imagine every month a group of delinquents jump you in the alley and beat the shit out of you and rob you.

you call your parents and they say this is completely normal and you can't do anything about it. you see the same happen to some poor kid. she is told to brush it off.

you tell your hairdresser you're going to call the police on them next time. she looks at you like you're insane. 'but if you call the cops on them now, someone in the future might be too scared to strap a c4 to your chest!' you don't know why you'd want someone to strap a bomb to you. everyone else seems to

you finally manage to call the police despite all the anxieties about what everyone said. you ask if they could do something about it. they tell you that you are such a young person and you shouldn't give away the opportunity to get a bomb strapped to your chest. you still are confused why people want that. they tell you if you get someone who wants to strap a bomb to you to say he doesn't actually want to do that AND a written consent from your parent AND a written consent from the government MAYBE they will arrest them.

you put down the phone disappointed. you grab a baseball bat for next time you walk down the alley.
