If you're ever in Tucson, AZ, visit Arid Lands Greenhouses!!! It's a fantastic succulent & cactus nursery growing the most vibrant, interesting plants for sale in Arizona- and maybe the entire US! I fell in love with their Euphorbiaceae collection and walked out with WAY too many plants (a big ouch for the bank account but I can't say I'm feeling any pain surrounded by my new babies). This mandala was inspired by these beautiful Euphorb blooms on a plant I didn't take home. I'm thinking of printing this design on a few large sheets of watercolor paper and giving each a unique paint job. I can't wait to do more plant mandalas in the future!! I didn't have anything specifically creative to work on today to be able to slip into that FLOW space but I reflected on what gets me in that space when I DO create. Plant patterns and especially the succulent patterns I often draw in my illustrations get me into that creative flow.
