Hi! Me again (so sorry to bother you)

Since I'm new to Tumblr and I have no clue how to use it and I'm just bullsh*tting my way around it, I had the brilliant idea to change my username, but now all the links to the posts are no longer working? Because they still send to the posts with the old username and it no longer exists?

You're an expert on this, so my question is: how do I make them work again without going back to the old name?

It's probably a very stupid question, but I really don't know what I'm doing rn, except for panicking.

hey no worries! tumblr is dumb and doesnt automatically change everything, so you have to manually change things. im not sure which links you are talking about, so im going to be talking about all the ones i think you might be talking about:

for links in a post:

1. go to your blog and find the post

2. click the pencil icon

3. place your cursor anywhere on your linked text

4. an " edit | remove | open" toggle should pop up

5. press edit and edit the beginning of your url to your current user i.e. https://abc.tumblr.com/post.... >> https://xyz.tumblr.com/post... make sure you leave everything else the same!

6. save your post! (make sure you do this step!!)

for links in your blog description:

1. go to your desktop theme (click on your blog, where it pops up like a side window, and then click your blog user again at the top. your desktop blog should open in a new window) (you can also just type in your url into the browser like "abc.tumblr.com")

2. click on the lil bob ross palette in the top right corner (its usually hidden -- you gotta move your cursor to the top right and itll pop right up. if it doesnt try using a different browser bc tumblr is a broken hellsite)

3. youre now in the "customize" page aka the main editing hub of your blog. you should see a giant text box labeled as " appearance options" w your blog title and descr.

4. edit your link html code: <a href="https://abc.tumblr.com/...">[text]</a> to <a href="https://xyz.tumblr.com/...">[text]</a>

5. hit the blue save button and you can exit the window ✨ (you know its saved once the save goes grey)

for links in your navigation/sidebar desktop theme:

1. you gotta go to your customize "customize" page aka the main editing hub of tumblr (steps 1-3 from "links in your blog description")

2. scroll down to your "theme options" (it should be right under a giant text box labeled as " appearance options")

3. find the link you wanna fix and edit your tumblr url like: https://abc.tumblr.com/ ... >> https://xyz.tumblr.com/...

4. hit the blue save button and you can exit the window ✨ (you know its saved once the save goes grey)

for links in your blog page:

1. you gotta go to your customize "customize" page aka the main editing hub of tumblr (steps 1-3 from "links in your blog description")

2. scroll all the way down. you should see your page at the bottom after your links. click into the page

3. a new interface should pop up. place your browser to the link you wanna fix. click on the highlighted sideways infinity

4. edit your tumblr url like: https://abc.tumblr.com/ ... >> https://xyz.tumblr.com/...

5. REMEMBER TO CLICK UPDATE LINK!!!!!!

6. once youre done w all the tomfoolery (and seriously regretting your url change), remember to click the blue save button on the top right! you can exit the window once youre done ✨

TIPS: if you double click on your user, tumblr automatically highlights just your user, so you can just copy your tumblr user and just double click and ctrl+v to speedrun through this process.
