Umbilical cord blood and tissue collection in Pittsburgh PennsylvaniaUmbilical cord blood and tissue in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania are collected immediately after birth via a non-invasive and pain-free procedure. The umbilical cord is clamped and cut as usual, but instead of discarding the placenta and umbilical cord, they are collected by a trained healthcare professional. The blood is extracted from the cord using a sterile needle and collected into a specialized bag with anticoagulants to prevent clotting. The tissue is collected by cutting a small piece of the cord and placing it into a sterile container. Both cord blood and tissue are then transported to a laboratory for processing and storage. This procedure is a safe and effective way to collect valuable stem cells that can be used for future medical treatment

Lincoln Way
Location: Clairton, PA
Probably one of the strangest locations posted on this blog to date...
Imagine stumbling upon forty houses, each filled with someone else’s belongings. The closets filled with clothes, shelves with pictures, some driveways containing a parked car, and flickering lights even though there is no electricity. What makes these houses even stranger? Nobody knows why the people of Lincoln Way just fled the premises. It was rumored to have been due to some of the pollution from the factory across the river or because of the decline in the steel industry, but why would they leave their belongings as they left? Why would they not take their cars? Lincoln Way was said to be one of the nicest areas of Clairton in its hay day. After a fire in early April of 2015, many of the houses burned to the ground leaving about ten creepy residences. The local government is hoping to knock down what is left of Lincoln Way.

Spring 2022
This is what happened in March 2022 so far.
last week and final week of winter quarter then i flew to pittsburgh on Friday. i was there for 4 days and flew back on wednesday. i met a lot of people there; someone i already knew and new faces. interestingly, i was told i was very quiet again. i can’t remember anyone back home tell me this. someone probably did but it didn’t stick with me. this one did. just like that time when one of my classmates said that same thing about me. i still don’t understand why some people can’t respect the fact that there are people who don’t like to talk especially with strangers. People are quiet for so many reasons. i myself never ask people out loud why they talk so much. this trip kind of confirmed me that i like books more than people in terms of work and studies.
not just this story in pittsburgh, i also got a story to tell about my arrival and stay in piitsburgh. many bus drivers went on strike during the days that i was there so i didn’t have to pay for the bus but less buses definitely had an effect on people’s lives. i waited one hour for a bus from the airport. and it seems like some buses don’t run after 6 pm on sundays. interesting.
i came back and went hiking. it was my first hike here. good thing that it wasn’t too muddy. i was wearing my white nike airforce ‘cause i don’t have anything else and they are the most comfortable ones. i think i ruined the shoes. i can still feel the pain in my legs. i walked 5.2 miles well according to the app. we walked down, around the lake, and back up again. i was dying. it was super windy and chilling on top of the mountain in the morning but got better in the afternoon. it was good experience.
my first hike was in Chantaburi, i guess - first field trip with my colleagues. the trail was rather short and i got bitten but a leech. i almost cried because i hate those so much - disgusted to be specific. ew.
hopefully, my less than 3 months stay here will be great. the only thing that is bugging me is about the tax return. i really hope it goes well.
that’s it for this blog.
PS i told my boyfriend that i’ve been missing my life with him my cats and my friends so much. having some ones that you can tell everything to is nice and all but wouldn’t it be a lot better if we get to spend time together instead of just verbally sharing our days. my coming here made me realised that i don’t like to be alone, especially when you have someone that you’d like to share your everyday with. it’s just so hard. but i’m glad i got to learn about it with my boyfriend. it’s probably because it’s him too that i feel this way.
he chuckled softly and said, ‘that’s exactly what i have been feeling the whole you’re gone.’
yeah. we both have to hold on during moments like this. not just me.
my student said that since it’s the last quarter, time’s gonna fly. i hope she’s right. i’m so ready for my next chapter.

AMERICAN GOTHIC
Gothic architecture emerged in the Ile-de-France around 1140 and ended in the United States in the 1930s.
Fittingly, the last architects to build in the Gothic style were primarily drawn to its late, florid period. Saint Patrick's Cathedral, a studied summa of the rayonnant and flamboyant styles, is the most convincing recreation of a medieval building this country. Early skyscrapers like the Woolworth Building in lower Manhattan and the Tribune Tower in Chicago acknowledge their debt to the first generation of vertically-oriented buildings in their creative reinterpretation of flamboyant decoration.
The broad, low-pitched arches and intricate vault tracery of the English Decorated and Perpendicular styles, derived mainly from late medieval halls and chapels at Oxford and Cambridge, served as the architectural model formany elite East Coast academic institutions. The Neo-Gothic,ivy-clad core campuses of Yale, Duke, the Universities of Chicago, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh and the crown jewel of "collegiate Gothic," Princeton University, are synonymous with higher education in the American imaginary.
Modernism and capitalism brought an abrupt end to American Gothic architecture. The modernist rejection of 19th-century eclecticism and historical revival styles coincided with the Great Depression, during which the astronomical cost of constructing, and then maintaining, stone vaults, lead armatures and stained glass, carved moldings and gargoyles, hammerbeam ceilings, and bell towers became unsustainable for all but the wealthiest patrons.
The world's largest church built in the Gothic style is in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Harlem. Construction began on the vast Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in 1892, but structural and fiscal difficulties have brought the project to a halt several times and there is no completion date projected.
