To the anon who wants people not to "spam" drabbles on AO3. I'm sorry if I'm not sympathetic to your plight as a writer who got loaded with a lot of anxieties and insecurities around writing and posting thanks to fandom. If it's too much posting, it's too little. Write more of this kink/trope/subject/ship/fandom. Write less of this kink/trope/subject/ship/fandom. Do this. Do that. Stop doing that. Start doing this. Post drabbles as one fic. Post drabbles in anthologies. Jada jada jada. It seems no matter what you do as a writer you're doing it wrong in someones eyes. You're supposed to be courteous to people who won't do the same back so you'll have to excuse me if I'll just do whatever the fuck I want and post at my own pace and if I'm feeling good writing 10 drabbles and not pacing out the posting cause I have other shit on my mind beside accidentally "spaming the tag" of an archive, you'll just have to block me then. I'm not sad to loose you as a reader to be quite honest.

Who knew the woke would be this quick to defy logic with more ignorance and stupidity?
Honestly, not at all surprised. I would be more surprised if they didn't try it. As Robin DiAngelo says:
https://robindiangelo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Anti-racism-handout-1-page-2016.pdf
• Racism must be continually identified, analyzed and challenged; no one is ever done • The question is not ”did racism take place”? but rather “how did racism manifest in that situation?”
If you didn't spot the racism, then you're the problem. Hence the rush to find it, or conjure it ex nihilo.
But have you noticed that the "accountability!" people are extremely selective with whom they'll hold accountable? Which is why a professor of Communications needs to lose his job for speaking Chinese, while Will Smith has activists rushing to absolve him of responsibility. It honestly resembles religious apologetics. The Communications professor sent himself to hell. Will Smith isn't a true sinner.
And I realize he has subsequently apologized and then resigned from the Academy. But that was of his own volition, rather than demands from the mob; on the contrary, they were making excuses for him, as this article did.
But let’s not forget why all this started in the first place. In case there was any confusion, alopecia is absolutely a disability, and one that Black women are more prone to.
No, it's not a disability. Just saying so doesn't mean it is, and pretending diminishes the plight of those with actual disabilities. And I say that as someone who's had alopecia.
Whether or not Rock knew about Pinkett Smith’s condition, the politics of Black women’s hair is well known to be a historically fraught and often traumatising topic (he should know – he made a documentary about it in 2009).
Trauma, really? Black women are that fragile? Well, that just makes it okay, then. Chris Rock had it coming. He should, nay, did, know better. (This is implicitly an implementation of "words are violence"; you say something I don't like, I hit you in the face, and we're even.)
You can't shave your head as an act of empowerment, then act the victim when people notice it.
It’s also not just about what Smith did; it’s where he did it and who was watching. Anyone who has been following these shows can see that Smith is being held up to much stricter standards than white men who have behaved just as badly or even worse in those settings.
He retook his seat, was comforted by others, including Denzel Washington, and then collected his Oscar. The only consequences so far are those he instigated himself. Remember when Kid Rock and Tommy Lee got into it? One was ejected, the other stormed out. Kid Rock was charged over the incident. Will Smith is certainly not being held to the same standard - but it's lower. John Wayne didn't have a multitude of Twits making excuses for him; people actually stood up and got in his way. What did Jada do?
The rest of the article basically rationalizes his actions, while simultaneously being very hyperbolic.
I also find it hard to believe that the same white audiences who consume violence against Black people on screen to an almost fetishistic degree...
Really??
For Black people who have been conditioned to constantly perform the most non-threatening version of themselves in order to retain white approval, the image of a Black man being “violent” in a space notorious for its overwhelming whiteness must have felt like an abomination. The ESPN commentator Stephen A Smith lambasted the actor on Twitter for “staining” the greatest moment of his career, before taking to a video to express his disappointment.
It was the fucking Oscars. The Oscars. The highest awards for the film industry. Not some backyard barbecue.
Wayne got to keep his awards after the incident, but pending a review, Smith could very well have his historic best actor win revoked.
Wait, it's historic now? You can't have it both ways.
Somehow, a violent interaction between two black men needs to focus on the behavior of white people. All while not just ignoring the victim, but blaming him.
The mental gymnastics are astounding.
The following TikTok was posted over a year ago during the uptick in anti-Asian violence, but particularly in response to occurrences of black perpetrators committing that violence.
https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/m9otnb/i_hoped_this_was_satire_but_a_look_at_her_other/
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the face of neoracism. Sanctimonious, condescending, and full of the bigotry of low expectations.
Never mind that the anti-Asian violence was fuelled by Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality, which positions Asian people as "white-adjacent" oppressors on the Matrix of Oppression, and thus violence against them is "punching up." At least a couple of attacks I've heard of had the attacker rambling about the Asian person's "privilege."
https://twitter.com/peterboghossian/status/1379286714775183361
Imagine how divorced from reality one would be to believe that we must not treat individuals as individuals but instead “see color,” and then blame the recent surge in racial violence, particularly against Asians, on white supremacy.
A phenomenal response to the above girl, who subsequently deleted, is one posted by Savannah Edwards (thisissavvy).
"You said in your TikTok 'white supremacy has many mouthpieces.' Have you looked in the mirror? Do you have any idea what you're saying?
You're basically saying that minorities are incompetent. We are incapable of understanding the consequences of our actions. That we lack mens rea.
What you're saying is white supremacy.
Does white supremacy even have meaning any more?
You are saying that white people are the dominant race in America, that white people set the tone for behavior in society, and that in order for minorities to act right, white people have to act right.
That we lack the mental capacity to understand that right is right and wrong is wrong. That in order for us to really understand what is right and what is wrong, we need white people to define that for us.
I don't like to throw the word 'white supremacy' around because I feel like it's losing its meaning, but you are a white supremacist. You fit the definition perfectly.
My heart breaks for you because I understand that's not your intention. You need to take a quick look in the mirror. You are everything you're preaching against."
At this point, "white supremacy" appears to just be the equivalent of "god did it" in the current cultural tone.
https://twitter.com/TitaniaMcGrath/status/1281023987242487808
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be clear, actual white supremacists certainly exist, and we can and should rebuke them. But they have, by and large, been relegated to the edges of society. And it's not what these people are talking about.
“STOP: When we use the term White supremacy, we are not referring to extreme hate groups or “bad racists.” We use the term to capture the all-encompassing dimensions of White privilege, dominance, and assumed superiority in mainstream society.”
Sensoy/DiAngelo, “Is Everyone Really Equal?”
In this sense, "white supremacy" is like "the patriarchy" and the monster in the dryer who steals your socks. As with the "god did it" explanation in the world of the creationist, is an argument from ignorance. It neatly fills the gap between what is and what someone of the appropriate mindset/activism would prefer.
Either the cause of imaginary problems, like veganism, milk and men sitting comfortably, or univariate, ignorant and faith-based explanations for actual phenomena, such as lower black academic performance (a problem) or new mothers preferring not to work full time... or at all (not a problem, but contributes to the gender earnings gap).
At this point the "white supremacy" lunacy is obscuring real discussions, such as those on mental health, particularly that of men, who are 75-80% of suicides - and where the answers are either "LoL mALe tEaRs" or femsplaining to men that they should process their feelings the "correct" way, which is the way women do - and black men, where the topic is nigh-on taboo.
Will Smith is clearly going through stuff. His wife's condition has hit him hard, and supporting her has taken its toll on him. Now he's out of the Academy.
Chris Rock was the target and victim of an assault. Words are words. Violence is violence. Even Jada herself did not have the right to hit him, no matter what he said or how tasteless or offensive she found it.
The whole thing is sad for everyone involved. Nobody won. But sure, "wHiTe sUpReMaCy!1!!"
If you're on that hobby-horse, it's time to get off. Like prayer, you might feel good doing it, but it'll get you nowhere.

This is Afrofuturism
Tumblr media
Afrofuturism is the escape I never knew I needed. This course has brought something unique and important to academia. It is an excellent way to highlight Blackness that in my education career has been lacking. Traditional education is a sprinkle of Blackness here and there in a white hegemonic setting. Black education looks like slavery, civil rights, Martin Luther King versus Malcolm X, and maybe a dash of police brutality. The story that is told about Blackness and Black history is riddled with struggle and although that is a major foundation resulting from white supremacy, that is not our whole story. I thoroughly enjoy that Afrofuturism addresses the plight of Black people with a critique and presents a vision for our future. An afrofuturist history education looks like Black Panther, Lion’s Blood, Cosmic Slop, and Many Moons. Yes, slavery is a hundreds of years story for Black Americans, but it is Afrofuturism. Enslaved Africans used music, song, and dance to time their work, to uplift their spirits, and communicate in code to coordinate secret meetings and escape in what looked like a good time to their masters and praises to Jesus. Enslaved Africans envisioned themselves in a space and time beyond what they saw before their eyes. These works embody this completely by considering history but putting a twist on it. From imagining Africa having never been colonized to white people being enslaved by Muslim Africans.
Afrofuturism also brings Black women into the light. The groundwork that Black women put into pursuing liberation is often overlooked. As my friend Jada puts it, Shuri ran so that T’Challa could walk! And this is often the story not told. Black women were central to Wakanda in all aspects, in leading, protecting, cultivating, and innovating. Throughout the film, you will find Black women putting in work. During slavery, Black women would cornrow maps onto their heads, beautifully constructing routes to freedom. Woven in their braids would be seeds or rice so they could feed themselves along the way. In Janelle Monae’s Dirty Computer, she displays resistance to brainwashing, memory erasing, sexual, symbolic, and physical violence. Her work embodies [Black] women’s empowerment and Black women’s liberation which comes with the liberation of all. Black women are bad mamma jammas, but we are also soft in pynk.
At the end of each day, as Kendrick says, we gon be aight! Our resilience is demonstrated time and time again. Afrofuturism is our past, present, and future in one and it is the education that I absolutely needed. It is what you need, have a seat...

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/whats-next-times-metoo-movements/
What's next for Time's Up and #MeToo movements
If you are a mover and shaker in Hollywood, want to be a mover and shaker in Hollywood or follow the happenings in Hollywood just for kicks, then you know that the last few months have been a whirlwind of craziness. This is mostly due to the outing and ousting of hundreds of powerful Hollywood men who have been found to be sexual predators to the 100th power. After the Harvey Weinstein story, we saw an onslaught of accusations followed by firings, criminal charges, ethics investigations, and dismissals. Needless to say, the women who finally stepped up and made their voices known started something that was a long time coming. Emotions have been all over the place since. The initial shock by industry professionals and fans quickly turned to outrage, anger, disgust and for some, relief. For people like actress Rose McGowen, who has never been quiet about much of anything, the attention given to the prevalent rape culture or the pay to play (of sorts) policy that countless Hollywood heavy hitters used to get their rocks off is bittersweet. While most allegations against Weinstein were attempts at sexual assault, unwanted harassment, or inappropriate behavior, in her case, according to the actress, the man actually raped her. Her story, along with that of other well-known and not so well-known women, have shaped the current conversation about this awful open Hollywood secret. The breaking of the Weinstein story has inspired several hashtag movements; the most popular of them being #metoo, long created by social activist Tarana Burke and made popular by Alyssa Milano in October 2017, and #timesup, which became a rallying cry for women during the 2018 Golden Globes. Other women who have been fortunate enough to escape the grips of famous sexual predators have stood in solidarity, especially during the industry’s first big awards ceremony of the year where the thing to do was wear black this past Sunday. I am here for the support that the victims/survivors are finding in those that sympathize with their plights, but solidarity is not enough. At this point, as fewer men are accused on a daily basis in the media of being monsters, where do we go from here? What now? I ask this question because I believe in seizing the moment so that the impetus gained from such a powerful movement can be capitalized on for the greater good. We have pinpointed the people who have done wrong (and are still doing so as James Franco was recently found to be a sexual predator as well). Most of them are out of positions of power, thankfully. Folks have stepped up and shown their support emotionally, physically, and some even monetarily. Also, using individual platforms to bring awareness to the things that were happening behind closed doors in the offices and hills of Hollywood is helpful. But what can be done to turn the tide? How can we ensure that the kind of behavior that has crippled woman after woman and robbed many of their dignity, careers and, unfortunately, lives, ceases to be a thing within the coming years? Well, it all comes down to access. Men are the gatekeepers to reaching the top of the latter in Hollywood. As such, many of those who have amassed the most power and the most money monopolized a woman’s ability to have access as an actress, writer, producer, etc. by abusing their positions. To really move forward from this point and to maintain that gross Hollywood men’s time is truly up, it’s going to take women in powerful positions to create opportunities so that the up and comings don’t have to go through questionable men to get ahead in their careers. This is how #metoo and #timesup will be more than trending hashtags for a few months. Reese Witherspoon gets this and is a great example of an A-List actress who knows a thing or two about creating avenues for women creatives to travel that are less likely to land them in someone’s hotel room or in someone’s dimly lit office. Witherspoon had a noteworthy professional year in 2017, and a big part of it seems to have something to do with the creation of her production company, Hello Sunshine. According to the multitalented actress, “…Hello Sunshine is all based on telling stories about women by women. So, we want to create more opportunity and hire more female directors and more female writers.” She told People that her goal is to promote and elevate women in 2018 and beyond. Her HBO, female-led show Big Little Lies was not only a huge hit, but it also showed just how powerful and effective talented women can be when given the chance to lead. Witherspoon, along with other popular female actresses, has made it her goal to provide ways for women to have the access they need to do things on their terms and succeed. It’s this kind of action that is going to stop Hollywood sexual predators in their tracks. Imagine a situation where women don’t need to go through men to make things happen or have their stories told. Rose McGowan highly criticized Meryl Streep’s idea to wear black at the Golden Globes in solitary of the #metoo movement. She addressed the veteran actress, via Twitter (the tweet has since been deleted), “Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @goldenglobes in a silent protest. YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real chance. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa." (Marchesa is Weinstein’s ex-wife’s clothing line). Her relentlessness and position on the subject are understandable, and her call out of other female actresses to do more than lip service is not shade or pettiness on her part. It’s a real response from someone whose life has been turned upside down as a result of sexual assault and serves as a valid point of contemplation. And it’s a point that more people are finding solutions for thanks to the women who were brave enough to speak their truths. As the overall situation continues to unfold, I am looking to the Witherspoons, Streeps, Jada Pinkett-Smiths, Shona Rhimes’ and more to throw their influence behind initiatives and programs that put women in the driver seat of their professional destinies; creating a glorious world where we no longer having to rely on the intentions of famous, powerful men to live out our Hollywood dreams.

Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Welcome Their First Baby Together Via Surrogate! – Perez Hilton
A big congrats are in order for Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade, who have just welcomed their first child together via surrogate!
The actress took to Instagram on Thursday to share the splendid news, pairing the announcement with a few cute photos of the couple holding the newborn at the hospital.
Video: Jada Pinkett Smith & Gabrielle Laugh Off Their ‘Petty’ Feud!
The caption contained lyrics to the song Lovely Day by Bill Withers, along with a delightful message reading:
“We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!”
The new addition comes after a frustrating few years for the couple as they struggled to conceive. In her 2017 book, Gabby revealed that she suffered over eight miscarriages in recent years as she and the Miami Heat star tried to have a child using IVF.
Their plight almost caused the actress to give up her dreams of having a baby altogether, until they decided to use a surrogate. This is the actresses first child and the athlete’s fourth. The pair have been dating since 2009 and tied the knot in 2014.
Warm wishes to the beautiful family! See the adorable baby pics (below).

Sarah Todd Palin quietly divorced earlier this year To be fair, Putin saw this coming… from his house. the mystery that is marriage
WOW watching Will and Jada talk about what was wrong with their marriage when to the outside world (even to Jada's mom) Jada had everything she ever wanted - a perfect family, a perfect home, perfect jobs, a perfect husband. That resounds so deeply within me because I always struggle with that. Why does my mom seem to have a thirst to be understood and satisfied that never seems to be quenched. My dad was everything. He gave her financial support for every dream she had for us. She wanted us to go to Montessori, he funded and supported it. She wanted us to learn how to roller blade, cycle, play tennis, go for art classes, go for piano lessons etc etc and the list goes on. He not only was a career man but he came home to cook and clean too. To us growing up and to everyone around, their marriage was perfect. When the parents of my friends gave me lifts home and I'd sit there with the parents in complete silence, I'd think back to my house and be ever so grateful that my parents were always holding hands, always talking. So when my mom said to me that she was unsatisfied and incomplete, that completely confounded me. I thought to myself - mom, you are so greedy and demanding. What could you possibly want that you do not have? But watching this honest and raw video today brought everything to light. It was when Jada said this "You can’t expect anybody to love you more than you love yourself. We expect other people to do the work for us, but you have to be the thing you’re asking for." Will had been trying so hard to make her happy - not only in the material sense: for her 40th, he'd sourced out some never-before-seen tapes of Jada's grandmother and pieced together a documentary of Jada's life thinking that "yes! this is what will bring my wife out of the dumps!" But Jada was not happy. It was then that she realised that Will was never going to be able to make her happy if she herself didn't know what she wanted and needed. At the end of the video, Will was affirming Jada on her achievement with this Red Table, a place in which people could come together to unpack deep-seated hurts and brokenness and hopefully reach some reconciliation with themselves. He said "You have found something with this Red Table and this space that I tried my damndest to build for you. The space where you thoroughly fully honestly be you. It is the joy that I always hoped you have." At the end of the day, it wasn't anything that Will had done to bring Jada the happiness she was looking for. It was she herself who discovered the authenticity that she needed to be truly happy, and it was he who allowed her to find it for herself.
Another thing I learnt from their marriage was that two people needn't be remotely similar to be with one another. I often struggle with that with Doug and I. He being fascinated and passionate about things and activities (his car, his mtbing, his various activities) and me being more introspective and finding greatest joy in reaching profound truths in videos like this. Sure, I may enjoy adventuring and exploring the world just as much as he does, but at the end of the day, it is in the immaterial and abstract that I find myself. Even then, this doesn't mean that we're too different to be with each other. As Will and Jada have found; it is okay to be different people. Their yearly vacation is split into two - 10 days with Will climbing some volcano and traveling to this and that temple and 10 days with Jada sitting around the same table, with the same people, listening to the same music, wearing the same sweaters. But that's okay. For the longest time I'd been deceived into believing that I had to find a guy who was fundamentally the same as me. But I've realised that it's okay that we're so different. What matters most is understanding. While Jada was off doing her own personal reflection, Will was doing his own work too. At the end of his personal growth journey, he realised one simple truth: that the key to a relationship is understanding your partner’s plight. There is nothing greater for a human being than to feel understood. He concluded the talk with this: ‘You know why I never got divorced? Cus I’ve never met anyone like you and I knew if I wasn’t with you I’d be searching in vain for the rest of my life.’ Beautiful, heart-wrenching stuff. That is the stuff of dreams.
