“Alaska” by Pinegrove (Cover)
I first saw Pinegrove open for Kevin Devine at Irving Plaza in NYC some years ago. I had won the tickets through my college radio station at that time (WMSC at Montclair State University), and was strongly encouraged by a friend and fellow classmate to get there for the openers, ESPECIALLY Pinegrove. I was somewhat aware of the band, but had never listened. I knew they were based in Montclair. I…

Unspoken Love: The Meeting
Nanami Kento x Reader
Three part series, post Shibuya where our Nanami survives!
Next: One Year Later
(Song Inspiration: Need 2 by Pinegrove)
“Nanamin, how are you doing?” Yuji asked when he walked inside the library. Nanami sat there reading the daily newspaper. Once he heard Yuji, he looked up and softly smiled.
“I should be asking you that,” he said when he put the paper down. Yuji slightly blushed and took a seat next to him. “I’m doing better.” Yuji warily looked at him but the soft look in Nanami’s eye and smile was convincing enough for the teenage boy. “And you?”
“I’m still worried about Kugisaki-san,” Yuji said. “But they say that her chances of survival is getting higher.”
“Fushiguro-kun?”
“He’s recovered.” Nanami nodded, glad to hear that the students are okay.
“How about Maki-san?”
“Great! Her scars are pretty cool like yours.” Yuji suddenly covered his mouth. He hoped that he didn’t offend Nanami in any way. Nanami couldn’t help but smile at the young boy. Yuji rested his hands on his lap, his body relaxing. “Oh, I got you something.” Yuji pulled out a small box out of his sweater pocket. Nanami thanked him and unwrapped the gift. It was a new eye patch. The material was softer, something that he desperately needed.
“Thank you, Itadori-kun,” he said softly and replaced it with the old one. Nanami felt relief. It felt better around his head.
“I’m glad you survived, Nanamin.”
“Thank you for saving me, Itadori-kun.” Content silence filled the air. Nanami grabbed his paper and started reading again while Yuji played on his phone.
Yuji waved at Nanami happily when he announced his departure when the clock struck 5PM. He hoped his favorite bread was in stock at this hour. He thought maybe he could stop at the store to gather some ingredients for tonight’s dinner.
Despite his better mood, he is still conscious about his body. The scars visible on his face is still a big change in his life. He never expected to care much about his appearance. He never understood why he started to care about it now. But as time passed, his anxiety eased and his mood became better.
He walked inside, the smell of freshly baked bread filling the air. He felt more content. He was happy that he was able to find this unique cafe/bakery. A cafe filled with fresh pastries and bread along with delicious drinks. Tables spread around with book shelves wrapped around the walls.
Nanami went over to the shelves, hoping to find a new book of interest to borrow. Even though he was reading title after title, he was distracted from the soft sounds of someone jumping. When he looked up, he watched you struggle reaching for a book on the top shelf.
He didn’t know what came over him. His body had a mind of its own as he walked over to you instead of walking away. He paid attention to the book that you were so close to reaching but never achieving. When you watched someone’s arm reach out for the book, you smiled.
“Thank you!” you said happily. You turned around. Sudden butterflies fluttering in your stomach when you looked at him. The book remained in his hand, his arm still out to hand it to you. You didn’t want to move though. Once you took the book, he would leave. And you didn’t want him to.
“Your book,” Nanami said, bringing the book closer to you to grab. His voice brought you out in the trance that you were trapped in. You nodded and slowly took it. A small gasp escaped your lips. It was just a small brush against his fingers yet there was this intensity that you felt.
“Th-Thank you,” you mumbled shyly. You felt your cheeks warm up. You wondered if you were blushing. If you were, was it evident on your face? And the big question was, did he feel that intensity too? You have a feeling he did, based on how his eyes slightly widened for a fraction of a second. But you didn’t want to assume.
When Nanami raised an eyebrow, you assumed he didn’t. You just thought that maybe today was just an off day for you. Besides, you did work overnight shifts and you did sleep for four hours after a consecutive fourth night of work.
“Studying to become a doctor?” he asked after noticing the book he grabbed for you.
“N-Nurse,” you corrected. You watched him nod. Silence consumed you two. Neither of you didn’t feel like walking away. Despite Nanami’s nerves and insecurities, he wanted to stay longer.
Needed to stay longer.
“Would you like to have some tea with me? Or coffee, um…” You ended up introducing yourself, the book hugged against your chest. Nanami bowed in response.
“Nanami Kento,” he said.
His heart is still racing. He never thought it would race this fast for this long. The smile on your face left him in so much shock. He was impressed himself that he was able to hide his nerves. He was even surprised that he didn’t walk away even though he was worried that you would look at him with some sort of disgust. But the look in your eyes says otherwise. Beautiful eyes that made him mesmerized.
“I-If you change your mind, I’m at the corner over there,” you informed as you scanned the area. It was slightly crowded at this point, every table filled up with customers. You pointed at the one empty table and Nanami noticed it being cluttered with your laptop, IPad, textbooks, papers, and stationery materials. With his long silence, you looked back and felt embarrassed at your mess. “I-I can tidy it up.”
“It’s okay,” he said softly. “I was just browsing and then leaving.”
The sad look in your eyes caught his attention. If he wasn’t so close to you, he would’ve thought your were being polite with the smile that you brought to your face. Was he always this good at reading people?
“I hope to see you around,” you said. With one last bow, you left.
Nanami watched you walk back to your table. You smoothed out your skirt as you sat down and fixed the top of your socks. You rolled up the sleeves of your knitted top, getting comfortable and ready to study. He watched you flip through the pages of the book. The way you focused and how you would talk to yourself. You somehow got him in some trance. He almost forgot why he came here.
“Mister, why do you have that eye patch?” The sudden voice of a young boy brought him out of your spell. He slowly looked down and the young boy looked at him with curiosity…interest. It made Nanami blush.
“It got hurt in a fight,” he answered with a small smile.
“Does it hurt?”
“Not anymore.”
“It looks cool. Is that why your skin looks like that?” Nanami stopped himself from frowning and nodded. “Are you hero or something? Like a superhero?”
“I guess you can say something like that,” Nanami answered.
Quick footsteps approached them and he watched a woman grab the boy by his shoulders, scolding him for leaving her side. When the woman turned to Nanami, her eyes widened. She looked apprehensive that it made Nanami nervous. Without a word, the woman grabbed her son by the hand and pulled him away from Nanami.
Nanami walked to the door, freshly baked bread forgotten. But he didn’t forget you. He took one last look at you. You were engrossed with your book and note-taking. He remembers your soft look towards him. They represented everything good for him. Nothing fearful or repulsive. Nothing that he feared from people to react with.
He would’ve loved to join you. And in the back of his mind, he knew he should. But after earlier, because of one person, he decided against it. He decided to save himself from the possible humiliation coming his way. And so he left, with you left in his mind.
He saw you for most of the afternoons out of the two weeks that passed. He never mustered up the courage to go up to you though. He never stayed for too long anyway.
Nanami would usually arrive before you, reading a book he found interesting in the shelves. You entered the cafe tiredly, usually a yawn would escape your lips when you do. You walk over to the counter and pick up your to-go order and sit at the same corner table from when he first met you. It was your usual spot.
But he sighs dejectedly and hid his face in his book. He still looks down on himself, even more now again. He can’t help but think how beautiful you are. You looked perfect.
You are perfect.
“Do you like tea?”
His head shot up. There you were with a cup in hand. His eyes traveled up to your face. You wore a soft smile, your eyes gentle yet bright. Your cheeks slightly pink, he assumed from the cold wintery temperature outside. Typically, you dressed up. Today was the first day he saw you in something comfortable and casual.
“Thank you,” he said softly. His voice was deep, it made your insides flutter and yourself blush. You curled a strand of your hair behind your ear.
You pretend to not notice, but you knew he was always around. Your nerves got the best of you. So you backed away and left him alone. The stoic expression wasn’t that inviting but his soft brown eyes were inviting that it contrasted his cold, stoic face.
“Sorry if I’m a bother,” you said quietly. “I-I’ll leave you alone now.” You quickly turned away and scurried back to your table. He watched you hide your face with your laptop. And he couldn’t help but slip out a smile when you took a peek over at him a few minutes later. Your cheeks turned pink and you bit your bottom lip.
Nanami then turned away. He hid the left side of his face with a frown. He sighed. There was no way you could have some sort of interest in him.
It’s all in my head.
Nanami brought the cup to his lips. He sighed in content from the taste of Earl Grey tea. He placed it back on the table with a soft smile. Your small and kind gesture warmed his heart. Even just for a small moment, he forgot about his insecurity.
“What’s this?” He noticed a marking on the cup that hid behind the cardboard warmer. He slid the warmer down only for his eyes to widen.
Your number.
When he looked up at you, your eyes were glued to the computer. He wondered if you were avoiding his gaze or just that focused on your studies. Nanami stood up and grabbed the book and tea. Slowly, he walked over to you. The closer he was, the more nervous he became. It was already too late to back away since your eyes followed him.
“Is this seat taken?” he asked curiously. You shook your head. “May I?” You smiled as the tension left your body. You quickly tidied up the clutter behind your laptop so Nanami could have room for his book and cup. “Thank you.” Shyly, you looked at him and smiled.
“You’re welcome.”
You looked up at him and he would look up at you. But you never caught each other’s gazes. And that was fine. Nanami noticed that your smile never left your face. The pink of your cheeks appearing every so often.
So he finally relaxed. He sat back and enjoyed the content silence with you.

This year I've tasked myself with learning an average of one new piece on the guitar every two weeks, or 26 total pieces in 2024. These are mostly intended to be rhythm guitar pieces for vocal accompaniment so they can be simple af if lead or fingerpicking feel inaccessible, but I've promised myself to give lead and fingerpicking at least a solid effort for each piece regardless. Super pleased to declare the first cover accomplished a paltry three days into the year! Acoustic guitar cover 1/26: Skylight, by Pinegrove This song is WILDLY easy to pick up if you already know open chords. You can get into some fun stuff with Cadd9 and Em7 but you fully do not have to. The whole piece is in 4/4, and the only weird thing is that sometimes a chord carries on for a bar longer than you'd expect. To make life even easier, the band has posted the chords to their website, so there's no staring at various free tabs and wondering which one is the closest.

could you elaborate on warped tour please? genuine question since I was actively in the womb for most of it
elaborate on what? the fact that they covered up abuse and allowed the perpetrators to keep performing there year after year (lostprophets, blood on the dance floor, front porch step, sorority noise, brand new, swmrs, pinegrove, etc.) and the founder of warped tour, kevin lyman, said that sexual assault/harassment are “part of pop punk culture?” or the fact that it’s a hollow shell of what it used to be (they fucking turned a nationwide tour with dates all across the country that was like. the only concert some kids got to go to all year into a two day festival that costs three times as much and is only in three cities)?
also it ended in like 2018 are you literally six years old wdym "actively in the womb for most of it"

My music taste as of late can be placed into the following categories
- pathetic straight man wailing over faceless woman (death cab, new friends by pinegrove bc I like when he says end of summer and I’m still in love with her!!!!)
- sexy early 2000s era tv show montage music (massive attack specifically mezzanine, blonde redhead)
- 70s Italian composer movie soundtrack (HEAVY on the Piero Piccioni, intervallo II by ennio morricone, also not Italian but still 70s - ‘street market / love scene’ from the movie Klute)
- Frou Frou cover of ‘I Need a Hero’ from none other than the Shrek 2 soundtrack

Unspoken Love: My Safe Haven
Nanami Kento x Reader
Previous: One Year Later
(Song Inspiration: Need 2 by Pinegrove)
Yuji noticed a big a change in Nanami. It made the student happy to see Nanami more like himself and not reading in the library most of the time when he’s in the school. If anything, he seems happier to the young boy.
“What do you think, sensei?” Yuji asked Gojo quietly when they watched him from afar. Nanami was on the phone, a smile apparent on his face. Nanami brushed his hair back, a small chuckle escaping his lips. Gojo shrugged.
“He doesn’t usually talk about what’s going on in his life,” Gojo replied. A playful grin appeared on the white-haired man’s face. “But we’re about to find out!” Footsteps were coming closer and closer to them. When they looked up, Nanami stood in front of them, a hand resting on his hips.
“You two are up to something,” he said.
“I think that you are the one up to something,” Gojo said and peered in closer to his face. “You look happy.”
“Yes, I am,” Nanami replied. Gojo jumped back in surprise. “Am I not supposed to?”
“Nanamin, what’s been bringing you in a such a good mood?” Yuji asked happily and curiously. Nanami softly smiled, your name escaping his lips. Gojo’s mouth was agape while Yuji gasped with a wide smile forming on his face. Nanami chuckled again.
“I’ll see you guys tomorrow,” he said and walked away.
The drive to the hospital wasn’t too far from the school. But twenty minutes always felt too long for him. By the time he arrived, he parked by the front at the outpatient area where you were waiting patiently, body covered with your black peacoat and hat, along with his scarf that he wrapped around you this morning. Your backpack hung on one shoulder and your hand holding your phone. He’s assuming you were playing your mindless phone games while waiting for him.
He smiled and quickly got out of the car. You looked up finally and a smile appeared on your face. Nanami opened your door and you thanked him. He took your backpack before you entered the car and Nanami carefully placed your bag in the backseat before he took his seat. When you looked out the window, some of your fellow classmates stared in shock. You couldn’t help but chuckle and wave at them as Nanami drove away.
You wouldn’t say your relationship with him is complicated. If anything, it was more than you could ever asked for. You two reciprocated everything back to each other. The way you two treat each other and spoke to each other. Texting and calling each other good night and good morning and still meeting up almost everyday. The title remained unspoken and the two of you are content.
Nanami slowly reached for your hand. It was the first time he did and you squeezed his hand with reassurance. Nanami smiled, his eyes remaining on the road. This time, you laced your fingers with his and rested both of your hands on your lap.
“How was clinical?” he asked softly.
“I got to go to the ICU today!”
“You seem extremely happy about it, darling,” he said with a small smile.
“I got to do and learn so much!”
You sat up straight and turned to face him, animatedly talking about your day. All the medical terms you included, Nanami just smiled and nodded, asking questions here and there so he could understand more about your day. And he could hear the happy tone in your voice as you answered all of his questions. Listening to your voice, the excitement and passion you have, it has his heart going and going. He could listen to you all day long.
“Darling,” Nanami called.
“Yes?”
“Will you go on a date with me this weekend?” he asked.
You stood in front of your mirror. You straightened out your warm tights and rustic orange corduroy dress. You adjusted the belt and checked your make up one last time. You made sure your hair was perfect in the beanie you wore. With content, you smiled. You picked out your knee high brown boots and placed them by the front door. You went on your laptop and quickly submitted the last of your assignment of the semester before you heard the door of your apartment open. You smiled.
“You look beautiful,” Nanami said breathlessly.
It was only two days ago when he officially asked you out. He remembered the nerves and the fear of rejection running through his mind. He didn’t remember how he mustered up the courage to ask you out on a date. He just remembered the question escaping his lips. He remembers feeling your hand freeze on your lap. He couldn’t tell who’s palm was sweating, but he assumed it was his. He remembers stopping at the light and finally looking at you. Your cheeks were pink and a smile was apparent on your lips. And when you said yes, he was elated.
When you turned to look at him, Nanami was still in his beige suit, blue button up, and orange-black spotted tie. You can’t complain though. You love a man in a suit. It was seldom that you see him wear sweats or jeans. Either way, he remained handsome in your eyes no matter what. His blond hair parted and pushed back. His shoulders broad and his built figure fitting perfectly in his suit. His soft brown eye and smile made your insides melt.
“Well, you look extremely handsome today,” you said with a blush on your face as you closed your laptop. You walked up to him with a smile. “You look like you’re glowing.” Nanami softly laughed.
“I get to have my first official date with my favorite girl,” he said softly, his fingers brushing softly on your cheek before he cupped your chin with his fingers. “Are you ready, darling?”
He treated you just like any other day. Today was just another step to your unspoken relationship. He is more intimate and you returned the intimacy. He held your hand all day and kept you close to him. You leaned your head against his arm and would consistently wrap your arm around his. He remained chivalrous, and of course, you couldn’t let him pay and do everything until he says:
Don’t worry, darling. I got it.
“How was dinner?” he asked. Your arm was wrapped around his arm while the two of you walked in the crowded Tokyo streets.
“Delicious! Probably the best pasta I ever had,” you answered happily. Nanami chuckled. “Where to now?”
Nanami brought you a museum. It wasn’t your typical art museum or science museum. This museum displayed the human bodies and various diagnosis and its history. It made him very nervous, but after seeing you reading several books on various pathologies, he hopes you would find the museum exciting. Safe to say, the two of you were there for several hours. You read everything and examined everything you saw. By the time you reached the end of the museum, your stomach immediately growled. Loudly. All Nanami could do was laugh and take you out to the planned restaurant.
“I want to go to my favorite place,” he said when you two finished your late dinner. You smiled and rested your head on his arm. You followed his lead and looked around the familiar surroundings. And then you caught sight of the cafe. Nanami opened the door for you and you thanked the gentleman as always. Nanami placed his hand on the small of your back and lead you to the corner you typically reside in.
“This is really your favorite place,” you asked curiously. Nanami nodded. He mentioned that he’ll be back. You watched him pick up two drinks, bringing a smile on your face.
“I got us tea,” he said. You felt relieved with the hot cup warming up your cold fingers. Nanami did warn you to wear gloves, but you claimed that you don’t own any before the two of you left the apartment.
“So, how did the cafe become your favorite place?” you asked after taking a small sip of your tea.
“This is where we first met. And if I didn’t meet you, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” You looked at him surprised, cheeks pink as you felt shy. “I was very insecure and felt that I didn’t deserve to have someone like you in my life. I doubted myself and felt that I just needed to be alone. But my body reacted differently from my brain because I wasn’t going to help you get the book you were jumping up and down for.” You couldn’t help but laugh at his statement. Nanami smiled. You weren’t offended. But why would you?
“I took the chance to invite you over to sit with me that first day and I had a good gut feeling you were going to be there before me again, so I mobile ordered tea that one day and wrote my number on the cup,” you confessed. Nanami smiled. He reached out and held your hand.
“Have you ever been ashamed of me? Felt embarrassed to be around me?” he asked curiously and seriously.
“Never, Kento-kun,” you answered. “Not even once.” Your answer meant everything to him. The look he held in his eye made you feel weak. You suddenly blushed and shyly looked away. Nanami stood up so he could take the seat right next to you. He wrapped his arm around your shoulders and you leaned on his chest. “I enjoyed today.”
“I did too, darling. Are you ready to go home?” You shook your head and pouted.
“I never want my day to end,” you said. “I love spending time with you.” He felt his heart flutter.
“You’ll see me tomorrow for sure,” he said. He stood up and held out his hand. You grabbed it and he pulled you up to your feet. “You need your rest.” He took your empty cup and wrapper and threw it away before he brought you back home.
You cling on to him tightly on your way back up to your apartment. Nanami couldn’t complain. He always thought he wouldn’t be a fan of physical contact like this. Maybe holding hands and a quick hug would’ve suffice, but with you clinging tightly on to him made him feel loved, needed, and at ease.
“Are you up for a second date?” Nanami asked. You blushed and nodded.
“I’ll go on all of the dates with you, Kento-kun,” you replied happily. Nanami blushed.
“Then, would you like to come over tomorrow for dinner?” he shyly asked. You don’t often go to his place. You remember it being very neat. He has a modern, contemporary style. White couches with yellow and white patterned throw pillows. Marbled black countertops with white cabinets, white walls, with a light gray wooden floors.
“I would love to,” you said. “Your place is super nice.”
“You think so? I thought you hated it.” Your eyes slightly widened.
“N-No! Th-That’s not it. It’s just…I’m scared to even make a mess. Your place is so clean.” You blushed at your answer. It sounded so lame. But Nanami squeezes your hand and chuckled.
“It is clean but I’m not typically home,” he said. “So, it would be nice to make it more homey, don’t you think?” You knew what he tried to implied, and it made you blush even more.
“Y-Yeah!” Your voice was a higher pitch, he noticed. Nanami smiled.
By the time you two reached your front door, Nanami pulled you in for a hug. You melted in his arms. He found comfort holding you. Nanami pulled away slightly and cupped a side of your face while caressing your cheeks.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said softly. “In so many ways, you’re beautiful.” You felt a leap in your stomach. You watched him lean in slowly to you. Before you knew it, his lips met yours. His kiss is soft, the way you thought your first kiss would be. When he pulled away, you looked at him dreamingly. Nanami couldn’t help but let out a small giggle. “You alright?” You nodded, your mind in a daze.
“I never kissed someone before,” you said. When you looked at him, his whole feature softened.
“I haven’t either.” You felt so happy hearing that from him. You immediately wrapped your arms around him happily.
“Tonight was amazing. I had so much fun.”
“I did too, darling. I’ll see you tomorrow.” With one last kiss, he watched you walk inside and left.
Your winter break fell too short. But you spent it everyday with Nanami. Nanami provided everything for you, no matter how much you protested. And right now, Nanami is walking up to your campus, finding the academic building you were in. He made sure he was early enough to find and surprise you.
He stood by the trees, leaning back against it with his arms crossed. A sudden rush of students started leaving and entering the building. Many of the females eyeing him in awe. He couldn’t help but smile to himself. Thinking how right you were and him admitting that his insecurities were getting the best of him.
“HES SO HOT!” one of the female students exclaimed. A group of female students looked at him then turned back to each other as they giggled. He couldn’t help but let his confidence grow.
“Those scars make him hot. I wonder what happened.”
“Such a mystery. So sexy.”
Nanami laughed while his focus remained on you. He finally found you. Black peacoat with your thick tights and sweater dress. His eye caught the large brown scarf he wrapped around you to make sure you were warm. He found you talking to a small group of other students. Two males and a female. He was in awe as you laughed. He patiently waited for you to hopefully notice him. He watched you scan the campus. And once you saw him, he watched you stare at him a little longer. He couldn’t help but laugh as he started to walk to you. You quickly said bye to your classmates and ran to him.
“Kento-kun!” you yelled out happily. You immediately hugged him before giving him a kiss. “Aren’t you working?”
“I’m free right now,” he answered and kissed your forehead. “How was your last first day of class?” You groaned but still smiled.
“Overwhelming already,” you answered.
“Come on, do you want to go to my place and relax?” he asked. You nodded excitedly and reached for his hand. He intertwined his fingers with yours and kissed your hand.
“So I still have my Thursday clinicals,” you explained.
“Tomorrow morning?” You nodded.
“Yeah, so I probably shouldn’t stay for too long. I’ll have to get ready and sleep at a decent time, if I can. My sleep schedule is pretty wonky at the moment.” Nanami nodded.
“You didn’t get sleep last night, right?” You yawned and nodded your head.
“7:30AM,” you replied tiredly.
You softly thanked him when he opened your door. Once he closed the door, you leaned your head against the window and closed your eyes. Nanami paused before he stepped inside. He took his jacket off and covered your body with his jacket before leaving to your place instead of his.
You didn’t stir at all when he lifted you up from your seat. Your head rubbed against his chest for comfort as he walked you two to your apartment. Nanami gently placed you on your bed before removing your shoes and coat. He covered you warm with your blanket and set your clinical alarm on your phone.
He did it all. He found your uniform for the next day and placed it on your computer chair. He plugged your laptop to charge right next to your backpack so you don’t forget to pack it the next morning. He made you dinner and packed leftovers for lunch, making sure your lunchbox had your snacks and a water bottle. He set up a new K-cup in the machine with your thermos next to it. Finally, he left his credit card on the counter in case you wanted breakfast for the morning.
He didn’t want to leave. He planned to stay until you woke up. But his phone call from Gojo made him sigh. Quickly, he wrote a note and quietly placed it on your nightstand. With one last kiss to your forehead, he left.
“I love you, darling,” he whispered softly.
You couldn’t help but brag to your classmates. All the females questioned about Nanami when they saw him waiting at campus. You excitedly talked about him. About how you two met and how your relationship is with him.
“So, he never made it official?” a girl asked.
“It is,” you said.
“But he never asked you!”
“He doesn’t have to. It’s…unspoken of but it says a lot,” you answered. You smiled widely as you took a bite of the food Nanami prepared.
It was around 7PM when you woke up from your long nap. You were confused at first. You remembered being with Nanami. But once you read his note, you immediately sat up in bed and turned on your lamp. You saw your uniform and bag all set up for you. You walked in the kitchen, and your lunchbox was set along with dinner. A note was in a fridge on a filled bento box for your lunch and another about the new K-cup on the machine. And when you saw the credit card and a note that says In case you want breakfast, your whole being just melted. He text you goodnight and sweet dreams before he went to sleep and you text him good morning before you got ready. So yeah, you didn’t need verbal confirmation on your status with Nanami.
“Girl, it’s cute,” another classmate said. “I wish I have that.”
“Is he like rich? His car looks so luxurious!” You shrugged, but you would assume so with his job. But you never bothered to ask.
“Older man too, right?”
“By like three years.”
“Is he picking you up today? I wanna see him again!” You laughed. “You’re so lucky!”
Again you laughed. You checked your phone. You smiled. Nanami finished his mission safe and sound.
“If he’s not working. You girls are crazy.” The ladies groaned with a pout. A small chuckle escaped your lips once more before you ate your food again.
“Wait, I always thought you had to ask them to be your girlfriend?” Yuji asked curiously after the mission he and Nanami were on. The two of them were waiting for Ijichi. Yuji was curious about you and surprise hit him when Nanami happily spoke about you.
“We know,” Nanami said as he fixed his eyepatch. “It’s common that you would ask. But I don’t have to with her.”
“Why’s that, Nanamin?”
“Action speaks louder than words, Itadori-kun.”
“Have you ever said ‘I love you’ yet?”
“Once but she was asleep. But I will. I want to at least tell her that.”
“Mmmm, so if I like a girl, should I do what you do?” Yuji asked innocently. Nanami chuckled.
“You do what feels right, Itadori-kun. If you want to ask her to be your girlfriend then you ask her. Every relationship is different.”
“So, when did you find her to be your girlfriend?” Nanami blushed. He didn’t know. He wondered if you thought of the same thing or if you found him to be your boyfriend at a certain time. He cleared his throat.
“Maybe it was when I asked her out on an official date. However, to me, it felt like it was earlier than that.”
“Can I meet her?” Yuji was excited. He always wanted to meet you. He thought maybe you were the one that helped Nanami. And he wanted to meet the one that saved him.
“One day,” he said. “She’s almost done with school in a few months. So when she’s done. She’s a busy body.”
“I bet she works overtime unlike you.” Nanami raised an eyebrow at the young, pink-haired boy.
“She actually does.” Yuji laughed. “She technically works three jobs with her full time job, going to school, and studying.”
“Nanamin, how’d you find her?”
“I’ll tell you that another day,” he answered. “Maybe she’ll tell you. If you like details at least.”
“Worth waiting for a few months then, Nanamin!”
Months passed. It was a big day for you. You searched the crowd left and right, trying to find your tall, blonde boyfriend. You groaned. You thought he would be easy to find, especially with his tie. After taking pictures with your close classmates, you ventured out more in the crowd to find Nanami.
“Darling!” You smiled and turned around. There he was holding a large bouquet of your favorite flowers with a small teddy bear that wore a small stethoscope around its neck. You ran to him and hugged him tightly. “Congratulations, darling.”
“Thank you! I can’t believe it was hard to find you. Your tie sticks out!” you exclaimed.
“I would think the eyepatch would more,” Nanami said with a chuckle. You blushed.
“That to.” Nanami laughed and kissed you softly. “I want to take pictures.”
“Yes, my darling.”
You met his friends and the young sorcerers a couple of times. You were surprised that he invited everyone to your favorite bar/restaurant to celebrate your big day. It was the first time celebrating with a bunch of people. Something you mentioned to Nanami once.
“We could’ve just had a small dinner,” you said.
“I know. But you deserve a big celebration. I’ll get us a round of shots,” Nanami said and got up.
“So what’s the plan now?” Ino asked.
“Is Nanamin going to propose? Should we expect a wedding soon?” Gojo asked with a wide grin. You blushed.
“I-I got accepted to work in the ICU as long as I pass my boards,” you answered happily.
“When does that happen?” Nobara asked.
“Hopefully next month,” you answered. The thought of it made you nervous.
“I’m sure you’ll do fine,” Shoko said. “Nanami talks very highly of you.” You blushed again.
“Nanami-san is happier with you,” Megumi added. You giggled.
“I would hope so,” you said in a joking matter. Nanami finally returned with a tray. Gojo smiled.
“Nanamin, when’s the wedding?” he asked. Nanami gave him a blank stare. “Oh come on! I bet you got a ring somewhere.”
“Oi! Shut up,” Shoko yelled.
“Stupid,” Maki muttered under her breath.
You returned back with Nanami to his apartment. He watched you arrange the flowers while he hung your gown and cap on the hanger. He hung it up in the coat closet before watching you again. You wore a white dress with brown heels that now lay by the front door. He watched you admirably before he came up behind you and hugged you from behind.
“Kento!” You lightly laughed. “You scared me.” Nanami chuckled and kissed your cheek, his lips then trailing down your neck. You closed your eyes, enjoying the feeling of his lips on your skin.
“I love you,” he said softly. Your heart began to race. You turned around to look at him. You couldn’t explain what you saw in him, but you can see all the love he has for you. You always have.
“I love you, too,” you replied back and kissed him softly on the lips. Nanami’s hand was on the back of your head while the other rested on your waist. Nanami slowly pulled away and pressed his forehead against yours. He looked at your now glowing face. He wondered if that’s how he looks right now in your eyes.
“W-Would you…Would you like to move in with me one day?” he asked nervously. “Whenever you’re ready to. I—“ You patiently waited for him to continue, a soft smile appearing on your face. “Or I could go to you. Darling, you became my safe haven. I wouldn’t be who I am now if it weren’t for you. I want to be able to wake up with you every morning and hold you in my arms and fall asleep with you at night. I love you so much.”
“I would love to move in with you, Kento,” you answered softly. “I thought you’d never ask.” Nanami chuckled and kissed your lips again and again and again that you started to laugh in the kiss. You yelped when he suddenly carried you in your now shared bedroom. He laid you on the bed and he lied down next to you, holding you close to him. He held your hand, admiring how small it is compared to his.
“I want to marry you one day,” he confessed. You giggled and turned around to face him.
“You think so far ahead into the future,” you stated. You watched him blush. “I do, too.”
“What do you see?”
“Well, I see you coming home every time and myself running up to you and give you the biggest hug and kiss. I see us eventually buying a house. I see us having a small wedding. I can see us having two daughters. I hope you’ll be a girl dad,” you answered with a giggle. “I see us growing old together and being happy just like like this.”
“And your gut feeling?” A wide smile spread across your face. You kissed him passionately.
“I’m not worried about where we’ll be going.”
“Were you ever worried? I don’t say a lot with our relationship.” You shook your head.
“Action speaks louder than words, right?” He is elated. Elated that you thought of the same thing as him.
“You never doubted me?”
“Never, Kento. Have you ever doubted me?” Nanami smiled and shook his head. “Take off until next week.” Your sudden request had him confused and surprised, but either way, he was willing to do anything and everything for you.
“Anything for you, my love.” His new nickname for you made you smile widely. “What did you have in mind?”
“Moving.” He chuckled.
“And we’ll go out to dinner to celebrate.”
“Celebrate what?”
“I just want to celebrate us.” You blushed. His cheesiness had that effect on you. You love it. “And you deserve to be treated out.”
“Kento, what about you? What do you want from me? Because you give me everything.” Nanami kissed you.
“Just keep loving me the way you do. Stay by my side forever. Be my safe haven.” You nodded and kissed him this time. “Now, let me run you a hot bath. You had a long day.”
“I’m a lucky person.”
“I’m the lucky one.”
