So Blue To Me  I dedicate this to displaying my empathy for those who lost so much so quickly. The lives of those affected by Hurricane Helene, especially in the Blue Ridge Mountains, are indescribable. Many lost family members. Many survivors sleep in tents where their homes once stood. Please Continue To Follow the Rules

In 2022,  I am wondering how any serving PM could lift restrictions and think it okay when they know the pandemic is continuing to spread and we all continue to be affected.

Scientists in the UK have urged Downing Street to reconsider its actions under the current plan to lift all restrictions since the decision could have an overwhelmingly damaging impact in England. (Source: metro.co.uk)

Since the 24th February, 2022 the lifting of restrictions day, we have already seen an unprecedented number of daily cases; in one day it reached a total of 103,000.

On our part, we should continue to ignore what is being asked of us and work on what the science and the scientists are telling us, that masks protect us from catching Covid. The most important measure is the wearing of masks. Please consider wearing a covering in either an enclosed or crowed space.

For thousands of us like me who continue to juggle mental health with our physical issues, we are now permanently confined to our homes. We have lost our liberty by the UK lifting the very measures that are keeping us safe, measures that have proven to keep us safe.

Initially, when the UK PM informed the UK it was lifting all precautionary measures, it was met with dismay from independent scientists. At the time other countries, such as Australia, Greece and Spain were also beginning to question why the UK PM was taking such a measure.

Whilst everyone agrees we have to get on with our lives, to ignore the fact that the virus exists, isn’t clever. When you read about the ever increasing and rising cases in the UK, it is important to think about the virus, your own mortality. Continuing to wear a mask is a small price, if it means it stops you from getting sick. Covid is untreatable, you also have to remember that.

Go with caution, because we all have more to lose if we catch the virus. Also, the more the UK don’t wear masks, the more the vulnerable and the clinically vulnerable will be stuck in their homes.

Politics is a messy business, even messier when it becomes obvious, the decisions that are being taken have nothing to do with common sense and everything to do with appeasing one’s own party to get ahead.

In the longer term of course, lifting all restrictions is a lethal combination and with thousands of vulnerable people are on the other side of that, our struggles continue. Food for thought today, please continue to mask up.

KINKTOBER ‘22 - Gentle

Day 24: Virginity with Muriel.

  The candles were lit, filling the hut with warm, ambient light. The curtains were shut, and the door was definitely locked.

  It didn’t surprise you much when he admitted to being a virgin, and despite his worries you didn’t judge him for it. Not one bit. Instead, you listened as he explained that he wanted his first time to be special, romantic, and he wanted to put aside an evening for it… make a date out of it. He said it nervously, as if he was worried he was being selfish, but you wanted nothing more than to celebrate him, pamper him, and make his first time as memorable as it could be.

  “I’m…” he said in a low whisper, his voice reverberating in his chest as he felt a strong mix of nerves, but also excitement. He was much more excited than he could’ve guessed. “I’m ready.”

  “It may feel difficult at first, just remember to relax and take deep breaths.”

  “Y-yeah… okay. Deep breaths…”

  When you began pushing in, he made a surprised little noise, though his lips were sealed shut. He exhaled sharply through his nose.

  “R-right, it’s just…”

  You waited for him to continue, stopping just in case.

"Hey Marinette," Adrien greeted with a friendly smile, which said girl sheepishly returned. "Can I talk to you for a moment? ... In private?"

Marinette's mind went into a jumbling mess of possibilities regarding why he would want to see her "in private."

Doing her utmost to appear calm, she nodded and squeaked out, "Of course!" before following him to a secluded area.

Adrien stopped once he found a good spot and Marinette, who was too distracted to fully pay attention to her surroundings, smacked straight into his back.

"S-sorry," Marinette squeaked again, jumping back to create some space between them.

Adrien chuckled and instantly forgave her, of course.

For a moment, there was an awkward pause while Marinette waited for Adrien to organize his thoughts.

"So," he began. "There's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now."

Immediately, Marinette's heart went into overdrive and her hands began to shake. She hid her hands behind her back and clenched them, trying her best to act like everything was cool, even though she was basically panicking and dying on the inside.

"Oookay," Marinette said awkwardly, trying to prompt him to continue when she realized he was waiting on some kind of response from her.

"To be honest, I first truly realized it when you designed Jagged Stone's album cover," he began, before pausing and thinking some more.

Even though he had only started speaking. Marinette wanted his explanation to go faster; the suspense was like murder, so she nodded in encouragement for him to keep going. Why was he taking his time with this? Just spit it out in a garbled mess, like I do! Marinette wished in her mind.

Backtracking, Adrien said, "Wait, no. It was probably when you won the derby hat competition." He nodded in satisfaction at his new revelation.

Marinette bit her lip.

"Honestly, I've known for so long how amazing you are," Adrien mused with a chuckle.

Marinette felt her face warm up, her heart hammering even harder against her chest. Did people die from their heart breaking out of their chests? In that moment, Marinette felt like it might be possible.

"And yet, I only recently came to a realization," he continued. "Which is silly. I should have realized it sooner, like when I found out you had tons of pictures of me in your bedroom."

Marinette was torn between fainting on the spot or running away. Realized what?!

Fortunately, she chose neither and somehow managed to remain conscious and standing still, despite impatience and something akin to fear running through her veins.

"But once I realized it, it felt great!" He beamed. "And probably the reason I didn't know sooner was because I haven't ever felt this way about a friend before."

 Oh goodness gracious.

"And I'm relieved, because I already know you feel the same way towards me."

 WAIT, WHAT? HE KNOWS?!

Adrien paused, feeling concerned for his speechless, red, flabbergasted friend. "Are you okay, Marinette?"

Marinette nodded dramatically and blurted, "Pleasecontinue!"

Realizing she was probably just being her usual somewhat strange self, he returned to his line of thought.

"Anyway, I just wanted to tell you this: Marinette, I am a huge fan of yours!"

His sunny sweet smile that resulted from his confession was blinding. Marinette nearly melted at the sight, before she returned to thinking and processed what he just said.

... A fan?

All that buildup and secrecy and mental torture just to tell her that he was her fan?!

Marinette didn't know whether to be annoyed or cry.

She did her best to choose neither.

Mustering a weak smile, Marinette replied, "W-wow. That's great. I'm so flattered... thanks, Adrien."

Suddenly, Adrien pulled her into a warm, friendly hug, which she awkwardly returned.

"Wow, this is amazing. It feels like we follow each other on Tumblr. Like, we're mutuals, you know?" Adrien gushed into her hair.

Marinette hummed in half-hearted agreement.

Pulling away, they looked at each other silently for a brief moment.

"Hey, maybe we should follow each other on Tumblr?"

Marinette nodded while screaming internally, but eventually calmed down with time as rational thoughts slowly poured back into her brain.

He may not have confessed his undying love to her, but the fact that he thought she was amazing enough to become her fan was something, right? Definitely a step in the right direction, as it meant that he had noticed and paid attention to her.

And hey, if they followed each other on social media, it would give her more chances to bond with him.

Maybe his confession wasn't as disappointing as she initially thought.

Maybe his confession was the beginning of something more...

(Or maybe it was hopeless? Who knows.)
