i took a little break from Ad Astra but I'm trying to get back into it and I'm excited so!! I want some input akdjks according to the lore i've made up for my own story, wings in the watcher realm appear different that wings that players would have in an actual world.
So I've been trying to think of what wings I should give Scar when he's in the Watcher realm; i wanted something flashy and like. celestial feeling? to go with the slight star theme the fics got going on. My first option was common starling wings but i have too many options that i like now and I want help so ajskdkj please let me know which one of these you'd like to see the most in the fic!!
(examples under the cut)

Hi, same chapter anon here and. Oh my. Screen caps would be lovely but only if it’s not too much trouble 💕💕tysm💕💕
ah no problem!! i’ll put it behind a cut because it got a little long and rambling about other ways i take notes too lakjsdfljk
i don’t make outlines for fics usually,, In Defense of Arson is really the only one I’ve ever made an “”outline”” for and it looks like this basically:
Tumblr media
which is just “chapter # – title” and that’s it. i haven’t even used it since i started writing, but i plan out all my chapter titles ahead of time (except the last two of this fic because I didn’t realize it would be that long) and it helps me focus. I should have made a way to track which chapters i had written/edited/posted for this one because i really lost track and got messed up really badly lkasdfkj
but Strawberry Cookies is a little different,, I had a calendar drawn out and marked the days I wrote a scene on (if I ever include calendar dates, i usually have a way of tracking each and every day in my notes) but I used my bujo for this and then also had a tracker for each individual chapter (W/E/P is usually how i track whether i’ve written/edited/posted something… but I usually edit and then immediately post anyways)
Tumblr media
I also used section breaks on SC to distinguish the chapters and then typed the month up in the header but I know you can also use a heading style type in word and it’ll show up like a table of contents (which is what i did in ODAD although i don’t like how it looks compared to using an actual header instead of a heading but it’s really nice for navigating throughout your document,,,,)
Tumblr media
A Vampire and His Ghost was a WHOLE other story because i did a lot of math and needed to track which # the visit and possibility and year and just— it was a lot and so the notes are much more cluttered but i still used the W/E/P way of tracking which chapters i had
Tumblr media
here’s how i mapped out His notes to keep track, the different colors determine whether i’ve written it, edited it or posted it yet (this is an old screencap but same basic idea kdfg blue is written, orange is edited/posted)
Tumblr media
OKAY so without making this just all about my shitty writing notes and back to how i track chapters! For the most part I don’t… unless it’s massively planned out (HWA) or it’s all in the same document (SC, His) or i’ve written a ton in advance (AVAHG) BUT the basic process I do for writing is
1) decide how many chapters there are (honestly this is determined by some really stupid factors on my part – IDOA and AVAHG both spelled out words with the first letters of the chapters (His spells out “his” like 10 times), NHD was based off a Half Bad quote about “ten times over” and then it had a bonus chapter at the end, SC was meant to end at the end of the year so it only had 9 months/chapters to write)
2) i title the chapters… sometimes there’s a pattern to it (AVAHG started with three letters and then each chapter the word was a little bit longer? i’m explaining that poorly. His is based on the length of the word too but it’s hard to explain how i did that akjsdkj and IDOA are all words having to do with heat/fire and occasionally ice because there wasn’t an option I liked for it)
3) have some way of color coding or signifying if something has been written/edited/posted yet.
i really hope this all makes sense lkfgjklkljdfg please let me know if it doesn’t!! sometimes having a physical thing i can write down notes on is easier than using a word document or an excel spreadsheet.. it really just depends on the fic and what all information i need to track.
