Excuse me for the easy question but I just wanted clarity on the terminology so I can help a work colleague find the proper instructions. She recently set up a Squarespace account, and has her custom domain forward to it. So when you visit HerXYZOrganization.org it forwards to her actual Squarespace website, which is something like apple-lettuce-qrft.squarespace.com. Is that Squarespace’s default naming scheme if you don’t choose a sub-domain?

In addition to letting her know that she can likely choose a Squarespace subdomain, like HerXYZOrganization.squarespace.com, I’m wondering what the phrase is for when you visit HerXYZOrganization.org and it connects to the Squarespace-hosted website but always shows the HerXYZOrganization.org/whateverpage as the URL. I think this involves DNS forwarding but I’ll leave it to the experts to correct me, whether it’s a how-to article with her domain registrar account (Google Domains), the relevant entry on the Squarespace FAQs, or an explanation here regardless of company.
