#placebo. taking back Sunday. the rest of the guys in mcr! they were all cool with touring with a band where the singer said the n word

mcr is cringe cuz gerard married a lady who is ok with some dude who isnt black saying the n word. they married a person ok with racism
There’s so much to this ask that has been discussed at length that even simplifying the issue to your ask feels harmful and dismissive of the reality of racism. Not getting into that. My question is why jump through those hoops. Gerard was good friends with that man who said the n word and in fact watched him sing on stage multiple times!!! No need to bring his wife into this! It’s much easier!

Ok, u know what? Actually I’m Gonna fully go off abt music taste bc Im petty today and I’m that bitch.
Like yes this is a reaction to 1 snarky post I had to see but I’m gonna say it. I’m a grown ass adult and a musician, who’s listened to a lot of music from different genres and considers myself to be a somewhat decent judge of it and understand that my opinions are just opinions...
To me bands like placebo, the used, thursday, taking back Sunday, etc etc, are just..... boring. I still listen to just like, a few of each of their songs, but I have listened to their albums and tried to ‘get into them’ multiple times, and haven’t been able to. Because I’ve heard plenty of other bands that sound pretty much just like them, the lyrics don’t stand out as anything particularly unique, overall it doesn’t stand out to me or capture me or cause me to want to just... listen to one of their albums regularly, or become super attached to their music. I’ve just. Heard it all before.
(Early) panic at the disco, fall out boy, 21 pilots (idk if I wanna count trench but the rest of their music checks out) are literally.... not objectively worse than any of those bands. The difference between these bands is...... the latter are pop. I mean. There’s a lot of other differences too. With early panic and FOB, I tend to just like their sound a lot more (it sounds newer, more melodic, the 2000s pop vibe is a sound ive always been particularly drawn to), and vibe more with the lyrics and writing style. There is literally nothing that stands out to me that would cause any of the previously listed bands to be musically superior in any way? (Once again, I’m talking just abt early panic... I get that the newer their stuff is the worse). Then there’s 21p. Listen. They bring more genre influences into their music than any of the bands previously listed. Like cool, the used writes edgy rock music. Thursday sounds like every other early 2000s alt rock band. What is so special about that. It’s not a new sound, it’s not innovative. Combining the influences of rap, hip hop, pop, alt rock, reggae, folk, indie and electronic..... if that existed before 21p broke into the mainstream, I sure as hell hadn’t heard it before. I genuinely can’t say the same for any of the basic ass rock bands y’all put on such a pedestal, and then act condescending as fuck to people like me about for liking emo pop more.
This is coming from someone who doesn’t listen to solely Rock music, okay. Im super into musicians I haven’t mentioned in this post, who aren’t directly connected to the ‘emo’ genre. I’m really into pop and hip hop, more rap respectively as well. You guys just really sound like ignorant af “Rock is the only good music!” Assholes sometimes. And I think the reason this attitude really peeves me is you guys sound EXACTLY like the same people who were always shitting on the music we enjoy in the same exact way (such as like, mcr and Green Day etc), 10 years ago. Please get the fuck over yourselves.
