âClarisse! Clarisse! Help!â
Said girl whipped around, previously disarming a boy from the Hermes cabin to see you stumbling down the hill, a large flag in your grip.
âClarisse! I got it!â You stated the obvious, pointing at it while stumbling over your feet as Athena, Hephaestus's, and Hermes cabins alike chased after you for their flag.
âGo, go, go!â Clarisse ordered her siblings, running to surround and defend you with the flag.
It was going well, until you tripped and fell flat on your face.
âSeriously?!â Clarisse yelled. âStop yelling at me, Iâm fragile!â You scoffed back as she and her siblings grabbed you by your ankles, dragging you on your back as your armor made it easier against the slick grass.
Chiron could only watch with Dionysus as one cabin dragged a friend by their ankles, and a mob of kids ran after said friend.
âI see why we do this every year.â Dionysus said, almost with a satisfied nod as he watched children fight one another.
Chiron only sighed as he saw you start hitting kids with said flag as you are being dragged by your ankles.

The perils of love
Summary: being in love with Luke seemed to be a bad idea as you realise that he doesn't seem to be interested. But as you get ready to move on from love entirely your father decides to appear and two people fall for you.

Part 2
Luke Castellan, everyone knew him at camp either for his sword skills or just his kind smiles for every camper that walked into the Hermes cabin. You had fallen for him the moment you met him, sweet brown eyes and a kind smile had you into a puddle.Â
You had been twelve, wandering around the Hermes cabin, waiting desperately for your parent to claim you but the days went by, and you still were there. The little girls crush however didnât went by but grew stronger every day you saw the boy who slowly turned into a man that had all the girls going crazy over him. Â
He had been kind to you but there was always a look that you couldnât decipher, until today that was.
âSo, where is your number one fan Luke?â, you hear Chris say in a teasing tone and after a moment you hear Chris say your name, as if to make it clear it was you.Â
âI donât know and frankly I donât have the time to care right now,â Luke says after letting out a sigh, but you felt your chest tighten at the words. Chris snorts at the words and you donât expect what he says next.
âYou know that there is a betting pool as to when the both of you are going to date,â you donât know how Luke reacts, as you are practically one with the wall, but you hear him snort.
âPlease, she is a sweet girl, but I would never date her. I donât know how to explain it but sometimes she can just be a little-â, he seems to be trying to find his words and as you wait for it you feel tears brimming in your eyes at his previous statement.
âClingy? I mean she is practically everywhere you are.â, the words are like a bullet to your heart, particularly when you hear Luke agree.
âI know right, I mean I know that she is still part of the Hermes cabin as she hasnât been claimed yet but still,â you try to blink the tears away, not willing to cry as you hear the words being said by the man you had always looked up to.Â
âMaybe she will never be claimed, I mean after three years,â Chris says, and you can hear the grimace in his voice, he says it with such carelessness as if you havenât been thinking about the same thing every night for the past three years, wondering what was wrong with you.
âWeâll see what happens I guess, but maybe it would be good for her to be in another cabin,â Luke says, he looks like he doesnât want to talk about it anymore, but Chris adds one last phrase to their conversation.
âOr better for you,â there is a quiet hum of agreement and that is the only thing you need before leaving the cabin quietly, the book that you had come for quickly forgotten.
You knew it was pitiful, the fact that they all seemed to know that you liked the Hermes boy and that they all pitied you for it. Because in the end the boy would never go for you, he had a hundred girls waiting for him and yet here you were hoping for the impossible.
Tears are brimming in your eyes, but you quickly brush them away, not wanting to cry after what had happened, you needed to be strong now. It was time for you to get over that stupid crush and get on with your life, maybe if you trained more your godly parent would finally recognize you and claim you.
âWhat are you doing here all alone?â, you suddenly hear someone say behind you and you turn around to find Annabeth looking at you with worried eyes.
âThinking, the lake always seems to sooth me,â you say, the words coming a bit weaker than you intended them too. The girl simply nods at your words before sitting down next to you.
âWhat about you?â, you quietly ask her, and she lets out a sigh.
âNeeded to get out a little bit, I can only strategise so much before going crazy,â she says with a small smile, and you canât help but smile at her words.
âIâm sure your strategy will be incredible, as always,â you tell her and she simply nods, looking too far into her thoughts.
âChiron is thinking of splitting up the Hermes cabin,â she suddenly says, and you turn to look at her in surprise.
âReally? How so?â, you canât help but ask, wondering if this is maybe your chance to get a bit away from a certain Hermes boy.
âHe thinks that the unclaimed children and children of minor gods should get the chance to chose in which team they want to be,â she looks conflicted, and you can understand why, this could mean less people for the blue team, her team.
âIt seems like a kind gesture,â you canât help but say and Annabeth nods in agreement.
âIt is, although he couldâve said it sooner, now we all need to find a different strategy and we are going crazy with figuring out who will be on our team,â she seems overwhelmed, and you canât help but put your hand on her shoulder trying to calm her down.
âHey, calm down it will all be alright,â you tell her, and she takes a deep breath before slowly nodding in agreement.
âI know, I just donât want to lose,â she says with a pout, and you can finally see the twelve-year-old she really is, that childlike excitement at the thought of capture the flag.
The both of you are deep in thought before her voice breaks the silence, her voice small as she talks.
âWhich team are you choosing?â, it was probably a valid question to ask, you were unclaimed so you could technically choose which team to be on, but you just couldnât get the previous conversation you had heard out of your head.
âThe fact that you arenât saying anything makes me think that you are going to go on the red team,â it seems like she is trying to tease you but there is some sort of hurt woven into her words.
âDonât take it personally,â you canât help but say, as much as you wouldâve liked staying on the blue team you just couldnât bear to be that close to Luke after what you had heard. You didnât know what you would be doing tonight as you were sleeping in the same cabin as always, but he wouldnât pay attention to you not unless you went to him.
âDid something happened with Luke?â, the carefully asked question makes you look at Annabeth with wide eyes, she had an understanding look in her eyes and you couldnât help but curse the fact that she was Athenaâs daughter.
âNothing happened, I just realised that maybe I should get to know other people and that maybe it would get me out of my comfort zone,â there are a lot of things unsaid, Annabeth knows it too. Luckily, she doesnât know of the conversation you had heard, or the fact that the words had cut you deeper than you couldâve ever thought they would.Â
âYou should probably tell Chiron and the red team, I heard that they were planning a strategy evening to talk about what they were going to do tomorrow,â you try to find anger in Annabethâs eyes but there is only understanding and a lingering sadness that seems to disappear as you get up.
âGood idea, I will be doing that right now. Good luck on the strategy and donât drive yourself crazy Annabeth you will do great,â you tell her, and a sweet smile appears on her lips as she nods slowly making you smile at her.
âDonât be a stranger!â, she yells as you are about to leave, and you turn around to smile at her.
âI wonât!â, she looks reassured at the words before turning back to the water, leaving you to go towards Chiron office.Â
--
âA little birdie told me you were on the red team,â you hear someone say and turn around to find Clarisse smirking at you.
âWould that little birdie be Chiron?â, you ask, feeling breathless after trying to stab the dummy about a hundredth time with your sword.
âI donât reveal my sources princess,â she says with a smirk while you feel your cheeks heat up, you tell yourself itâs because of the work out you just did.
âWe have a meeting tonight, after dinner at the Ares cabin,â she says while looking around the rink before picking up a sword.
âIâll be there,â you tell her, expecting the girl to leave you alone but she just comes closer to you.
âAfter that there is a movie night and a sleepover, one of the Aphrodite kids managed to convince Chiron to allow it,â the words leave you confused for a moment, how would you even have a movie night with all these people.
âOnly a few people are invited for that part,â she clarifies, and you feel breathless at the sight of her warm brown eyes, seemingly forgetting about other brown eyes.
âHow come I am invited?â, you canât help but ask, wondering why the Ares girl suddenly seemed sweet to you when she was practically attacking anyone else.Â
âDonât ask too many questions or youâll be uninvited princess,â the nickname rolls of her tongue in a way that makes your cheeks go red, once again.
âFine Iâll stop asking questions and just come with my pajamaâs,â you tell her, and a satisfied grin makes his way on her lips.
âGood, now back to serious stuff you were holding your sword the wrong way,â she says like itâs a fact, as if she was pointing out that the sky was blue.
âNo, I wasnât!â, you canât help but say looking at her with wide eyes.
âYes, it is, let me help you fix it. I need the best people on my team after all,â you get ready to object but as you feel her get behind you putting her hand over yours on the sword to put your hand correctly you find yourself speechless.
The next hour is spent fighting against each other, but you canât stop laughing as Clarisse tells you stories of her siblings to try and distract you, which ultimately works as you often end up on your ass. You donât even seem to notice another pair of brown eyes looking at you, farther away, brows furrowed as he looks at the scene in front of him.
--
âWelcome to the exclusive sleepover,â you hear a soft voice say and you turn around to find Silena smiling kindly at you, two glasses in her hands before giving one to you.
âThank you, guess they really were exclusive as I had never heard of them before,â you say, feeling a bit nervous as you look around the room only to find Clarisse in a heated discussion with another Aphrodite girl.
âClarisse only invites people that she trusts or likes, which isnât many, but she does cares for them,â Silena smiles at the Ares girl in front of you and you canât help but do the same, Clarisse always seemed to be angry but in that moment, she seemed far more softer.
âIâm glad she trusts me,â you say, somehow missing the look Silena gives you, a look of confusion as you seem to have missed her clue on Clarisse liking you.
Clarisse had always been discrete about it, but Silena had caught her looking at you far too often to not know about it. Her fingers always seemed to itch when you were sword fighting, as if she was itching to get your posture right and to be able to touch you even for just a few seconds. You only had eyes for the Castellan boy, or it seemed that way until yesterday when Chiron told them that you would be on their team. Silena didnât ask much of her mother but in that moment, she couldnât help but ask her mother for help to get the both of you together. Clarisse deserved her happy ending and you deserved someone who would love you for who you were.
She gets woken from her thoughts as she hears Clarisse talking to you, there is a nervousness in her gestures as she pushes her hair behind her ear, but you donât seem to realize it as you recount a story. Silena quietly gets up from her spot, and sends and encouraging look towards Clarisse, who seems a bit more at ease now.Â
--
Capture the flag is a mess, more than the last time but you try not to let your mind wander too long. A boy that you think is from the Hephaestus cabin runs towards you and you sigh in annoyance before starting to fight against him, quickly âkillingâ him and making him surrender.Â
You had been tasked with trying to find the blue flag, but it seemed as if Annabeth had found a really good spot this time, and she had put more people in defense. After a while you wondered if you had the wrong hunch until you saw something blue flickering in the reflection of your sword. As you turned to look behind you, you saw the blue flag but weirdly there was no one around it.
âThis feels like a trap,â you canât help but whisper under your breath as you try to hide behind the bushes but a blade against your neck makes you stop in your steps.
âSorry, but I need to do this,â you hear someone say and you turn around to find a sheepish Percy looking at you.
âHi Percy,â you say with a kind smile and the boy smiles back, looking reassured that you arenât mad or swinging your sword at him.
âHow are you doing?â, you canât help but ask, you hadnât seen him since he had been claimed by Poseidon, but the boy seemed healthy.
âGood, well as good as you can when you learn that your father is one of the big threeâs and that your life will be a hellhole,â he says with a roll of his eyes, and you canât help but snort.
âStill as sarcastic I see,â you canât help but say while laughing and a sheepish grin forms itself on his lips.
âCanât help it,â he says while shrugging his shoulders.
âItâs a shame you arenât on our team,â he says quietly, and you smile softly, the two of you had talked a lot when he had arrived, and you felt close to him.
âMaybe next time,â you tell him and the boy smiles at the answer before asking you a question and the two of you talk for a moment before you hear a battle cry and see the red team suddenly making their way in the clearing, the blue team also appearing.
Percy and you look at each other with wide eyes before you take out your sword.
âIf you donât say anything about this, I wonât say anything,â Percy nods quickly and the both of you break away from the tree you were behind before joining your team as Percy joins his.
An Apollo girl comes running towards you, but you quickly manage to disarm her, others following behind her, but you are in such a haze that you donât realize how close you are getting to the flag. That is until you are met with a familiar blade, Lukeâs.Â
The boy is looking at you, slightly out of breath from the fighting just like you.
âYou can always abandon now sweetheart,â he says and canât help but blush slightly at the familiar nickname.Â
âNo chance Castellan, give me your worst,â this seems to make the boy laugh before he quickly wields his swords, yours clashing against his in familiar movements. You had fought many times against Luke as he had taught you how to fight but you had a new trick up your sleeve that Clarisse had taught you. She had told you that his left leg was his weakness, a bruise that had never really fully recovered.Â
So, when the opportunity presents itself, you wield your sword against his left leg, making sure not to hurt him too much. But as you hit the spot Luke winces in pain and his sword leaves his hand. You donât think at that point and simply continue straight to the flag, whispering a soft âsorryâ as you go to the Hermes boy.
You manage to take the flag before seeing Percy coming towards you with his sword, you expect the hit, but he seems transfixed, looking at something above you. There is a loud silence, on a battlefield that was filled with battle cries just a second ago.
Chironâs voice suddenly comes up, suddenly saying your name.
âDaughter of Zeus, king of the gods,â the rest of his words are lost as you look up, only to see the symbol of Zeus above your head, your fatherâs symbol.
You didnât know how to feel, you had been waiting for so long but now that it was happening you just felt lost. Why was he claiming you right now?
âCongratulations! Seems like we are cousins now,â you suddenly hear Percy say, he has a bright smile on his lips, but there is also sadness in his eyes. It takes you a few seconds to understand why, you were now a child of the big three, which meant your life was about to be a hellhole as Percy had said.
âAlways though there was something familiar between the two of us,â you try to say in a teasing tone, but it falls flat, Percy nodding in understanding.
As you turn around to look at the rest of the camp you see Luke looking at you with wide brown eyes, as if he was seeing you for the first time. You turn your gaze towards Clarisse who is looking at you with a proud smile and something else that you canât quite understand.
There was surely a lot of trouble coming but not the one you were expecting, it would be far more complicated than monsters or a father that decided to appear after fifteen years. Matters of the heart were after all the most complicated of all, particularly between a daughter of Zeus, a daughter of Ares and a son of Hermes.Â

â SHARING IS CARING
pairings: clarisse la rue x aphrodite!daughter!reader, luke castellan x aphrodite!daughter!reader
summary: the whole camp believes you to be sunshine personified, everyones bestfriend. and being absolutely stunning as well as off limits unless they want your girlfriend breaking every bone in their body. but it seems a certain friend of yours canât help his feelings for you, and your girlfriend?
warnings: iâve gone mental, fluff, threatening, violence, protective clarisse, kinda naive reader ngl, luke is lovesick and is confused about his feelings, not proof read
a/n: basically the two of them agreeing to be with you and now you have attack dogs <3
if there was one thing everybody at camp half-blood could agree on, it was that they all loved you. even if they acted differently, the idea of hating you was practically foreign.
for as long as you could remember, even if itâd only been two years, youâd been there, itâd been your home. and for as long as you could remember, youâd been best friends with luke castellan. he was unbelievably helpful when you first arrived, shy and sweet but overtime you opened up to him.
of course you were nice to everybody, but to your friends you were on a whole other level. almost motherly in a sense, always concerned for their well-being, their health and them over all. luke was no exception, if anything, you cared for him the most. but that was before clarisse came along.
even if luke wouldnât admit it, he liked the attention. for once someone was caring for him, going out of their way to help him. you were always right there when he needed you, and heâd gotten used to being by your side. whether at breakfast in the morning, or by the creek at night the two of you went out of your way to be together.
and over your time together he not only began to feel protective over you but also something else. it creeped up on him, yes, but it wasnât all that surprising with you being the daughter of aphrodite.
he found himself wondering if you felt the same for him, or if you were indifferent. with developing feelings came changes of attitude, he found himself annoyed. not at you of course, never at you, but at himself. he felt as if he had a real friend, someone he trusted truly yet it was as if his own body was sabotaging him with feelings. he didnât want it to change, your relationship, not wanting to risk what you had.
but then late at night heâd find himself daydreaming.
holding your hand when walking together, cutting up your pancakes for you, securing your armour himself, sitting closer to you by the campfire, your sweet eyes looking up at him everyday, filled with even more love than usual. maybe even staring down other campers, who for some reason, had the silly thought that they could make a pass at you.
heâd overheard one of the new girls talking about her own crush on a girl. luke hadnât meant to, of course, but he was currently sitting on the shore, cleaning off his muddy helmet. she rambled on about the girl she liked, how she walked and talked, how she smiled, how she daydreamed. he felt his throat tighten at the words, it was as if his own crush was being described.
then, she began to talk about a certain daydream she loved having, the fight scenario. in which her crush was training and perhaps losing, the other person being a bit too harsh to the point where she herself had to step in and save her girl.
the idea of being a saviour.
he thought it was stupid, his head was telling him so. but his heart thought differently and he secretly agreed. the idea of saving you, your hands clinging onto his arms for safety, teary eyes and rows of praise and thanks from you. fucks sake, he wanted it.
he wanted you.
but again, your time together, and his plans to be with you were cut short, a certain ares girl beating him to the punch.
the irony was not lost on luke at all. the first time youâd gotten a sliver of niceness from clarisse was when the two of you were walking together from the strawberry fields, having picked a fresh bundle on account of mr d randomly asking for them.
âis there such a thing as strawberry alcohol? is he going to try and have someone make it for him?â you joked as the two of you made your trek to the big house. âmaybe heâll eat them and pretend their alcohol-infused grapes.â luke laughed as your eyebrows scrunched together, âyou can do that?â
the two of you continued on, sneaking a few strawberries here and there, of which mr d had sworn heâd be able to tell if any were missing. jake lockly, a new boy, was hot on your tail. he was brash and arrogant, handsome yes, but his personality was more than enough to send a girl running. and he had his eyes set on you, the girl everyone seemed to love. he viewed you as nothing more than a challenge, you viewed him as a creep, âhey y/n. youâre looking good today.â jake whistled, a cat call.
now, you were nice, yes, but gods he made it hard. so you figured the best way to react was to not speak at all, a thumbs up was all the acknowledgment you were willing to give and not what he was willing to receive.
âdonât be like that, i know you wanna talk to me.â
his voice was closer this time having picked up his pace. âitâs obvious she doesnât want to talk to you, and itâs pathetic that you keep trying.â luke was so close to dropping the basket, and dropping him. âoh yeah, pretty boy? why donât you go pick some more strawberries.â
you frowned at the comment, pondering the meaning of it, âi picked strawberries, whatâs wrong with that?â jake flashed a toothy grin your way, ânothing princess, keep walking, leave this to the men.â his hand grazed your back.
and jake ended up with his face in the floor, courtesy of clarisse, âtouch her again and iâll break every bone in your body.â jake clutched onto his abdomen as clarisse laughed, and so did luke. âat least you didnât kill him.â luke chuckled, âis he okay?â your shoulders drooped looking at his crumpled body. âwho cares? come on mr d is waiting.â luke grabbed your hand and gently led you along, unaware of clarisse following along.
she nabbed a strawberry from your basket as you gasped, âcome on!â she didnât respond, rather grinning before eating it. âhowâs your day been?â you smiled at her niceness, âstuck with luke all day.â his eyebrows furrowed, âitâs never a bad day with me. donât lie.â
and after that you found yourself running into clarisse more often, training together, even if it was more so her beating the shit out of someone, and you watching. you ended up being around her so often that your body quite literally gravitated to her. whether at breakfast or in lessons, the two of you were always hanging out. so it wasnât a surprise to you when she asked you out, and you were more than happy to agree.
the only people that found it surprising, was every other person around.
obviously, during the early stages, youâd heard the whispers and seen the stares directed your way, but clarisse had shut them down pretty easily. a kid ended up puking into the same toilet bowl theyâd been dunked into, a tamer version being someoneâs matress torn apart, and a few not super serious injuries.
not life threatening.
but at the end of the day, all you could care about was her. her smile that was only really directed at you, the jewellery she obtained by suspicious circumstances, the sweet words and kisses were all you could ever ask for.
besides her, you also cared about him.
youâd felt as if the two of you had grown apart in the few months youâd been with clarisse, not necessarily either one of your choices, nor faults, but it was upsetting. even when you tried your hardest to seek him out around camp, it seemed he was always surrounded by people, teaching, leading, or just, not there.
youâd known him long enough to know he was evading.
luke hated it, how he felt. the idea of not being able to control himself, and how he acted was unbelievably annoying to him. not having you by his side, all the time, had him realising how often you were around him, heâd grown to rely on you. your presence, support, your face, friendship, gorgeous smile.
yeah, there were a lot of things he liked about you. he thought he only felt that way for you, but the weirdest combination of people seemed to double them. seeing you and clarisse around was common now, but the longing wasnât.
youâd talked about your strained relationship over a million times to clarisse, and quite frankly sheâd had enough, of course she didnât mind listening to you talk but it was honestly driving her crazy. which is how sheâd ended up with luke, in the middle of the night, sitting across from eachother, talking about you.
âsheâs my girlfriend.â
âshe was my bestfriend first.â
âso why didnât you make a move?â
âi didnât want to mess up our friendship. she⌠sheâs my best friend, i didnât want to drive her away.â clarisse leaned back on the bench, hands supporting her body, âso what now? you continue ignoring y/n, making her absolutely miserable since her bestfriend wonât even talk to her. or you tell her, and you guys arenât friends anymore.â luke scoffed, âwhat makes you think we wouldnât be friends anymore?â clarisse leaned forwards again, âwell she wouldnât have anything to say back to you, sheâs with me.â
âwell she wouldâve been with me if iâd confessed.â
âbut you didnât, whoâs fault is that luke? you were too scared to ask her out, and thatâs not on me. talk to her, let her know, and weâll see what happens.â clarisse rose from the table, but a thought in her head pulled her back. she turned back to see luke sitting at the table, even more gorgeous than usual, annoyingly so, the moonlight was a paid actress.
luke looked up and met clarisseâs eye, âwhat if.. what happens if she has feelings for both of us, now, at the same time?â she grinned, âyouâre not an ugly face luke, i wouldnât mind.â there were few times luke castellan didnât know what to say, but he sat staring, feeling warmth arise in his face.
maybe they could come to terms with this, work something out amongst all of you. he swore you liked him back, when you were friends and single, and even now that you werenât. the longing gazes you sent his way, the shy waves, as if on thin ice, testing the waters. why settle for one gorgeous girl, when you could have two?
after all, sharing is caring.

Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want
Words: 1k
Pairing: Clarisse La Rue x Fem!Demigod!Reader (Godly parent not specified)
Synopsis: Clarisse was fine with not getting anything she wanted until she laid her eyes on you.
Warnings: Pining, whipped!Clarisse, This is mostly in Clarisse's POV, handling of dangerous weapons (a dagger and a spear). [Let me know if I missed any.]
A/N: I apologize if the storyline is messy. I wanted this to be longer, but my attention span was not cooperating with me today. I had to take a lot of breaks while writing this because I could not sit still for more than five minutes.
masterlist || previous work
â
Clarisse remembers the first time she saw you.
You were in the forge, polishing some of the newly-made spears because you had nothing better to do. You were under the supervision of Luke since he was showing you around, but the boy had kept his distance, opting to just watch from the sidelines as you worked. Clarisse had walked into the forge, the chatter that was going on around you stopping. You discontinued what you were doing in order to look at her, wondering why your fellow campers were on-edge at her presence.
Your eyes met hers, taking her aback.
She hadnât seen you before.
Once Clarisse realized that she was staring, she promptly cleared her throat, scowling. âWhat are you looking at, newbie?â She asked, crossing her arms. Her plans on scaring you, however, failed when you smiled sheepishly.
You had been equally mesmerized by her, something that she failed to notice. âSorry, youâre just soââ
Clarisse held her breath, preparing herself for an accusation (that sheâs mean and terrifying â both of which are true, but words that sting nonetheless). Though, itâs not like sheâs going to think about it for the rest of â
ââPretty.â You conclude your sentence.
Oh.
Clarisseâs brows furrowed. She thought she would hear something insulting, but instead she was met with a compliment? Her eyes searched yours once again, looking for a trace of malice. She didnât find any, which made her confusion stir all the more. She scoffs, furious at herself for not being able to figure you out. âWhatever.â Clarisse walks away, turning her back on you so as to not show her weakness. She storms back to the Ares cabin, forgetting the reason why she went to the forge in the first place.
You frown as you look at the dagger in your hand, examining the initials engraved on the grip.
C.L.R.
---
The next time Clarisse saw you was when you were watching her train, your eyes following her every move. Clarisse pretended to ignore you until she found herself unable to focus. She put down her spear, turned to you and asked, âWould you like me to teach you?â before she could even stop the words from tumbling out of her mouth.
You nodded eagerly, âYes, please.â
You walked over and Clarisse pretty much had to use all her self-restraint to not just stand there and stare at you.
ââŚAlright, so you hold this andââ
---
It had been ages since that day.
Even though you and Clarisse have gotten closer, there was still a part of her that longs for more. See, ninety-nine percent of the time, her wishes donât come true. Or it does, for a little while, but then it gets ripped away from her grasp. She gets her hopes up and then it all comes crashing down â a cycle that never ends.
Clarisse has come to terms with the thought that she will never gets what she wants. She supposed that she was okay with that, but then you came along and everything changed. For every smile, every crinkle of your nose, every stupid joke that made you laugh, she finds herself wanting to wish that you would feel the same way she does.
âClary?â
She snaps out of her reverie and looks at you, âYes?â She felt embarrassed for not paying attention, smiling apologetically.
âI asked if you wanted toââ
âYes.â
You sit up in her bed, laughing. âI havenât even finished the sentence yet.â You grab her hand gingerly, locking your fingers together. âI was going to ask if you wanted to go with meââ
âYes.â
âClarisse,â You whine, âLet me continue first.â You pout, trying to let go of her hand, but Clarisse wouldnât let you.
Clarisse shakes her head, holding on to your hand firmly while her other brushes a strand of hair away from your face. âI donât care. Iâll go wherever you go.â She says genuinely. Being that close to you made Clarisseâs heart race, but she couldnât bring it in herself to look away because then youâll know that something was up.
You stare at her in disbelief, crossing your arms, âReally? Youâll go with me to show the new kid around camp?â
Her lips purse and you know youâve got her. Clarisse lets out a sigh of resignation. âNo.â She mumbles. As much as sheâd love to spend more time with you, she and you have very opposing ideas on how to welcome new campers.
âThought so.â You deadpan.
âWhy are you the one doing it, anyway?â
âBecause Iâm still in trouble for staying past curfew two days ago, pretty girl.â
Clarisse froze at the nickname. If her heart wasnât beating fast before, it surely was now. You chuckle, beginning to make your way out of the bed. âHey, no, where are you going?â Clarisse grabs your hand, another laugh escaping you.
âTo give that tour.â You roll your eyes, successfully prying your hands away from Clarisseâs grip. You ignore her sounds of protest as you make your way to the door.
Clarisse could feel her stomach drop, feeling the warmth slip away the further your distance becomes. The longer she stares at you with your back turned, the longer she thinks you would leave without saying goodbye. To her surprise (and not for the first time), you look back at her.
âIâll see you later at the bonfire.â You lean against the doorframe, your eyes narrowing. âDonât be late, alright?â
Clarisse rolls her eyes at the look you give her. She was only late one time and that was because she was debating with herself whether to give you flowers or not. She wanted to tell you the real reason why she was late, but decided it would be best to keep her mouth shut. âI wonât.â She says instead.
âGood.â You straighten your posture, putting one foot out the door while a hand rested on the doorframe, giving Clarisse a smile she knows you only reserved for her. Only when she smiles back do you actually take your leave.
Clarisse gets a sense of hope upon your departure.
Maybe it would be different this time.
She leans back against the bed frame, sending out the same prayer to every god she could think of.
Please, please, please let me get what I want.

clarisse being touchy clarisse la rue x reader (no godly parent specified) a/n: this randomly came to me while rewatching the second episode and i decided to write it. it's 11:30pm at the time of starting this, so idk how coherent this is gonna be, but it's gonna be cute, so strap in and enjoy the ride! taglist: @asvterias @lvrue @thewritingbarbie @kroumi @ravisinghs-wife
you were used to seeing a touchy clarisse. the two often found ways to be alone, to be just the two of you alone together. this was when clarisse got out all of her touchiness on you. whenever the two of you were in your little world, she never let go of you.
but the past few days had been busy. there had been lots of different types of incidents, and the two of you hadn't been able to get together just the two of you.
so when some of the other camp counsellors announced that they were holding a counselor-only bonfire, the two of you jumped at the opportunity.
at the beginning of the bonfire, clarisse was just holding your hand. you would occasionally lean your head on her shoulder, and she would lay her cheek on the top of your head. a few times, she pressed a kiss to your hair as well.
nobody really blinked at that, since those were things that the two of you already did. it was a bit of a shock at first, clarisse acting anything but hostile towards another person, but at this point, after the two of you dating for over a year, everyone was used to it.
as the night wore on, however, clarisse's restraint dissolved. she wanted so desperately to hold you, to grab onto you and never let you go.
she started following you around wherever you were, refusing to let go of your hands. when you told her that you needed your hands to get s'more stuff, she decided to just curl her arm around your waist, and refuse to let that go.
after a while, you wandered off while she was talking to someone from her cabin. she realized two seconds too late that you had extricated her hand from your waist, and she whirled around, freaking out.
she caught sight of you just a few seconds later, sitting in a camping chair roasting a marshmallow. her eyebrows knitted together as she walked up behind you.
she gently laid her hands on your shoulders, startling you slightly. you turned your head sharply, but smiled when you caught sight of her. "hi!" you said cheerily.
clarisse's mouth turned down into a sad frown as she gave you her puppy dog eyes.
"what?" you asked, turning around further in the chair to be more head on with her.
clarisse blew out a sad breath, and made eye contact with you as she asked, "why did you leave me?"
"oh my gods," you let out a laugh as you sagged against the camping chair. "you're so dramatic," you said.
clarisse scoffed. "i looked away for one second! one second, and you were gone! i thought a monster got you," she huffed.
"no you didn't!" you started cackling as you took hold of her hand that was rested on the top of the camping chair. you gave it a gentle kiss and looked up at clarisse through your lashes, giving her your own puppy dog eyes, the ones that were famous for getting clarisse to do literally anything you want. she wavers, but does her best to remain composed. "do you wanna come sit with me?"
and that was it.
clarisse immediately walked around the camping chair, and grabbed your hands to pull you up. she sat down in the chair, and then pulled you to sit in her lap.
this was something that clarisse loved, something the two of you did quite a lot. there was just something about having you, the most important person in her life, on her lap. she was able to wrap her arms around your waist and pull you closer to her. she was also able to lay her head on your shoulder, and she really loved that.
as soon as you were sat securely on her lap, she pulled the two of you closer, and laid her head on your shoulder, closing her eyes with a small smile on her face. she laid her hand in the crook of your elbow, gently stroking your arm as you roasted your marshmallow.
it was times like this that you and clarisse absolutely shocked everyone else at camp.
clarisse was a daughter of ares, and she really fit the bill. she was known for being ruthless in combat, absolutely terrifying with her magic spear. she hunted fearlessly in her neck of the woods during capture the flag, and it was so renowned that everybody avoided those woods as best they could during the games.
suffice to say, clarisse was known for being scary.
but she was different when she was with you. it was like you flicked a switch somewhere inside of her, made her different. you softened her edges, made her less scratchy. well, with you at least. she was still just as scratchy with everyone else, so to speak.
right at this very moment, luke, chris, and a few other counselors were looking at the two of you in complete awe and confusion.
"it's so weird to see her like that still," chris says, looking at the two in confusion.
luke nodded in agreement. "i agree," he watched as clarisse nuzzled against your neck, and sent you a beaming smile as you looked down at her with one of your own. she pecked your lips softly, and luke turned back to the group he was with. "it's crazy to see the switch. literally five minutes ago she was like, scolding me for taking too many chips,"
one of the other counselors laughed. "the other day, i accidentally put a sword back in the wrong spot, and she yelled at me for a solid five minutes. right as i was about to burst into tears, y/n walked in, and clarisse immediately melted,"
"she's so whipped," luke laughed, and the others laughed along with him.
clarisse knew she was whipped, she was very much so aware of that. but she was also, very much so okay with that.
she had never loved anyone as much as she loved y/n.

In A Good Way
Clarisse La Rue x Fem!AphroditeCabin!Reader
â-
sypnosis: basically episode two but if clarisse had a gf (so what should have been canon pretty much)
a/n: sorry dior is so fine i had to get the thoughts out this is kinda shitty also but anyways i hope you all enjoy!!
In A Good Way - Faye Webster
warnings: some violence, swearing, soft and ooc clarisse but only bc i wholeheartedly believe she is soft only for her gf and i love soft clarisse, also protective!clarisse my weakness, iâm insane, cringe, tell me if i missed anything!!
â-
You watch Clarisse bump into the poor boy.
Youâre sitting with your siblings, Tyla and Jackie, but your eyes were drawn to her even across the courtyard. Your eyes are always drawn to her.
She shoulders him hard, then immediately turns around and pushes him straight to the ground. Tyla gasps next to you as he crashes sharply into the dirt.
âYour girlfriend is a literal menace, Y/N,â Jackie scoffs.
âHow do you think I feel having to deal with her?â
You really do feel bad for the boy, Percy, you think. Regardless of whether or not he really killed the Minotaur (Clar spent the entire night talking your ear off about how it simply canât be true) itâs his first day at camp. Heâs helpless, to say the least.
Feeling less than your whole life and then finally coming to a place where everyone else is like you, finally getting answers- itâs a shock.
You always feel bad for every new camper. Especially the young and tiny ones like him. Besides, you like his cute blonde hair.
âOh, haha,â Jackie rolls her eyes. âYou love her.â
You start to get up, faking a dramatic sigh, âI do.â
Tyla giggles as you walk away and come into earshot.
âHey. Knock it off, Clarisse. Itâs like his first day, come on.â Luke seems as unimpressed as he always does, slightly apathetic, as another Hermes cabin member tugs Percy up.
âWait, so, this is the kid who killed the Minotaur. Is that right?â she takes a step forward, a misleading smile on her face.
âYeah,â Percy says, awkwardly looking around.
âIâll bet,â she smiles, her eyes lighting up in prospect of someone new to torture. âLook, you want attention around here, dummy? You better be ready for it when it comes.â
Her eyes meet yours.
âClarisse!â you say in a sing-song voice, walking up to her and placing your hand on her shoulder. âHeâs, like, twelve.â
âOh, but heâs strong enough to kill a Minotaur?â
Your eyes lock, her hand brushes your hip, and you get those same cliche butterflies in your stomach you always do when you look at her.
You smile.
You see her eyes soften.
She turns back to Percy after a moment, faking forward, and he flinches so hard he almost falls back.
Her and her Ares siblings laugh, you roll your eyes, and push her away. She walks away, her siblings in tow, and you turn back to Luke.
On Luke, Thalia, and Annabethâs last stretch to camp, they came across you. Your satyr protector had been killed by a monster protecting you, and Luke had held your hand and promised that all of you were going to make it to camp.
Youâll always have that bond with Luke, even though Clar hates his guts and his best swordsman in camp title.
You place your arm on his shoulder, he slings a loose arm around your waist.
Luke is pretty much the only person who can get away with touching you like this, or else theyâll receive a nice message from Clarisse in the form of a dagger barely missing their face.
âAres kids,â Luke explains to Percy. âThey come by it honestly. You got lucky today. If Y/N hadnât come around, you probably would have gotten knocked over again.â
âHi,â you say, sticking out your hand. âIâm Y/N.â Percy shakes your hand, smiling awkwardly.
âSheâs Clarisseâs girlfriend and the only thing that stands between the camp and total destruction.â
âOh,â Percy says, not quite able to hide his surprise and slight disgust. âShe seems⌠nice.â
âWell, if you look like me, sheâll love you. But⌠I donât think thatâll happen.â
Percy chuckles a bit.
âWhy donât they bother you?â he asks Luke.
âAh, they know better,â he says, squeezing you closer to him.
âYeah, Lukeâs the best swordsman in camp,â one of Lukeâs siblings says. You can see something in Percyâs eyes, a light that reminds you a bit of Clar.
âSo, they stay away from you because, glory? So, if I get glory, Clarisse wouldnât mess with me either?â
âExactly,â Luke affirms. You look at him out of the corner of your eye. What the Hades is he teaching him?
âAnd people think Iâm a big deal?â
âWell, sorta-â
âAnd my dadâs got no choice but to claim me.â
Oh. Your heart squeezes for him.
âYou⌠you canât force the Gods to do anything,â Luke says, trying not to hurt Percy too much.
âWell, yeah, but⌠it would make it a lot harder for him to pretend I donât exist, right?â
âMaybe,â Luke concedes.
âGreat. Where do we start?â
You laugh. âOoh, I like the way you think.â You slip away from Luke, smiling at Percy. âCome find me if you wanna try your hand at some Aphrodite skills.â
â-
You find Clarisse sitting outside her cabin at a picnic table, polishing her spear, her favorite activity.
You sit down next to her.
âHey, baby,â she murmurs, a bit too entranced with the gift from her father.
âI only have a few minutes before I go to archery, but⌠I think youâll enjoy this.â She looks over at you for a second, then right back to the spear. âDonât make me charmspeak you, La Rue.â
âOkay. Okay, sorry, what?â she sets the spear down in her lap, staring up at you with a smile as if she hadnât been ignoring you a second ago.
âPercy Jackson wants to find glory so youâll stop bothering him,â she snorts, âand so his father will have to claim him.â
She hums.
âWell, I like him. I think heâs cute.â
She shoots you a bored look.
âDonât say horrible things like that.â
You play with a curl hanging over her shoulder. âWe both know Iâll say whatever I want.â
âOh, I know.â
â-
âWhat happened to you?â
You turn to look at Clarisseâs smirking face.
âWhat?â
She rolls her eyes. âCâmere,â
You lean forward, across the space between the Aphrodite cabin and the Ares cabin tables. Clarisse puts her hand to your face, thumb tracing along your cheekbone. She pulls back, and you stare at her dirt covered thumb.
âYouâre covered in dirt, gorgeous.â
You hurriedly raise your hand up to your face, groaning when your palm does in fact come away covered in dirt.
âPercy is definitely not a child of Apollo,â you mutter.
âWhat dâyou mean?â Clarisse asks, handing you a few extra napkins as you begin to wipe off your face, a spot on your shirt you had noticed.
âLukeâs taking him around, trying to figure out what heâs got a talent for. It was funny, actually, he shot the arrow over all of us on the side and we all went crashing into the ground.â
She doesnât seem to find it as funny as you do.
âIt was an accident, Clar!â you say, all sing-song again.
âOh, Iâm sure it was. Exactly why I donât believe he killed that Minotaur.â
âAdrenaline makes even mortals do crazy things.â
âYou donât kill a Minotaur with adrenaline,â she hisses.
â-
Capture the Flag is held the next day. Clarisse and two of her siblings have been particularly pissed off all morning, and no matter how much you bug her, she only says âyouâll seeâ in this horribly nerve-wracking tone.
You have the same job you do every game. Sit in front of the flag, and charmspeak anyone who tries to come near it.
Youâre decent with a bow, okay with a sword, but this is one area where you really shine, where you can really help.
After the first game, the blue team has learned to wear ear plugs when they come near you. But youâre like a siren, you come around and take out their ear plugs anyways. Theyâre scared to touch you, because one of the Ares kids will run right off to Clarisse, and she tells you all the time that sheâd rather lose dessert privileges for a month then see you with one scratch.
Chiron stands imposingly on the large rock at the start of the small river that divides the two halves of the woods.
âThe first team to retrieve the opposing flag and return it across the river shall be the victor.â
You know these rules by heart.
Ever since your first Game, the day you met Clarisse, youâve loved them. Youâre not the most violent person, nothing near Clar and her insatiable thirst for competition, but thereâs just something about the game.
She walks forward through the sea of red-marked armor, digging her spear into the ground and glaring at what you can only assume to be Percy Jackson.
âAny magical items you may possess are permitted as well. Every camper who is not injured has to play. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound or gagged.â
You suppress a laugh at that rule. That one was only implemented a few games ago, right after the one where you had been taken prisoner and tied with vines to a tree. When Clar had heard, she actually almost murdered a few kids and maimed some more.
Although it made keeping prisoners a little awkward, Chiron had proclaimed it was in everyoneâs best interests.
âLet the games begin!â he shouts, the conch blows, and the entire team screams in a terrifying war cry.
The blue team bangs their shields and weapons together, and now you have 20 minutes before game on.
Clarisse is the captain of your team, of course. She marches around barking orders to everyone, as if their positions arenât already drilled into their heads.
âHey Clar,â you say. Youâre surrounded by a few Ares kids, a few other good fighters, ready to protect the flag and by extension you- with their lives.
Capture the flag games are taken seriously.
She looks at the red flag in your hands, smiling in that smug way she always does. She doesnât smile this way when itâs just you and her, but you can still see the softness in her eyes even now. With Clarisse, her emotions are all about the eyes.
âYou all know what youâre doing?â she asks. All the kids behind you nod. âGood,â she smirks, starting to walk away.
âAre you hunting in your usual woods today?â you ask, heading in the same direction as her.
She smiles, a full toothy grin.
âOh, baby, I have something even better planned.â
Clarisse is not one to change the strategy.
You canât get it out of your head what sheâs been saying about Percy.
âIf you kill someone, Iâm killing you.â
She just smiles.
â-
One of the kids holds the flag from up on a rock, acting like a lookout. You lean against that rock, your armor digging into your thighs at the awkward angle, waiting for someone to come. Everyone else surrounds you in the flag, in battle stances.
The conch blew about 20 minutes ago, and you should be seeing someone soon.
âI think Lukeâs coming,â Corey, the Apollo kid lookout says.
âOf course he is,â you mutter. Heâs always in charge of getting the flag, because heâs not afraid to touch you. Clarisse knows heâs just your friend, or else he probably would have been dead by now. They emerge from the woods, not bothering to try for stealth, all in defensive positions.
Everyone lets you take the lead. You understand why Clarisse loves power. Itâs addicting, itâs like lightening in your veins.
âHi, Luke,â you smile.
He canât hear you, but he returns the smile.
âYouâre all going to turn around and walk 300 feet in the other direction.â
Luke sighs as one of the kids actually turns and walks away, heeding your command. Everyone else has their earplugs in tight, but it always gets one or two of them.
You roll your eyes. âYou always make this so difficult, Luke.â
You walk towards him, maybe you can surprise him and rip the ear plugs out of your ear, but he suddenly springs his leg out so you trip, slamming into the ground and getting a face full of dirt.
âBitch,â you mumble, ready to get up. Suddenly, a Hermes girl throws herself on top of you, slapping a hand over your mouth.
As soon as you hit the ground, the fight erupts around you.
âYou canât do this, Luke, itâs against the rules!â you screech, but itâs muffled through the girls thick leather gloves.
Matty, one of Clarâs siblings sighs heavily. âFuckinâ hate this dude,â he mumbles. âMarjorie, go get Clarisse.â
The girl runs off, and Matty adjusts his helmet.
âDonât know why you do this to yourself, man.â
Luke kneels down in front of you while you scream obscenities next to his name. He makes a big show of taking out his earplugs before ruffling your hair.
âThanks, Y/N.â
He whips around and his sword immediately clashes with Mattyâs, and theyâre locked in a flurry of metal clashing and glinting in the sunlight. Matty is really good, probably bested only by Clarisse, but Luke is still the best swordsman in camp.
He puts up a valiant fight, but Luke disarms him.
Your back is really, really starting to hurt like this.
Itâs whirlwind, but there were more blue team then red team, and sometimes sheer number beats out even the best of the Ares cabin.
They grab the flag and run for the beach.
The girl waits for another moment until one of the Ares kids points his sword at her.
âYouâre really gonna want to let her go,â Matty says. She stands up and books it, following her team.
âEat dirt!â you scream as she runs away, but she still has her earplugs in.
Matty helps you up.
âClarisseâs gonna kill us all.â
âI hate Luke Castellan. I hate him, I hate him, I wish him nothing but pain and suffering.â
Matty claps your shoulder.
âHey, at least we all get to watch Clarisse beat up the Hermes cabin at sword practice tomorrow.â
And you do like seeing Clar fight, the way sheâs so focused and truly in her element, sweat making her skin glisten in the sunlightâŚ
âThat will be fun,â you concede. Matty laughs, and you all make your way down to the beach.
â-
The scream scares you.
All the kids around you jump up with their swords, thinking a monster had somehow made its way near camp, but you recognize that voice.
âClarisse,â you mumble, feeling frozen.
âWhat?â Matty asks, his eyes scanning the forest. âWhatâd you say?â
âClarisse,â you repeat, breaking off into a run towards the sound of it, towards the beach.
âClar- wait, Y/N!â
But youâre already long gone.
â-
You make it to the beach a minute after the conch sounded, the blue team having won, making it just in time to see the blue trident appear over Percyâs head. You can barely even register the fact that heâs a forbidden child, your eyes immediately finding Clarâs siblings, the ones she was supposed to be hunting with today.
âHey, hey,â you breathe out, almost slamming into one of them. âW-whereâs Clarisse? I heard her scream-â
You love her so much itâs like your heart will break if you even think about her being hurt. It always seems like Clar is the one who loves you more, only because of her proud and overprotective nature, but really you love her just as much.
You just never have the opportunity to threaten to kill someone like she does for you. She does that all on her own.
âOh, uh, she went that way,â he points in the direction of a barely there path, heading into the woods and back to camp.
âGreat, thanks!â you shout, already running after her.
You catch up with her after a minute, your gaze landing on her practically stomping through the woods. Sheâs angry. Sheâs angry, why?
âClar!â you shout, and she whips around, standing still while you sprint over to her. âClarisse, Clarisse, are you hurt? I-I heard you scream-â
You run your hands up and down her arms, and after a tense second of her staring at the ground, she puts her hands on your hips.
âIâm not hurt, Iâm fine.â
She looks like sheâs about to cry. But you know she wonât ever let herself cry, wonât ever let herself be perceived as weak.
You wrap your arms and let her put her face in your neck. Sheâs almost shaking with how angry she is, her fingers digging into your hips, and she stops herself and lets go before she can hurt you.
âOh, baby,â you murmur. Youâre not sure what happened. But she screamed like that, not like she was scared, but like she had just lost something. âDo you want to talk about it?â
âNo.â She says into your neck, simple, and you respect it.
âOkay, well, letâs go back to your cabin. Youâre not gonna believe the day I had. Will it make you happy to know I give you permission to beat up Luke?â
She looks up at you with skeptical eyes. You both ignore the tears staining her cheeks. âReally?â she asks, slightly hopeful, even through all her anger and sadness.
âCome on,â you smile, letting go of her and sliding you hand into hers. She meets your pace and wraps her arm around your waist. She doesnât tell you she loves you, but you know.
â-
You flop down onto Clarâs bed. As the head counselor, she gets the best bunk. On the second floor loft, where thereâs only enough space for single beds, meaning she doesnât have to deal with bunk beds, all the way in the corner for a little privacy.
She stands in front of you, slipping off her shoes, and your reach forward to work at the knots of her breastplate.
She stares at you until the armor is lose around her, and she lifts it up over her head and leaves it haphazardly on the ground.
You lay flat, stretching your aching back, and Clar leans over you to help you take off your armor. You probably donât even need armor, but Clarisse is overprotective by nature, by blood. It makes her feel better, and it really doesnât bother you much. She lifts it over your head, letting the metal crash into the floor before laying down next to you.
âSorry,â you mumble. âIâm supposed to be here for you but Iâm so tired, and my back hurts so badâŚâ
She laughs. You smile, and it falls into comfortable silence.
âCan I really beat up Luke?â she says after a second.
You open your eyes and sheâs laying on her side, propped up her arm and staring at you.
âOh, you can.â
âWhy?â she asks, still not quite believing you.
âOkay, so, Luke comes over, right. And you know, I try to charmspeak them but only one of them goes. I walk over to Luke and he fucking trips me! It was so embarrassing, baby, I literally ate shit.â
She smiles and puts her arm around your waist, tugging you closer to her.
âThen, some girl tackles me before I can get up, and puts her hand over my mouth so I canât do anything. Which first of all, is completely against the rules, and second of all, it really hurt my back! Then, then, Luke has the audacity to say âOh, thanks Y/N!â and ruffles my hair, like? I swear to Gods, I just want him to⌠well, I donât know. Suffer.â
âDonât worry, gorgeous,â she mutters into the top of your head. âIâll make sure heâs unrecognizable.â
You smile. âI donât know what I would do without you, Clarisse. Who would defend my honor and fight my battles?â
She seems sort of placid, tired, like sheâs just a still lake reacting to your body wading in deeper. Itâs almost like sheâs gonna fall asleep, and sheâs always tired after capture the flag, so itâs not unusual.
âIâd be there,â she mutters, her eyes closed.
Youâre both silent for a few more minutes, just the two of you together, her strong arm around you, the way itâs always meant to be.
âHeâs a son of Poseidon. Did you see?â
âYes,â you whisper. âI saw.â
âItâs not fair,â she says, like the child she never got to be. âI spend so much time, so much time trying to make him proud- it took months for him to claim me and he gets claimed on, what, his third day?â
Her head lands on your chest, your hands smoothing down her hair.
She touches the necklace she gave you months ago, bringing it out from under your shirt, the simple chain with the pretty charm that looks like a spear. More so an arrow, but itâs supposed to be her spear.
âHe broke it,â she whispers.
âBroke what?â
She sits up a little higher, her hands reaching behind you and undoing the clasp on your necklace. You havenât even taken it off since she put it on you, so of course she would be the one to take it off.
âHe broke my spear.â
âOh, ClarisseâŚâ she stares at the necklace before folding it up tightly in her palm. She breathes out as she lays back down on your chest, her legs entwining with yours, your hand back in her curls.
âThe Hephaestus kids can fix it, but it wonât be electrical anymore.â
You donât say anything. Most people would say âitâs better than nothingâ but youâre demigods with absent divine parents.
Clarisse didnât tell you it was better than nothing to at least be claimed by Aphrodite when one of your siblings got a magic item from her. She didnât try and tell you âmaybe somedayâ when you cried in her arms.
Because more often then not, youâll die before your godly parent even claims you. More kids die on their way to Camp Half-Blood then Chiron would like to admit.
And what would the Gods do? Nothing. They would do nothing about it, because they donât care.
Clarisse doesnât cry, but you know she wants to, and you let her know that she can cry if she wants to. She can, if she has to. Youâd never turn her away.
If she hasnât realized already, youâre in this for the long run.
â-
Clarisse fell asleep in your arms, then pulled you back when you tried to go back to your own cabin, and you figured Chiron wouldnât mind this once.
She finally let you go after you screamed that she couldnât kiss you before you brushed your teeth, mumbling about how youâre depriving her.
When you meet up with her again, she has her sword in hand and her armor strapped tight to her body.
It was just a great big coincidence that the Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares and Demeter cabins all had sword practice at the same times. Clarisse looked all too happy at being able to get out some anger from yesterday, because sparring is the only way Clar has to work out the intense feelings she inherited from her father.
âSo, who should I metaphorically kill?â
âOoh, big word,â you tease. She grabs your chin, making you look at her, but sheâs smiling too much for it to be a threat.
âCâmon, baby, who?â
âLuke. AndâŚâ you point, âThatâs the girl who tackled me. Oh, and thatâs the boy who fought Corey and got the flag. I donât know his name.â
ââCause heâs irrelevant,â she says. You hum. âYou just wait right here, gorgeous, enjoy the show.â She winks before sauntering off in the girls direction, smiling in that misleading way, asking her if she wants to spar.
You beckon Jackie and Tyla over to you, who both seem unimpressed.
âPlease donât tell me you put Clarisse up to attacking the Hermes cabin,â Tyla sighs.
âI didnât put her up to anything. She did it all on her own.â
âOh, sure she did,â Jackie rolls her eyes.
âDonât act like you all arenât gonna enjoy it.â
Tyla meets your eyes, then Jackieâs.
âSorry, Jacks, itâs, like, really entertaining!â
You all laugh as Clar leads the girl into the circle, laughing even harder when she disarms her after a minute. The boy who took the flag barely lasts 45 seconds.
When Luke walks up to her, she throws her sword down and tackles him. You give her a minute before you pull her off.
â-
clarisse, about to beat up percy
y/n: oh no no no no you donât
clarisse: ok i wonât kill him rn đđđđ
â-
y/n: yeah like idk what i would do without you who would protect me and fight my battles
clarisse âi would be thereâ la rue: bitch our love transcends the laws of physics I WOULD BE THERE
â-
y/n giggling and kicking her feet watching clarisse beat up luke

Sleepy
(idk how to name fics that arenât based off a song)
Clarisse la rue x Aphrodite!fem!reader
Reader sneaks into clarisses bed after a nightmare, forgetting that she was wearing short shorts and a tiny bra top, but people definitely remember when she walks back to the Aphrodite cabin wearing clarisses large shirt and what looks like nothing underneathâŚ
Warnings:
Established relationship, implied new relationship, implied friendship to lovers, boys (gross ew) sexualising reader a bit, bad writing sorry, half of these are not warnings
lol sorry đ , fluff, poor dialogue because Iâm still trying to work out how to properly write dialogue lol.
You couldnât really remember what happened.
One minute you were gasping out in your cabin, hearing one of your sister grumble at you to be quiet, sitting up with wet cheeks and blurry eyes.
And the next minute you had grabbed your teddy bear and started making your way towards the ares cabin.
And of course you didnât take notice of what you chose to wear to bed that day, you were half asleep and terrified from the nightmare youâd just had, the dark forest surrounding you not helping at all.
âClaireâŚâ you whispered to the girl, shaking her a little, âcan I sleep with youâ
You knew you hadnât woken anybody up in the ares cabin, seeing as they would be a lot more verbal about their annoyance being woken up than most of your own siblings would be.
However you also hadnât been successful in waking your girlfriend up either, shaking her a little more before giving up.
You figured she wouldnât mind you just getting to bed, you had slept in her cabin a handful of times before, and you knew she had a long day of practice planned for the next day in preparation for an upcoming quest, so she could deal with not being woken.
You had normally snuck out of the ares cabin before anyone could notice you the previous times you had stayed, though you hardly thought it mattered right now, no one would dare snitch on Clarisse so as long as Chiron didnât see you you would be fine.
You crawled into the bed and snuck under clarisses arm, her grip tightening around you snuggly, and it didnât take long to fall asleep in that state.
By the time you woke up. You could hear giggling surrounding you.
You didnât take much notice, your sisters were often scheming in the early hours of the morning and you had always been a light sleeper, so it wasnât really their fault it woke you.
It wasnât till you heard a snapping noise and through your eyelids saw the faint light of a flash going off that you became more aware, your brain waking up and remembering what had happened the night before.
Obviously Clarisse hadnât woken yet. Like it was proven last night, unlike you, she was a very deep sleeper, and you could still feel her arm around you and you begun to slowly get up in confusion.
âShit, quickâ you heard one of the kids stood by the bed infront of you say before taking another picture, the light momentarily blinding you.
The two ran off quickly, hiding the camera somewhere as you became aware that most of clarisses other siblings were watching you both also, laughing or trying not to.
It wasnât exactly a normal sight to see Clarisse cuddled up in bed, arms wrapped around her girlfriend and teddy bear laying next to them.
Quickly, turning red, you jumped to get up, still not clocking what you were wearing.
Clarisses elder brother, emmet, certainly had however, staring at your boobs as you sat up quickly in bed and laughing along with his brother, and smacking their arm to get him to pay attention.
âHey y/n, you donât have to leave just yetâ Ben, the other said as you searched around the bed for your phone. (Ik that technically their phones didnât work in all ways but in my head I imagine them still having them at camp for photos and stuff)
âYeah, we donât need Clarisse to have a good timeâ emmett laughed as they approached you, his eyes resting on your ass as you bent over slightly, searching the bed.
âYou could stay around tonight as well if you wantâŚMy bunks always freeâ he said, both of them laughing as though it was the funniest things heâd ever heard.
âLeave her aloneâ one of the girls said from her bed, adding, âClarisse will kill you if she finds out anywayâ
You turned around to face the two and stumbled back into the bed a little when you noticed them both closer to your body.
âFinds out what?â Clarisse asked in a groggy voice, looking up at her girlfriendâs back from her spot in bed in confusion, not knowing why you were there.
âNothing clarry itâs fineâ you said softly, turning your head round to her and smiling at her nervously, not wanting to cause any issues so early in the morning.
Clarisses younger sister kitty however had no problems causing an argument between the girl and their gross brothers, opting to kill two birds with one stone by telling on them to Clarisse.
âOh nothingâ kitty stated sarcastically, causing Clarisse to turn to her and glare.
âKittyâ she warned, demanding her to explain whatâs going on to her in one word.
âThey were just being rude to y/n is allâ she stated with a smirk, jumping off of her bunk that she had been sat on and walking towards the bathroom as if she didnât say anything, wanting to tell the girls in there about what was about to happen.
You didnât know if you were glad she was somewhat standing up for you or annoyed that she was trying to start a fight this early in the morning, something bound to ruin clarisses, and in turn, everyone elseâs, mood for the rest of the day.
And as you watched kitty return from the other room with 3 others following her, trying to act inconspicuous, you decided you wanted to kill her. Very
âNo itâs fine Clarisse I promiseâ you attempted to reassure your girlfriend.
âYeah clarisse, itâs fineâ Benjamin added in a mocking voice, sitting on his bed as if he had no cares in the world.
Clarisse started to stand from her bed at that, grabbing your hips from behind, pulling you along with her, âCome here babyâ
She guided you across the room, not really giving you a chance to turn until you had both reached your destination.
She bent down to search through the bottom drawer of the cabinet she had lead you to, rummaging through the shirts and tops.
You were weirded out by her sudden dismissal of her brothers, especially given their taunts, but you were glad nonetheless.
You turned back to look at them and caught them both still watching you, Ben still sat on the bed while emmet lent on a cabinet near it, smirking at you.
Eventually Clarisse pulled out an orange camp half blood tshirt, handing it up to you, grabbing your attention again before closing the drawer.
You looked at her in confusion, why was she handing you her, far too big for you, tshirt? Clarisse not yet acknowledging you as she walked back over to the two boys, watching you both from bens bed.
âYou two are gonna apologise to my girlfriend right now and the only punishment youâre gonna get is laundry duty for two weeksâŚâ Clarisse told the two in a scarily calm voice, âor, if not, we can go to training and I can beat your asses for thinking itâs ok to disrespect my girlfriend like thatâ
The two boys looked less amused now, Ben scowling and emmet rolling his eyes like a child about to throw a tantrum.
âAndâŚyou can beg 3 weeks of laundry dutyâ Clarisse added with a smirk, staring them down until they backed down.
âOk whateverâ Ben muttered, giving up first, âsorry y/nâ
âI-itâs okâ you replied from the cabinet, clutching onto clarisses shirt.
âNo y/n, itâs not okâ Clarisse said sternly, turning to her other half-brother with an expectant look in her eye, âemmet?â
After a slight pause with no response Clarisse stepped forwards raising her eyebrows at her brother, both of you watching his scowl deepen before giving in.
âSorryâ he stated, rolling his eyes.
âNah thatâs not good enoughâŚâ Clarisse told him with a grin, âtry againâ
âClarisse itâs fine reallyâ you told her, watching her just shake her head in response.
âFine, Iâm sorry y/nâŚgood enough?â He said in annoyance.
âPerfectâ Clarisse said stepping back and walking towards you, not turning around to tell them, âmight wanna get those clothes to the laundry roomâŚthe hampers are looking pretty fullâ
âYou didnât need to do thatâ you told her with a pout, still holding onto the shirt she had handed you.
âYou ok baby?â She asked.
âYeah Iâm fine, I said thatâ you reassured, gesturing to her shirt, assuming it was for her to wear, âdo you want your shirt back?â
âBaby have you seen what youâre wearing?â Clarisse laughed, âI mean I donât mind at all but I canât imagine youâre gonna have fun running back to your cabin in a bra top, tiny shorts and no shoesâ
With that she handed you some slippers off of the floor by her bed.
At that you finally realised why she wanted you to wear the top, looking down at your body, as your cheeks began to turn red you shyly looked back up at Clarisse and smiled at her with a giggle.
âThank youâ you told her, throwing the shirt over yourself and slipping the shoes on your feet.
âNow I hate to kick you out baby but I think if you stay any longer Chiron will see youâ Clarisse told you, her hands reaching your waist.
âYeah youâre probably rightâ you stated, not making any moves to walk away yet.
Clarisse leaned down to kiss you, her grip on your waist tightening slightly as she did.
You both continued to kiss for a moment before you heard laughs behind Clarisse, opening your eyes to see kitty and 3 other girls sat on a bed watching you.
Clarisse glares at the girls and you laugh at her. âOk I should go thenâ
âIâll see you laterâ Clarisse told you, knowing sheâd come find you at lunch if she didnât see you before then.
âOkâ you replied simply, picking up your teddy from the bed and walking towards the door of the cabin.
You noticed the stares on you as you rushed back to your own cabin, the children already up watching you depart from the Ares cabin wearing barely any clothes holding a teddy bear.
You were as quick as you could be, hoping not to get caught by Chiron and get back before he started making his rounds of the camp.
You heard a whistle from your right, an older boy watching you rush past him, you scowling in reply and raising a middle finger to him and you walked past.
You were just glad Clarisse wasnât with you to start a fight with him for it.
Havenât proof read this yet lol đ

clarisse la rue x reader â percy jackson and the olympians
[fem!daughter of apollo reader]
[part 2 to the trees]
summary: clarisse is being weirdly standoffish, and youâre not one to cave to that, no matter how much you like her. and no matter how things go, you still have to get your weapons from the forest.
warnings: swearing, arguing, fighting, monsters, PINING BUT THEYRE IDIOTS, everyoneâs so mad at each other rn, kissing (AHHHH), canon typical violence, again probably slightly ooc clarisse but hey i love her anyway
word count: 3.2k
(uhhh so this is probably not what anyone was expecting for part two but this is how i alway a planned it, so here it is!! tag list in reblogs and also thank you for the love on the trees! i love you all so much <3 and iâd die for you just like clarisse and this dumb bitch here would die for each other)
(this is much more enemies to lovers than the first one btw so have fun)
âââââââââââââââ
the day after capture the flag was always a little tense. of course it was. half the camp had just lost, and not many people at camp were good losers, especially not those who got their butts kicked.
this time, though, there was a new level of tension in the air.
ares kids didnât often run the flag over the line themselves, and those who did were crowing about it at breakfast, then all morning too.
curiously, clarisse wasnât. she was eating in silence, picking through her eggs like she was searching for something.
youâd never seen her like that before. no one had. but, it seemed you were the only person to notice. you always were, and you were okay with that.
your brother nudged your arm and shot you a questioning look, but you brushed him off with a smile.
why was clarisse so down? sheâd won. what did she have to be upset about? was she mad at you? did you do something to piss her off in the tree? she hadnât seemed exactly happy when she left.
stuck in your thoughts, you didnât realise sheâd met your eyes until your brother elbowed you.
âow! what do you want?â you snapped, rubbing your rib cage tenderly.
âclarisse is staring at you,â he said with wide eyes. âdude⌠what did you do?â
ânothing,â you scoffed and stood up, taking your empty plate to the stack of dirty dishes, tryingâand failingâto not look at clarisse as you left.
ây/n, wait up!â
you slowed down for sam as he jogged to catch up to you. there was a newfound bitterness in your mouth when you saw him. youâd never liked him, not like heâd liked you, but youâd never felt like you wanted to be away from him. not like you did in that moment then. but where would you go? to clarisse? yeah, right, sheâd laugh in your face, regardless of whatever happenedâor might have happenedâin that tree.
âwhatâs up?â you asked. you couldnât help your voice being drier than usual.
âjust wanted to see how those arrows did you? were they good? i can make some more, if you want.â he looked almost eager to do so.
you smiled kindly. he really was sweet. âthey were great, thanks, sam. best arrows iâve ever used, even if i didnât get too much of a chance to use them.â your steps faltered. âi did leave one in the forest though. iâll have to get that later.â
your eyes locked on clarisse as she walked towards you down the path. two of her siblings were behind her, laughing, but she wasnât. in fact, her jaw was set tight and she was glaring. at sam.
âi could come with you?â he suggested. âwatch your back. keep you safe, you know?â
clarisse scoffed as she passed. âshe doesnât need you to keep her safe, tool-box.â
that was a little mean. sure, sam carried his tool-box everywhere, but you never know what might need to be fixed! despite yourself, you had to hold in a laugh. your eyes were alight with amusement as you locked gaze with clarisse.
she looked proud of herself, a jaunty grin on her lips. you couldnât help your gaze dropping to them briefly. she smiled wider. it was infuriating. she now knew what her effect on you was, and she was using it.
âif she needed someone to protect her, sheâd come to me, right, angel?â she tilted her head.
your mouth was infuriatingly dry. you nodded. âuhââ
âwhatever,â sam snapped. âcome on, y/n. letâs go.â
you kind of wanted to stay, but his grip on your arm didnât leave any room for an argument. you trailed after him as he left, glancing over your shoulder just in time to see clarisseâs face darken with anger.
âangel?â sam scoffed. âwho does she think she is?â
âuhâŚâ
âwhatever. gods, sheâs just soââ he turned and faced you, almost causing you to bump into his chest. youâd never seen him so intense before. âstay away from her, y/n. seriously. sheâs bad news.â
âsheâs nice to me,â you protested.
âsheâs not nice to anyone. donât be naive.â he turned on his heel and started to walk away, then turned back, his face softer. âcome on. do you want to learn how to weld? you said you did last week.â
did you? you didnât remember that. but you did vaguely remember a conversation with sam that you spent zoned out and staring at clarisse as she trained, so that was probably it. âoh, no⌠i have to⌠trainâŚâ
he looked disappointed, but nodded. âokay, thatâs cool. maybe another day. or maybe, we can⌠go for a walk together? or even have lunch on the beach?â
you nodded absently. âmaybe.â
âgreat, itâs a date!â
you frowned. âitâs a what?â
he looked happier than youâd ever seen him. he even kissed your cheek before walking off, a new spring in his step. you stood there for a moment, eyes wide, wondering what the hell just happened. then you heard a scoff from behind you.
when you turned around, clarisse was walking away.
âclarisse,â you said softly, jogging after her. âclarisse, wait!â
âgo hang out with your boyfriend, l/n.â she snapped, her arms crossed as she walked. âheâs probably waiting for you so you two can make out in that sweaty little sex dungeon they call a workshop.â
your eyebrows shot up. âokay, first of all, iâm pretty sure it is actually a workshop, and second of all, heâs still not my boyfriend!â
she scoffed again but didnât answer, stomping up the steps to the ares cabin and stopping at the top, looking down at you.
you felt small under her gaze, but you didnât back down.
âwhat are you doing here?â she asked after a moment.
âyou said i could come get a new dagger,âyou said.
she rolled her eyes and leaned on the porch railing. âand?â
you frowned, looking up at her. âand⌠iâm here to get one?â
she regarded you for a few seconds in silence, then, just as she was about to speak, a new voice called out.
âclarisse, are you giving out girlfriend privileges already?â one of her brothers, marcus, you thought, stepped into the doorway of the cabin and peered around her to look at you. he looked like a stereotypical son of ares: buff, tall and mean. âthatâs cute.â he continued, looking at you like you were an animal in a zoo.
âsheâs not my girlfriend,â she scoffed like it was the most ridiculous thing in the world.
well, that hurt.
âyeah, weâre justââ
âweâre not even friends,â she added hurriedly, not even looking at you. âshe just thinks sheâs special.â
your jaw clenched. that really hurt. âi donât think iâm special,â you snapped. âi think i want you to honour your word from yesterday or go and get my dagger out of the forest for me.â
ânot my fault you forgot your dagger,â she studied her nails nonchalantly.
âbut if you hadnât thrown my dagger out of a tree and tossed my new arrow aside like it was trash then i wouldnât have forgotten. and maybe if you hadnât leaned in like you were about to kiss me, maybe i wouldnât have forgotten either.â your gaze was as sharp as hers was, meeting in the middle with fire and lightning crackling between you.
she stepped forward, face to face with you. for a second, you thought sheâd punch you, but you didnât back down.
then she laughed. it wasnât at all like her laugh in the tree the day before. this was her cold, cruel laugh that she usually saved for her victims. with a start, you realised thatâs what you were: another victim of clarisse la rue. your heart broke for a split second before you pulled yourself together and straightened your back, meeting her eyes.
âkiss you?â she snickered. âget your head out of your ass, angel, youâre not all that because you can shoot a bow and climb a tree.â
you stepped closer to her, so you were right up in her face. âand youâre not all that because you scare away everyone who cares about you, just because your daddyâs a little mean. you donât need to be a bitch about everything.â
you regretted it instantly. youâd gone too far. you knew that.
her face dropped and a hurt look flashed through her eyes, but it died as soon as it came to life.
you stepped back and turned, marching away.
âwhere are you going?â she called after you. âweâre not finished here!â
âyou have something else to say to me, clarisse, you come find me!â you shot back, your voice hard. you didnât start arguments often, but goddamn did you finish them.
you stomped into the forest, determined to find your dagger and arrow so you could prove to both clarisse and sam that you were capable of more than just shooting arrows from trees and running away from fights.
it was darker today. the clouds that covered camp half-blood permeated through the forest, leaving a heavy weight suspended among the trees. the air felt thicker, even, and the birdsong seemed quieter than usual. was there something around? something hanging in the air, waiting to attack you? drag your body back to camp and leave it on clarisseâs doorstep like a cat bringing in a dead bird?
or was your fear just because you were alone instead of with the rest of camp.
whatever it was, it put you on edge.
there was a clicking sound behind you, like someone was cracking a joint, but when you turned, no one was there. you werenât foolish enough to call out.
you could feel a chill going down your spine, and thatâs when you knew: the first shoe had dropped.
your eyelids fluttered and you nearly dropped to the ground, but you leaned heavily against a tree to catch yourself. typical. go out on your own, thinking you can take care of yourself and you get hit with a premonition. howâs that for fate?
you let the feeling wash over you; the pure panic of the near future and the warm grip of a hand on your wrist, like someone was pulling you along.
the future was not looking promising.
there was another clicking sound behind you as you finally managed to straighten up, much closer this time.
you turned around.
the bushes were rustling.
you suddenly realised what that clicking sound was.
mandibles.
two ants the size of german shepherds burst through the foliage. myrmeke.
there was the other shoe, dropping real hard.
âshit!â you stumbled backward, reaching for a weapon. you had no weapon. âdouble shit!â
you turned and ran.
the ants were fucking fast. they could have caught up to you if you werenât so agile, turning and springing off in different directions every few steps, sending them careening into trees and rocks. that was the only thing keeping you alive.
where even were you? you didnât recognise this area. hopefully you werenât running directly for their anthill. that would be a real twist of fate.
then you burst into a new area, this one with a large treeâa large tree that you recognised.
âyes!â you exclaimed, dashing for the trunk. you found your dagger easily, then your discarded arrow too. you didnât know what good theyâd do against the myrmeke, considering that their shells were as hard as armour and, while force was good in some cases, you had to admit that sharpness may have helped you against them.
you couldnât run anymore. your screaming lungs told you that. you couldnât climb either. the ants could climb better than you and youâd be a sitting duck up there, no matter how high you went. but maybe, just maybe, you could hold them off until they got bored or someone realised you were missing.
it wasnât easy, but you managed to deflect and dodge the myrmekeâs attacks. they were fast, but you were faster. you even managed a swipe at one of their legs as you rolled past, but all it did was leave a tiny chink in its armour.
you were beginning to lose hope.
honestly, what you wouldnât give for a spear right now. your blunt dagger and slim arrow were about as good as a toothpick against these monsters.
just as you were backed against the tree that youâd once found a safe haven, you heard a battle cry. you could have sobbed from relief, but instead, as the spear-wielding figure landed on top of one of the ants, driving her weapon into the gap between its armoured plates, you took your opportunity to stab your arrow with as much force as you could into the other antâs gaping mouth, slipping it precisely between its mandibles and, hopefully, into its brain.
it jerked back in pain and screeched, the sound making your ears ring, but it didnât die. instead, it looked rightfully pissed off, and now it had an arrow sticking from its mouth.
as your saviour pulled her spear from the ants back, a warm, brown liquid sprayed on you. it smelled like ants always did after you crushed them, just a million times worse. you wondered if this was revenge for all the ants youâd murdered in your life.
âgross!â you exclaimed, wiping it off your face.
âgrow up, bows, we gotta go!â clarisse. your saviour was clarisse. of course.
just as you were about to protest, two more myrmeke crept out of the forest towards you.
she gripped your wrist, right where that warmth was in your premonition, and dragged you away, making you drop your dagger in the rush.
âi dropped myââ
âsave it!â she snapped, pulling you along.
the desperation in her voice kicked you into gear and you started running faster, alongside her now.
you didnât use the same tactics as before. instead of dodging, you just ran as fast as you could and prayed that the myrmeke would be slower. clarisse seemed to know where she was going, at least.
âyouâre such an idiot!â clarisse yelled as they ran.
âweâre doing this now?â you panted incredulously.
âyou could have died!â
âweâll both die if you donât stop yelling at me!â
finally, gloriously, you breached the edge of the forest and stepped into camp. the myrmeke wouldnât follow you there.
you dropped to you knees, panting and staring into the forest. clarisse was standing in front of you, her spear ready, just in case.
youâd stepped into a quiet part of camp up behind the amphitheatre, so there was no one around to see you, and no one around to help you. you had a feeling that if the myrmeke didnât kill you, clarisse wouldnât hesitate.
once it was clear that they werenât following, she rounded on you.
you were still on your knees, your legs too tired and shaky with adrenaline to stand, but she didnât seem to care.
âwhat were you thinking, going in on your own?â she snapped.
âwell i wasnât expecting to get attacked by killer ants within the campâs borders!â you protested.
âeveryone knows theyâre there.â
âi forgot, okay? iâm not perfect.â
âoh, i know.â she rolled her eyes.
âgods, would you just fuck off?â you finally stood up, face to face with her. âyouâre horrible sometimes, you know that? i canât believe iâve defended you.â
âi donât need your defending.â
âand i donât need your help!â
âyou would have died!â she yelled, emphasising every word.
âbut i didnât!â you shouted back.
she rolled her eyes and stepped closer, anger practically radiating off her. âyeah, thanks to me. youâd be dead if i hadnât followed you in thereââ
âwhy did you follow me?â you asked suddenly, voice harsh.
âwhat?â
âwhy did you follow me?â you asked again, slower. âi didnât ask you to look after me, clarisse.â
there it was again. that slightly relaxation of her shoulders when you said her name. it drove you nuts. you didnât know if you wanted to kiss her for hours or throw her to the myrmeke.
she tensed up again and turned to leave. âwhatever. iâm done here.â
âiâm not!â you gripped her shoulder and pulled her back around. to your surprise, she didnât pull a weapon on you. âwhy did you follow me, clarisse? was it the same reason that you were flirting with me yesterday? and why youâre so protective of me? and why you hate sam?â
âi wasnât flirting with you,â she grumbled. âand i hate sam for⌠personal reasons. and iâm not protective of you! why would you even think that?â
âthatâs all bullshit and you know it,â you sneered.
âgods, you aggravate me!â she exclaimed.
âyou didnât have to come help me,â you scoffed, stepping back. âi didnât ask for your help.â
âand i didnât want to help you!â
âthen why did you? huh? you could handle not winning a fight? you wanted to finish the argument on your terms?â your eyebrows were raised and your face was cold. âor were you gonna beat me up but the giant killer ants got to me first?â
she looked like she was about to explode with anger. âbecause i love you!â
the air escaped from your lungs in one sharp moment, and it looked like hers did the same thing.
âwhat?â you asked, your voice softer.
it was silent. she looked like she was trying to find something to say, but couldnât. her mouth opened and closed weakly, and she shook her head, lips pressed together. you wanted to kiss her.
so you did.
she tensed up as your hands came to her waist, pulling her body and lips against yours hard. then, finally, she relaxed. she dropped her spear at your feet and raised her hands to your hair, threading her fingers through the strands. she was a softer kisser than youâd expected, but it was definitely her. it was all her. the tug on your hair, the underlying, undeniable harshness of the kiss, the spear that rested against your foot. it was perfectly clarisse. you could have kissed her until the sun went down and the ants came and carried you both to their anthill, and if you stayed kissing her like this, you wouldnât even mind.
when, finally, you pulled away, you were both breathing heavily. all of the tension from the fight hid dissipated, leaving only a warm sparkling in the air, like a mirage around her face in the sunlight. maybe that was a sign? or a vision? whatever it was, it was heaven-sent.
she was smiling. she looked softer like this. gods, you loved it. it felt like fate, and you knew a lot about fate. fate was fickle. fate was cruel. fate brought you the arguments, the myrmeke, the terror. but fate also brought you this. this girl who was glowing in the sun like she was made of pure rays of light. the girl with a spear that she laid down at your feet and would save you barehanded if you asked. the girl who had sunk into your arms like she was made to be there.
âdo you think i can get that new dagger now?â you asked cheekily, playing with the hem of her camp shirt. âi mean, i have girlfriend privileges now, right, babe?â
clarisse rolled her eyes, but she was still smiling. âshut up, devil.â
âooh, devil. thatâs new,â you teased. âi like it. itâs apt.â
âit sure is.â she looked down. âiâm⌠sorry, by the way.â
âme too,â you nodded. âi didnât really mean any of that, you know?â
ââcause you like me,â she said in a teasing voice.
âyeah, âcause i like you, or whatever.â you kissed her again, smiling against her lips. âand i know you like me too, because you so did nearly kiss me in that tree yesterday.â
she shrugged. âmaybe. maybe not. guess weâll never know.â
you found out at the next capture the flag game. and the next. and the next. she would go out of her way to find you, defeat you, then kiss you before running off to win the games. and honestly, you didnât really mind.
fate was a fickle thing, but with clarisse by your side, no one could touch you. sam left you alone, people started treating you better, and you had everything you could ask for. her.
and whenever you two argued, youâd go into the woods together and kill some ants. after all, what says âcoupleâs bondingâ quite like murder?

Fated To Be Yours
You hadn't seen Clarisse since that day of Capture The Flag.
Well, you hadâŚbut everytime she caught you looking at her, or trying to approach her, she would glare at you before storming away.
You can see very clearly why anyone else would be terrified of her.
But not you.
You weren't afraid.
You were curious, and couldn't help but feel a little bit of sadness for your soulmate every time you saw she chose to cover up her mark, her marked hand usually balled in a fist to hide it.
But you couldn't help the longing that pooled you towards her, wanting to at least have a proper conversation. You didn't want for this to be your relationship with your soulmate.
You worked too hard and wondered too long for this to be how it ended up.
So, it was a willing choice as you sat behind a tree, your back to it as you listened to the grunts of Clarisse as she trained, sparring almost, throwing axes, shooting arrows into targets. In absence of her spear, that was courtesy of your brother.
You were working up the courage to talk to her, but every time you would turn to look out behind the tree, watching her spar and train, taking her anger out on the targets and suddenly your hands shook and knees became weak
Your mother told you this would happen when you eventually met a soulmate, but you would have thought you had to be at least standing for your knees to shake like a stupid rom-com.
Finally working up the courage, you looked over your shoulder, leaning out from behind the tree only for life to catch up with you.
Clarisse wasn't there.
You yelled in panic as a forearm pinned your chest against the tree, looking with wide eyes to see Clarisse holding you against the tree, her face full of anger and close to yours.
â...Hi?â You offered meekly, giving a small, nervous smile as you laughed under your breath.
This only makes Clarisse push you harder against the tree trunk at the feeling that pooled in her stomach and rose to her chest as she saw you smile and heard you laugh.
âAre you stalking me?â Clarisse scoffed, looking you over with a weird face before her eyes fell on the mark on your arm that matched hers. She let go of you just as quickly.
âWhat?! No-â you shook your head, pausing to think before continuing. âWell, sorta-â you tried, Clarisse staring at you as she raised a brow at your failed attempts to talk to her.
âoh, come on, you can't ignore me forever!â you exclaimed, Clarisse rolled her eyes before crossing her arms.
âWanna see me try?â She asked, only getting your eyes wide in disbelief.
âDon't be like that, please.â You almost begged, the look on your face making Clarisse soften ever so slightly before averting her eyes to something behind you.
âWhat do you want, stalker?â Clarisse asked, almost wanting to get this over with.
âUm-â you said, looking between her hand and your arm. âThis.â You said, pointing to your mark.
âThat.â You added, grabbing her hand and holding it up to your mark in comparison, surprised at your own boldness, and even more surprised that Clarisse didn't pull away.
âYou gave it to me during the capture the flag? Ring a bell?â
Clarisse could almost laugh, that is, if she wasn't Clarisse, and if she liked the feeling in her chest.
âSo what?â Clarisse shook her head, taking her hand back as she stood up and walked around the tree to go back to her target training.
You followed her with your wide eyes, sputtering for a moment before scrambling up to follow her.
âSo what?!â You reiterated.
âMe- you- we- '' you sputtered once more, gesturing to yourself, then to her, then the bold of you, grunting as she stopped walking suddenly and you bumped into her back.
âYeah, so what?!â Clarisse exclaimed back, almost angry like before, but you could hint a bit of hesitation and something more behind the look on her eyes.
âClarisse-â you tried.
âWhy would you want to be my soulmate?â
Clarisse asked, like she couldn't believe it, that she herself was capable of having a soulmate.
That she, Clarisse La Rue, daughter of Ares, the god of War, was loveable enough for someone to be destined to love her unconditionally.
âWhy wouldn't I?â You asked, shaking your head as if it was the dumbest question. âBecause I- '' you cut her off, a sad look coming over your face suddenly, full of hurt.
Clarisse now knew she would kill whoever made that look come onto your face, but it came from her and she couldnf feel worse
âYou what?â You asked. âAre youâŚare you mad it's me?â You asked softly, brows furrowed with a frown on your lips, hurt clouding your entire being at the feeling of being rejected by the very one who was supposed to love you without condition.
âOf course I am!â Clarisse said like your question was the dumb one. âYou're the literal daughter of Poseidon, you don't need a soulmate like me!â Clarisse insisted.
âWhat does that even mean?! Why- why would my father, someone who has done nothing for me, be the reason that you don't like me?!â You asked, the disbelief and hurt visible in your voice.
âBecause! After everything I've done and everything that comes with me, why would you still want me?â Clarisse shook her head, scoffing a laugh at the thought.
â...you're my soulmate, Clarisse.â You said, emphasizing the word specifically, grabbing onto her wrists almost as if to keep her from leaving.
âI've been looking for you, my entire life, wondering what you're like- wondering what you're like, everything! My entire life!â You said, a smile can't help but make its way into your face as you felt the joy of finding your soulmate once more.
Clarisse simply looked down at your hand that held hers that adorned the same soulmate mark on your arm.
âWell, guess the disappointment doesn't make up for that.â Clarisse muttered quietly, clearly unlike her but everything as of now was unlike her.
You shook your head, almost laughing at the thought.
âWho said I was disappointed?â You asked, Clarisse looking at you with a skeptical face.
âYou're not?â She asked, almost surprised as she got a scoff and a laugh from you.
âClarisse-â you shook your head, the same smile beaming on your face.
âI don't care if you set the camp on fire, or if you throw me in a lake! Disappointed- is beyond what I'm feeling.â
You said lightly, letting the words sink into Clarisse as she just looked you over. You saw the gears turning over in her head, wishing you could be inside her mind to take away all the visible worries.
âBut why?â Clarisse couldn't help but ask.
âyou're my soulmateâŚmy soulmate, Clarisse!â You kept repeating like she didn't know, but it was more for your sake than hers, almost like if you didn't say it the molecules in your body would combust from joy.
âI want to get to know you. I want to like you!â You laughed shamelessly, Clarisse turning her head to look away from you, but you couldn't miss the way the corners of her lips quirked up to fight the smile.
You laughed, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Clarisse couldn't help but lean into the feeling in her chest now at the sound of your laughter.
âDon't you?â You asked, trying to catch her eyes. Clarisse bit her lip, taking a moment before you caught the faintest nod, her eyes finding yours with a small smile, in what others would think was a smirk, but it was a smile to you.
âYeah, sure.â Clarisse agreed, the angered look in her eyes gone and replaced with something more warm you couldn't help but want to drown in.
You smiled, shamelessly as you held onto her hand, not wanting to let go. Without thinking, you leaned in, kissing the corner of her mouth before moving to her lips.
Clarisse was stunned for a moment, taking a second before her eyes dropped closed and leaning into the kiss, reciprocating and not leaving the kiss until you needed breath.
You were breathless for a moment, but the look on Clarisse's face, and the smile on yours, was something you couldn't help but want.
You wanted to go for a second one, but Clarisse laughed under her breath, evading you, but keeping her hold on your wrist as she tugged you along to the tree she had been previously training at.
âPace yourself, you're Poseidon's kid but even you need to breath.â Clarisse jabbed almost playfully, you followed her as she took you to the tree and couldn't help but smile shamelessly.
âYou just take my breath away, my dear.â You tried, Clarisse shaking her head at you and giving you a pointed look as she almost dropped you to sit by the trunk of the tree so you could watch her train.
âDon't make me regret this soulmate thing.â
Your laugh warmed her chest once more.
As the afternoon was taken away by light laughter, and small, unfamiliar yet warm touches, Clarisse couldn't help but feel a bit at ease as she dragged you back to camp.
But she went with a smile on her face, hand in hand with yours as you wore a lovesick look, admiring her as if you weren't being visibly dragged behind her.
You even waved to your brother on the way, the boy stopping in his steps with wide eyes at your and Clarisse's interlocked hands, causing Annabeth to crash into his back, and Griver to follow suit and take them to the floor in a pile of limbs and groans of pain.

wc: 4.5k
You have been in camp half blood for more than 4 years. You have made yourself at home for the last several years.Â
It was easy to view yourself as lesser or inadequate in comparison to other mortals during your days in the real world before you were sent to camp. The world has never failed to remind you of how different you were. Always too much or not good enough, always special and never normal
And it wasn't like you were dying for some sort of diagnosis to justify why you are the way you are, but upon discovering that you were actually a demigod, it felt like all the questions you've been harboring to yourself was finally answering themselves.Â
Everything clicked. Everything made sense, though at the same time, it felt impossible. You were a very confused little girl when you first arrived at camp. A girl who just wanted someone to tell them that it'll all be alright in the end.
And you still remembered the first person to hold you by your shoulders and made you look into their eyes as they told you that it was all going to be okay.
The girl with beautiful long curls and dark piercing eyes. The girl that everyone else, apparently, was afraid of.
But you could never be afraid of Clarisse La Rue.Â
Not with the way she smiles when every time she sees you, the way she never fails to make you feel included even in activities you're not capable of participating in. Not with the way your whole body electrifies every time your skin touches, when your hands brush against each other.Â
It didn't matter what anyone think, because no one could change the perception you've built of her. Clarisse La Rue is good. Or at least she is to you.
When you first heard of the rumours surrounding her, you did think better than to force a friendship on her. You strayed away from her and stuck to your cabin siblings and your books, but you noticed daily how she'd still go out of her way to talk to you at least once a day.
It didn't need to be a long conversation, just a passing acknowledgement. An easygoing 'hey, how've you been doing.' Sometimes she'd even go as far as cracking a joke with you.
With how serious her face is whenever she make the jokes, you'd have to think twice as hard and thrice as faster than another person to try and guess if she was being genuine or not so you could fit in a necessary laugh when you needed to.
Even as her anger became more apparent because of the new kid's accidental climb to fame and embarrassing the Ares' cabin, she still found time to make a conversation with you.
It had been long since you tried to ignore or avoid her. You learned that her attention towards you is harmless, and that she seemed much more comfortable telling you certain things compared to others. If she has been viewing you as some sort of safe box, then you don't really mind it. You liked listening to her talk and keeping her heart's intent as your secret.
You too, talking to her. To some people, you are reserved, Â
and to others, talkative. Either way, people find it easy to discard you at any moment they decide you are irritating.
But Clarisse listens. And she asks questions, she's patient- much patient that anyone could anticipate or guess.Â
It may be hard for others to believe, but Clarisse is more complex than she seems. She had the capacity to be gentle, and she had the capacity to respect boundaries. The more time you spent with her, the more that side becomes easy for you to access.
Today, however, marks a new record for your friendship with her. A few weeks ago, she had informed you of her newfound interest in the history of folklore monsters. What a coincidence that you were currently self-studying on that specific topic.
She insisted that you hook her in on whatever it is you're learning. She had even gotten you a doughnut to eat together outside the library as you told her of your insights of dragons and their theorized blindness and incapability to differentiate a variety of prey.
The conversation went well, she seemed immensely in awe of your knowledge and had no problem telling you how she felt.Â
You even gave her some book recommendations, though you knew she wasn't much of a reader.
You felt a shift in your relationship that night and had spent the next three days studying more and more about the topic. And today, you had asked her to spend the evening with you.Â
You shouldn't feel so nervous asking her to hang out. That is what friends do, after all.
She found you in the library, sitting on the floor in between two large bookshelves. She had been right on time and enthusiastically so. The two of you sat together, hidden by the shelves as some semblance of privacy.Â
Clarisse looked confused when you had explained that you indeed wanted to spend the rest of the day in the library, but she accompanied you anyways.
You could never get sick of the smell of the books. Old and new, they all have some nostalgic past tied in between the pages, begging to be discovered.Â
You had your back on the walls with tinted windows above your head as she's seated opposite of you in a criss-crossed position.
Today, the library isn't as packed as usual. There were still people walking in and out and checking out the books on the counter, but not too many that it became obnoxiously loud and annoying.Â
After finishing another book of Monsters and how to spot them, you're feeling knowledgeable enough to explain the lore of the Giants to Clarisse, she had asked you about this the other day, giants have been long extinct to the point that some might even say they may have never even existed. And so you were interested in sharing with her all of the information you have learned about the majestic species of a beast.
You started with the general information. The basic understanding of what a Giant is the mythhs of Giants and the validity of those sources. Clarisse listened closely in the beginning, never interrupting you unless she had an actual question.
She seemed in awe of the stories you tell her of. You don't blame her, for you yourself have been most interested in the topic of Giants.
You were an hour an a half in when noticed her attention faltering. She leaned against the cases of books, her eyes twitched slightly when you began to explain the different types of giants, and the difference of how they operate.
Her hands are folded together on her lap, and you can feel her listening in on everything you're telling her as she adds in some commentary here and there, but you also felt that she wasn't entirely in on the conversation.
The dim lights of the library made the atmosphere feel warm and secluded, even with its vast space and many other campers hanging around in the other tables and shelves. You made sure to keep your voice low as you spoke in fear of the librarian kicking you out.Â
You had a good reputation with the library workers, they liked how organized and polite you were.Â
"A lot of people think their greatest strength is their size, which is valid, they are huge, but their real weapon is their mouth." You told Clarisse, ignoring the litter of books by your left that you had brought over for reference.
"They kiss you to death?" She asks suspiciously. You laughed shortly and shook your head. "No, I mean their breath."
She responds with an 'ohh.'Â
"They're giants, so their mouth is large too, and you can easily tell what they had for breakfast even from their tall height. Their breaths are also known to be so rancid it could kill you, because they don't exactly eat what we eat."Â
She raises a brow as she stretches her hands upwards. "Isn't that ogres?"Â
"It's both." You confirmed.
You were about to continue your explanation but halted by instinct as you notice how her mouth keeps pursing together as if unsatisfied, and she has that look on her face that mimicked a confused expression. You're don't think there's anything to be confused of.
"Are you okay?" You asked her worriedly. Clarisse sits up straighter at the question and waved a hand off to assure you she's fine. "Of course, no yeah- I'm fine."
"You seem bored, you're not really interested in what I'm saying are you?â She opens her mouth to counter your words but hesitates to say anything.Â
"I- well, I like giants-" She attempts, "-no you don't. "Â
"No. I don't." She admits with a sigh. "But I thought you said you were interested in these kind of stuff?" You questioned her. "Well, yeah, like the general idea of it. I mean, I don't hate it, and I like hearing you talk about it." She answers with a shrug.
"Then why do you look disappointed? If you didn't want to come, you could've just told me. I wouldn't get mad." You told her honestly. It was conflicting for you to see her so confused on what to say, being so picky with the words she chooses.
You figured she's probably reluctant to hurt your feelings. That is a notion you're used to. You'd rather she tell you the truth to your face than to be catered around like a time ticking bomb that everyone's so afraid might explode at any time.Â
"When you asked me out yesterday, you told me this would be an 'evening to remember." She tells you with such confidence like it was an explanation to her weird behaviour today.
"You don't think this is an evening to remember?" You sincerely inquire.
"No, I do! I just- well, when you said that I didn't think you'd mean we'd be doing this." Your frown deepens as you try to figure out what she means, eyeing her body language closely. âWhat do you mean? I told you I wanted to hang out.âÂ
A part of you is offended. She was the one who had said she liked hearing you speak, why would she be disappointed that this was your idea of spending time together?
"I don't know, I thought we'd just be doing...something else?"
It didn't matter what she had really meant with that. You felt completely embarrassed once she finished her sentence. Why was it that everyone else had no problem having long conversations with their friends, but when it came to you, it's all too awkward, unnecessary, and odd?Â
You liked Clarisse, you considered her your friend. Sometimes you wonder if it could ever be more, but you never entertain those thoughts because you don't want to ruin what the two of you already have.Â
But moments like these resemble a huge slap in the face by the universe.
You couldn't even be good friends with her, how ridiculous of you to think that there could ever be something more.
"Okay, um, maybe we should just go back to our cabin." You decided whilst standing up and picking up the stack of books you're currently borrowing from the library, ready to leave the place without waiting for her.
"Hey, wait." She called out as you walked past her. You spared her a glance, trying your best not to show how upset you are. âWe're friends." She says it so much like a question that you weren't sure if she's even sure of the fact herself until she continued speaking. "I like hanging out with you."
Another thing that you weren't sure if she really meant. "Sure." You replied thinking it's the most suitable response.Â
Before she could say anything else, you turned around and started picking up your pace until you disappeared out of her sight.
â
You have been consistently ignoring Clarisse. Which proved to be harder than expected.
When you pass by her camp or the training ground, you make a mental note to always look down or to your front as to never accidentally cross eyes with her.
And everytime you hear her call out your name, you keep walking like you didn't even hear her, knowing that she wouldn't be bold enough to call for you again. After all, she still had a reputation to uphold.
If ignoring her wasn't hard enough, having to deal with how you felt for her is worse.
You've been avoiding confrontation with yourself for weeks even before you decided to go no contact with her.
And so far, you thought you've been handling it pretty well. Except for days where you don't see her where she's expected to be. You tell yourself that you don't care as you make your way to training in the day and reading in the evening, and yet you still go back on your own words when you asked a passerby Ares kid on where his cabin leader was.
"She's dunking some kid's head into a toilet bowl." Of course she was.
You thanked the dude and went back on your way to your cabin. It's close to dusk, the sky is turning orange and the sun is dipping itself below the earth. You take your time returning to your cabin as you enjoy the way the sun slowly removes itself from anyone's viewing.
You wondered to yourself if things like these are what makes you weird or off-putting to some people.
Was enjoying nature and having niche interests only cute when it's done by girls pretty enough to be cool or if it's only in romance movies or books.
You don't find yourself weird, in fact you think all of your hobbies are pretty common and usual, and yet the way Clarisse had spoken to you at the library last week had made you feel unnatural.
You had wanted to do normal people things with her, but maybe your perception of normal is different to her.
Either way, you are pretty hurt with how she reacted. You loved her still, of course. It's kind of hard to unlike the girl you've been obsessed with since you were 15.
Once you finally reach your cabin, you quickly put down all of your books and your tiny sling back by the side before making it to the shower to refresh yourself before dinner.
You thought it hilarious of how hard you're trying not to care about Clarisse, and yet as you're cleaning yourself up, changing your clothes and attempting to read at least 15 pages of your World's Most Dangerous Beasts book, you could only think of her.
What would it take for her to think that you're cool, what kind of things did she want to do instead of listening to you yap around for 2 hours on what is an equivalent of a boring dinosaur facts, not that you really think dinosaurs are boring.
During dinner, you kept to siblings and had to make yourself finish your plate as your anxiety wrecking thoughts have a way of deriving you of an appetite. You also had to convince yourself to not search for her at the other tables which took more strength than one would expect.
But you succeeded, and you were now sure that the only obstacle left for the day was to try and fall asleep without the thoughts of her keeping you up.
Clarisse is a force, a fierce daughter of Ares, and a cabin leader who had much better things to do then hole up at quiet small places with you.
And just because she was nice enough to mantain a good relationship with you for 4 years, does not mean that you're worth her time. Or at least that's what you tell yourself.
That night, you managed to fall asleep after an hour of recalling Harpy facts in repetition. Counting sheeps had never worked on you, so you had to find something much more active to tire out your brain.
You dreamed of Clarisse with her hair down, holding your hand and pulling you closer so she could slip a flower on your ear.
And just as she's looking down at you, moving closer to do what it seemed like to kiss you, you awoke with a jolt, swearing under your breath as if you'd just gotten jumpscared by a ghost.
Someone's palms moved to shut your lips as you're met with a girl, hovering over you in the dark. Clarisse's dark eyes were recognizable, but it sent a shot of adrenaline through your body still.
"Shh." She whispered to your face, hand still keeping your mouth shut. "I'm going to remove my hands now." She whispered again. You nod in understanding and waited for her to pry her hand away from your face.
"What are you doing here?!" You exclaimed as quiet as possible as she helped you sit up.
"I'm sneaking you out." She answers with a wink. "It's 2 in the morning." You waved your hand around at the darkness and sleeping children. "3 in the morning, and yeah, I know. That's why it's called sneaking around." She corrects you with a grin so devilish that if you hadn't known her for a long time, you'd assume she's about to turn you into a new toilet bowl or dumpster boxing victim.
You sighed loudly and glared at her despite your fast beating heart. Her hand remained on top of yours until the minute becomes more awkward and she removes it as if she just remembered that she's been holding your hand.
Without explanation, she climbed out of your bed and tiptoes to the open cabin door. You're still sitting up and looking at her with conflicted feelings.
Only after she turns back to you, cocking her head towards the entrance, do you give into her request and softly leave the comfort of your bed and trail after her.
"Where are we going?" You asked after her as she kept walking. Instead of responding, she asks you another question back, "Can you swim?"
"We're going swimming?" You watch her shrug in return from behind her and became even more distressed.
"So, is this your idea of having fun and hanging out then?" She laughs drily and slowed down so you could catch up. You walked fast enough until you're beside her and waited for her to talk. "You sound surprised, I would've thought that after 4 years of friendship, you'd know by now that I love doing things that includes active movements."
You did know that, it's a bit hard to not notice how much working out, training and running fuels her even more.
"And why are we doing it in the middle of the night?" The walk towards the lake by the back of the forest was short, considering that your cabin is the closest to the location.
You almost tripped and fell over a stick, but Clarisse was quick to scoop you back up by the back of your shirt. "Thanks." You mumbled to her. "And you haven't answered my question."
Clarisse pulled her shirt over her head and tossed it on the ground without caring of your presence. You, having more moral obligations than her, twisted your face to your left when she began to pull her trousers off. "Too many people in broad daylight." She tells you.
That is a valid reason, this lake is mostly known as a hook up spot, and true to it's cause, many dating campers have been caught together here during dawn or late evenings.
You braved yourself to turn towards her again slowly and realised that she had already hopped into the water. She had a sports bra on and a boxer.
And though you yourself had a tank top and shorts on, you contemplate the idea of suicide as a better choice than having to strip in front of her.
"Are you gonna get in, or are you just gonna gawk at me from there?" You were grateful for the dark being able to hide your flushed face from her, but deep down, you knew that she probably saw it anyways because of the shining bright moonlight.
"I can't swim." You told her.
"That's fine, the water's not very deep." You ransacked your brain for reasons to decline her offer, but at the same time, a small part of you yearned to take this risk that you've been so afraid of for gods knows whatever reason.
Clarisse is there, in the water and under the moonlight. You are only a few steps away from her. And like she said, the water isn't deep, only waist length. She stares back at you with a raised brow like she's challenging you to join her.
"Turn around first." You tell her. She smirked slightly before slowly spinning to the opposite direction. "You know I've seen you naked before right?"
"What?" You choked out, aghast. "Who do you think changed your clothes for you when you first got to camp." Oh, that.
Your shoulder relaxes as you realize she's talking about the first time you met. "That's was a long time ago." You noted. She hummed im agreement. "Yeah, we've both grown since."
You told her she could turn around once you're inside the water. Forgetting about the heighy difference between you two, the water was high enough to reach your chest, trying your best not to trip underwater the way you always do on dry ground, your hand instinctively reached outnfor her shoulder.
Clarisse held your forearm tightly and drew your closer to her until you're inches away from eachother.
You breathed in sharply and felt the need to fill in the awkward silence. "So, you...like swimming, huh?"
"Yes, evidently so." She answered. "Right right, can't sit still and all that." She actually chuckled at your sarcasm, making you proud of yourself.
"You know, even before I came to camp Half Blood, I use to be a pretty active person, running track, volleyball, sometimes swimming." Your eyes widened in curiosity. "Really?" She nodded.
"The counselor told my mom that I just had so many untapped energy, which I guess is a code for anger issues." Her grip on your forearm moves higher until her palm is over your shoulder. "She told her that it'd be best for me to find a...healthy way, to channel that energy, and for my strong competitiveness. So I joined what I could, and that's how I spent most of my free time there. Besides, I never was that good academically. So, I ought to at least be good at something, right?"
"You are good." You blurted out. Your embarrassment faded away when you saw her smile. "You think so?"
"Yeah." You assured her. Her other hand had snaked around your waist without you noticing. Only when you moved slightly do you notice her holding you softly.
"The moon is really nice tonight, isn't it?" You said, trying to diffuse the tension. You pointed your finger up to the sky at the singular white orb.
She glanced up and let out a 'huh.'
"I like it when it's bright and whole like this, the moon in all of its glory. You don't even notice the starts around it when it's glowing like that." You could stare at the moom forever, even longer than the way you've been staring at the sun.
You believed in it the way children do with their birthday candle. To you, the moon has always been a symbol of hope or comfort for your future. Your fascination for it existed from when you were a child, the way it'd follow you from behind as you gazed upon it from the back of the car seat whilst your parent drove down the road.
The way it moved above you as you walked home from school, like one of the gods themselves watching over you.
"Nothing compares to the moon." You announced aloud, watching as the clouds around it began to gather over it. "Yeah, It's beautiful." You hear Clarisse speak.
As your head snapped back to her, you found that she had already been facing you.
"I like the moon...but not as much as I like you." She whispered loud enough for your ears only. Her face leans closer to yours, your noses brushing together. "Not as much as I like to hear your voice, when you tell me about your little harpy facts-"
"Oh, I haven't told you about the harpies yet." You cut her off. "I just finished that chapter this morning actually and-"
"-and, you can tell me about it after I'm done talking." You blushed and became silent, letting her speak.
Clarisse exhaled breathily, fanning your face with the subtle warm air. "I like doing things that friends do with you, but I don't want to be your friend anymore."
"Oh."
"I want to be more than friends." She elaborated.
"Oh." Oh.
You feel a sudden tightness in your chest, from anxiety or from butterflies is undecided. "You want to be best friends?" You joked, laughing nervously.
Clarisse snorted at your joke, but she was still grinning widely. "Best friends, If that's what you want to call it."
There was a moment of understanding shared between a second of shared gazes before her lips attached themselves to yours. An urgency, approval, meaning that can't be described by words.
Whatever gentleness there was inside of her before had vanished. Clarisse kissed you like a starved woman. Her lips craved yours like it'd be the last time she'll ever know how you taste like.
Your hands clasped on her shoulder and neck for support as she embraced you tighter to her body. You let her tongue slip into your mouth, meeting your own.
And as they danced together, inhaling all there is in your lips, every secret and every confession that have died on the tip ofnyour tongues, you are sure that no heaven nor hell could tear you open to see you back together like this.
You push her back abruptly, letting fresh air fill your empty lungs. "What's wrong?" Clarisse inquired worriedly.
"Last week." You sighed out, chest still heaving as your thoughts clicked together. "You thought I had asked you on a date, that's why you were disappointed."
She winced at the reminder, and for the first time in your life, you had been lucky enough to witness a flustered Clarisse.
"I'm right." Her silence confirmed. "Oh Clarisse, why didn't you just ask me?"
Huffing loudly, she rolls her eyes in irritation. "I thought I was obvious enough. "
Thinking back on it all, it did seem pretty obvious, but gods were you oblivious. The way you intepreted it all so wrongly.
"I've liked you for so long too." You admitted to her. Her scowl was gone at that, replaced by a teasing smile. "And what are you gonna do about it?" Her mouth returned to yours, letting go of all your fears and holding on to Clarisse like she's your anchor, you close the gap between your lips, welcoming the kind of pleasure that you've never tasted before.

SHAPESHIFT | CLARISSE LA RUE
pairing: clarisse la rue x female!reader
summary: clarisse wonders if you know just how much she likes you.
word count: 2.1k
author's note: this is the first part of a two part series i'm writing based on jenna doe's songs: shapeshift + pink slips. this is from clarisse's pov and the second one is from readers' :) lmk if you want to be tagged in part 2 <3
i. i think you have a type, and it's not me
Clarisse has been watching you from the second you arrived at camp. Since you spent every day doing more or less the same thing, she was able to pick up on your routine pretty fast. Two sugars in your coffee every morning. A walk around the lake in the afternoon. Archery practice before the sunset.Â
She felt weird going to practices at the same time as you, but she couldnât help herself. Whenever she got a chance to sneak away from her siblings in the Ares cabin, she always found herself back in your presence. However, the thought to approach you like a normal person had never crossed her mind. Clarisse is the kind of person that needs to be in control, and talking to you one-on-one would mean letting her inhibitions take over, so she always made sure to keep her distance.Â
Once or twice, Clarisse had seen you on dates with another camper. At first, she thought you were just having a picnic with the girl from Aphrodite, until the two of you began holding hands. The next day, Clarisse saw you in the other girlâs sweater, which made her so sick she avoided you for an entire week.
The Aphrodite girl (her name, Clarisse later found out, was Stacy) began showing up with you more often. Stacy wore bows in her hair and pearl necklaces, whereas Clarisseâs mascara was always smudged and accessories that didnât double as weapons felt wrong on her. For the first time, Clarisse wondered why she couldnât just be like all the other girls. Or at least, a girl you would pay attention to.Â
It wasnât for a lack of trying. Clarisse tried to make her penchant for you as obvious as possible, while actively hiding it from the rest of camp. This proved to be difficult because at the same time, she also didnât want to get too close to you because, wellâ what would she even say to you?
Her flirting consisted of winking at you during Capture the Flag or from across the dining hall. She had an ongoing list of nicknames of what to call you when no one else was around, but those moments were few and far between. Once, she even went as far as brushing away a stray piece of hair that had fallen on your face. There seemed to be nothing left for her to do except put bows in her hair or maybe paint her nails, and the thought of doing either of those things made her almost as sick as seeing you and Stacy together.Â
Between her and the Aphrodite girl, she knew which girl you would choose. Had chosen.Â
ii. mold me how you want me to be
Still, that was not going to stop Clarisse. She had never backed down from a fight before, and this was no different. Even if Stacy didnât know it, she had become Clarisseâs number one enemy, even more so than that Percy Jackson kid that had recently shown up at camp. It just wasnât fair that she had been watching you for so long and here comes Aphroditeâs daughter out of nowhere to sweep you off your feet.Â
Since Clarisse knew your routine by heart, she devised a plan to get you alone. She decided that she would finally make a move, and then you could pick for yourself who you wanted to be with. Easy enough, right?
At night, Clarisse lay awake in bed thinking about you, Stacy, then you and Stacy together. Though she didnât want to go there, her brain wondered what the two of you were doing at that very moment. Her thoughts ranged from tame, to slightly more unhinged. Like, were you lying underneath the stars on your picnic blanket? Or was Stacy doing your makeup as she straddled your lap?
Clarisse didnât pray often, but ever since she met you, she had taken to silently wishing you would acknowledge her. Each time she saw you with your arms wrapped around Stacy, she yearned to know what that would feel like. Not that she thought you would come near her with a ten-foot pole. Stacy is sweet, like bubblegum or strawberries from the fields, and Clarisse is the opposite. If you tasted her, she might make your gums bleed.
Before you, she was never the kind of girl to care about her appearance. Gods, she was the daughter of Ares, they werenât known for their beauty but their strength and power and when it came to those categories, Clarisse knew that she had Stacy beat.Â
And yet, Clarisse would change just about anything about herself if it would make you like her more. In your hands, she would turn into putty, moldable clay to take the shape of your ideal lover. Hell, she would change her name if she thought you didnât like the sound of it.
iii. kill anyone if you ask me toÂ
A few weeks later, the Ares cabin and yours happened to be on the same team for Capture the Flag. It was the closest Clarisse had been to you ever since you began dating Stacy. The proximity to you was killing her, but she had to stay focusedâon winning the game and your heart.
Putting aside her wandering thoughts, Clarisse barked out instructions to the campers. When she got to your cabin, she assigned you and your half-siblings to be the second line of defense for the flag. Clarisse figured this way, she could keep you out of harmâs way. Also, this was her one chance to talk to you without Stacy hanging off your body and she wasnât going to let this opportunity pass.Â
After the first conch blew, Clarisse went on high-alert mode. Her team had lost the last game to Luke and Annabethâs team, but she was not going to accept defeat this time. Her eyes darted back and forth between blind spots in the forest and you and the flag.Â
As she absent-mindedly waved her new spear around, Clarisse heard soft footsteps behind her. She whipped her head around with her weapon aimed in the air, preparing to fight whoever had approached her.Â
âShit, Y/N, you scared me.â It was just you. Waitâ it was you.
âIâm sorry, didnât mean to,â you responded, your hands in front of you.
Clarisse almost couldnât believe her eyes. Did someone poison her earlier and she was hallucinating right now? Okay, keep it cool.
âIs something wrong?â Clarisse managed to ask after composing herself, realizing that you had moved away from your post.Â
âUh, no. I- um⌠heard about what happened to your spear last week, and I just wanted to say Iâm sorry,â you smiled nervously.Â
âWhy?â
âWhyâŚ. am I sorry?â
Clarisse wanted to slap her hand across her forehead. Why did she say that? She meant to ask why are you talking to me right now? What did I do to deserve this? But she didnât know how to word that in a way that wouldn't make you think she was crazy.Â
When she didnât respond, you began backing away. âLook, Iâm sorry if this is a sensitive topic. I just felt bad, is all.â
âNo!â Clarisse began panicking. âI didnât mean it like that- just, why are you talking to me now? Weâve never had a real conversation before.âÂ
âDoes it matter?â She expected you to be confused, but the look at your face seemed more amused than anything.Â
âNo, I guess not,â Clarisse couldnât help but smile. Gods, why was she so awkward? Anyone else, she wouldâve been perfectly fine, but in the last few minutes, her mouth had gone dry and her legs felt as though they would give out at any second.
âGreat,â you beamed in return. Clarisseâs eyes catch yours and the two of you stare at each other in content for a minute. Or at least, you are. Clarisse is convinced an Aphrodite kid has changed her pupils to hearts. âI havenât seen you around lately,â you broke the silence.Â
âWhat do you mean? Iâm always around,â Clarisse stammered for an excuse.Â
âWell, sure. Itâs a small camp.â You seemed to be enjoying seeing Clarisse fumble for words. âBut I used to see you all the time. At breakfast and archery.âÂ
Clarisse ignored the implications of your comment. âOh, I guess we just started going at different times then. You know youâre always with Stacy nowââÂ
At the mention of your girlfriendâs name, your face contorted into something strange and unfamiliar to Clarisse. But before she could figure it out, a noise behind you caused the two of you to turn around abruptly.Â
âY/N, watch out!â Clarisse shouted at you, but it was too late. Someone had dragged you backwards, knocking your weapon out of your hand. You struggled to free yourself, but whoever was holding you had revealed a dagger and you didnât want to risk accidentally cutting yourself.Â
âIf you know whatâs best for yourself, let her go.â Clarisse breathed furiously, pausing between the last three words in her sentence. You couldnât see who was restraining you, but you could feel their heart rate quicken at the sight of Clarisseâs spear getting dangerously close.Â
âAnd what if I donât?â they responded. You knew that they were just putting on a front, you could feel their chest heaving up and down on your back. Clarisse seemed to know this too, sheâs always been able to sense fear in peopleâ mostly because she is the one that invokes it.Â
âI donât think you want to find out,â she grinned, a wicked smile on her face. The next second, her spear had jabbed into the camperâs side, causing them to let go of their hold on you. You dropped to the ground.Â
âShit!â the camper swore, rubbing their ribcage. âYouâre not supposed to actually hurt me!â You could see their face now, one of Hermes' kids youâve seen hanging around Luke.Â
âNow, whatâs the fun in that?â Clarisse laughed. âBesides, the spearhead is blunt. Youâll be fine, drama queen.âÂ
The kid scrambled away, leaving behind the dagger they had previously threatened you with. Clarisse ran over, instinctively putting her hands on your face. âAre you okay?â
âYeah, I think so.â You began to stand up, but Clarisse pushed you back down.Â
âClar, come on, Iâm fine.âÂ
âAre you sure? Let me just get a look at you,â she insisted, ignoring the way your nickname for her made something in her stomach flip over. You relented, knowing it was useless to argue with her. You allow her to scan your body for any signs of harm. Clarisse took her time, unsure of when the next time she would be this close to you again. Most of your body was covered by your armor or clothes, so her eyes drifted toward your exposed arms and the area where the kid had touched you.Â
Hesitantly, she reached for the side of your stomach. âAre you sore? Did they leave a mark?âÂ
âNo, I donât think so,â you shook your head, lifting up the hem of your shirt to see. You heard Clarisseâs breath hitch. âWhat? Whatâs wrong?â You were fully sat up now.Â
âN-nothing!â Color rushed into Clarisseâs cheeks, causing her to turn her head away suddenly.Â
You giggled, her reaction not going unnoticed. âThanks for saving me, tough girl.âÂ
âOf course.â Clarisse pulled you up on your feet. âAnything for you, pretty girl.â The words slipped out of her mouth before she could register it. The two of you stared at each other again, it seemed as though eye contact was your main form of communication at the moment. And right now, Clarisseâs eyes were sparkling with something familiar, almost like how Stacy looks at youâ
âOh my god, babe! Are you okay?â Speaking of the devil, Clarisse rolled her eyes at the sight of your girlfriend running up.Â
âStacy! Howâd you know something was wrong?â You were pulled into a stifling hug, the air thick with floral perfume.Â
âSilly girl, I am the daughter of Aphrodite. I have a heightened sense for these things,â Stacy pulled her arms away and gave you a once-over, presumably to check for injuries, before smothering you with kisses.Â
Clarisse coughed, once, and then again a little louder. âOh!â Stacy turned toward her. âClarisse, I didnât see you there.âÂ
âI wouldnât be standing here if it werenât for her,â you said, sensing Clarisseâs uneasiness.Â
Now, Stacyâs face contorted into something strange. Shamelessly, Clarisse took pride in being the cause of it.Â
âWell, thank you,â she responded tersely. âCome on, letâs get one of the Apollo kids to look at you.â Stacy pushed you away before you could protest. You offered Clarisse a weak smile before turning around.Â
Clarisse sighed, maybe if she had been a daughter of Aphrodite, she could shapeshift into someone you walked away withâ not from.
That night, she prayed to Ares for the first time in months.

It was quiet, far too quiet after having lived in the Hermes cabin for so long. A statue of Zeus was in the middle of the room, and you couldnât help but think how vain you father must be to put a statue of himself in here.Â
The afternoon had been chaotic, with Mister D and Chiron taking you away from the group to talk, Percy the only one allowed with you as you were now both children of the big three. After that they had sent you to your new cabin, you still had to retrieve your clothes and stuff from the Hermes cabin, but you just needed a moment.Â
The quiet was suddenly broken by a loud whistle.
âDamn, Zeus really made an effort here,â you hear Clarisse say as she looks around, curious eyes looking around the room. She was right, it was much bigger than the other cabinâs you had seen with a living room when you entered and a second floor where multiple beds could be placed. It looked like a bank, mixed with lightening bolds and clouds drawn on the ceiling.
âHe sure did, wonder why,â you canât help but say, wondering for the hundredth time in the past hour why the God of Thunder had suddenly decided you were worth something.
There was a silence that accompanied your words before you felt the couch dip and the smell of woods filled your senses.Â
âHow are you doing?â, Clarisse looks unsure when you turn to her, but the only thing you can do is sigh in response.
âI donât know, my father suddenly decides that Iâm worth something and claims me in front of everyone. Now I am going to be living in this enormous cabin alone and everyone will probably avoid me because a child of the big three is like the most dangerous thing possible,â you take a deep breath after spilling everything that you had been thinking. Clarisse seems surprised at your outburst, and you feel your cheeks heat up in embarrassment.Â
âSorry, I guess it just needed to get out and you are the first person I talked to since then. Percy had to stay with Chiron,â Clarisse makes a noise of disagreement as you turn to look at your hands.
âI donât mind, really. I mean your life did a complete turnaround in the last hour I think itâs normal for you to be having a hard time,â a smile appears on your lips without you even noticing, and as you look at her, she has a soft smile on her lips, one that you havenât seen before.Â
âI canât tell you that it will all be alright but try to see the good side of it all, now you have a cabin for yourself without idiots running around all the time,â her words make you snort as you canât help but agree, as much as you loved the comradery in the Hermes cabin it was always chaotic.Â
âAnd if anyone has a problem with you, you tell me and Iâll make sure they donât say anything anymore,â the sweet look she had just a second ago has morphed into determination and you canât stop yourself from smiling.
âDonât worry Clarisse Iâll be fine, but thank you,â you tell her, and she nods slowly, she looks unsure for a moment and the both of you look at each other before she finally speaks.
âIâm here for you, if you ever need something I will always be there,â she says it with such determination and emotions that you can only believe her, feeling lost at the feeling in your chest at her words.
âThank you. Iâm also always there for you if you need me,â you tell her with a soft smile and she seems surprised for a moment before nodding, you donât know if you are tired or if there is really a blush on her cheeks.Â
âI should go pick up my stuff at the Hermes cabin otherwise I will never get settled in before the bonfire tonight,â Clarisse has a bright smile at the words before getting up with you.
âSo, Iâll be seeing you at the bonfire tonight?â, she seems confident as she speaks, but you can see some doubt lingering in her eyes.
âOf course, Iâll see you there!â, you tell her as she looks at you for a moment, seemingly trying to read your expression. Before you can ask her if everything is alright you feel a soft kiss on your cheek and Clarisse running off before you can say anything.
Your mouth is wide open, and your cheeks feel like they are burning as you touch the spot where she kissed you, the feeling of her lips still lingering there.Â
--
âComing to pick up your stuff?â, you hear as you are packing up one of your shirts in the bag, Luke is leaning against one of the double beds as you look behind you.
âI am, otherwise, I will have to come back every time for my stuff. Might not be se practical,â you tell him awkwardly, you didnât know how to act around him anymore, not after the conversation you had overheard yesterday.
âI guess congratulations are in order,â he says after a few seconds of silence, and you turn around to look at him properly.
âThank you, never thought this day would come but it has,â the both of you look at each other for a moment before Luke sighs.
âYou know that you are always welcome here, right? Donât ever hesitate to come by, I know the younger kids will miss you,â he says, and you canât help but smile at his words, you would also miss them and their youthful innocence.Â
âIâll miss you too,â the words make you turn to look back at him from the bunks you were looking at and you can see him now being closer to you then before.
âReally?â, you canât help but ask, feeling unsure after what he had said to Chris but as you look into the familiar brown eyes you canât seem to find any trace of lying.
âOf course, you were here for three years I donât know how it will be now that you arenât here anymore,â you want to tell him that it will probably better for him without you clinging to him as Chris has said it, but you canât find the strength to say it.
Luke gets closer to you and suddenly you find yourself having to look slightly upwards to look him in the eyes.
âDonât be a stranger,â he whispers, and you shake your head slowly, trying to find an answer while getting lost in his eyes.
âI wonât,â you tell him, sure of yourself and Luke seems relieved at your words before he gets even closer to you.
And for a moment the two of you look at each other, wondering what was about to happen and if you should really cross that line until the door of the cabin slams open making the both of you jump away in surprise. Silena is at the entrance of the door, looking at the both of you with angry eyes and you suddenly wonder what you had done to have the Aphrodite girl mad at you.
âIâm here to help you get your stuff to your cabin,â she says, and you wouldâve found the gesture sweet if she hadnât still been glaring at the two of you.
âThank you, I just finished packing everything,â you say after awkwardly clearing your throat.
âI guess Iâll see you around Luke,â the boy nods in agreement, looking a bit scared to answer as the Aphrodite girl is still glaring at him.
The walk to your cabin is silent, Silena not speaking a word to you, and you know better than to try and say something when she has ignored your previous attempts at a conversation.
âYou need to make a choice,â she suddenly says as you drop your bags near your bed, making you look at her with wide eyes.
âWhat do you mean?â, you feel confused at her statement, but she just lets out a loud sigh, looking annoyed.
âBetween Luke and Clarisse, you canât play with their emotions forever,â the words are like a slap in the face as you look at the girl with wide eyes.
âWait-what?! I am not doing anything like that!â, you canât help but say, your voice getting louder as you feel insulted by what she insinuated, as if you had been playing on purpose with their emotions.
âI donât even know why you would even say that when there is nothing happening between me and Luke or me and Clarisse,â you say before she can even open her mouth and she scoffs loudly.
âYou know for a daughter of Zeus you really are clueless,â she says, and you feel even more frustrated.
âWhat in the gods name do you mean?â, you can feel the anger coming up, as you try to remember what could possibly have led to this conversation.
âIt is not my place to tell you, but you really should open up your eyes before you hurt all three of you,â she says with a cold look and you feel once again lost, you thought that the two of you had gotten closer last night but now looking at her you couldnât remember the sweet girl from that night.
âActing like a victim or like you donât know what Iâm talking about wonât get you anywhere,â the words feel like a slap in the face, and you try to keep yourself calm but the sound of thunder makes the two of you look up. The ceiling that had previously been a soft gray was now getting darker with thunder rumbling.Â
âGet out,â you tell her before turning around, not wanting to see the girl any longer after what she had just told you.Â
And for a moment you thought that she had left before her voice broke your thoughts once again, only this time softer.
âIâm sorry, for what I said it wasnât fair,â the words are spoken softly, carefully like she wants to make sure you donât get angry.
âItâs okay, guess you needed to say what you really thought, good to know what people think of me,â you canât help but mutter as you put the last of your stuff away, not hearing the sigh Silena lets out.
âI didnât think that, not really, I guess that I am protective of Clarisse and sometimes I attack people who hurt her like some kind of-â, she seems to try and find the correct word, so you turn around with raised eyebrows.
âA chihuahua?â, she snorts at the words before nodding slowly, letting you think of her previous words.
âWhy do you think I hurt Clarisse? I saw her just two hours ago and everything was fine,â you tell her, and she sighs quietly before sitting down on your bed with a grimace.
âSheâs going to kill me,â she whispers under her breath while you canât help but look at her feeling confused.
âClarisse likes you; she has for the past two years and probably before that,â the words are like a bullet, hitting you right through your chest. You donât know what to say as you open and close your mouth multiple times. Silena has an understanding smile on her lips as she pats the spot next to her on the bed, making you sink into it while your thoughts are running wild.
âI didnât- I really didnât know,â you tell her, and she nods quietly, like she already knew what you were going to say.
âI know, you donât seem to realize that people are interested in you,â she says it like a fact, and you canât help but nod in agreement.
âI donât know what to do,â you say after a moment, your voice barely above a whisper but Silena seems to have heard you as she sighs.
âI think that you need to wrap your head around all of this and that you need to think about who you really have feelings for. But if you donât go for Clarisse, please be kind to her, she looks tough, but she has a soft spot,â the words are carefully said but you canât help but feel offended as she seems to think you would hurt the Ares girl.
âOf course, I would never hurt her,â you say quickly and Silena smiles knowingly, as if she knows something that you donât know yet.
âGood, Iâll let you think in peace,â she says before getting up and squeezing your shoulder in reassurance.
The silence of the cabin is once again taking over the place but this time you welcome it as your head is filled with questions. Silena seemed to think that both Luke and Clarise were interested in you and that you had to make a choice. Your groan loudly as you put your head into a cushion, wondering how you were going to make a decision.
You had always liked Luke, or at least had a crush on him but as you think back of the last few days the only thing you can think about is Clarisse. The way she had quickly taken you under her wing, kissed you on the cheek and came to see you to make sure you were alright.Â
Your thoughts are quickly broken by a loud bang of the door, making you jump in surprise.
âSorry for the door but I am officially moving in!â, you hear Percy yell and as you look over the silver balcony you come face to face with a smiling Percy, a pillow under his arm and a bag with his stuff in his hand.
âYou do know that we have pillows here?â, you say teasingly, unable not to smile as the boy shrugs his shoulders and starts climbing up the stairs. The sight of him makes you calm down as you finally feel at ease for a moment.
âI hope it isnât an issue that Iâm here, it just gets lonely there,â he says, looking a bit awkward for a moment but you just take his bag out of his hand to bring it to the bed on the other side of the room.
âOf course not! Iâm glad that you are here, it was getting a bit to calm in here,â you say after a moment and Percy seems relieved at your words.
âSo, whatâs the gossip?â, Percy asks after laying down like a starfish on the bed making you snort.
âWhat do you want to know?â, the boy looks unsure for a moment before a mischievous grin appears.
âEverything, but perhaps what is happening between you and Clarisse at the moment,â you glare at the boy, who tries to look innocent, but you can see the mischief in his eyes.
âFine, I need your opinion on this. But first we are making hot chocolate and face masks,â Percy seems unsure at the second option, but you give him a pointed look before picking up the stuff you would need.
And that is how you find yourself half an hour later in the living room with hot chocolate and the both of you with a face mask telling him everything that had happened.
--
The bonfire was already in full swing as you arrived with Percy, the both of you had quickly gotten ready when you had realized how late it was.
âNow go get her!â, Percy says with a big smile as you look scared for a moment, and you turn around to give him a soft smile.
âThank you for the advice,â you say but the boy simply shrugs his shoulders, a smile on his lips.
âAlways here if you need me, that is what family is for after all,â he says, like itâs the simplest thing in the world and you canât help but feel a bit emotional at the words.
âIâll see you later in our cabin?â, Percy quickly nods with a large grin before giving you a thumbs up and moving towards Annabeth and Grover who were waiting for him.
You turn to look back at the rest of the bonfire, but you canât seem to find the Ares girl, the only girl you find at that moment is Silena, who looks pained. You feel confused as to why before you turn to look closer and see Clarisse and a girl talking, or rather flirting with each other. It feels like someone has thrown a bucket of water over you as you look at the two of them, they looked perfect for each other, and you couldnât shake the feeling of jealousy as you saw Clarisse touching the other girls leg.
âPlease talk to her,â Silena says, and you turn around to suddenly find her next to you. You try to say something, but you arenât able to as you look at both girls.
âWhatâs the point? She seems happy, I donât want to disturb her,â you canât help but say, feeling defeated.
âLook she is just acting like an idiot to get your attention, she was mad when she saw Luke and you nearly kissing so she is probably trying to see if you will react to her flirting with someone else,â Silena seems to be trying to explain everything as quickly as possible, as if she is scared that you would run out of time or that you would just leave.
âFine, Iâll talk to her, after all it seems to be my fault she is talking to that girl. But if she tells me to leave, I am leaving,â you say, and Silena quickly nods in agreement. You take a moment to collect all the possible courage you will need before walking towards the two girls.
âClarisse, hi, could I talk to you?â, you couldâve just started a conversation and then ask the question, but you just needed to talk to her.
âWhy?â, the Ares girl suddenly asks, and you feel lost, she doesnât seem that happy to see you and you try not to feel hurt as she looks at you like you were just some dirt on the side of the road.
âBecause I need to talk to you about something, private,â you say as you quickly look at the other girl before turning back towards Clarisse.
âWhy donât you go talk with Castellan, Iâm sure heâll be interested,â she says with a mean smile, and you feel like the air has left your lungs as she turns back to the girl she was talking to.
âClarisse, please,â you say softly and for a moment you wonder if she has heard you before you see her look up and look at something behind you. You get ready to look at what she could possibly be looking at, but she gets up before you can.
âFine, you have five minutes,â she says, and you let out a sigh of relief as you follow her away from the bonfire and into the woods.
Your relief is quickly forgotten as you start to wonder how you are going to tell her everything. She seems impatient as she has her arms crossed in front of her and her eyebrows raised at you, making you laugh nervously.
âYou know in some cultures, crossing your arms means that you are closing yourself of or protecting yourself,â you canât help but say, and you want to slap yourself as you realize what you just said.
âSo, you took me away to tell me some fun facts? Because then I am leaving,â she says and you see that she is ready to go but you take her arm and she stops immediately, looking at your hand on her arm.
âSorry, Iâm just nervous, let me start again?â, she seems unsure but nods slowly and you clear your throat.
âRight, I donât really know how to say it, but I guess Iâll start by this. I like you Clarisse,â the words feel like a relief but is short lived as Clarisse scoffs and takes her arm out of your grip.
âIs this a joke? First Castellan now me. Did he reject you and you decided to come to the second-best option?â, the words are like a punch in the guts, and you take a few seconds to react but as you watch her leave, this time towards the lake you canât help but react.
âWait! Clarisse! This is not a joke!â, you yell as you follow her and you finally manage to find her as she arrives at the lake, the both of you out of breath.
âReally? How come you were so close to him this afternoon? How come after three years of pining over him you suddenly seem interested in me?â, she yells, and you can see the hurt in her eyes, the pain in them.
âBecause I never knew you were an option for me. I never knew you even knew my name Clarisse, so I didnât think that something could happen between us,â you yell back, feeling desperate for her to listen to you.
âIâm sorry that it took me so long to realize that you were there, that you always were but I am here now, and I am ready to go on my knees to beg you for just a chance,â you tell her, breathless, as you approach her.Â
âI have loved you for three years,â she whispers, like a wounded animal, as if she is scared that you would hurt her but instead you take her hand in yours, unsure if she will reject you or not but she just grips it tightly.
âI know, Silena told me,â you tell her softly and her eyes widen at the words, anger coming up but you take her chin between your fingers, making her look at you.
âI am going to kill her,â she whispers, and you smile at the words.
âPlease donât, sheâs the one that made me realize just how much I liked you,â you whisper, and she looks surprised for a moment before realizing just how close you were.
âShe also helped me go talk to you when I was feeling jealous at the sight of you and that girl,â itâs hard to admit but as you see her eyes sparkling at the confession, you know that you did the right thing.
âNow you know how I felt,â she says, and you canât help but feel bad.
âI know, Iâm sorry for that,â you tell her, but she simply shrugs her shoulders before coming even closer to you.
âTell me what you wanted to tell me,â she whispers and you shudder at the closeness of her lips against yours but you nod slowly, enjoying her smirk at your reaction.
âI love you Clarisse La Rue and I wanted to ask you if you would like to go on a date with me?â, you make sure that the words are said clearly, that there couldnât be a misunderstanding.
Clarisseâs lips melting against yours is the only answer you need, as she kisses you like you are the air she needs to breath. You quickly kiss her back, one hand cupping her cheek while the other grabs onto her curls making her moan softly.
âYou are going to be the death of me princess,â she whispers, breathless before bringing you into an even deeper kiss, her hands gripping your waist tightly.Â
âSo, I guess this is a, yes?â, you ask feeling like you are on cloud nine and as you feel her smile against your skin you know you donât even need her to answer.
âA million times yes,â she whispers against your skin, making you shiver, before continuing to drop soft kisses against your skin.
--
Life had been better ever since that night, Clarisse often joining you into your cabin and learning to live with Percy as the two of them slowly started liking each other more. There were still quests and monsters waiting for you but as you felt her strong arms holding you closer to her, you knew everything would be alright.
