Throw in scaring and indoctrinating children into the mix when it comes to video ads as groups have learned that's a great way to get kids who don't know how to skip ads to watch 15+ minutes of propaganda without a parent knowing, too.
i think it should be illegal to not allow an adblocker on your site and im not kidding
#i've heard of some such ads that are over an hour long#not to mention the disturbing af ads that when called out in a youtube video#ends up with that video being pulled for 'disturbing conduct' but the ad itself is still in rotation and not considered an issue#there was also a bunch of pro-crypto ads going around when crypto was big#plus all the shien/temu ads when those companies are sketchy as fuck and advertising was a shotgun approach#i started way back when animated banner ads were the hot new thing and one had malware in it that affected people who saw it#turns out adblock is also handy in blocking bad images and making internet design less hostile too#at least tv commercials are vetted and have to meet certain standards#internet/in-app ads can be anything and any length and contain pretty much anything#i really do not need to see maggots being pulled from disney elsa's feet yet again#if ad carriers refuse to curate what they sell then i will curate it for them
