Looking back at my high points of 2019, this moment was definitely one of them! Thanks to @newwaveart (the creators of the u.go plein air painting box and my favorite palette). The air was electric. Growing crowds of people bustling about trying to get the best photo of the Brooklyn Bridge. Using wonderful @trekell_art_supplies brushes I was zoned into my painting, in a bubble of unawareness of individuals stopping to get a closer look at what I was doing. A street over I knew artist Arron Thompson (@paintlanguage ) was going through the same thing, adding to the feeling of being on a mission. I am drawn the our sage brush (also known as rabbit brush or chamisa) each season and color. It’s part of the lure of the southwest for me. On the Trail- Emerald Pools 12x9” I did the Emerald Pools hikes earlier this year. The Middle and Upper trails had been closed for 10 yrs due to landslides. This scene is on the Middle trail going down to the Lower. Words escape me on being able to describe what I seen so I will try painting. Also the @zionnps trail crews are hands down the best of the best. You should see the red rock and trail carving they did on these routes to make then accessible again- I bow to your mastery!
