The Boat of Flowers - Ploumanach Regatta

Description
The annual regatta at Ploumanac'h in Brittany is highlighting a boat decked out with flowers and an athletic young man in swimming trunks. Interestingly, the flower boat is flying a Japanese flag as well as the French tricolor, and two Japanese women, one holding a parasol, are visible in the stern of the boat, a reflection, perhaps, of the craze for Japanese art and culture that spread through Europe in the late 19th century and had been a key influence on Denis, van Gogh and others.
