in all honesty, i started this account as a silly little sideblog wayyy back in 2020, where i made one shitpost in january and then didn't use this blog again until april.
back then, this was a yujikiri-centred blog, and i would post literally anything that i thought people wanted to see from me. i was coming from another sao blog that had just over 10k followers (rest in scavenge toad meat spaghetti, never forgetti </3) and i thought that if i didn't get at least a thousand by the end of the year, i'd failed.
i had to take a break in march of 2021 after falling out with someone in my personal life that i'd met through the sao fandom. i felt sick even trying to make sao stuff, and this blog became sporadically-updated for the following year.
the first progressive movie came out in december of 2021, and i cosplayed asuna! my mother and i made the cosplay together, and i wore it to the movie! that's also the night i met one of my best friends, who helped me fall in love with sao and remember how fucking nice the good parts of the fandom can be.
by the time i came back in full swing in february 2022, you guys became SUCH an incredible force of love, appreciation and creative input. we had some incredible times that year, and it made coming back to sao feel so much lighter and less daunting. i started writing again, i started cosplaying again, i fell for sao again. thanks to you guys <3
in october of 2022, i got my elucidator tattoo! I've wanted to get it since i was 16, and then suddenly it was real and on my body, and i get to keep a piece of sao with me forever (and i will eventually be getting pitohui this year, too). what else happened in October 2022? well, taylor swift released midnights... oh! and i got surgery that very same day! i couldn't breathe for like 2 weeks, anything touching my chest made me gag, and post-op depression hit me like a tonne of bricks, but hoo boy did we get some high quality posts from it.
we had a good run in 2022 and again briefly in 2023 where i was probably one of the most popular sao blogs on here, from which joyous times we birthed spicy micheal (thanks to @sapphieissleepy <3) and then welcomed his lady friend and their spice rack. we were having so many discussions so often, it's to this day the most fun i've ever felt in this fandom (or any fandom) and i'm forever grateful for having the honour of it happening on my blog <3
in 2023, i started cosplaying... of... a different... variety... on a website... that's not youtube... and it's orange... and you guys have made me feel more fuckin grounded and normal through that than anything else lol. you guys keep me extremely grounded and grateful, and when you (lovingly and jokingly) poke fun at me, my awkwardness, or my weird horny Work Followers, it reminds me how lucky i am to have this space and my work space, because i get to experience the fandom in such different ways.
i changed my url last year! it was absolutely not under the best circumstances (still lowkey salty about the fact i even felt the need to lol) but it feels like a new era for the blog. this is the only url a lot of you have known me as! hi! hope you've enjoyed my small walk down memory lane for a second!
at some point in 2024, i made the decision that if someone is going to thirst over quinella (while ignoring her actions, or dismissing and diminishing what she had done to eugeo), then i was going to JOKINGLY AND SARCASTICALLY thirst over sugou. this ended predictably, and now in 2025, i have made a moodboard for our married life together and lana del rey was in my top artists in my spotify wrapped. oh dear.
there were also a lot of shitty things that happened (*cough cough* end of 2023 *cough cough*) that i don't want to mention here, but you guys have been so so extremely loving and wonderful, and you've made me genuinely thrilled to be alive. getting to talk to you guys is the highlight of my day sometimes.
in the five years since i made this blog, i've entirely changed as a person. i've gone from being a shy, reclusive loner who wrote fanfiction as a way to cope with stress isolation, and who never planned to make it to my 20s... to someone who loves waking up in the morning most days, who gets excited to go to the gym, who has made so many wonderful friends and connections through sao, who loves my job more than anything, and who has regular readers of my fanfics - something i could only dream of years ago.
and, for the people who followed me for ggo or sao abridged: welcome! this is a small taste of what happens here! i hope we'll get to make a whole lot more chaos together!
WE MADE IT

Ok the fact it’s come up a few times from these asks..felt like making a definitive List
the Top 10 Worst-Smelling Dragons of Florabrisa.
10. Ingot - She lives for the thrill of the hunt, so she often ends up dirty and sweaty and she only bathes a couple times a week at the most... She spent a lot of time in roaming mirror packs where bathing was a luxury haha
9. Nutshell - Dusty little man... dirty farmboy who also does not bathe enough. Masked by a peanut butter smell, but whether or not that’s good is up to you.
8. Ahavah - Ahavah has a very strong earthen scent. Like a moss-covered log. It’s not the worst smell in the world but it can definitely be overbearing, especially when it’s competing with the natural smell of his swampy home.
7. Squeak - Squeak smells like music festivals. Not good..not good at all.
6. Chiara - Like Ingot, but even worse. Chiara hunts and fights often, loves getting her fur dirty, and absolutely hates baths. Not a good combo for anyone with a nose.
5. Zaffre - Zaffre spends a lot of time in water and smells very strongly of fish. Very strongly...
4. Sorl - Sorl used to have a strict hygiene regimen, but since becoming a goopy, furry mess, she just has no idea what to do. She’s given in to the swamp smell.
3. Pitohui - Pitohui is always surrounded by birds. She smells like a chicken coop. It’s not great.
2. Malbraith - Even with guidance from Memphre, Malbraith prefers to ignore common hygienic guidelines. She is very proud of her swampy lifestyle and happily coats herself in all the swamp muck all the time. Memphre does all she can to keep their furniture reasonably clean dsfsd
1. Tildr - He’s the clan’s garbage man and absolutely relishes in working with trash. Has no qualms at all about getting dirty. Unlike most of the other dragons on this list, he actually tries really hard to not smell bad but. It’s just not working. The garbage smell has permanently permeated his fur.
Some noteable runners-up:
Swampy - he’s sort of a combo of Sorl and Tildr - goopy garbage bog. he just manages to be a lot cleaner!
Cherry - she gets honorable mention by virtue of hunting with Chiara and Ingot. But unlike them, she has no problems bathing regularly so she’s really not bad at all.
Falcata - He’s been noted for not bathing enough, but he doesn’t do anything to get particularly dirty. To get on the list, he’d have to try a little harder.
Floaf - Floaf quite likely would earn the top spot on the list actually. They’re a completely feral dragon living in the swamp with mangy fur and no hygiene standards at all. But no one has been able to get close enough to them to actually know what they smell like. Also them actually counting as part of Florabrisa is highly questionable at best.
#text post#florabrisa#loreabrisa#i dont think ill tag specific dragons haha but anyway hope you enjoyed this important info afdasfds#if you actually read everything thank you haha

I've done it. I've 100%ed affection for everyone, even the GGO side story characters. I won't spoil much for anyone watching or playing the game, but there's an interesting bit of background for Pitohui and she's my easy favorite of the four new people now.
Below will be kind of spoilers relating to the game. Some rants, as usual, but surprisingly some raves.
I fought a bullshit boss with a party of all healers now that I don't have to worry about affection. It was SO bullshit because this one boss is already a nightmare by himself, but then they throw in a mini boss when you get his health down low enough. TRY not to die from that, while the other guy is killing you, then kick his ass and- oh look! Two more of the same mini bosses to help him at the same time! I SCREAMED so much I was so mad because I beat the main guy, then his minibosses took me out and I had to redo the entire thing. Luckily I glitched out his last segment the last time and didn't have to fight those guys. The next... idk, 3 or 4 bosses? Definitely not as tough. Even the Flugel guy was child's play compared to it.
Then the story starts taking all sorts of weird turns. Good weird. I'm definitely intrigued by Itsuki because I had been convinced he was Death Gun, but it can't be if he's never been in SAO. Still, he pulled something that I WISH I could have my character either say something about or punch him or something. Then he created drama within the harem and suddenly I'm down 3 party members. I'm glad romancing isn't an option now because Kureha just... that was such a childish move. It's human! Don't get me wrong, but I definitely don't feel guilty if I had to choose Zeliska over her.
Speaking of romance, you know what's weird? Out of the mc's dateable friends (9 last I counted), 4 outright essentially admit their feelings for them. I don't count Zeliska because she's more of the flirty type. I barely count Strea because I'm very sure she loves everyone, and Rei may or may not mean she loves you in the platonic way. However Premier straight up describes her feelings (to which our stupid protagonist doesn't understand) and Rain literally tells him "I love you!" several times. Like in the message subject, twice in the message itself, kind of indirectly with her song to them, like god damn get on her level, y'all. It's a shame we can't really do much beyond the bed scenes, same with Philia.
However I will still be forever miffed at not being able to romance Lizbeth or some of the others. Yuki I'm pretty sure kind of hints to some crush, but you can't go beyond that. Not to mention with how much everyone says you're a lot like Kirito, I would have thought that either Silica, Lizbeth, or at the very least Leafa would hop on that train. Like come on Leafa, this is exactly what you thought you had in the Fairy Dance Arc before things got double incesty.
Not like it really matters anyway since all of this is just typical harem shenanigans and the mc, despite being us and a custom character we imprint onto, plays his role as a harem protagonist to a T. There's "romance" in the sense that people get all flustered over you and can go on dates, but nothing committal or even anything that affects the story other than what's required for the true end. It's sad but I'm already predicting that the next game (probably based on Ordinal Scale) will either do away with this guy or pretend it never happened if Dimps somehow DBXV2's this.
Anyway, the side stuff for the characters has been challenging to get but mostly good, especially Agil and Klein's side stuff. However it's so good to finally be back in the story and things are getting a lot more dark in tone now that happy friendship time is finally over. I'm calling it now, Itsuki is going to try and pull a Kayaba in GGO.
But that'll have to wait for Kirito mode. I really hated the gun and sword but I guess we do what we gotta do. I sincerely hope that my character isn't just pushed to the side for Kirito and Sinon's spotlight, but at the very least it is my favorite arc of SAO so I'll give it that. Apparently I have to look for an item anyway to get the true end so hopefully that won't be a hassle.
So far I'm giving the overall experience a 6.5. That could change depending on the story and where it goes from here. However as great as the graphics and gameplay are for me, I'm starting to hit lag and game crashes. It probably runs better on the PS4 PRO verses my regular, but that's still saddening for me. However the saving grace is the oc and the newer characters, and basically getting to pretend you're a pimp for a few hours before realizing Bazalt Joe will never return your feelings.
I am very tempted to lift elements of GGO and my character, Ten, and create my own story. I already have an idea for it too that combines elements of .hack gu and SAO/GGO with a bit of other bullshit sprinkled in. That way Ten can be as cool as I want him to be and not at all be under the false choice persona the game gives you.
Blogging over.

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online: 4th Squad Jam: Start
By Keiichi Sigsawa and Kouhaku Kuroboshi, based on the series created by Reki Kawahara. Released in Japan by Dengeki Bunko. Released in North America by Yen On. Translated by Stephen Paul.
This book was always going to have a tough time living up to the previous one,k and let’s face it: it does not. It’s a pretty good book, especially in the back half once the game starts, but it does show off the big flaw with this series as opposed to its parent: Sigsawa is not as good at writing Karen, Elza, etc. as he is at writing Llenn and Pitohui. He’s here for the gun battles, and all else is secondary (leaving aside the last book, which feels like an aberration at this point). As a result, when we see something that is a huge threat to Karen in this book, it doesn’t really come off as well, because we’re far more familiar with the fast pink blur whose ideal man is her gun (no, literally, she says that here) than the tall awkward rich girl. Things are not helped either by the presence of one of my least favorite Kawahara traits, now borrowed by this author as well: the smug villain who wants the girl to submit to him.
As noted, Karen is at an event her dad is attending, trying to be a wallflower, when she meets a short, fat man who tries to commiserate with her about height. They converse, he leaves, all is good. Then she gets a marriage proposal, which her dad suggests she accept. While this is going on, there’s a new Squad Jam starting. Four people is a bit small, so this time around Pitohui grabs Clarence and Shirley to fill their ranks – though Shirley wants no part of this, really. There are two big problems with this Squad Jam, at least in this first book. The first is that we have added zombie monsters, who are attracted when one of their number is killed by gunfire. The second is that Karen’s wannabe fiancee has shown up in the game – his avatar is just as wish fulfilling for him as hers is for her – and, using her real name, demands that if he beats her she has to go out with him.
So yeah, another smug guy who wants to control the woman he desires in a Sword Art Online book, yay. He doesn’t show up in the back half, fortunately, so I will put off my grumpiness till later. As I said, the back half of the story is better, and I always enjoy seeing how different the teams in the game are to their real-life personalities – Llenn’s team gets waylaid by literal suicide bombers in the Jam, who pose quite a problem, but seeing what they’re really like made it more amusing than anything else. Our team shows off good teamwork as well – minus Shirley, who cannot let go of her grudge towards Pitohui (who, to be fair, fuels it) and Clarence, who is a big goofball and not much else, frankly. And then there’s Llenn’s constant effort to finally have a showdown with SHINC, which – no surprises – gets derailed by the cliffhanger, showing, I suppose, that money can’t buy happiness, but it comes close.
So it’s a setup book where I’m not that fond of the setup. Still, Sigsawa knows how to write his gun battles. And this one is a 3-book arc, so I’d better settle in.

ECOCORE The Queer Issue

cover 1: Exene Karros @donaldtrompeloeil

cover 2: Andrej Dubravsky @andrej_dubravsky

cover 3: Caspar Jade Heinemann @angstravaganza
ECOCORE is proud to announce issue 6, an online only issue dedicated to queer strategies in nature. Following the US withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement it is urgent to find new approaches to ecology and environmentalism. Starting today @ blog.ecocore.co
Queerness is not yet here. Queerness is an ideality. Put another way, we are not yet queer. We may never touch queerness, but we can feel it as the warm illumination of a horizon imbued with potentiality. We have never been queer, yet queerness exists for us as an ideality that can be distilled from the past and used to imagine a future. -José Esteban Muñoz, Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity Ecocore’s sixth issue, The Queer Issue, guest edited by The Institute of Queer Ecology (IQECO), operates at the intersection of queer and environmental discourse, with a mission to improve both fields. Each movement, perpetually evolving though not fast enough, benefits from being in conversation with the other. Yesterday I found myself at one of the last shows of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, in Providence, Rhode Island. I had just left a meeting with two other members of IQECO, where we discussed the types of invisible labor being done by plankton (plus other microbial Foundation Species) and queer (human) communities. When I arrived at the circus, then, I found myself still burdened with criticality. When the lights went out and spotlights hit a cage in the center of the arena, 12 tigers were sitting on stools and I braced myself for an unnerving show. A large man with dueling whips lashed the tigers, ordering the cats to jump, roar, stand, and move about. I sank lower into my chair, feeling rather microbial as a crowd of thousands clapped and screamed in excitement at the spectacle of human supremacy. Earlier, as the National Anthem had boomed, a lesbian couple sat down next to me and I let out a sigh of relief. The three of us would form an instant unspoken alliance for the next 3 hours, silently critiquing the The Greatest Show on Earth. So when the 12 tigers began leaping in fear of a man who commanded them and the audience into a frenzy, I looked towards my newfound queer sisters. I was disappointed to see that they too were cheering, hand in hand. I lay out this anecdote to highlight the dangerous rift still standing between queer and environmental justice. I expected the couple next to me to naturally align themselves with the subjugated tigers, rather than with oppressive man. But as critical conversations about ecology and queerness are still far from the mainstream, this way of thinking takes time and dedication. Eventually, I believe it will prove incredibly helpful for both the lgbt+ community and the natural world. This new alignment allows queer individuals to find kin with any oppressed species, many of which are queerer than we imagined. While tigers have not yet been observed to engage in homosexual behavior, at least another 1,500 species have, including lions, where homosexual and trans individuals have been recorded. Our simplified collective understanding of human gender and sexuality collapses on itself when we are confronted by a fungus with 28,000 sexes. Catriona Sandilands states (while discussing the works of Elizabeth Wilson and Myra Hird) that “nonhuman sexual and gender diversity both calls into question human exceptionalism and destabilizes notions of identity, authenticity, and technology on which modern categories of human sexual orientation rest.” The research is overwhelming and powerful, as exemplified by the enduring influence of Bruce Bagemihl’s seminal text, Biological Exuberance. Bagemihl’s book about animals with homosexual tendencies was used as evidence by the American Psychiatric Association before the US Supreme Court in Lawrence v. Texas, a case that ultimately struck down sodomy laws in 14 states. The Queer Issue presents IQECO’s inaugural attempt to present a sliver of this growing body of research, as well as works by artists that consider this hybridized way of thinking. The Queer Issue is assembled eclectically, with republished texts by Bruce Bagemihl that have heavily influenced the field, as well as original commissions for the occasion of this issue. Liby Hays will present a collection of four poems from the perspective of a Trans Termite Queen. Briohny Walker will contribute a new paper on an ethics of failure and futurelessness. Greta Skagerlind invites you to contribute to their ever-growing in-flux definition of Queer Design Principles via a collaborative google doc. Ryan Hammond will talk about their ongoing work, Open Source Gender Codes, which attempts to queer current regimes of pharmaceutical production and systems of ownership by producing open source hormone production protocols. Ecocore and IQECO welcome you to The Queer Issue. Edited by Lee Pivnik for the Institute of Queer Ecology Bruce Bagemihl Urban Barnyard Alessandro Bava Andrej Dubravsky Ryan Hammond Liby Hays Caspar Heinemann Alex Ju Exene Karros Les U. Knight / VHEMT Lee Pivnik Isabella Rossellini Jack Schneider Greta Skagerlind Briohny Walker Additionally, we would like to out our non-human contributors. The following is a list of animals that have been recorded exhibiting either homosexual or transgender behavior, assembled by Bagemihl in his 1999 publishing of Biological Exuberance. It's Spring Break Time and We’ve Got 10 Great Bingeable Anime to Watch!
The middle of March is a magical time; the season of Winter officially comes to a close, and Spring arrives with warmer temperatures, nature’s renewal, and for those of you lucky to enjoy it, Spring Break! But what do you want to do with your week off from responsibilities? Well, whether you’re hitting the beach or staying home, I've got 10 great shows for you to binge-watch wherever you’re relaxing.
Whether you’re looking for suspense and mystery or action and comedy, this list of shows has a variety of choices to meet any taste or mood, and the shows on my list are no longer than 26 episodes, making them perfect for marathon sessions. So without keeping you from your Spring vacay any longer, let’s get on with the list, starting with an honorable mention!
Honorable Mention: The Promised Neverland
Now, if this list were compiled in a few weeks, this title would have easily made it on to the top ten, but as of right now the show isn’t complete, so I felt it wasn’t quite right to include it in our selection. That said, if you were to start watching it this week, you could be well prepared to see what’s coming up in the nail biting final episodes! I won’t spoil it for you, but I will say that The Promised Neverland is perfectly suited for binge-watching, as you’ll want to know what’s happening next after every episode. This suspenseful show really cranks the dial on anxiety inducing moments of double crosses and intrigue, and every episode ends on just the right moment to make you want to stay put and see what’s coming next. Depending on when your break might actually start, you could even luck out and get to binge the whole series! But, as it stands, I heartily recommend this title for binge-watching, but just know that you’ll likely end up in the same seat I'm in: desperately waiting for new episodes!
10) The Lost Village
Yeah, yeah, I know what some of you are thinking, but I wanted to include this show because it's an absolutely bonkers gem of a show that’s addicting to keep watching. I’ll give you a few things to think about before you decide to watch this show, however: the anime community is pretty divided on whether this show is a comedy or not, and honestly, I think you’ll probably enjoy it best if you treat it as a comedy that takes itself absolutely, 100% seriously at all times. The Lost Village has some of the most bizarre character moments in recent memory, and the episodes will keep leaving you on cliffhangers that are going to make you want to know what’s going to happen next as things keep spiraling out of control and reality at a breakneck pace. As a bit of personal honesty, I don’t think I could ever watch this show again in a non-binge-watch format, just because of how ridiculous and hilarious it was to see the first time around. Just remember: have fun with this show, and it’ll be a blast!
9) El-Hazard, The Wanderers
First on my list is a classic blast from the past title, El-Hazard! Whisked away to the magical land of El-Hazard, protagonist Makoto finds himself quickly embroiled with kingdoms under conflict. El-Hazard is a fun watch from the late 90s, directed by Hiroki Hayashi, famous for his work on other classics like Tenchi Muyo and Bubblegum Crisis among many others. I personally like El-Hazard because of the fun characters that pop up in this somewhat hidden gem, with antagonist Jinnai really stealing the show. While the stakes are occasionally reported to be high during the show’s plot, the overall tone of the series is one of fun whimsy and situational comedy. The Wanderers is a rework of an OVA series from the same series, and takes some different avenues in telling its version of the story; if you’ve only seen one, check out the other! I heartily recommend El-Hazard as a fun blast to the past of the late 90s style of romantic action adventure comedies, and you won’t regret a single moment of your stay in this magical world!
8) Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
This next title takes us to the same universe as Sword Art Online, but focuses on completely unrelated characters and a very different approach to the series premise. Instead of an MMORPG, Gun Gale Online follows characters engaged with an online shooter, specifically following the very pink and very deadly LLEN and her trusty partner (read: gun) P90, named P-chan. LLEN is in real life a tall woman named Karen Kohiruimaki, who escapes to the world of Gun Gale Online as a way of coping with her complex about her tall height in the real world. Unlike the Sword Art Online series, Gun Gale Online is less of an isekai series and more of a gaming oriented one, following the relationships and battles that LLEN/Karen meet and engage with during playing Gun Gale Online. Even if you aren’t a big fan of isekai series or Sword Art Online in general, I heartily recommend Gun Gale Online for a unique take on gaming in anime, as well as a series that keeps you wanting more as the relationship between LLEN and Pitohui become ever more intertwined as the gunplay action increases… after all, only one person can truly be number one!
7) Cells at Work!
Now, it may seem odd to recommend a series that wants to teach you about your body during spring break, when you’re likely trying to avoid studying, but wait! Cells at Work is a fun, relaxing ride that builds some unique and heartwarming characters out of the cells that make up your body’s functions. Even putting the medical information to the side (which, by the way, is great and informative!) you’ll find a lot of fun interactions as the cast of varied characters deal with various bodily emergencies from the cellular level. Cells at Work is somewhat unique in how easy and relaxing it is to watch, where even the most dire medical or physical circumstances can be dealt with in a way that leaves you satisfied and happy. There is a lot to love here in this show, and it’s a very easy one to while away a lazy vacation day watching; I'm pretty sure you’ll fall in love with the cells hard at work in your body as well, so maybe treat them to some good food while you binge!
6) Hinamatsuri
Hinamatsuri is probably one of the best shows of last year, combining an amazing mixture of heartfelt emotion and off the wall comedy for a magical cocktail of fun. Hinamatsuri follows the character Nitta Yoshifumi, a yakuza who finds himself suddenly in the role of caretaker to a mysterious girl, Hina, who has amazing psychic powers… and pretty much nothing else. The misfits that make up Hina’s new found family and friends lead to some of the best laughs you’ll likely have while watching anime, and the touching, emotional arcs in the show hit home to the point that you may want to grab some tissues in between bathroom and snack breaks. Comedies are sometimes hard to recommend for binge-watching, since you can run into diminishing returns, but the mixture of storylines and unique characters will make the show constantly feel fresh and enjoyable. Hinamatsuri is a real treat, and while we can only hope for a second season sometime down the line, what is here is amazing, and we guarantee that it’s well worth your valuable binge-watching time to check out; just make sure you don’t laugh too hard!
5) Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World-
Isekai stories are quite popular these days, but if you are looking to veg out on the couch and really digest something in one go, Re:ZERO is a great choice filled with dramatic cliffhangers, magical action, and lots of emotional moments to make you want to smash ‘play next episode’ on your player! Natsuki Subaru finds himself suddenly transported to another world, but he seems to lack any real abilities at first glance; he doesn’t seem to be gifted any feats of strength, magical abilities, or anything special, and his life in this new world seems almost miserable at first. As Subaru works to find his place in this magical world (and the truth about what his abilities actually are), he meets a cast of varied and wonderful characters that help flesh out this unique world. If you’ve not given this show a chance, or never tried an isekai show before, Re:ZERO is a great place to start, and an even better place to marathon every episode; trust us, when you get about halfway through, you’re going to find yourself wanting to know what is going to happen next!
4) MEGALOBOX
Rounding out our top 5 is another sports show, this time taking the sport of boxing to a new level: MEGALOBOXing, to be exact! Celebrating the 50th anniversary of anime and manga classic Ashita no Joe, MEGALOBOX exploded onto the scene with amazing fights, but even more amazing character development. Following Junk Dog “Joe” through his attempt to make it to the top of the megaloboxing world, this show has heartstopping action and dramatic tension in spades. The slick animation and character designs really help give this show a gritty, adult flavor, and watching it all in one go makes for a wild ride that’ll leave you about as breathless as a few rounds in the ring might! Recently airing on Toonami, if you want a chance to watch the whole show in a single sitting on your break, we’ve got it right here for you! And make sure you never skip the ending (you don’t do that, right?) because MEGALOBOX has one of the best ending songs in recent memory. You can’t go wrong with this show, and I'm sure you’ll love marathoning it as much as I do.
3) Angels of Death
Based on a video game of the same name, Angels of Death hit the ground running last year with its macabre and dark mystery series. Following the oddly emotionless Rachel Gardener and violent (but precious) Zack, this series is filled with death games, hidden truths, and as many twists and turns as it has episodes! If you consider yourself a fan of suspenseful or dark shows, Angels of Death is a must, but even if you’re remotely curious, I absolutely think this is one of the best shows to spend a day watching. Once the show starts to hit its stride, you’ll be left wanting answers, only to find yourself getting more questions. I personally can’t even remember how many times I yelled “Are you kidding me?!” at the screen while this was airing, and now you can do the same, with the added benefit of not needing to wait a whole week for an answer! This small cast show makes sure that every character leaves a big impact, and the overall production on the show really shines through, from amazing visuals to great voice acting (Zack especially!). Angels of Death is an amazing show, but it's an even better marathon target, so dim the lights, grab some snacks, and get ready to let the mystery and suspense of Angels of Death wrap its arms around you and not let go!
2) Golden Kamuy
Some of the best binge-worthy shows are the ones that make you not only care to see what happens next, but present things in interesting, unique ways. Golden Kamuy is one of those shows, packing a historical period drama into a heist plot, mixed with cooking and comedy to produce one of the most memorable and bingeable shows in recent memory. Having recently finished up its second season, it's a perfect time to either start watching the show (you weren’t already?!) or start it over again to see what you missed the first time through! The characters in Golden Kamuy are really what bring the show to life, so if you enjoy shows that have unique and interesting casts, you’ll find that here, especially in the Golden Trio of Immortal Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Escape King Shiraishi! As they hunt down the Abashiri convicts for their tattoos in order to find the lost Ainu gold, Sugimoto and Asirpa encounter a bevy of unique and weird individuals, countless twists and turns, and bloody, visceral violence. There are few shows that have everything, and Golden Kamuy is absolutely a feast of a show! Hinna Hinna!
1) Toradora!
Our number 1 spot goes to this classic anime that celebrated its 10th anniversary last year: Toradora! Perhaps one of the best romantic comedy/dramas ever made, Toradora! is an amazing watch the whole way through even today; in fact, its probably even better than it was when it first came out, now that you can watch it all in one go. Toradora! has everything you want in a classic show: good characters, solid plot, pacing, voice acting, and animation quality. But what makes it even better to watch in one go is the way it sucks you into the lives of its characters, making you deeply care not just about Ryuji and Taiga, but Minori, Yusaku, and Ami too. By the end of the show, you’ll probably be tearing up like I did back then, but don’t worry, you don’t need to wait weeks or more to see what happens! You can watch it all right now! If you’ve ever been curious to find out what the buzz about Toradora! always was, or just want a great show to watch (or even rewatch!) I can’t recommend Toradora! enough for our binge list. I promise that you’ll fall in love (or fall back in love) with this amazing show from the comfort of your couch or beach chair while soaking up the joy of Spring Break… after all, Spring is the time for renewal and love, right?
Now you're all set for your Spring Break! I hope this will help you find some new anime to love, or maybe some old flames to rekindle, as the lazy days of spring break let you relax. And even if you don’t get a spring break for yourself, next time you’re thinking “maybe we’ll do an anime marathon day!”, I hope this list can give you some great suggestions! Either way, I'm gonna go kick up my feet, enjoy the comfortable weather, and start going back through the list… After all, you don’t really need an official break to binge anime, right?
Got any shows that you'd add to this list? Any anime you plan to binge-watch during your break? Let us know in the comments!

Why the New Sword Art Online Anime is Going to Rule
The spring 2018 anime season is officially here, which means there's one thing on the minds of Sword Art Online fans… Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online! While we may have to wait until October for season 3 proper, but there are plenty of reasons to get ULTRA HYPE about this gunslingin' spinoff. With the premiere right around the corner, here are some of the features that have us itching to dive back into the virtual world of GGO.
The Author of Kino's Journey Wrote the Novel
Keiichi Sigsawa is a one-of-a-kind talent, as evidenced by his source material that powers the wonderful Kino's Journey anime adaptations. He's also responsible for the novel on which the SAO Alternative anime is based, which should speak volumes about its storytelling capabilities. Beyond the caliber of Sigsawa's writing, it'll just be nice to see Sword Art Online from a different perspective.
If you're still not sure about how Sigsawa's approach to the subject matter might veer from what we've seen in the past, he briefly touched on this during his panel at last summer's Crunchyroll Expo. Sigsawa said, "In the original Sword Art Online novels, there wasn't too much of a gap between the people in real life and their avatars in the game. I wanted to create a bigger gap so it could be differentiated from the main series."
That already rings true in what we've seen from LLENN (voiced by Tomori Kusunoki) and Pitohui (Yoko Hikasa) thus far. LLENN is short and feisty, but she isn't of the same mindset (nor height) in GGO as she is in real life. Her friend Pitohui is a veteran of the game, but she has more mystery behind her than your average SAO character. Half the fun of the show will be getting a chance to see the dynamic between these two and how they mesh with the rest of the anime's cast.
Gun Gale Online Was the Best Part of Sword Art Online II
Opinions may vary depending on who you ask, but for my money, Sword Art Online is at its absolute best when the stakes are sky-high. That certainly applied to the first season, and the intensity carried over to the first half of Sword Art Online II. It wasn't just the looming specter of Death Gun that made the 14-episode take on the Phantom Bullet arc so compelling, though. The world of Gun Gale Online is just wildly different from that of Sword Art Online or Alfheim Online. According to what we've seen in the anime, at least, gameplay revolves more around highly-publicized survival competitions rather than your average MMO-friendly bullet-pointed quests and sidequests.
Compare this to the Calibur and Mother's Rosario arcs that followed. The former was about as close to watching a Let's Play on YouTube as possible. As fun as it was seeing Kirito and friends team up to claim Excaliber and ostensibly save the virtual world from changing forever, it was also kind of like watching someone else's high-level raid. Narratively speaking, most of those episodes are empty calories. Mother's Rosario had some memorable moments and closed the second season out on a touching note, but nothing quite reached the week-to-week excitement of Phantom Bullet.
When Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online novels first came out in 2009, the traditional MMO was a more novel setting for an all-or-nothing death game. In 2018, Gun Gale Online actually seems like the more relevant showcase for what is otherwise a premise as timeless as Captain N: The Game Master. From Playerunknown's Battlegrounds to Fortnite, online survival shooters are white hot right now, and GGO fits in nicely even when the switch isn't set to "You Die in Real Life."
Kirito Gets a Break
Look, Kirito is fine and all, but he could probably use a little break from being the de facto face of Sword Art Online. This is an expansive world full of characters with plenty of potential, and Bell Cranel—I mean Kirito—is just one face among millions. Kirito is one of those flawless viewer-insert power fantasy characters that's at his best when others are playing off him, and we'll get to see plenty more of that in action when Sword Art Online season 3 debuts.
For now, though, it's all about LLENN! I recently had the opportunity to speak with voice actress (and theme song performer) Tomori Kusunoki, and while you'll have to wait until the next issue of Otaku USA spinoff magazine Anime USA for the full interview, I'll share a snippet concerning Kusunoki's thoughts on LLENN.
Here's what Kusonoki had to say when I asked about her general impression of the character:
"In the beginning, there were a lot of teary-eyed illustrations of her, so I was under the impression that she was a scaredy-cat but also resilient. But now, I see her as more combative and savage, which is the complete opposite of the real world version of herself. She’s always charging ahead and pushing forward in her thinking and in her actions. I find that part about her to be so adorable! That gap between her personalities is irresistible!"
Again, this seems to fall in line nicely with what author Keiichi Sigsawa said about what makes SAO Alternative's characters special. Whatever ends up going down in Gun Gale Online this time around, I can't wait to follow it as it happens and see how they grow and evolve over the course of the series.
Have you been watching Sword Art Online since the beginning, or will this be your first time digging into the series? Either way, let us know what has you pumped for Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online!
