I am ever so happy for the Julie Sees Pattersons And Luke Crying On His Birthday And Comes Back To The Band but uhh never sat right with me that neither Luke or Reggie or Alex had to actually make up for her.
like yeah Julie saw Luke in a vulnerable moment and got to understand how being a band meant for him. But Luke didn't saw her getting booed and laughed in front of her school, after overcoming her fear and blockage that came from her grief, especially after Luke being the one to motivate her to it.
my girl deserved more than a Luke Has Feelings Too scene. Which. I love. Don't miss the point here. But I needed to see, not only Julie being open to forgive him and play the gig he played, but also Luke taking the moment to realize his dismissal and his relevance on Julie's relationship with music.
A relationship that used to be based on her mom being there to walk with her, but her mom is not there anymore and Julie needs to walk by herself, and if she doesn't have to do it alone, as her band doesn't, or at least, wouldn't want her to have to do it, they have to walk with her. And that means walking the steps that are important for her. A school dance might not be big as a open mic night to managers and industry hotshots, but it was the step where Julie was left at, she gotta complete it.
In spirit of that, i wanted Luke to hustle his way into making up for her, maybe try to insanely communicate with Flynn through haunting her or writing chicken scratch creepy notes, but get her somehow to help him set up a gig for them at the school, bc Flynn would most definitely do it for Julie, and have it be the moment Julie lost at their expense. Not that Julie shouldn't have played the open mic night, not what i mean, But this should've happened too.
plus i really needed that fire ep 5 julie outfit t use!!!!
