most planty pal thing in the duke's children and possibly the entire palliser series is when he's hosting both his son's former love interest (who he still believes his son is going to propose to soon) and his son's current love interest (who is *shudders* american) at his home, completely misses the drama going on between them and makes both of them separately read his pamphlet on decimal coinage
