The mood tonight is spending time with Nate’s parents on Christmas Eve and they’re antsy because they know he’s going to propose to reader ����

djakcsk hello i know this was sent on christmas eve but tumblr decided to delete what i typed so >:( 

also i have to address two things about this:

1. i want a Christmas proposal SO bad like this was a direct attack on ME

2. i couldn't help but think about champagne problems while reading this ask - specifically the lyrics, “sometimes you just don't know the answer ‘til someone's on their knees and asks you "she would've made such a lovely bride what a shame she's fucked in her head, " they said but you'll find the real thing instead she'll patch up your tapestry that I shred”

also while we’re on the topic of taylor swift and the million ways she breaks my heart - in champagne problems, at the end when she says “you won't remember all my champagne problems” after she talks about him finding someone new just BREAKS me. 

ALSO about champagne problems but i heard the lyrics, “your moms rining your pocket” like if his mom was calling him and im DUMB but just realized she’s saying “you mom’s ring in your pocket” LIKE THE FUCKING RING HE WAS PROPOSING IN ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME 

anyway im done FOR now but... if anyone wants to scream about evermore w me HMU

OKAY now here we go:

so Christmas with Nates family... 

his mom has to keep herself from blowing the secret but she’s just SO excited. luckily natalie is there to help his mom keep it together. 

they spend Christmas eve cooking and baking, sharing too many drinks, laughing and dancing. you would already be a part of their family long before he popped the question. 

i think nate would actually propose away from his family to try to take away any pressure - wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable while his family anxiously waited for your answer. 

i think after everyone opened their gifts on christmas morning, nate would tell you he’s got a little christmas date planned - doesn't tell you much about it, just wants you to get ready. 

he’d take you on a day filled with cutesy christmas couple things omfg

like right off the bat would take you ice skating (i’d like to imagine an ice skating rink in the middle of a park - lots of twinkly lights too!) 

he’d hold your hand and do most of the guiding bc... hockey!player nate 😌

he’d feel like the ring were burning a hole in his coat pocket he is SO ready to ask but wants to be patient 🥺👉👈

ofc you’d get a really cute selfie on the ice rink that includes a nate cheek kissie - bonus point if you’re both wearing matching beanies omfg

after that, buys you hot chocolate - and as the sun sets, takes you to go look at some christmas lights 🥺

and maybe cash money grayson pulls some strings and gets a christmas light installation at the end of the trail that reads “will you marry me?” in bright lights

when you look over at him when you get to the lights, he drops your hand and drops to his knee 🥺

also has roses and champagne ready (natalie and his mom helped him prepare some of those details)

(not to mention the photographer that’s ready to capture the moment 🥺)

AND as if he could have planned it --

as soon as you say yes, he picks you up and spins you around before cupping your face to kiss you -- snow gently starts to fall over you guys. a nice quiet fluffy snow. 

AND omfg

when you get back to his parents place, everyone's eyes are on your hand when you walk in and when you tell them you said yes 🥺 nate is BEAMING.. pulls you close and gives you a kissie on top of your head while his family gushes over you 🥺
