Angel Dust x Artist!Reader

After one of Charlie’s…interesting exercises, Vaggie suggests that the group should do therapy art, since y’know, it calms the soul. And Charlie couldn’t be more eager to do so!

The lobby was set up with canvases, paints, brushes, everything you could need!

Unlike most of Charlie’s previous activities, almost everyone was willing to participate, although Husk and Alastor kinda stood off to the side and watched.

Charlie was painting a cartoon version of Razzle and Dazzle, Vaggie was painting a sunset based off of the lesbian flag, Pentious was painting him in his war machine taking over Hell, and Niffty? Eh.. You don’t wanna know..

You on the other hand? Stood in front of your canvas, clueless, “Y’know, I could model for you..” Angel says into your ear.

Your head turned to face him “Sure.” You say nonchalantly before turning back to your canvas.

“Wait really?-”

“Just please keep your clothes on.”

Eventually you had moved your stuff over to the other side of the lobby so Angel could pose on the couch.

He had a soft smirk, as he layed on the couch, his arm propping up his face. Although, he began to get fidgety, messing with his fluff.

“Stop moving.” You said with a soft smile.

Angel kept messing his fluff. “Ange!”

“Gee, sorry!” He said, chuckling, moving his arm back to its original position.

“So uh, how’d you get into all this?” Angel asked as the sketching of your pencil went to a stop and you began actually painting it. “College, back when I was alive I wanted to be an art therapist.” You explained.

“Fitting.” He murmured. For the most part, it was silent, a comforting silence though, the presence of each other was oddly soothing.

“Okay.” You muttered, squiggling your signature down at the bottom of the canvas quickly, “I’m done.” You announce to him, turning the canvas around to show him.

Angel perks up immediately, amazed by your skill, he slowly gets up off the couch to get a closer look. “Damn…” He said, his voice above a whisper, “Can I… Can I keep it?” He asked, hopeful that you might say yes, “Duh.” You giggled.

“For once the smooth talker is shocked, that’s new.” You say with a smirk. “And for once the introvert is talking back, that’s new.” Angel replies, but the usual attitude in his voice isn’t there, his voice is barely above a whisper as his eyes are still entranced with the painting.

You take the painting off the stand and hand it to Angel. You look over to a nearby window notice the sun is setting, despite the red sky still being as clear as day, “It’s getting late, I’m gonna head up to my room.” You say. “Yeah… Me too.”

As you and Angel are both walking to your rooms, you don’t say much, until a voice pipes up, “Y’know, I really owe ya for the painting.” Angel says, still looking at it, “Owe me what?” You ask, as you both arrive at your door.

“A date, maybe.” Angel says, pecking your forehead, “Stop by my room at eight tomorrow, if your interested~”

BLADE : he’d take you to an aquarium ! he secretly thinks the fish are very cute and cool , you will probs catch him zoning out while staring at them lol .. so in order to get his attention again , you press a few kisses to his cheek , causing his ears to turn red as he stares at you … u insist on taking pics w him, so with a reluctant sigh , he does all the silly poses you want to do with him (like using ur arms to make hearts etc etc) I imagine he has some weird obscure facts about the sea life in the aquarium , so if you’re willing he might go on a small rant about them what a cutie patootie.. might even point out the fishes that remind him of u

KAFKA : she’d take you to the movies ! she’s fine with any genre, so it’s up to u to pick . if u choose horror , she’d be elated bcuz deep down she wants u to cling to her whenever u get scared hehe ! if u choose smth like romance , she would probs go “that could be us if you wanted~” with a smile as she turns to you .. she likes seeing the blush that blooms on ur cheeks whenever she says things like that . def makes a lot of comments if she even remotely sees the protagonist act like u do ! sometimes , she even makes comments about the movie . like how certain parts r cheesy (bold coming from her), or how some parts seem too fake .. she’s an enthusiast about analyzing films ..

HIMEKO : she’d take you to a cat cafe ! she thinks the cats r rlly cute , plus it’s a cafe ! so she can have coffee while playing w the cats along w u ! when she spots a cat that looks / reminds her of u , she points it out before putting the cat on her lap , smiling at u .. she’ll even put it on ur lap and take pictures of you two together ! would share the desserts and drinks with you (im talking like putting two straws into smth like a milkshake, except she would use urs sometimes for the indirect kiss ..) , might even hand feed you some of it (๑╹ω╹๑ ) the type to lick a crumb off your lips if u had any lol (it’s a plus for her watching you get flustered at the action)

SEELE : she’d take you on a picnic ! she’s a person who prefers more simpler things , and it’s no different when it comes to dates ! but don’t worry , u two still have a good time hehe ☆〜（ゝ。∂）surprisingly , she brings more sweet things then anything else .. she’s a bit of a sweet tooth (even though she gets a lil embarrassed about it if you call her out on it lol) if any animals pass by , she might share some food w it (she has a soft spot for animals .. ) it’s even better if you guys watch the sunset or stargaze while having the picnic, she thinks the sky is very beautiful .. she probs knows the name of all the diff constellations and stars n will gladly tell u them while gesturing towards each one in the sky

“did you really have to drag me out now?” megumi always says one thing, and means it. that was the case most of the time — like how yuji had given him a ginger flavoured jelly bean because he mentioned one time he likes things with ginger, flaring up immediately with a temptation to summon his shikigami. or even the other time where maki had eaten the last cup of his banana pudding so he muttered under his breath that she was never going to get playful cloud back ever again.

it was stoicism upon stoicism until you were involved.

now he finds that he says one thing and means another, especially when you’re involved. you’re always there now — joining tokyo jujutsu high from a remote district in the south — offering some compromise or patting a gentle hand on his shoulder even when he claims he hates people touching him.

the small touches never halted, he only sinks into the contact bit by bit, until eventually he doesn’t know how he has his head under yours months later, legs entangled in the rustic jujutsu high dorm room. megumi’s unclear on how he craves your touch when your fingers accidentally brush against his, bridging the gap by taking your hand in his. the sorcerer wants to know why whenever your hands trace his features, they instantly relax and soften, letting a smile, that’s only for you to see, slip through.

and because you’ve only ever known his contradictory words, you knew he was fine with letting you bring him out onto the running track at almost midnight, lugging his body while still keeping your hand clutched in his.

“i’m sorry, babe! gojo-sensei pointed out methods that would improve my technique and cursed energy output. you’re the only one i can trust with training at this timing.”

the other opens his mouth to protest, but you’re not wrong. yuji almost always exerts himself to the maximum everyday, so he usually knocks out early and nobara frequents the second years’ part of the dorms to hang with them, but really, she goes there to talk to maki, and everyone but them knows. so megumi simply lets out a sigh and nods, blinking away the sleepiness to focus on you.

now, sparring with you is always a thrill as you’ve mastered a martial art specific to where you came from, and while megumi hates losing, he always gets a rush of adrenaline whenever you manage to one-up him; you do it with ease. the wind is knocked out of him when you tackle him for the second time that night, giggling as you hold down his stronger points: arms from all that summoning since young, torso from the training gojo puts him through. 

megumi stifles a smile at your victory and laughter, placing a cautionary hand on your waist, “you’re getting better at managing your cursed energy.” he compliments you softly and you beam before realising that you’re sort of cutting off his air supply. with a quick sorry! you’re standing and helping him up, the familiar rush of heat to your palms and faces.

“but my combat skills are still better, right?” you grin.

megumi who nods in defeat, is ready to go again, taking two paces back. but even though he makes mental notes about the new moves he’s seen, he’s not exactly on the offensive once you land one, two, three hits, simply dodging and moving out the way. you continue to give it your all, without the knowledge that your enthusiasm and passion is driving megumi insane.

it’s how the corners of your lips curl at a strong punch, how you wipe the sweat from your brow, how the fire in your eyes look just like how it did when you were defending megumi from todo. unparalleled, unwavering, paired with the soft, melancholy shifting of Luna on your face, going through all eight phases on your face alone like a sundial telling the time — and you look good in every hour.

so it’s no surprise when megumi gets thrown onto the floor for a third, final time, dazed as your cheers echo throughout the empty field. you’re more conscious of your weight, now, removing yourself from him before laughing again at your win, but when you turn back to have your lover welcome your elation, you’re stunned to see him smiling unchastened at you, encasing your hand in his palm.

megumi wordlessly places your hand on his chest and you suck in a breath when you hear the heartbeat there increasing in speed, meeting his eyes that are already fixed on you. it feels like the field is far below you, and you’re seeing your reflection in the beautiful dark blues of his eyes. the exorcising of curses takes you high but fushiguro megumi takes you higher until the altitude gets to you and you can’t breathe.

but you love it.

the dark-haired sorcerer strokes your cheek lovingly, breath stopping when he feels the warmth of your skin and he has to do it now or he’ll never have the courage to do it again.

“can i kiss you?” he asks, albeit a little timidly, but you don’t blame him with how you nod quietly as well, arms racing round his shoulder before his lips capture yours. it’s inexperienced and soft, testing the waters as your heads meet oddly and your teeth are bumping into each other.

“sorry, megumi.” you mumble. you don’t know what’s right or wrong, whether you should mess up the baby hairs on his nape.

“don’t be.” it’s barely above a whisper, and maybe you don’t have to know what’s right or wrong straightaway. “we’ll try again, okay, my love?”

“yeah.” is all you say, but you want to say millions more when you kiss for the second time that night. the tips of your fingers curl around his raven hair, his hands are shaky against your waist but the connection between your lips makes you drunk on your affection for him.

right or wrong doesn’t matter anymore, because whatever you’re doing, you’re sure your answer is megumi.

He senses the hands poised and waiting on each side of him before he even opens the fridge.

John was never one for subtlety. He was crafty, certainly, and intricately aware of his own innate cunning to get what he wanted, often to the annoyance and detriment of everyone around him. Manipulation by default carried its own brand of skillful deception, an artform of hiding partial truths in favor of what you wanted others to believe instead. But rarely did it require him to be totally discreet in those aims - and even now when he had grown so far beyond the king he used to be, his lack of remaining subtle in every single act grew with him.

"John," Arthur says slowly. "Can I open the refrigerator, please?"

Those arms wrap around him before the sentence is even fully out of his mouth. John holds him loosely as he comes to stand just behind him, draped like so much heavy wool, the differences in their heights never more apparent than when he rested his chin atop Arthur's head. 

"I don't know," John muses thoughtfully, "can you?"

Arthur sighs, fighting helplessly against the curve of a smile. "It's only been five minutes since I got up," he recalls. "I told you I was coming back soon enough."

"Mhm," comes the indifferent hum. His breath stirs a few wayward strands of swept back hair. John's own long black curls had spilled over his shoulder, tickling the side of Arthur's cheek. "I missed you, though."

"Five minutes," he emphasizes, attempting and failing to reach up and grip the refridgerator's handle. "You couldn't wait for me that long?"

"I got bored," says John nonchalantly. "It's too cold in there."

"What do those things have in common, exactly?" he asks airily, giving into a grin.

Rolled eyes go unnoticed as John hugs him tighter, chest pressed against his back. "The heating is out," he clarifies as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. "I was impatient waiting for you to come back. You're the warmest thing in the house right now, ergo, I came to find you."

"I see." He nods sagely. "Ever the survivalist. Wouldn't want you to freeze to death. May I have my hand back, please?"

"Can I have it when you're done?"

"Yes, John, Jesus Christ," Arthur laughs, the sound dancing joyfully around the tiny kitchen. "I just need a moment."

With a grumble, he relents, releasing the left hand only. Arthur's other remains solidly trapped under the reach of John's left arm, fingers brushing the backs of scarred knuckles absentmindedly. It grounds as much as it distracts, and when he's finally able to open the door and stand sightlessly in front of the cool draft wafting out, he forgets entirely what he was going to make.

"What are you looking for?" John asks him, unconsciously mirroring the thought. His chin hasn't moved. Every miniscule movement of Arthur's he matches, the two of them swaying imperceptibly in place. 

"Something to eat, clearly," he says drily. "Any suggestions?"

John shifts briefly to put both palms on either side of his waist, feeling the curve there. "Something fattening," he recommends. "It's still like grasping a slip of tissue paper."

Arthur huffs, but doesn't give in to the gentle ribbing. "I'm trying, alright? I’ve a lot to make up for."

"Try harder. More of you means more for me to hang onto."

It had been this way ever since they'd gained him the body both had worked so hard to achieve. From day one John had clung to him like someone starved of affection his entire life - and in all aspects of the phrase, he very much was. Out in public they tended to keep a lower profile, relying on the indiscretion of linked pinky fingers when walking or shoulders bumped playfully against one another, but rarely did it satisfy their longing for the comfort of simple touch. At home, safe from prying glances and safe in each other, John followed him almost everywhere he could. Usually his excuses were believable enough for Arthur to concede to them, but after a while John gave up pretending altogether. 

In complete honesty with himself, Arthur would never have turned him away, false reasons for wanting to be near him or not. He would drape himself over Arthur's neck while he played piano, something he knew tickled him enough to lose focus; he cared very little about this, only lamenting the stall of music. He would lay his head in his lap while John described the movie they were watching, eyes fluttering shut when wandering hands played with his hair, losing the plot entirely. A bed empty on one side soon became the two of them slotted neatly together, neither looking for anything more than someone to breathe next to, hold through the small hours of the morning. 

All those eons alone, Arthur thinks to himself as he reaches for the bread. All that time spent denied any tangible adoration or connection, unable to consider what that could even mean, too large in the scope of his unending dominion to conceive of something so plainly momentous as two hands coming together. No wonder he was ravenous. It must have felt like finally being let inside after staring for so long through the glass.

All that history behind him, and it only made him want to feel loved. In this, Arthur could resonate well.

"John?" he asks, setting the bagged loaf on the counter. John follows behind him, still wrapped. Arthur could have stood on his toes and had him walk them both across the room if he wanted to. 

"Hmm?"

"What's it like?"

John blinks drowsily. "What is what like?"

"Being able to touch, I mean. I know you had my hand, of course, but with your own body I imagine it's much different to experience humanity through."

John considers this as he watches the sandwich forming, not bothering to help as Arthur struggles to grab a plate over John's cemented grip. He'd mulled it over on multiple occasions, tried numerous ways to explain it. All his eloquence went out the window when faced with such a question, simple on its face but possessive of an entire linguistic ocean underneath.

His mouth opens, a half formed sentence lingering there, before promptly closing. Arthur winces at the tap of his jaw against the top of his head.

"Ouch?"

"Sorry."

He can't find the words. Perhaps he didn't need to. This source of physical consolation and the way he coveted it would have to be enough to make him understand. The sensation of fresh cotton clothing, skin warmed by the sun casting its narrow beam of light across the kitchen floor, muscles and joints and a collection of scars all silhouetted into a body he had once lived in, and now knew as well as his own: it's a humbling wonder. 

But Arthur sighs, and this description too leaves him. So instead he settles.

"It's nice," he says quietly, reveling in the sturdy softness within his reach that he would be forever grateful to share. "It's nice."

As soon as he learns you’re good at fighting, he suggests that you two spar. 

Now that he knows you’re not breakable, he is going to treat you differently. Throwing things at you with his full strength (which is more than humanly possible-) and nearly tackling you with hugs.

The two of you make quite a (TERRIFYING) power couple. No one’ll be a dick to you guys now!

Arthur wouldn’t care that much, but he’d be a little intimidated.

But he’s keeping that information in his back pocket. He’s a rather scrawny guy, so knowing you can back him is very useful.

He asks you where and why you learned immediately. Of course, no judgment whatever you say, but if it’s for some more… unpleasant reasons he’d like to know.

Definitely encourages you to get better! It’s becoming a more and more rare skill these days!

Francis would not care that much personally, but he would totally admire you a lot for it!

Learning a skill like that would either take a lot of struggle or a lot of effort, either way, respectable.

As long as you don’t beat up people in front of him, he generally doesn’t care. He considers fighting for stupid reasons very uncivilized.

You can try to drag him along when you work out, but I’ll tell you now, he is not doing anything. He’ll run alongside you, but that is the extent of it. If you want him to help you practice, he’ll do it while complaining.

Yao would like this quite a lot! In his younger years, he was a fighter as well, so maybe you two can teach each other some tricks!

Of course, the way he learned to fight is very traditional, so he may get on your ass about “wrong posture” or whatever.

Also, he can’t go for very long without getting tired anyway. He loves you for your energy but he cannot keep up-

Surprisingly, Yao would be pretty supportive of you getting in random fights though. Even if the reason is stupid, he’ll still be cheering from the sidelines.

i unfortunately dont have any tutorials or anything made already and i dont really want to make any as of right now because i feel like i have a long way to go in terms of learning how to properly draw a lot of things. since i don't know what im doing id feel really lousy putting out a tutorial when i dont even have a lot of the basics down yet...

im gonna blab under the cut about tips (not really tips on drawing bodies themselves as a guideline, but what has helped me practice and thus allowed me to get better at drawing bodies in my own art), so u dont have to read all that if it doesnt interest u! but regardless thank u again for being so sweet!!! sorry i couldnt give u what u wanted.. maybe one day... 😭

again this is just how i practice, but its GENUINELY helped me get so much better.

all i can say as far as tips is to definitely practice with references as much as u can, it really will help u improve. i know people often dont like that advice too much but its really true... every time i use references to practice for a bit i can tell it helps me, and looking back at older art i know its true. i dont often use guidelines (i really need to...), or at least not in the sense that i do in most of the guides i see so i feel like i cant give much else in terms of advice tho, other than that.

anyway, its one thing to just use a reference, but really trying to get it down and learn it (learn the body, anatomy, how to draw it all) so u carry that knowledge on is sorta different, for me

what has helped me to really learn is this method of practice where i

draw a reference photo based off what i see

trace the photo

overlay both my trace and the first drawing i made

go back and choose key points on the photo/trace where i was very off and mark them as a little dot/line and then try to fix the original sketch with those dots/lines to match the photo (look below to understand what i mean LOL sorry)

try and draw it again from scratch based on what i see visually

and for number 4, what i mean is this:

lets say the 2nd is my visual (rough) drawing based off of the original

overlaying my original sketch on the reference i can see where a lot of points are off!

ill make note of a few of the areas that were very off and mark them, then get rid of the reference underneath. ill still look at it as a guide on the side, but overall try to just change the original sketch to match it instead of directly tracing!

i feel like this may not have been exactly what u mean as far as tips for drawing bodies, but ive found that in order to grasp them better in a way that helps u draw them on ur own, doing studies like this really helps! for me, at least, it allows me to better store things in my memory--because looking at the image and practicing doesnt feel like it really CEMENTS any knowledge, but seeing where i went wrong and then working backwards to try and alter it shows me where im lacking in skill, and helps me use that information later!

doing this allows me to understand how bodies take up space. it has helped me to see the body as more of a tangible thing while i draw freehand, and do it more accurately as well, instead of it feeling like its. a limp noodle i cant grasp LOL

i will say, tho, that for hands especially i almost always use my hands as a reference for what i want. like i dont even have a guide for that in terms of what i do to draw them out or guidelines i follow, i just straight up draw them based off what i see or imagine, i dont really do those step by step guidelines...

im sorry again i couldnt rly give u what u wanted, i just dont think im at that level where i can truly give any advice since im not good enough (yet ! we hope) for a genuine tutorial. if u mean something as far as like... body shapes and stuff im still not rly there yet either. i hope this helps even a tiny bit tho, if u read this far!!!

i feel like there's a thing i need to talk about, but don't really know how. i can't explain in a cool, mature and complicated way why i feel like shit when other artists bring themselves down while complimenting me and comparing their art to mine. i don't have the right words for that, just please don't do that. neither to urself, or to me.

i wasn't born with a pencil in my hand, it was a very hard and rocky way to get there, where i am now - i'm somewhat skilled, know a lot of things and i work in the industry. but it doesn't mean it was always like that. it doesn't mean i don't understand what hating ur own art means - i used to hate it a lot in the past. i still have a lot of doubts, more emotional, but technical too. there are LOTS of them, i just don't talk about it because often i just don't want to.

there's one big thing i've learned - that comparing urself to others is just.. not good. it's hard not to do that sometimes. but it doesn't give you anything, just more and more doubts.

the way i see things now is simple - when i see artists who are way more skilled than me, or they know how to do things i can't do i just think "if they could - then someday i could do that too". it doesn't mean i don't get sad sometimes when i can't do some cool shit immediately tho. im inpatient, and any skills take a lot of time, practice, and a lot of fails.

that being said... i'm not perfect. at all. i get frustrated at my art too, and not everything goes on the internet because of it. i have a LOT of things to learn, and i still make a lot of mistakes. and i'm still a human with a pencil who's trying hard to learn things

idk what else to say. but sometimes i get messages that are really just upsetting, and sometimes they get crazy enough to put a trigger warning on, if i talk about it more. i don't want people to hate themselves or be upset when they look at my art, this is not what i'm after when i share things :( pls just. don't do that. i feel so bad fr. idk how else to explain all this. i could probably say why im sharing my art in the first place but rn i feel too vulnerable to do so.

make art for you and you only. the guilt of not posting will only get worse if you keep posting every single thing you make, and your skills will get worse/inconsistent if you force it. if you really truly want to share what you make with the world but are afraid it's not "good enough" then i reccomend posting on a private account to only ur friends/mutuals ! just please prioritize your joy. if you find joy in attention from your art thats amazing bc i do too but dont JUST do art bc ur afraid that love is going to fade after you slow down.

arranges a spa day. let's be real; a spa date was long awaited. if anyone deserves a little spa sesh, it's channie. he works so hard, gets himself all stressed and worked up about things. he has so many responsibilities, so many things to think about and people to take care of. so yes, when you tell him you're treating him to a spa date, he very much welcomes and appreciates the idea. its something he would consider as romantic because he needs it, and the fact that you thought he would like it makes him feel super happy.

he loves the steam room because he thinks it's so cool and he is so surprised about how much he relaxed during his session. honestly, he thought he was still going to be tense and be thinking about things. but being with you in this experience just makes him feel so much more happier. the massage treatment was his favourite, obviously. he will continue to thank you forever because his joints feel better, his shoulders feel lighter, and he just feels so much more at peace.

takes care of his cats. we all know minho worries about his dear little precious fluffy babies a whole lot. and rightly he should! they are his family and mean so much to him afterall. but on occasions where they aren't feeling well or had just had a visit to the vet for an operation or something, thats when he worries about them the most. he wants to be there and keep an eye on them to make sure they keep out of harms way and try and make them as comfy as possible, but his job doesn't allow him the same flexibility as it used to.

you decide to take it upon yourself to volunteer to look after these fluffy little creatures. you dont even bat an eye when you tell him you're staying to look after them. you don't know just how. much this gesture means to him. with you, he knows that they are in safe hands and that he doesn't have to worry as much about them. he's so forever greatful to you. your relationship with his cats are important to him anyways, so this is just the icing on the cake.

goes on a trip with him. changbin has quite a sense of responsibility, but he also has a real lust for life. he has this incurable sense that there is more to life than just: wake up, workout, got to work, sleep, and repeat. he likes exploring and experiencing new things. variety is what keeps him going. so when you say you want to take a spontaneous trip away with him, he is so down. he loves the idea of just escaping the realities of every day life and spending time with you elsewhere, to focus on you and just having fun.

his favourite trip yet has been going back to his hometown. this was actually your idea; you felt it would give him great comfort. he was able to revist some important, nostalgic places form his childhood, as well as places he took for granted at the time, now able to look at them with fresh eyes and a developed brain. he got to appreciate these things as the adult he is now, and that is something truly special.

paints a picture of him. hyunjin was at first shy sith his talents with art, but soon readily showed and taught you how to paint, considering your keen interest in his new hobby. he didn't realise it himself but he was a very good teacher, and you got to learn many good skills from him. and so, with these skills, you decide that you would create a beautiful masterpiece of your boyfriend, showing him that he is the perfect teacher and giving him something to convey appreciation for him.

when you finally gave him the finishing product, at long last, he teared up. there was a note that came with it: 'you are the art i see in every day life. getting to know you and the way you see the world has been such a beautiful experience. may we continue to share the world together, my dear artist.'

writes him a song. of all the songs he has written about you, expressing his feelings, his adoration, the articulation of his love for you through the lyrics he had written late at night, you figured it was about time you gave the same amount of effort back to him. your talented, hardworking boyfriend inspired you so much, so writing a song about him was the least you could do. you even asked for a bit of guidance from changbin and channie to perfect the song.

but writing the lyrics was easy. this song was an expression of love for him. and hell, you could go on and on about how much he meant to you; how much he had changed your life for the better. its safe to say that when you finally played him the song you write for him, he cried buckets. he had no idea you would put this much effort into a gift for him. how greatful he was for you now.

completes the bucket list. felix has a bucket list his been adding things onto since he was a child. part of him didn't think he would actually complete most of those things on the list; some things were really specific, and others were super vague. but you had the idea to complete the things on his list with him. that way, he would be motivated to go and you would both make memories together.

so when he showed you his bucket list again, ideas decide to form in your head. you saw different things on it: go to disneyland, learn to ride a horse, bungee-jumping, marvel marathon, tie dye a t-shirt - clearly all very random ideas he accumalated over time. you'd surprise him one day with one of these things, perhaps starting off small and working your way up to the bigger stuff. "you really want to do all this with me?" he will questioning with a beaming smile on his face. "of course" you'll reply, not knowing how touched he felt by this.

seungmin

set up a zoom date. honestly? covid and the whole lock down situation took a massive toll on seungmin. being isolated from everyone and not being are to see his favourite people really made him feel low. he felt restrained and trapped in his own environment. but not being able to see your face everyday hurt him especially. he felt so hopeless without you, and his mood got from bad to worse. he felt like there was more of a disconnect and he was worried that his relationship with you will weaken and slowly fade away due to the circumstances.

so when you come up with the idea to a zoom date for the first time, seungmin was deeply touched. you would get dressed up for him and everything, have a little candle on the side and try to eat the same thing for dinner as if you were sharing food. he found it so adorable and his deep love for you was affirmed by your kindness and persistent love that kept him going during these difficult times.

jeongin

buys him something important. jeongin likes shopping for different bits and bobs but jn general he is very good with his money. he likes to save money for the future, but also save up to buy something expensive to treat himself after working so hard on a new comeback. it's a habit he has gotten into and he likes having that freedom to buy something meaningful and well thought out after so long. and so he has a specific item in mind that he's been saving up for and wants to buy, getting excited to purchase it when the time is right.

and that's where you come in with the idea to buy it for him instead. you know how much he has wanted this gift and you thought that it would be a grand gift to tell him how amazing he has done and how his efforts have paid off. honestly, when he sees that you have bought it for him, he is so shocked, totally stunned out of his seat and doesn't know what to do with himself at all. he would have never expected you to do this at all and he feels to loved and appreciated by you.

i was wondering, how did you get to develop your art? im currently in a process where i am trying to experiment and go beyond the need to create art that is realistic (as in "objectively like reality as it is", like I was being told by both school and family). i feel like I struggle a lot to follow my inspiration because of this, and I am also trying to learn how to draw scenes from my own ordinary life, but unfortunately I am quite impatient and frustrated with my inability to create what I wish to create + perfectionism in general makes me scared of using colour as well 😭 I really admire your art so much, both your sketches and finished pieces, and I have always wondered your own learning process throughout the years. please feel free to not reply if you feel uncomfortable cause I know it is a very personal process as well, and above all I hope you are doing well and I am sending you endless love <333

🥺🥺 this is so lovely to receive because if im completely honest there are multiple moments where i feel exactly as you've just described and despite pushing through it, a message like this is very validating that ive progressed in some way

i dont mind sharing at all. i started drawing/painting when i was 21/22 which is relatively late and i was so fearful because despite having a vision for what i wanted to create i lacked any skill that could help me bring what was in my minds eye to fruition. i was also insanely depressed and in the middle of getting my degree at uni (so felt like i had no time to pursue art, at least not to the extent i wanted to). — my plan to get better consisted of multiple things. id draw everyday. i had/have two styles i'd practice, one realism, and the other 'freestyle'? basically draw only from my head and from the rhythms that came naturally to my hand, no references. by doing that, or drawing the human figure/portraits/cars/buildings from my imagination, not only was i reinforcing what id actually learned from my study of the fundamentals, but i was learning to incorporate my own creativity into the rigid structure that sometimes comes from only drawing from reference. by doing that and drawing studies every day i began to build a library in my head of images/poses/character archetypes i could pull from which made drawing from my imagination easier, but also had the structural knowledge of forms/perspective/anatomy to make them look credible. id do this whenever i had free time, and once i left uni began practicing anywhere from 6-9 hours daily. a bit extreme but i felt like i had time to make up for since i started drawing relatively late in life. only tip there is to balance practice with making finished pieces. finished pieces will show you which fundamentals you still need to work on & how much progress you've made. they also show the completion of a thought whereas practice only gives you the tools to bring that thought to reality

just so u know, ur practice of the fundaments is not in vain. you just need to revive your own capacity to draw from your imagination/subconscious. the main thing is knowing your going to find your work horrible for a long time before it gets better. the joy has to come from the process of creating rather than the end product. by the time it gets better, your eye will also have improved, so you still wont be satisfied. thats where growth comes in. being your biggest critic is what will make you great, as long as you remember where you came from (date and keep your work so you can look back on it) and the role criticism plays. separate your skill from your self worth.

something helpful i was once told is along the lines of 'perfectionism is a lie we tell ourselves to justify our procrastination. no one is ever perfect, so the only way to gain skill is to practice. you cant grow if you dont begin. so if your really a perfectionist, your only solution is to start'

He refuses to let ANY reader die, it really reminds me of that Dokja selfishness for his companions but it somehow expresses so much kinder out of LHH idk, i just be saying shit now

thank goodness that he’s slightly better emotionally regulated, i love how everyone loves him as well n he so loves them back (especially that 41!YJH guy…) (damn this kind of rehashes my reasons for loving Dokja but that guy is severely more emotionally constipated so i like LHH better)

he feels like such a reliable guy, he really makes sure everyone will be okay n it truly feels like orvss will have a good ending bc he’s there to see it through

but anyway, i think it’s fun that she just stans heewon so hard she worked out n then is like bros with hyunsung. 41!YJH legitimately values her and the rest of the companions in combat. this round is so interesting bc like there’s the usual incarnations + the readers who got crazy good powerful so the balance is wrecked

honestly she and Lee Dansu were like, the first companions so there’s a sense of fondness that just comes from knowing them for so long

i just wanted to send some positive words your way and let you know that i absolutely adore the way you write both dark and daisuke. it's clear you put a lot of thought and love into both of them, and your posts have always brought a smile to my face. i'll never forget the shock i felt when your blog popped up in my recommended and, i was on call with my boyfriend at the time, he hears me go 'NO WAY, ARE YOU SERIOUS?' before i slapped the follow button LOL d.n.angel holds a special part of my early teenage years and your blog brings the warmth and nostalgia i felt all those years ago. i almost feel like that 14 year old again, giddy over a silly anime and kicking my feet with excitement every time i see your posts c: thank you for being such a joyous presence on my dash

I'M SO REAL!!! *DOES A JIG* I'M SO GLAD MY BLOG CAN MAKE YOU FEEL THAT WAY TOO 😭🤧PLEASE IT MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME. dnangel is such a weird series because it feels like everyone's at least -SEEN- or heard of it at least once but then it's still weirdly niche?? like there's not really anything for it esp anymore and nobody talks about it esp now that it's finally finished (manga-wise) after 30 some years but it's still like. most popular/easily recognized niche series ik off the top of my head JJGJKFKJ TYSM FOR UR COMPLIMENTS OVER MY PORTRAYAL TOO!!!

making this blog was such a good exercise in my own growth because going back to it sugisaki had such BANGER themes that i didn't even notice or totally grasp at first when i myself was in middleschool, so i feel like i'm lowkey compensating and paying proper attention to everybody now that i have. well. better critical thinking skills and media literacy DFKJKJGKJKJ even going back i was kind of surprised how it dealt with such dark topics like grief and death and the consequences of Playing God or sins and cycles when like.......... it's also a silly little dramatic rom-com about middleschoolers and immortals but it still never leaves you feeling hopeless or lonely, which as also sugisaki's intention with the series!! it's so nice!! i really wanted to be able to emulate the overall messages of her characters and loving art esp since it ends up so meta for us writers. i'm just happy to write!! doesn't have to be perfect or even exact, since i do take a tiny bit of creative/hc liberty with my own inspos and portrayals for dai n dark! but i'm always having sm fun interacting with everybody, AND I RLLY APPRECIATE U TOO!!! 🙇🙇

i'll probably be around for a looooong time bc dai n dark r just as much treasured and influential for me (i was also one of those 14 yr olds, i have embarrassing dnangel merch on top of piles of manga laying around, im certifIED REAL FAN /J) but it makes me so happy my posts bring u joy. im glad bc i know i can post/talk ooc a lot before i get the time to actually properly sit down and Write but that's just how it is for a lot of us kjgkjgfb anyways, thank u again!! things like this rlly help my confidence since actually at the start i had no idea if i could do like... a protagonist (daisuke)/'popular' (to me. dark/dnangel is popular and legendary and overwhelming in the eyes of the tumblr populace to Me-) chara any justice, but im put at ease any time i get such warm feedback like this!!! 💐💐💐FOR YOU! u get even more flowers this time straight from me!!! go buy urself a treat for being so nice!!!
