[ad_1] PIB Fact Check: The government’s fact-checking unit ‘PIB Fact Check’ has detected fake news doing rounds on the internet, which claims if a beneficiary is seeking a loan of 1 lakh under PM Mudra Yojana, then he/she will have to pay Rs 1,750 to avail the loan. The government’s fact-checking team has completely rejected this fake announcement being circulated on social media with a letter attached to it. “An approval letter claims to grant a loan of Rs 1,00,000 under the PM Mudra Yojana on payment of Rs 1,750 as loan agreement charges,” PIB Fact Check said through its Twitter handle. While terming it misleading, it further said, “This letter is Fake. Finance Ministry has not issued this letter.” The tweet also has the link to the Mudra scheme page that answers all frequently asked questions. Through Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, one can take a loan of Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakh. The loan is collateral free and there is no processing fee on it. What is PM Mudra Yojana? PM Mudra Yojana is a government scheme that was started in the year 2015. In this scheme, loans are given to non-corporate and non-agricultural works. The collateral free loans up to Rs 10 lakh can be availed without mortgaging properties and neither it requires deposit security. What is Mudra? MUDRA, which stands for Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency is a financial institution set up by the government for the development and refinancing of micro units enterprises. The purpose of MUDRA is to provide funding to the non-corporate small business sector through various Last Mile Financial Institutions like Banks, NBFCs, and MFIs. Loans available in three categories Under this scheme, the government gives loans in three categories. Shishu: covering loans up to 50,000/- Kishor: covering loans above 50,000/- and up to 5 lakhs Tarun: covering loans above 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs (function ($) Drupal.behaviors.pagerload = attach: function (context, settings) $(document).ready(function () var maindiv = false; var fbcontainer=""; var fbid = ''; var fb_script = document.createElement('script'); fb_script.text = "(function(d, s, id) var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if (d.getElementById(id)) return;js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;js.src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.9";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));"; var fmain = $(".sr220603"); var fdiv = ''; var ci = 1; var pl = $(".star220603 > div.field-name-body > div.field-items > div.field-item").children('p').length; var adcount = 0; if (pl > 3) $(".star220603 > div.field-name-body > div.field-items > div.field-item").children('p').each(function (i, n) ci = parseInt(i) + 1; t = this; var htm = $(this).html(); d = $(""); if ((i + 1) % 3 == 0 && (i + 1) > 2 && $(this).html().length > 20 && ci < pl && adcount < 3) if (adcount == 2) $('').insertAfter(t); adcount++; else if (adcount >= 3) return false; ); $(fb_script).appendTo(fmain); $(fdiv).appendTo(fmain); var rightside = $('div#main-rhs220603 > div.main-contents:first').clone(); var outpg = $('body').children('.outpage'); $(".sidebar220603").theiaStickySidebar(); if ($.autopager) var use_ajax = true; function loadshare(curl) history.pushState('', '', curl); if (window.OBR) window.OBR.extern.researchWidget(); if (_up == false) var cu_url = curl; ga('set', 'page', curl); ga('send', 'pageview'); if (use_ajax == false)

Current Affairs For UPSC CSE 2022-23
Current Affairs is an important part of the UPSC and other competitive exams. As per the recent trends, the significance of current affairs is growing each year. So one must cover them comprehensively. Many coaching institutes for UPSC conduct separate current affairs classes for this purpose. The toppers suggest that two years of current affairs must be read. Here you can read daily and monthly updates on current affairs and facts. Make sure you are up-to-date on the latest developments in the country as well as around the world to prepare for upcoming government exams. It can be rightfully called “a success ladder”.
Tumblr media
What are Current Affairs?
Current Affairs could be defined as the information or facts related to political events, sports, history, arts and even economic events that are happening in the prat present surroundings. The Current Affairs section is further branched into themes like National Affairs, International Affairs, Political Affairs, Science & Technology, Economics News, and Sports Current Affairs. All aspirants must note that skipping the Current Affairs section would affect their results, as it holds the utmost importance in scoring good marks per the weightage.
Why Are Current Affairs Required?
Current affairs help students stay informed and broaden their perspective on current issues by keeping them well-informed. Candidates gain a better understanding of national and global affairs by studying current affairs.
Current Affairs allows students to stay up-to-date with current events.
To build a perspective of the candidates, it is helpful for them to have an understanding of current affairs.
UPSC exam preparation is incomplete without current affairs, which holds a significant weightage in the Prelims, acts as a value-adding material in the Mains and the knowledge is also assessed in the Interview.
While attempting the mock tests or Previous Year Questions for UPSC you will find out many questions related to the current affairs section.
Sources of Current Affairs
The daily, weekly & monthly gist of Current Affairs from the perspective of the UPSC examination. Besides, this the students can refer to other sources of Current Affairs which are:
Newspapers like The Hindu, The Indian Express, Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Jagran, etc. are the best source when it comes to learning daily current affairs. But you must stick to one of these. Multiple sources will confuse you and would also make it difficult to revise.
Magazines like Yojana, Kurukshetra, and Economic and Political Weekly can also be the source for follow-up on Current Affairs. A monthly magazine, along with PIB, and RSTV is a good way to revise the monthly Current Affairs.
To ease your task, we publish our GS Analyst monthly compilation which covers all the relevant sections of the news in a month. You must know what must be covered to get the maximum advantage of current affairs in less time. Check today’s current affairs for UPSC on the IAS Coaching Institute GS SCORE website for the daily dose of relevant information.

Taking a step forward on teaching the people to recognise the fake news, Clyde has given them do's and don'ts while reading a message on social media. "I first ask them to click the link and check the content if it's matching with the heading or original link. Checking the date of the news, videos is also important because old videos are circulated with different context which is dangerous. There are government websites, official twitter handles, PIB fact check handle, BMC, police twitter handles that upload authentic information, notifications etc. I have made these sources known to the people instead of creating confusion and panic over some messages," he added.

These Simple Steps Let You Identify Fake News and Messages on Whatsapp
As per the report by the Computational Propaganda Project at Oxford University, WhatsApp was the main platform for disinformation in seven of those nations, including Brazil, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Mexico.
This clearly shows how important it is to learn how to check and report fake news and messages on WhatsApp. Fake news and messages are the biggest threat for the following countries.
There are spelling mistakes on many websites which contain fake news, you on a regular basis see this kind of websites while browsing, sometimes you open because of the attractive heading, and here you have to be very secure as the chances of being fake news which you are opening is here to fool you.
Tumblr media
Sometimes your friends don’t even feel that for a joke they are forwarding fake news and people who share them unintentionally or intentionally share the same in a group or person which makes the situation worse for the society as well as for you.
Social media shares a variety of news throughout the day, and there are many claims, mostly fake. This has increased considerably in the Corona period. Everyone has become aware of corona and is forwarding messages from anywhere without thinking and looking. Earlier, fake posts shared on social media have also led to incidents like mob lynching in the country, but you can check a message, a claim, or a news item on WhatsApp a little wisely whether it is fake or true.
1. Identify forward messages
WhatsApp has released the forward message feature in 2018 itself to determine whether the message is forwarded or sent directly to you by someone. Check the facts whenever you receive a forward message. Search Google for that message or claim and check it with a trusted source or check once on the Twitter handle of the PIB fact check. Avoid forwarding forwarded messages to anyone.
2. Question messages
If you receive a message on WhatsApp that makes you angry or scared, check about the message and find out if the message is sent for the purpose of inciting your feelings. Send the message to someone further only after it is believed, otherwise delete it immediately. If someone sends a health message, ask him what is the source of this information or claim.
3. Check messages that are hard to believe
Sometimes there are messages that are a little difficult to believe. Such messages are often not true. In this case, find out from another source how much truth that message contains.
4. Avoid different-looking messages
Sometimes you receive messages that make spelling mistakes. Most such messages are fake and false. Delete such messages immediately and do not send them to anyone.
5. Check photo
When you receive a photo and video on WhatsApp, check it out and watch it carefully. Often photos and videos are edited and sent.
6. Check the link too
The link in the message may appear to be from a familiar or well-known site, but if it contains misspellings or strange characters, something may be wrong.
7. Use other sources
Take the help of another news site to check any news or check it with TV. If the incident has been written about in many places, it may be true.
8. Do not forward messages without understanding.
Before sending any message forward, think once that the information in it is correct or incorrect.
Tumblr media
9. Block numbers and groups which you dislike
If you think you’re receiving messages from a number that is a fake user or sending fake messages, block it. You can also leave the rumor-mongering group.
10. False news often spreads
You ignore how often you have received the message. Just because the message has been shared many times does not mean that the news is true.
Try this also -
Update your WhatsApp app from Google Play Store. Open Whatsapp and go to chat where you get the forwarded message. You will see a search web button near that forward message. Tap on that button and you will be redirected to the browser with the Google Search page about that message. From there, you can easily verify the news being covered by some media websites. This feature actually works when you want to spot Fake News which is now becoming an issue.
