going from Chuck Dixon writing the batfam on New Earth to Chip Zdarsky writing the batfam on whatever the current era is called (still Rebirth? Infinite Frontier?) is giving me such major whiplash

like, these are not the same characters AT ALL

#picked up failsafe from the library bc people on here were like #“Chip writes Tim and Bruce's relationship so well!”#y'all #you LIED to me #tim had the personality of a wet sock #and bruce had self-induced DID and it felt like a way to sanitize his character #like ``no tehee brucie is never too harsh with his kids he always views them as children to protect and every time he doesn't WELL #Blame it all on the subconscious personality #it's not actually bruce it's zar dee dum`` or whatever the fuck that orange purple yellow suit was called.#no i'm not gonna do that. write the man as the complex stubborn hypocrite he is #chip is probably over-correcting with writing bruce as an A+ father bc some other writers have portrayed him as an F- one #but let's be real here -- bruce fluxuates between a C and B father #I did really like the part where Bruce refused to give up on helping the Joker #and it's always nice to see the other supers swoop in to help gotham with a crisis #and the art? chef's kiss gorgeous #but overall the writing SUCKED #please give Chip more comedies - his Jughead issues were so good #but i want to rip batman away from his hands #dc #fandom rant #mine #batman 2016 #batman #also also bruce should NOT have survived falling from space
