“I couldn’t, my diamond.” A quartz like her fusing with a diamond? It simply wasn’t done. It would be wrong. Her arms folded across her chest as she glanced away, cheeks barely flushed. “You deserve a better Gem to fuse with. Someone worthy of your time.”

Not the quartz who’d failed to protect her.

                    “   EXCELLENT   WORK,   pink.   ”   she   scans   rapidly   over   the   information   presented   on   the   panel   before   her,   narrowing   in   concentration.   “   keep   this   up,   &&   you   will   have   a   fine   first   colony.   ”   her   golden   gaze   is   slow   to   turn   towards   the   smaller   diamond,   but   when   it   does,   she   gives   a   small   nod   of   approval.   “   —-   but   what   are   you   doing   about   the   organics   on   your   EARTH?   ”   it   takes   no   stretch   of   the   imagination   to   see   the   other   utterly   infatuated   with   the   humans;   she   has   such   a   soft   spot   for   lesser   lifeforms,   much   to   her   fellow   diamonds���   chagrin.

                “   a   word   of   advice   on   invasions   —-   fast   is   fine,   but   accurate   is   final.   ”

It was complicated. And she wouldn’t know how she could possibly explain it to Pink Diamond. White, Blue and Yellow all understood now: Stevie was from a different reality, and in her toying around with different universes, she found herself currently trapped in this one. So she decided to help Steven resurrect Pink Diamond, and currently, Stevie was living on Homeworld, helping with various things now that the Diamond Empire was changing. While this Steven was conflicted about the whole thing, he was significantly less so than his alternate counterpart. In his reality, Pink Diamond was just a diamond who tried invading earth, who his mother shattered, and now she was being brought back. Stevie’s past was different. In her reality, Pink Diamond was Rose Quartz, they were one person, and there had been so much confusion, deception and lies, along with a lifetime of paying for both the actions of Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond. 

But Stevie wouldn’t put that on Pink. She knew too well how awful it was to be blamed for things you didn’t do. There were still certain things, however, that Pink did do all on her own. Like what she did to Spinel. And yet, there was another part of her that felt a certain attachment to Pink Diamond. Stevie supposed that it was this attachment that allowed herself to go along with this resurrection. 

Even if it wasn’t really her mother, it was the closest she would probably ever get to meeting her. She could ask Pink questions about herself, get to know what maybe her real mother was like. But Stevie would tell herself over and over like a mantra; this isn’t the Pink Diamond from your reality. This isn’t Rose Quartz. 

Though she would have a hard time explaining to Pink how she possessed versions of all her diamond powers. She was Rose Quartz’s daughter like Steven, yet unlike Steven, she was also a diamond. The gem in her belly button wasn’t a quartz, it only sort of looked like one because it was turned. Upon close inspection, one could tell that it was, in fact, a pink diamond. It wouldn’t make sense at first, she figured. But if White, Blue and Yellow could understand after some time, then so could Pink.

Pink had talked to White, Blue, Yellow and now Steven. She was probably overwhelmed. She decided to wait. Let Pink come to her instead of bombarding her with yet another person with information about her shattering, how she was back, what happened, etc.

“I told her about you when we talked.” Steven had told her as they sat in one of the many rooms this Homeworld castle had. “Not much. Just that you’re Rose Quartz’s daughter. I didn’t tell her about the diamond stuff. Or the alternate reality stuff. But I told her you guys could meet in the main hall if she wanted to talk.” So sitting in the main hall, alone now, she waited. Stevie sat at a table. She napped for a bit at one point, though it wasn’t for long; she was too anxious to really relax. Wide awake now, she wondered when or even if Pink Diamond would walk through.

       it – it had worked. 

  staring up at the newly formed diamond, steven’s mouth was open in his awe, his eyes shining like stars. his mother’s greatest crime – brought back– and with this sort of technology..? shattered gems able to be REVIVED? no longer stuck in their shattered form? it seemed.. too good to be true. still, his heart jumped in his chest, and he rubbed at his arm, somewhat nervous.

"I know. I'm sorry." pinkcrowned for blue

she almost didn’t even hear Pink, clutching to her own gem in her frustrations. Yellow could be so stubborn some times. so brash and so electric that nearly nothing could change her mind once she decided to strike a target no matter what that target may be. but to be so caught up in herself that she wouldn’t even let Pink sit by and watch? to push Pink away when all she was trying to do was learn and start doing what she was supposed to as a diamond? how could Yellow have punished her for that! how could Yellow have been insulted by Pink just wanting to be near her! why was it always so hard for Yellow to just let others in. letting herself wallow in her own anger for just a bit longer before sighing. her features softening as she registered the sad apology from her darling little diamond. teal blue eyes falling to Pink as she released her gem and instead gently lifted Pink up to see her better. to raise her up both physically and emotionally.

“ oh Pink... it isn’t your fault. you are just curious and want to know so much more about our worlds. you are eager to start making your own marks and help our civilization to grow how could anyone be upset with that? Yellow... “ she sighed again, trying to find the words that would explain it just right without bringing more pain. taking a pause to nuzzle Pink close in hopes of bringing more comfort to her before pulling away again to continue. “ Yellow is just anxious. she is a lot like you in a way, so anxious and so eager to make sure Homeworld continues to expand. to please White... well, she gets so excited that she forgets sometimes to take others into consideration...” her eyes sparkled brightly as she got an idea, lifting Pink just a bit higher as she smiled wider. “ oh! I think I know what can cheer you up. how about you help me work on one of my colonies! “
