Okay I know it's late but I'm still thinking of the penguins and what mercs they'd get along with. It might be a bit surprising but hear me out. This is specifically with the show since that's what I'm most famliar with(meaning yes, I'm going with unhinged Jeff Bennet Kowalski).

Unexpectedly, I feel like Skipper would get along with Spy the most. Not only are they both quite the charmer, but Spy also tends to assume the leadership role when the moment calls for it. They're both the kind of person who thinks they're the only one with their head on their shoulders when they're just as off as the rest.

Kowalski would get along with engineer solely for their profession. They're both different in personality, Kowalski being more obviously erratic while Engineer's more subtly unhinged. Though I think Engineer's more subtle nature could play off Kowalski's emotional nature quite well while they discuss inventions....that or they feed off each others' insanity and invent something catastrophic. Either way, fun!

Perhaps the most unexpected I think, is how well Private gets along with Pyro. They both like unicorns after all! I maintain that Pyro has a rather fun loving nature in spite of their tendency to burn everything, and I feel like that would mesh well with private. Perhaps Private can keep them in check as well as pyro encouraging Private to be bolder. I feel like private could understand them as well.

Another profession related interaction, but Rico would definitely be amused by Demoman's affinity for explosives, and Demoman would be amused by Rico's tendency to vomit random objects. They also both just have this impulsive, fun loving, do or die attitude in their work that I think would mesh well. Unlike Pyro and Private, I don't think Demoman would understand Rico verbally, but they're always pretty much on the same page.

Bonus: Marlene and Miss Pauling would also get along pretty nicely.
