expressions on their faces.
They were at the grocery store one day, Rowan pushing the cart and his kids sitting in the seats and begging Dada for all kinds of things they walked past, and Aelin reaching over to the shelves, sometimes with little helping hands, to grab the items they needed. She’d stretched onto her tiptoes to reach the box of cereal she was trying to grab, her bump brushing up against the cool metal shelving, when a grocery store worker snagged the box and handed it to her.
“Here you go, darling,” the gray-haired lady said kindly, her laugh lines creasing as she took in Aelin and her family. “Goodness, you must all be so excited for the next little one!”
“Oh, it’s not my baby,” Rowan commented, casually tossing another box of cereal in the shopping cart. “Where next, Fireheart?”
The employee’s jaw dropped so far so fast Aelin was half afraid she’d break it clean off. “What did you say?!”
Aelin bit back a hearty laugh. “You’ll have to forgive my husband, he takes far too much joy in shocking everyone. I’m a surrogate,” she explained.
The lady’s face smoothed out. “Oh. Well, your husband certainly thinks he’s funny, doesn’t he?”
“He does,” Rowan replied smoothly, bowing comically low.
She ignored him and left the aisle.
Aelin looked at Rowan, who looked back, mirth dancing in his eyes. And they let themselves snicker, containing the full force of their laughter until they’d paid and gone back to their car, where they exploded into full guffaws, tears leaking out of Aelin’s eyes.
“Did you see the way she goggled?” she wheezed, bracing her hands on her knees.
“Thought we were some kind of polygamists,” Rowan snorted, grinning wildly.
She brushed the laughter tears off her cheeks. “I can’t wait to tell Elide.”
“Gods, I wish she’d been there,” Rowan snickered. “Can’t you see her just telling the lady, ‘hey, that’s my baby!’”
“Absolutely,” Aelin giggled. “Now stop making me laugh, buzzard, I’m about to pee myself as it is.” She rubbed one hand across her bump. “And your best friend’s demon spawn is obviously enjoying the joke too, since they’re kicking me in the ribs while somehow also sitting right on my bladder.”
“Let’s get you home, then,” Rowan said, holding open the passenger door and helping her up.
Aelin wasted no time texting Elide about the whole interaction, smothering her fit of cackling at Elide’s snarky reply. Needless to say, her dear friend had very much wished she could have been at the store. And she definitely would have told every employee they found that the baby was hers, thereby making everyone wonder if just who the parents were.
Ah yes, the joys of bearing your best friend’s child.

The Bodyguard pt. 4 (Elorcan)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Surprise at the end ;)
______________________________________________________________
Elide’s leg bounced uncontrollably as she sat at the breakfast table, staring at Lorcan, who just stared back, stern face looking unaffected.
After last night, she felt like things had changed between them. Whether he wanted to acknowledge it or not.
She’d kissed him.
And even though he said it was just the adrenaline and shock, deep in her head, she knew that was bullshit. She’d been attracted to him since the first time she’d seen him. Last night she’d only acted on the impulse.
But he hadn’t kissed her back.
He definitely didn’t seem mad about it, but he sure as hell didn’t react like she would have wished. And ever since, it hadn’t exactly been awkward, but it was sure as hell different.
Especially since she’s seen a different side of him when he’d taken care of her. His usually hard exterior had cracked enough to let her in, and it made her feel a little differently about him. In a really, almost disturbingly good way.
“I think we should get out of the city,” Lorcan said, snapping her out of her train of thought.
“And go where?”
He shrugged, but it didn’t look that casual. “I have a cabin. And it has enough security measures to let us know if someone’s coming.”
“Do you think that’s necessary?”
A dark look crossed his face. “Last time you asked me that, it didn’t end up well for either of us.”
She should’ve known he’d bring that up. Asshole. Even if he was right. “But what about my job?”
“Can’t you take a few days off?”
She could, but she never had before. Her schedule for next week was actually pretty blank and devoid of high-risk clients. Elide sighed. “When do we leave?”
“Twenty minutes.”
Her eyes bugged. “I haven’t even brushed my teeth. Or showered. Or packed!”
Lorcan just took a sip of his coffee. “Nineteen minutes.”
Sprinting to the bathroom, she cursed him soundly and flung herself in the shower. When she finally got packed and ready, she went back out to see him check his watch and shake his head. “That was twenty-three minutes, Elide.”
The way he said her name made her smile, even if he was teasing her. “Not all of us get up at five in the morning, Lorcan.”
He gave her a small smile, and she followed him out to the garage. Unsurprisingly, a jet black vintage sports car was in his spot. “Do you recognize you don’t own anything with color in it?”
Lorcan threw their bags in the back, then got in the driver’s seat. “Yes.”
Shaking her head, she got in the dark car’s dark interior and grinned. After turning on some old rock and buckling their seat belts, they were off.
They drove out of the city quietly, getting through traffic surprisingly well.
“How far away is this place?” she asked as he steered them through the suburbs, grimacing at all the white-picket fences they passed.
“About two hours.”
Oh, gods.
What would they talk about for two hours? The only long conversation they’d had was last night, and it wasn’t exactly cheerful. She turned sideways in her seat, studying his profile, and an idea sparked.
“What’s your favorite color?”
Lorcan shot her a curious glance. “As you pointed out, I don’t own anything with color.”
“Just pick one, then.”
“Gray.” She should’ve seen that coming. A smile tugged at her lips as he sighed and asked, “What’s yours?”
Settling deeper into the warm seat, she replied, “Navy. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?”
He muttered something that sounded suspiciously like back to my apartment. “Are you going to do this the entire time?”
“Do what?” she asked, using a very innocent voice.
She was surprised he could even talk with how deep his scowl was. “Therapy me.”
“Asking your favorite color and dream destination is not therapy, Mr. Salvaterre. I’d expect you to know that after a week of crashing my appointments.” Elide sighed dramatically. “But, yes. I’m going to do this the entire time. It’s my duty to society to therapy you until you give in and tell me everything about you.”
The scowl deepened, but there was a touch of humor in his steely gaze.
~
When a large hand bumped Elide’s shoulder, she shot awake, eyes immediately finding Lorcan’s.
“I fell asleep?”
“Mid question.” His lips twitched. “Started drooling everywhere.”
Her cheeks warmed at the teasing note in his voice, so she avoided dignifying that with a response. “Are we here?”
It seemed like a stupid question, but they were currently in the woods with nothing but trees around them. Lorcan nodded. “We have to walk the rest of the way.”
“And why, exactly, do you have this place?”
He shrugged, grabbing their bags and climbing out of the car. “It’s off the grid.”
Eyebrows high on her forehead, she got out, inhaling the smell of the forest around her. She hadn’t realized how long it had been since she’d gotten real fresh air that wasn’t polluted by chemicals and smog from the city.
Lorcan chose not to breathe deeply and enjoy their surroundings. Shock. He just reached and pulled a deep green and brown tarp over his car.
What the hell was this place? And why was he acting like they were going to war?
“You going to be okay to walk there?”
She nodded.
After a year of PT and a few surgeries on her ankle, she walked normally. It still flared up with pain, and she’d probably be sore after hiking through the woods on such uneven ground, but she wasn’t about to make him carry her plus the bags.
Lorcan nodded, too. “It isn’t far.”
About thirty minutes and multiple breaks later, Elide was wondering what the hell far would look like to this man. He strode through the forest, glaring at the plants and greenery around him if they dared to get in his way.
Elide, on the other hand, struggled to keep up and was practically gasping for air as a small, wooden cabin finally came into view.
“Oh, bless all that’s holy,” she cried. “We’re here.”
Lorcan glanced down at her, amusement and a twinge of concern on his face. He wasn’t even sweating, the insufferable bastard. “Are you alright?”
“I’m perfectly fine,” she wheezed.
“Stay here for a minute,” he commanded, then strode towards the house, taking a very specific route.
In fact, they’d done that the entire way here. He’d ordered her not to step certain places, touch certain trees, and a ton of other bizarre things she’d written off as coincidence.
He disappeared inside the house for a minute, then a soft click sounded around her.
“You’re good,” he called out.
Eyes narrowing, she walked up the creaky stairs of the house and inside. It was a little dusty, but everything seemed to be in working condition. “What was that all about?”
“Security measures.”
Vague. Unless... “Oh my gods, are there bombs under the ground?”
He gave her a wolfish smile as he nodded. “And pressure sensors to alert me if there’s anyone out there. And cameras. And trip wires.”
“And I’m guessing all the stairs and floorboards creak.”
He looked a little impressed. “They do. We’re safe here.”
“Seems so.”
“You can have the room upstairs; I’ll stay down here. It’s up and to the right.”
Elide nodded, going up the very creaky stairs to find a small bedroom with furniture somehow even simpler than what he had in his apartment. A bathroom was attached, and she was ridiculously sweaty after their hike, so she got in, happily surprised when the water was clear and hot.
When she’d wasted enough time in there, she got out and put on a large, floppy shirt and leggings.
She went back downstairs to find Lorcan in the kitchen, pulling out cans and preserves and setting them on the counter. “We have enough food for two weeks.”
Two weeks? She couldn’t stay here for two weeks.
She told herself it was because she didn’t want to miss work, not because she didn’t trust herself around her housemate. Two weeks alone with Lorcan, in the middle of nowhere... Elide was sure she’d do something to embarrass herself.
Like kiss him again.
Pushing that thought away, she slid on the leather sofa and pulled her foot in her lap to rub her ankle. It didn’t hurt, but it would be tight as hell tomorrow if she didn’t massage it a little.
Suddenly the couch dipped and Lorcan settled on the opposite side. He looked her over, then waved a hand. Surprised, she swung her leg over and put her feet on his lap.
Elide made a small noise as his thumbs started to massage her ankle, and she blushed as he looked up at her. “Does it hurt?”
She shook her head, suddenly unable to talk with his hands on her.
The memory of their kiss drifted through her mind. He’d been so stoic when she brushed her lips over his, and it had happened so quickly she wondered if she’d made it all up. But afterward, when he’d kissed her scar... that had been anything but stoic.
His dark eyes were on her, and she could tell he was thinking about last night, too. Maybe she wasn’t crazy.
His hands stilled, so she moved to pull her leg back, but he shook his head and held them on his lap. “Elide.”
He’d only said her name, but her breathing started coming faster.
Lorcan leaned closer, and she realized with a start she was moving towards him, too. Their lips touched, just as softly as the first time. “Elide.”
She kissed him again, just the barest brush of her lips against his. “Lorcan.”
And for the first time since she’d met him, he smiled.
It was a big, beautiful smile she doubted anyone saw frequently, and it made her want to kiss him again. So she did.
He leaned forward until she was tucked under him, his big body pressed against hers. And just like the other times he’d been like this, she could feel every part of him against her.
But this time, she felt it with her hands, too.
They drifted over his shoulders, down his back, across his abs. She smiled as the muscles constricted under her touch, and he took the kiss deeper, his tongue coming to meet hers.
She moaned softly into his mouth, hands finding their way into his dark hair and pulling it out of its usual bun, finding it surprisingly soft.
His hands were on her face, cradling her softly, but moved down her shoulders and sides, thumbs barely brushing the sides of her breasts. Elide arched into his touch, but he kept it light, almost teasing.
Until he gripped one of her thighs and pulled it around his hips, settling in between them and pressing himself against her.
A gasp escaped her at how just that little moment of contact had sent tingles over her entire body.
Lorcan kissed across her jaw, down her throat, stopping to suck at certain places. She’d never imagined she’d do anything like this. Had always figured she wasn’t capable of feeling lust after everything that had happened to her.
And now her body was very politely telling her how wrong she’d been.
She was on fire underneath him, burning with something she’d never felt before. Lust was unfurling inside her, and she wanted every part of him.
But as his hands drifted under her t-shirt, fingertips meeting the soft skin of her stomach, she pulled back.
“What’s wrong?” he asked immediately, eyes finding hers.
She looked down, suddenly embarrassed. “I, um.. I have a lot of scars.”
Gripping her chin softly, Lorcan brought her gaze to meet his, and his features were filled with understanding. “So do I.”
It was such a simple statement, but it meant everything to her. He’d been through unspeakable things, just like her. But he wasn’t ashamed. And... she shouldn’t be either.
So she nodded, reached down, and pulled her shirt over her head.
His dark eyes drifted over her, taking in her curves, the plain bra covering them. The scars. His expression never once showed anything but desire.
“You’re beautiful,” he told her softly. “And I’m going to fucking prove it to you.”
She didn’t know what that meant, but figured out his intentions quickly as he leaned down to brush his lips over her shoulder where a thin white scar rested.
He took his time kissing it, then moved down her arm to another imperfection.
And another, then another after that.
Until she couldn’t remember why she hated them, why she’d been embarrassed. He was worshiping them, silently telling her everything she’d ever wanted to hear.
Then his hands slipped behind her back and unhooked her bra, and he worshiped her there, too.
She squirmed underneath him, making an embarrassing amount of noises, but he didn’t seem to mind.
Especially as he reached to pull the waistband of her leggings down just enough to expose the brand.
Just like the night before, Lorcan leaned in and brushed a kiss over the mark.
Then he kissed his way back up to her mouth and whispered, “Beautiful.”
She opened her mouth for him, and his tongue swept in. His hands went back to her waist, thumbs slipping in her leggings to start pulling them down.
He stopped abruptly when a soft clicking noise sounded. Lorcan was on his feet in an instant, stooping to pick a device up off the floor and grimacing.
“Get dressed,” he growled, tossing her bra and shirt on her stomach very romantically.
Elide threw her clothes on, getting up to walk over to where he was looking out the window, device in hand. “What’s wrong?”
His tense shoulders and set jaw told her it wasn’t good, but she wasn’t prepared at all for what she saw as she looked at the screen.
She could make out a dark square with two blue dots--she assumed those represented the two of them in the house--in the middle of the woods. But what she wasn’t ready to see were the multiple red dots surrounding the place.
There were at least fifteen of them, flickering to show they were getting closer.
Lorcan looked down at the device, a cold, dark look coming over his features. “We’ve got company.”

thoughts on malide? they’re my fav tog ship for sure, fuck elorcan omg
My feelings about Manon/Elide are a tad complicated, which is probably not a surprise to those of you who follow my blog.
Like, on the one hand they accidentally had the best chemistry of any characters in any Sarah Janet novel ever. I'm not being hyperbolic, they are really and legitimately not just the only romantic relationship I believed in, they were the only relationship fullstop that felt real and organic, for lack of better terms. Manon and the thirteen were sketched in and not contradicted (wonder of wonders) but we didn't see those relationships develop much.
On the OTHER HAND it would be yet another immortal/teen girl relationship. Like, at least Manon is not attracted to Elide explicitly because Elide looks like a child with big boobs and is a virgin, and admittedly Manon is younger than all the fae dudes, but she's still a century plus old adult, and my feelings on that subject are well documented.
So even though I feel that Elide was written older, if you will, and more mature-seeming than basically everybody else, that idea ("she's old for her years") is used to justify a lot of grossness from men about teenage girls and is sort of a slippery slope and I feel weird about it.
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND Manon also does not treat or think of Elide as a child, so they've got that going for them.
So you see, complicated feelings.
Fuck Lorcan though FOR REAL. God he is the ACTUAL WORST. THE WORST. If I had to pick one single ToG dude to catipult into the sun it would be Lorcan.

Oh friend,
Thanks for writing such wonderful fanfics. They've been the best part of the day. I started it reading your Elorcan one-shots while in bed waking up slowly and cozily and I'll end the day in bed with multi-chapters Elorcan. Yeah, I've been in an elorcan maelstrom for the past weeks and I still don't know how can I like them so much if I have no idea about who they are in canon lol. Oh, and obviously I'm reading your fics for Aelin week✨
I've felt so lonely today, plus I didn't even accomplish what I had planned to study ugh... Sorry for ranting on your blog. When you finish writing all the projects you have/when you need inspo let me know, I would like to share prompts with you.
-starry anon🌌
❤️❤️❤️ hey starry! Thank you so much for your words and for reading. It means a lot that you can still enjoy my elorcan fics without having read the tog books fully.
I'm sorry today's not going so great. I know how that is. I hope things start to look better for you soon 💓 and thanks for your patience with my acotar posting. I will admit, I do have a stock pile of some fics to post, then I hear and see about fandom garbage and decide not to post again. Like a terrible human.
And now the inspiration train is winding down.
I am a mess. 🤦🏻‍♀️ it doesn't help that may is an emotional month for me and it's only the third.
But really, anytime you want to send prompts my way I am always eager and welcome for them!
Hopefully we can make it through together! ❤️

Making Mat: Part One
Welcome to my new Elorcan AU!! Yes, this definitely stemmed from the fact that I’ve watched Cheer like a million times, but I tried to write it so it would make sense if you haven’t seen the show. I’m so excited to share this little mini-series with you - it’ll be three parts in total!
Summary: It’s an Elorcan meets Cheer AU, because why not? Elide Lochan: member of the champion Terrasen University cheer team. Lorcan Salvaterre: serving his country in the army and Elide’s loving boyfriend. Watch their love unfold as their friends try to get him home to see her.
Warnings: Just some language, I think!
.
It was a very big day - probably the biggest day of the entire season. Well, aside from Banjali.
Elide could practically feel the entire squad buzzing with energy as she walked into the gym. She was a member of the cheer team at Terrasen University, which just so happened to be the reigning champion collegiate cheer squad - and the most decorated. They’d won more than any other team, and just making the squad was a huge honor.
But today was the day they could be granted the greatest honor of all - being chosen for mat. Even though there were forty members, only twenty of them could actually compete at the Collegiate Championship Competition in Banjali, Eyllwe. They worked hard all season - basically competing amongst themselves - to prove themselves to be deserving of one of those coveted spots.
Tossing her bag onto the bench, she was just turning to go stretch with some of the others on the mat when she was lifted into a hug from behind and spun around. She squealed in surprise, her fingers gripping the muscular arms around her waist - arms she thought belonged to her boyfriend’s best friend in the entire world. A glance down proved her suspicions were right - a mountain range was inked across his left forearm in greyscale, a perfect match to the one on Lorcan’s arm.
“Vaughan,” she giggled, “put me down.” Expecting to find her feet on the ground, she shrieked when she was tossed into the air. Reaching down to brace her hands on his shoulders, he caught her just before she hit the ground, pulling her into a tight hug as he set her down. “You’re such a pain in my ass, Osten.”
“If that’s your polite way of saying that I’m your best friend,” Vaughan started, tickling her sides and chuckling when she giggled, “then I humbly accept.”
She huffed, but nodded anyway. “Mmm, I mean, I’m basically stuck with you because of Lorcan.” He rolled his eyes, so Elide leaned up to press her lips to his cheek in a quick kiss. “I’m just kidding, love. You know I’m glad of your friendship.”
“I’m glad of yours, too.” Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, Vaughan began steering her in the direction of the mat. “Besides, as his best friend, it’s basically my duty to look after his girl while he’s gone.” Lorcan Salvaterre, Elide’s boyfriend and Vaughan’s best friend, was serving in the army, and he’d been deployed to Adarlan’s base in Melisande for almost nine months. She missed him terribly, but she was glad that she and Vaughan had become close. It was a way for the two of them to bear the weight of missing someone they both loved so much.
She giggled, coming to the stop at the edge of the mat. “And he’d kill you if anything happened to me while he was gone, right?”
“Erm, yeah, more or less.” Vaughan scratched the back of his neck and offered her a small smile. “But that’s not the only reason I’m your friend - I hope you know that.”
Taking his hand as she turned to look at the two people taking turns tumbling across the open space in front of them, she murmured, “of course I know that - but thank you.”
He squeezed her hand in a silent thank you, and then they both immediately started laughing when they realized that the two people tumbling like beasts across the floor were Fenrys and Asterin. They were the two best tumblers on the team, and it was fairly common to see them trying to out-tumble one another.
The fact that they had been dating for almost three years only seemed to make them more competitive. As Elide folded her legs and sank down onto the mat, Asterin flipped her golden ponytail over her shoulder and arched her brow at her boyfriend.
Taking the silent dare, Fenrys winked at his girlfriend and took off across the surface, his body twisting and turning through the air so quickly that Elide almost struggled to keep up. He stuck the landing with a massive smile on his face and stepped back, gesturing for Asterin to take her turn.
She did so, with all of her usual swagger in place, even going so far to blow Fenrys a kiss before she sprang into action. If his pass had been difficult to follow, then hers could only be defined as practically impossible. Elide had always considered herself to be a decent tumbler, but Asterin made her look like she had no clue what she was doing.
Slowly easing herself into a split and feeling her muscles starting to stretch, Elide watched as Asterin rounded on her boyfriend, giggling happily when he bowed his head and held his arms out to her. She launched herself at him, squealing when he caught her and spun her around.
Though she was happy for her friends, watching them be so happy together sent a pang of sadness right through her heart. Though she knew Lorcan was doing something he loved, something he was proud to do, Elide couldn’t help but wish that he was home with her.
Her mind was consumed with thoughts of him as she continued stretching, though her mood improved significantly when she remembered that he, according to his last email, was supposed to be calling her later that night. She was just thinking that she’d have to ask her coach if she could break the no phones rule when the woman stepped up to the edge of the mat and called them all to attention.
“Alright, everyone,” Evalin Ashryver Galathynius started, “I know you all know what today is - it’s Mat day. So, I won’t hold you in suspense. I have the list right here, so I’ll go through who’s actually on first, and then we’ll talk about who’s doing what.” Everyone shuffled off to the sides, leaving the center clear for those who had been chosen. “And remember,” she added, “just because you weren’t chosen doesn’t mean you’re not a valuable member of this team, okay?”
She waited for everyone to nod their agreement before reaching for the notebook on the chair behind her. Elide felt her nerves settle into the pit of her stomach, and she reached for the dark blue scrunchie flecked with little white stars on her wrist. Lorcan had given it to her - well, technically, he’d given it back, since he’d stolen it from the pack before she’d even had time to open it - before he’d left for his last deployment, and she only took it off when she absolutely had to. It was a source of comfort for her, a way for her to keep him close whenever he was gone, and it helped take the edge off her nerves.
Evalin cleared her throat. “Okay, then: boys first. The eleven of you chosen are Sam, Ilias, Enda, Ress, Galan, Luca, Dorian, Nox, Aedion, Vaughan, and Fenrys.”
Elide could see each of the boys let out a sigh of relief when they were chosen, and she realized that the moment of truth was all but upon her.
“And now, the girls.” Her coach looked up at all of them for just a moment, offering them a small smile before she read the names. “Kaya, Briar, Edda, Vesta, Lysandra, Nehemia, Aelin, Asterin, and Elide.”
Feeling the smile pulling at her lips, Elide joined her teammates in the center of the mat, hugging Fenrys quickly before Vaughan was tucking her into his side with a happy little grin on his face.
Evalin offered all of them a very happy smile as everyone else shuffled over to the back half of the gym to keep stretching. “So, I have a feeling you all know why you’ve been selected, but I’ll just go over it quickly. The stunt groups will be as follows: Elide, Fenrys, and Vaughan; Aelin, Aedion, and Nox; Vesta, Ilias, and Enda; Lysandra, Ress, and Galan; and Nehemia, Dorian, and Sam. Baskets will be all but Lysandra’s stunt group, with Lys joining Elide’s, Galan joining Aelin’s, Ress joining Nehemia’s, and Edda joining Vesta’s. Elide, Aelin, and Vesta will be the top girls in the pyramid, with Lys, Nehemia, Edda, and Briar as the other fliers. Luca, Asterin, and Kaya will be our main tumblers, though Fenrys will also be doing quite a lot as well.”
She’d been listening with rapt attention as her coach rattled off their spots, and she felt some of her nerves settle back in. Stunts, baskets, and pyramid, plus the necessary tumbling, was a lot to ask of one person, but Elide knew that she could handle it. She’d spent years training for this exact moment, and she was never one to back down from a challenge.
“Now that everything is all sorted,” Evalin began, “let’s get started on the pyramid. Take five more minutes to stretch and then we’re going to run this.”
Realizing that she’d better talk to her coach before practice really got underway, Elide jogged up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder.
Turning, the older woman offered her a smile. “Elide. What can I do for you?”
“Well,” Elide said, tossing her ponytail over her shoulder. “I sort of have a favor to ask you.”
She arched an eyebrow questioningly, and Elide idly realized that was where her daughter must have picked up on the habit - Aelin had perfected the single-eyebrow-arch before they were teenagers. “What’s up, dear?”
“Okay, so I know you have the no phones rule, but Lorcan told me he’d be able to call tonight, and I was really hoping you’d be willing to bend it a little, just for tonight.” The words rushed out of her mouth in a single breath, and Evalin blinked at her, a slight smile on her face. “I was just really hoping you could keep an eye on my phone so I don’t miss his call?”
“Elide,” Evalin finally said, interjecting before she could keep rambling. “Of course I’ll watch for him to call - I know how important this is, and I’d never want you to miss it.”
Elide grinned, a happy little hum slipping through her lips as she hugged the other woman. “Thanks, Aunt Evalin!” Though they weren’t related by blood, Evalin and Elide’s mother, Marion, were as close as sisters, and the two families spent as much time together as they did apart.
“Of course, love.” She returned the hug before nudging Elide in the direction of the rest of the team. “Now, get yourself over there, miss. I’ve got a winning routine to perfect, and you’ve got a pyramid to run through.”
“Yes, ma’am.” She handed her phone over and jogged back to the mat, taking her place between Ress and Galan for the pyramid. Both of them offered her small smiles. Though she usually stunted with Fenrys and Vaughan, her starting spot took her away from the two of them. Not that it mattered - she trusted every member of this team with her life.
“Alright, let’s do this!” Evalin yelled, clapping her hands twice and starting the music.
Waiting for her cue, Elide took a deep breath and braced her hands on the boys’ shoulders. She nodded once, held still for two counts, and then she was moving.
Being one of the top girls meant that she was constantly moving, constantly twisting and turning and flipping, being passed from one set of bases to the next to being braced on someone’s thigh or shoulders. She was rarely still, only hitting a pose for a matter of seconds before she was being tossed around again. Even though Vesta was the center top girl, the one who would be the focal point of the actual pyramid, Elide and Aelin were both given parts that were just as difficult.
She lost count of everything that was going on in the gym around her, only focusing on the pyramid and her role in it, making sure that she was doing what she needed to be doing when she was meant to be doing it.
It wasn’t until she’d been put safely back on the ground after their fifth - or was it the sixth? - run-through of the pyramid, Nehemia slinging an arm around her shoulders as they both tried to breathe, that she noticed Evalin was holding her phone in her hand. She gestured for whoever was FaceTiming her to wait for a moment before turning to face the team. “Okay, y’all, let’s take a break. Elide, someone’s on the phone for you.”
There was a loud chorus of “oooo” and “aww” echoing around her - everyone knew that she was waiting for him to call, but Elide hardly noticed. She was ducking around her teammates, all but sprinting for her coach. “Thank you, she managed to breathe before her phone was in her hands and her eyes met her boyfriend’s. “Lorcan!” she squealed, tears springing into her eyes.
“Hey beautiful,” he greeted, his normally stoic face splitting into the widest grin. “Are you crying, love?”
She sniffed, sinking to the ground and wiping the few tears that had slipped down her cheeks. “I just missed you, baby.”
He gave her a soft smile, and she noticed that there were unshed tears lining his eyes. “I miss you too, Elide.” They just stared at one another for a few moments, grateful for this time to catch up when they were apart, but eventually Lorcan broke the silence. “So, first things first - did you make mat?”
“I did! And I’ll be doing stunts, baskets, tumbling, and pyramid!”
She could see the pride filling his eyes. “I knew you would, El. I’m so proud of you, baby. Tell me everything.”
~*^*~
Vaughan watched Elide slowly sink to the ground, and the smile that spread across her face was as happy as he’d ever seen her. As he watched her keep talking, an idea was slowly forming in his head.
Grabbing Aedion’s wrist where he was leaning against the wall next to him, he dragged him over to where Fenrys, Asterin, and Aelin had flopped down on the floor. “Please tell me I’m not the only one who sees how happy Elide is right now?”
“Aww, I know,” Asterin sighed, the others nodding along with her. “She really loves him.”
“They both love each other so much,” Fenrys added.
Aedion heaved a sigh. “I wish he could be here to see her - he’d be beyond proud of how talented she is.”
Vaughan nodded, a small smirk spreading over his face. Aelin noticed, and she raised an eyebrow at him. “What are you thinking over there, Vaughan?”
“What if we found a way to bring Lorcan home to see her - and us - cheer?”
The others were all telling him that they thought it was a wonderful idea when Elide’s voice reached them “Fenrys, Vaughan!” she yelled, waving them over. “Get your asses over here - Lor wants to talk to you!”
Agreeing to table the discussion for the moment, the two of them jogged toward Elide, though Vaughan knew that the gears were still turning in Fenrys’s head, just like they were still turning in his.
Whatever it took, he would find a way to bring his best friend home to see his girl.
