After several weeks of being too tired to do much of anything, I've finally cleaned up my fish tank a bit!

It still looks a bit messy and the aquascape isn't anywhere near what I want it to look like yet, I'm gradually adding more plants when I can afford to. Hoping to add frogbit next so the fish feel more sheltered and the roots fill out the top area more.

There's quite a persistent algae problem at the moment (some of that in the picture is java moss not algae) but it's sort of fluffy and cute so I don't mind too much for now. Next year I'm planning to start adding a few more creatures, namely some cherry shrimp and possibly cherry barbs depending on what their needs are. The shrimp will massively help with the algae but I am a little worried they'll eat all my moss. I like my moss.

I trimmed the pearlweed in my Walstad method pearlweed jungle tank to make space for some Medaka rice fish, and it's nice to see my Bloody Mary Neocaridina shrimp in all their glory!

My pothos plant had taken quiet well to the aquarium. In fact it's most recent growth has produced some pretty huge leaves compared to its neighbors. There's a few as big as my hand! (Excuse the debris in the water, Im currently performing maintenance while taking these photos. I scrapped the algae buildup off the back wall and I'm waiting for it to settle closer to the bottom so I can vacuum it out.)

It’s pretty awesome how a lot of the plants im growing with aquaponics have been thriving and putting off tons of new growth even though it’s not really the recommended way to grow the plants. I feel like a mad scientist who is just stumbling into great results

Thought this would be a fun project - trying all red and pink plants along a white / pink betta. Really happy with how it’s all growing in.
