In retrospect it's weird that I had a Computer Science Class for 3 years in middle school and I never learned how to use like. Excel. HTML. Literally anything.

Glimpse of who I am, subject expectations, & chosen elective.

ABOUT MYSELF

Good day awesome person! I am Racean Vince C. Mangarin, I was born and raised here in this wonderful city, Davao City. Currently studying Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in the University of Southeastern Philippines. First of all, I didn't know what really pushed me to enroll on this course, maybe because I love computer and science. But it’s not about science that I was expecting, it’s about the theories of computing and the study of how did computing began and progresses.

I didn't regret studying in this university to be part of my journey. It’s because it offers reliable and provide quality education for the student. Also, it’s like a simple transition from high school to college because of the same atmosphere from secondary to tertiary level because I came from a public school, Davao City National High School.

Honestly, I am not fond of doing homework or assignments, most of the time I play either computer games or watch movies. Also, other than that, I am really into sports, especially basketball and soccer or football. I experienced many injuries because of it and still continue to play even I know that I have a mild dextroscoliosis of the thoracic spine which may me dangerous if I exert to much power in playing sports. Sometimes I feel something is pinching the center part or the thoracic of the spine like a needle and it really hurts.

One of my passion was photography, taking random shots of the nature, people, and etc. In this way, I can share what my “blurry eyes” saw in the scenery. Even if I have an increasing grade in both of my eyes because of too much exposure to computer I think and maybe its true. I can still appreciate the beauty of nature without my eyeglasses. But my passion for photography diminished slowly because of lack of inspiration on it and my favorite phone died and I have no plan of buying a new one.

For now, I’m focusing on finishing this course to help me in the future and thats a glimpse of who I am.

SUBJECT EXPECTATIONS

Honestly I don't have any idea or knowledge about what is elective or free elective is, so I researched about it and to find out there are a lot of electives to select. All I can say that it will be a challenging subject for me because now is the time for us to embrace real world application of what we have learned in the past school year and semesters. Also, I expect that I will learn new things from this class to strengthen my computer science skills.               

CHOSEN ELECTIVE

It’s between Data Mining or Business Intelligence because for me, it is essential to what we do today. Like in Data Mining, it’s the process of sorting large and vast data to find the solution by data analysis which used for example in games and business. On the other hand, Business Intelligence is like a perfect combo for data mining, especially for business oriented system. From this, if I can learn between the two, it can help me on what will be my specialty as a computer science student in the future.
