I just love how the "Only Friends" team gave us so many spoilers but still managed to clown us and keep us in the dark.

I mean from the so many contents we got during the filming time we all had an idea in mind about each couple's dynamic

For instance I myself thought

TopMew are gonna be the sweet boyfriends going on dates, having fun, having healthy conversations when in reality they are barely talking, Top sees Mew mostly as a prize/challenge, Both are fighting for the power dominance in the relationship, they don't have any trust on eo, Mew is determined to do the "right thing" by offering his affection as a reward for quitting addiction which we all know never works. Their relationship in overall is a mess with just a "boyfriends" tag which is kind of blinding both them and the people around them from seeing how not good for eo they are

SandRay are gonna be the friends to lovera type of couples where one is totally sure about his feelings and the other ia clueless but refuses to let go of their "friendship" and acts like a possessive cat whenever someone tries to get with his "friend" (I may even be correct with this prediction)

BostonNick I thought will be the couple we will see the least of, won't have much plot to their relationship except sex and Boston will totally ignore Nick out of bed which (Idc if anyone disagrees) he is not, Boston is totally leading Nick on emotionally and we are seeing fair share of their scenes, infact if anything they are the creators of most of the drama in the series and their mess is probably gonna take the longest to solve. Definitely not a short running pair and has a lot of things going on in their "situationship" or whatever.

So as the episodes are coming out I am eventually realising that what we saw/the source of our assumptions were all based on the first few episodes. They gave nothing away and spoiled next to nothing. I am totally clueless about what is going to happen after episode 5.

And yeah don't say that "well your fault for thinking they will give everything away before the original episodes release" I am not saying that they will or they should. But the amount of "ongoing shoot" content we were getting I was a biiiit confident that I have figured out the show. Ik very arrogant of me but that's the thing the Western film industry is so secretive about their projects that it makes us think that getting some behind the scenes will be able to spoil the fun for us.

Anyways kudos to the team for this amazing marketing. They are literally keeping me on the edge of my seat.

Ps I am quite new in this bl fandom and ofts is the first show I have fully been invested in so that's why is amazes me. Most of you probably find this post stupid and old news. Please ignore if you do thanku.

I always love watching shows which have a touch of reality. But when it comes to queer shows, more often than not showmakers think that reality has to be dealing with the queerness. Which often leads to themes like homophobia, internal struggles, coming out, social acceptance, marriage equality etc. And I don't say that such themes should not be there but sometimes you get tired of them. Then there are shows where characters happen to be queer but then everything is so rosy and dreamy it also feels over the top. I don't mind such shows too once in a while.

But there are very few shows which are realistic based on ground reality where the characters happen to be queer and the drama is just everyday life drama.

The only other show I have watched like this is "Looking". It's a great little show with real to life queer couples.

And for this reason I think "Only friends" is important and might be a little wind changing drama.

I am really thankful for P'Jojo and team for making a show like this.

I can tell however it ends this show is going to end up as one of my favourites.

okay so i am crying about fadel and his boyfriend slow dancing ahhhhhhh!!! and not to go all religious symbolism (though there is a ton in this show and i find it so interesting) but i have to talk about this scene

I'm agnostic now but i grew up religious in the Christian church and am queer so this scene really hit me hard.

it's the dichotomy between watching two queer men in love slow dancing to a worship song. "biblical" religion is often misused to harm the queer and people of color so this scene is a double bird to that ideology.

the lyrics:

nothing below / nothing above / no matter how low i get / lord you are enough / nothing can separate me from your love

and really when i did 100% believe in god, i believed in the love of god and the love that connected each human being regardless of gender or societal expectation and this scene felt like P'Jojo really took that and plastered it on the screen

and ahhhhh i love this scene so much.

crazy that a queer thai show can better symbolize the love of god better than 20 years in the church did

AHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS MUST BE FAR MY MOST FAV EPISODE OF THE SHOW.

yes top should have been called out for his actions the previous night, his manipulative takeover of mew's day out with his moms should not have been framed as a "cute" moment but for being the only guy feeding the mess this time around one cant ignore his contributions.

Ray fed the mess too but somehow his talk with Mew seems to have sorted that out between themselves a bit too sorted for the sorta mess im used to from this show...a bit too sorted than people would react when both sides did different wrongs to eo..i woulda been happier if we had gotten a mini meltdown from mew and then they got to talking it out but ig in such high emotion time no genuine conversation could happen...which is why eventho its a bit too smooth to be true im still glad we got that raymew convo...when they told eo i love you and then hugged it was SUCH a precious moment

but definitely not more than that kiss that ray planted on sand's cheek after they made love after that heart to heart they had. i am gonna ignore some weird death foreshadowing thats happening cos NO that is not happening to ray. NOT ON MY WATCH. i cant handle thinking he would lose his life so young so soon, despite his faults i adore the boy SO SUE ME and i definitely cannot handle another sobbing boy at a funeral. not even a year has passed i just CANNOT .

and definitely definitely not more than that absolute gem of a scene involving sand nick being cute besties having fun talking, trying something out, (WE GOT THAT SAND NICK KISSS) laughing about it and then deciding to cuddle and sleep like my gawd the aroace in me died went to heaven and came back i was THAT ecstatic about the whole thing. its definitely the best thing that this incredible show has given me. i will never not be grateful for it.

also shout out to my boy MARK. i know the character is nick and i LOVED him throughout the episode except that moment where he was listening to boston and that other dude getting it on, but he's so earnest and so genuine and sees the good in the worst its really tough not to like him, as boston realizes this episode...loved that boston nick hug in ep 10 teaser...but also wth is show gonna do in last 3 eps...i do NOT get what they could fill it up with unless some major twist happens and as long as its not a sandnickcheumrayaprilyo death i'd survive. but gawd back to what i was gonna say which is that i ADORE how mark has played his role. i love him to bits and i really REALLY want to see him do a show as THE main lead...he's got the looks and boy has he got the talent. COME ON GMMTV. GIVE US IT.

I think the scenes that NLMG did well they did really well, there was just a fair amount of scenes that were neutral.

I am not as annoyed by the 11th hour breakup as I usually am with this trope, because it truly seems in character for Palm, but it made the ending feel extremely rushed. I worry Palmnueng have created a pattern of "noble desertion leads to promises to be together forever" for themselves and would have liked to see them break that within the show.

Overall despite these ending reservations I give the show 8/10 as I had quite a good time watching it and there were many scenes that have become favourites of mine (looking at you tackle back hug when Nueng first tries to leave). There was a lot of potential in the show and characters, and while it didn't fully live up to the hype there were enough glimpses of what it could have been with a more polished script to leave me with positive feelings towards it.

Also I really really loved what an important factor class played in both characterization and storytelling.

Alright, so after the shock that was freaking Drake Sattabut Laedeke showing up in only friends, everyone place your bets on who else is gonna make a cameo. Here's mine:

Gawin — I stand by my statement that there's a chance of P'Jojo bringing back old CPs just to see everyone lose their shit over it, so gawin might damn well be the mystery person first was talking about. Also I think he could pull off a character in a show like only friends well

Mix — Everyone thinks the mystery person is gonna be Mix, and I see it

Ohm Pawat — again, old CP (the shipper), and the fact that this guy is like a BL veteran (he's been in like 5) so I can see how he would probably be more familiar/comfortable w doing NC scenes, which makes him a logical choice. Also, LOL fanfest fireboy stage.

Pond Naravit — again, fireboy stage. Also, didn't he play a stripper in dirty laundry? He could probably pull off a role in only friends. (Or maybe I'm just biased as a pond stan)

Fluke Pusit — also another BL veteran imo, and a good actor. I've seen some clips and he did good in the warp effect, so maybe bcs of that they'll bring him in?

Pjojo: This week, the camera will be focused on #TheHeartKillers. I'm excited to work with new energy, since I've never worked with JoongDunK before, but I found very good chemistry with them. This month, let's focus on FirstKhaotung and JoongDunk will join us shortly after finishing Summer Night. During this time, we will also hold workshops on acting and skills. For this project, I am the director, but the production is handled by the GMM team that worked on Not Me and Fish Upon the Sky. It's a great team.
