Today is International Asexuality Day! As we take a moment to recognize everyone within the asexual umbrella, let's also recognize the immense journey that many ace people take in the process of discovering their identity.

This can include asexuality, demisexuality, gray asexuality, and other identities that fall within the ace spectrum.

It's important to remember that being asexual does not solely define how a person may intertwine sexual connection into their relationships. And while some asexual people do not desire to engage in sexual connection, others may. As with all other aspects of your identity, you get to define what being asexual means to you!

In a transphobic online world, be an ally!

As we get closer to Trans Day of Visibility, we as trans and non-binary people need our allies more than ever! Visibility can be so personal and beautiful, but can also sometimes feel heavy and even dangerous.

Now is the time for our allies to stand with us in our visibility. And to stand up for trans people who cannot be visible.

March is Women's History Month!

As we uplift the women in our lives, it's important to remember that this celebration of women's history includes trans and gender-diverse women.

We remember the work of transgender activists like Marsha P. Johnson & Silvia Rivera. But also the work of amazing artists like Wendy Carlos who played a vital role in the soundtracks for films like The Shining (1980) and Tron (1982).

The Destruction of the Institute for Sexual Science

Founded in 1919 by Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld, the Institute for Sexual Science (Institut für Sexualwissenschaft) was revolutionary. The Institute was more than just a research center—it was a safe haven.

It provided some of the world’s earliest gender-affirming healthcare, including hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries. It offered psychological counseling, legal aid, and a space for people to exist as their true selves without fear.

For many of us in the trans community, the current wave of anti-trans legislation and rhetoric feels like an overwhelming storm—but this isn’t an accident.

March is Bisexual+ Health Awareness Month

And while bisexual people make up a large part of the LGBTQ+ community, many bi+ people face unique challenges that go largely unheard.

Bi+ Health Awareness Month was first recognized in March of 2014 by the Bisexual Resource Center and since then has aimed to raise awareness about the physical and mental health disparities faced by bisexual people. 💖💜💙

Bisexuality is intersectional, bisexuality is trans-inclusive, and bisexual people deserve care, love, support, and inclusion!

While 2024 is coming to a close, we want to take a moment to remind you that trans people have always been here, we're here today, and we will still be here tomorrow!

No amount of transphobic rhetoric can erase our existence or our experiences.

As we move into the new year together, there's no better time than now for us to lift up transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people and their voices!

The second week of November marks the start of Transgender Awareness Week! Officially recognized between November 13th and 19th and concluding on Transgender Day of Remembrance, it gives our community an opportunity to increase awareness around the issues and harmful rhetoric we face so often as trans people. With access to gender-affirming healthcare under repeated attack, it's so important to keep our voices loud and clear. Gender-affirming care is life saving! And we are unapologetically trans: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

It's Asexual Awareness Week (or Ace Week)! The experiences of asexual people have historically faced erasure in conversations about sexuality and identity.

It's also important to remember that the various presentations of asexuality (like gray-asexuality and demisexuality) are not a monolithic representation of all ace people's lived experience. Many transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people are part of the asexual spectrum. So, just in case no one has told you today, you are a deeply important part of this community and your experience matters!
