im gonna be a dickhead for a second cause this is actually pissing me off:
i NEED y’all to deep the fact that most of these players do not care about what this man has done. carlos will probably shake his hand on sunday. maybe even a hug. they will compliment each other during the trophy presentation. no doubt the players will be asked again about the trial and no doubt the VAST majority of them will give the same non-answers as in australia. many of them are friends with him. many of these ‘friends’ are your faves. i’m not telling you to change your allegiance or find new players to be fans of or anything of that sort (this is the nature of sports, unfortunately a lot of them are very very flawed people, including many of the players i am a fan of). but i cannot sit here and watch all y’all go on saying ‘omg carlitos needs to defeat the evil on sunday 😣😖😫’ he literally does not care. most of them don’t. please, for the love of god, for everybody’s sake, i need us to understand this.
#alexander zverev#once again for blacklisting#look i get it i do#do i want carlos to win on sunday? abso-fucking-lutely!!#even if he was playing a different opponent#but can we not sit here and pretend like he’s some sort of hero sent from god to rid the tournament of this blight?#zverev’s actions are not some sort of superhero origin story#he’s not like a cartoon villain waiting for superman to swoop and defeat him to the oohs and aahs of the crowd#his crimes are not there so we can prop up whoever is good enough to beat him#stop using him as a tool to create a narrative for your favorite player to win#most of them are complicit in the atp’s non-action#you need to disconnect yourself for a second and remember the reality of the situation#it’s not about the tennis and it never should be made about the tennis#this is a real abuser who cause real harm and will not suffer any consequences#and is actively being protected not only by the organization but also by his peers#applauded by the media and fawned over by the fans#elected to the players council by his peers#please. please. we must give ourselves these reality checks.

All of Garu/Karu's collars so far
Which one is your favorite?
Bonus: and how come they change? Are the outfit makers manufacturing a new collar and replacing his gemstone(gemstones?) each time? And especially for cowboy Garu (which by the way, he & Eiden got their outfits in a random shop, so it wasn't provided by Aster for once)... the gemstones changed to spikes too. Whats going on xD
Some interesting facts (and bonus theorizing):
Forgotten Fruit, Binary Starlight, and Stampeding adventurer are customized (although N & R are also different).
Ethereal Guardian, R, and N are the only ones without a leash/something dangling off the collar.
Much like Quincy, Edmond, and Olivine, it is a little unclear which gem was his actual gemstone and which are... decorative? However, that slightly contradicts with canon because Gramps found him with broken gemstone pieces. It is possible that Gramps fused the broken gem pieces back into one, but that doesn't explain the other blue gems that appear on the rest of the collar that sometimes are missing (Forgotten Fruit) or suddenly change shape (Stampeding adventurer). We can reasonably assume that at least the center-most gem that is always circular was the original or very close to the original.
It's also very interesting how people react to the collar.
No one is trying to steal Yakumo/Rei's ears or Edmond/Quincy's hands, which also look like accessories. Blade's "gemstone" blends in with his outfits if you don't look at it closely. And obviously no one is going to steal Dante or Kuya's eyes lol. In general, most people have not reacted to the other member's gemstones. But Olivine is interesting.
Actually, let's talk about Olivine & Garu's gems! Olivine can and has occasionally hid his piercings/gemstone. Most people's reactions are sexualizing Olivine and his gemstone blends in with the piercing setup. Garu's is off his body and hypothetically he could stash them anywhere, even a pocket or necklace. But nope, they're on this giant dangerous-looking collar that is difficult to hide and difficult to steal (which is why most people start out with trying to kidnap Garu himself). Most average/ordinary people don't seem to notice this insignificant-seeming wolf yokai displaying a bunch of bulky gems around his neck. But Kolt recognized right away what it actually was. Lone Wolf had a very negative reaction to the collar. And the townspeople in Desert of Dusk thought the collar was expensive jewelry that they could steal. Out of everyone, we're seeing more and more how much it makes G/Karu an unfortunate target. Whereas people's main reaction to Olivine's gemstone/piercing setup is lust. This is very fascinating!
(If any Yakumo fans read this far- did the other serpent yokai/villagers have reactions to Yakumo being born with a gemstone?)
#nu carnival#garu#karu#nu carnival analysis#nu carnival theory#meta#plot twist: his gems are the blue sorcery gems that players use to buy everything. they look exactly the same.#Rei is Gramps theory: the Council is probably what broke Garu's gem originally and Rei was able to chip off his own gem.#What if Rei was breaking off his own gem to figure out how to put Garu's gem back together?

Very curious if there were hardcore dragon age fans on the community council that didn’t have larger social media followings 🤔 like genuinely
#they said there were new players to dragon age on the council#but every time they refer to someone else in the fandom who was with them#it always ended up being someone with an established following and I’m like :/#hopefully that’s just a coincidence???#dragon age#datv

Recent game related things .. hrmm...
#I do like the inconsistency of the first map. that is actually something older but that I re-found and added to my Game Reference stuff#so that when characters reference where they're from I can be accurate. I like that the whole map is kind of shifted up that way. Where the#actual south part doesnt even count as the south since its Too Far and Scary lol. and if you say you're from 'the north' thats basically#like.. one single continent. Though some people do make distinctions like 'north midlands' or etc. still. I like the ways that common#language isn't always precisely accurate like that. and thinking about why a culture would classify things a certain way or etc. etc.#The inventory page is so funny to me because it's literally just the BASe like.. sample layout just to make sure it works properly with 0#actual design into it. just colored rectangles thrown together in MS paint. but what if I like... left it like that.. what if all the other#art in the game and UI is like stylized and fully matching BUT the inventory/journal/etc. screens I just left as plain colored blocks#with random misalignments and black spots and etc gjhbhjj... It looks unfinished in a Funny Contrast way to me.#the wordcounts are just like... my past few days of writing.. I am still not getting 2200 words a day done or whatever I needed. I'm lucky#if it's even half of that .... tee hee.. :3c I do also keep having appointments and other things going on but..grrr...#The full map of the area is probably not necessary but I thought it would be more realisitc if people were able to reference things. Like i#you have people all living in a city area probably at some point someone might mention a neighboring city or some landmark nearby#or etc. so I thought having at least the basic names of what's around for reference would be sensible. A side character mentioning#'oh yeah I don't live here full time I just travel from Marisene sometimes' or whatever makes it seem more like a Real#Fleshed Out Place than people just making vague references like 'the river' or 'i come from a city nearby' or 'i went to a place somewhere#around here' or 'the other city' or etc. lol.. Especially since global cities/global areas are weird as they operate almost like an#independent country within their walls. so it's like a micro country inside of another country usually. just plopped down in some agreed#upon plot of land that won't be too disruptive to the main country around it. That could get very complex depending on the cultural and#political backdrop of where they're placed (though obviously they try to choose the 'easiest' areas possible for it). Asen is a very mild#country without much history of conflict or anything so it's fine. But still interesting that Sifeh and the entire branched out global area#border three other districts of Asen. Which means like 3 times the local representitives you'l have to negotiate with for some major change#or anything. I think one of the 'random characters you can find around the world and have short discussions with just to make the area#feel more populated and real even though theyre not actual important npcs' is going to be a guy who actually serves on the council that#handles running the global areas and he's like.. some perpetually exhausted middle aged elf running around with a clipboard or whatever#ANYWAY...... hrgh... still trying to write when I can....#I WISH so badly that I had the scope for a simple character creation menu and all character interactions would allot for the background#of your player character. And also to have a simple day night cycle where places in the world you explore/people you talk to during the day#have new options or dialogue at night.. BUT alas... I already am so behind on everything as is lol.. aughhh... T o T#As the worlds number one Needless Detail And Complexity Enjoyer i must dilligently prevent myself from adding additional complexity

September: Okay, first I'd like to introduce our newest Revolutionary, the Director of the Railway, and I'd like to thank them for their generous gift of two echos, which they handed me outside this morning. Not necessary, but much appreciated.
January: Why'd you give him two dollars?
The Director: I thought he was homeless

chris avellone really likes making the actions necessitated by gameplay an aspect OF the player character, and i love that
#Shitpost#its here in fnv lonesome road with Ulysses saying we couldve turned back but he knew he wouldnt#ie. A player is going to complete the quest and dlc. And the character will do so as well as a courier#and this is also present in kotor2 ESPECIALLY the jedi council scene when they talk about. Literally how you gained expierence#for the whole game#its fun. Definitely smaller here vs how its a thesis in all of kotor2#since avellone was only lead on some of these dlc#BUT. its here. Its his touch.#and yeah hes pretentious and sort of shitty but i love his writing so. I dont care lol.

Today on G-Witch,
Miorine learns there are consequences to listening to Prospera, Prospera is The Worst, kids are dumb, and there still way too many factions in this show to keep up with!
#gundam witch from mercury#gundam#the witch from mercury#g-witch#g witch#gundam utena#the assembly/high council should have been more active players from the start ^^''#rather than a few mentions#give us characters to associate with the council#show the relationship between them and benerit more clearly#now that they're becoming more active players it's harder to keep up with#anyway I liked Martin's scenes in this episode#it was a hard question! how to face your friends when you've sold one of them out for being a terrorist during a terror attack#i like the earthians are mature about it#they get that they may have done the same thing but are also conflicted about nika#spoilers

me, in a video game: *chooses the bad option* NPCs: good god! how can you say that? you don't mean that! me, who's been consistently choosing these options since the start of the game: -_-
#you're so kind and heroic my 4th victim tells me as they lay dying#i'm thinking of you end of mass effect when my renegade told udina that she killed the council on purpose to get them out of the way#and anderson literally says good god shepard how can you say that#to a shepard that publicly supports terra firma and is constantly vaguely antialien and was nothing but bitchy to the council#shout out to udina though for not being surprised at all#another one is in the walking dead telltalle if clementine supports kenny's rights to randomly beat people the fuck up#everyone is shocked and tells her she doesn't mean it#god the absolute BEST scene i ever had in twd telltale though#if you support kenny throughout and then don't in the last scene when he's beating that kid up he will accidentally hit you#as he's trying to hit the other kid he just accidentally gets clem cause she's running toward him to stop him#and he looks at her with the coldest anger and goes “What? Lost your taste for this kinda thing?”#i got CHILLS#anyway challenge: tell me you don't expect players to pick this dialogue option without telling me you don't expect players to pick it

"Because Richard (III) usurped the throne, his retinue is inevitably seen as inimical to the crown and therefore in an important sense independent of royal authority. In the context of Edward IV's reign, in which the retinue was created, neither assumption is true. The development of the retinue would have been impossible without royal backing and reflected, rather than negated, the king's authority. Within the north itself, Gloucester's connection subsumed that of the crown. Elsewhere, in East Anglia and in Wales, that focus for royal servants was provided by others, but Gloucester was still part of that royal connection, not remote from it. In the rest of England, as constable and admiral, he had contributed to the enforcement of royal authority. When he seized power in 1483 he did not do it from outside the prevailing political structure but from its heart."
-Rosemary Horrox, "Richard III: A Study of Service"
#richard iii#english history#my post#Richard was certainly very powerful in the north but to claim that he 'practically ruled' or was king in all but name is very misleading#his power/success/popularity were not detached from Edward IV's rule but a fundamental part/reflection/extension of Edward IV's rule#even more so that anyone else because he was Edward's own brother#there's also the 1475 clause to consider: Richard & Anne would hold their titles jointly and in descent only as long as George Neville#also had heirs. Otherwise Richard's title would revert to life interest. His power was certainly exceptional but his position wasn't as#absolute or indefinite as is often assumed. It WAS fundamentally tied to his brother's favor just like everyone else#and Richard was evidently aware of that (you could even argue that his actions in 1483 reflected his insecurity in that regard)#once again: when discussing Edward IV's reign & Richard III's subsequent usurpation it's really important to not fall prey to hindsight#for example: A.J Pollard's assumption that Edward IV had no choice but to helplessly give into his overbearing brothers' demands#and had to use all his strength to make Richard to heed to his command which fell apart after he died and Richard was unleashed#(which subsequently forms the basis of Pollard's criticism of Edward IV's reign & character along with his misinterpretation of the actions#of Edward IV's council & its main players after his death who were nowhere near as divided or hostile as Pollard assumes)#is laughably inaccurate. Edward IV was certainly indulgent and was more passive/encouraging where Richard (solely Richard) was concerned#but he was by no means unaware or insert. His backing was necessary to build up Richard's power and he was clearly involved & invested#evidenced by how he systematically depowered George of Clarence (which Clarence explicitly recognized) and empowered Richard#and in any case: to use Richard as an example to generalize assumptions of the power other magnates held during Edward IV's reign#- and to judge Edward's reign with that specific assumption in mind - is extremely misleading and objectively inaccurate#Richard's power was singular and exceptional and undoubtedly tied to the fact that he was Edward's own brother. It wasn't commonplace.#as Horrox says: apart from Richard the power enjoyed by noble associates under Edward IV was fairly analogous to the power enjoyed by#noble associates under Henry VII. and absolutely nobody claims that HE over-powered or was ruled by his nobles or subjects#the idea that Richard's usurpation was 'inevitable' and the direct result of Edward empowering him is laughable#contemporaries unanimously expected Edward V's peaceful succession. Why on earth would anyone - least of all Edward -#expect Richard to usurp his own nephew in a way that went far beyond the political norms of the time?#that was the key reason why the usurpation was possible at all#as David Horspool says: RICHARD was the 'overriding factor' of his own usurpation There's no need to minimize or outright deny his agency#as Charles Ross evidently did
