The billboard ads for XiaoMI is using the minimal design to make sure people will not missed out the idea of “Save MI, Save You” as the description of XiaoMI Power bank. An illustration of a battery to represent the power bank and a shield to represent the safety to describe XiaoMI Power bank has the safety guarantee when you are using it to charge your electrical device.

Social Media (Instagram)

Our target audience which live in the urban area will often access to social media. It’s a platform that we are able to create an interaction with them. We will be creating an ads on Instagram. We will be doing a swipeable post on the Instagram. The first page of the ads post is a caution sign to seek attention of the public. Then, the second page of the post will be the subline “Let MI secure you” to highlight the key purpose of Xiao MI safer power bank use.

Guerilla Ads

We will be doing the floor projection mapping ads. It will be projected in shopping malls and subway station. The reason of doing this is to attract the public attention to the ads of XiaoMI Power bank. Shopping malls and subway station in Malaysia own the crowd. Thus, placing the ads on the floor to seek the public attention, especially to those smartphone addict phubbers will definitely see the ads. The design of the ads is to make sure people will not miss out the idea of “Save MI, Save You” as the description of XiaoMI Power bank which they are able to charge their device with no worries.

Scene 1: A person is watching TV. Scene 2: He saw news about pirated power banks exploding case. Scene 3: He felt asleep at the sofa and left his phone charging with XIAOMI power bank. Scene 4: He dreamed about power bank exploding cases. Scene 5: He was shocked and he woke up from his dream. Scene 6: When he sees his phone is still charging safely with the XIAOMI power bank, he feels relieve and smile.

Video advertising is another essential platform for promoting an electrical device. The reason we chose to do video is most of the people now will be more interested in watching videos or moving object so it will eventually engage them more. The length of the video will be 35 seconds. We try to keep it short and direct to make sure our target audience will not get bored of it. The video will be published on TV and Youtube. The video will be executed with a man was watching the news about the power bank exploding incident. Then, he slept when his phone was charging with Xiao MI Powerbank and he dreamt about the terrify power bank exploding case and he got shocked. He woke up and see his phone was charging safely with Xiao MI Power bank. This is to bring out the message “Safe MI, Safe You” of the MI brand that ensure the safety use of electrical device and is able to charge with no worries.

Why are we so easily conquered by social media?

The first social media I used was QQ in 2008. I remembered that at that time, QQ could only chat, and only chat on the computer. But many people and I still stayed up all night to chat. As for what I talked about, I couldn't remember now, but I was really obsessed at that time. With the progress of network and computer technology, there are more and more social media emerging, such as Facebook, Twitter, Momo, WeChat, Weibo, Huya, Douyu...In addition, the emergence of the mobile app also makes more and more people are no longer staying up all night in front of the computer, and start to become "phubbers". Social media, it seems, successfully tethers us to the nearest places to radiation and makes us happy there. What is it about social media that makes us so easily conquered?

Social media allows us to create new selves. On social media, people talk more about themselves in order to let others know them better (Seiter, 2019). The reality of life is gone, so people always leave regrets in their reality. However, the online world is different. People want to present a brand-new self on social media. Here their real-life can be cut and embellished to look like the ideal, such as a picture, which you can be processed into the way you want, like Figure 2. Social media satisfy people's vanity and make the distant dream, such as wealth, fame (of course, these are fictional), appear in front of his eyes. You can put the pictures together as you want just like driving a sports car, or dressing in jewelry, or traveling to Dubai, and then uploaded to the social media such as Facebook or WeChat, used to show off, or deceive those friends or relatives who do not see for a long time.

Social media can also help us strengthen our social connections. Life will be not only in a circle of origin, but there are also too many places to go. We always care about every dignitary in our side or friends and relatives on our way forward. Social media has certainly made it easier for us to connect with them, not just for ease of use, but for low or no cost. We can also contact some new friends who have not appeared on our side before. For example, if you go abroad, you can contact your compatriots or the country embassy through social media to ask for help, which cannot be done by mobile phone.

Social media also facilitates the unknown world. Time and technology have endowed social media with more functions and applications. Social media which is a good tool for measuring people's life satisfaction, allows us to express our opinions on current events and express our approval and dissatisfaction with real-life (Wilczek, 2018). In China, WeChat, in addition to chat, can also be used for online shopping, face to face payment, transfer money, car booking, even donation... But in the backside of these interests, there are always hidden too many risks and fraud, such as ransomware virus, fake shopping website, financial fraud...however, those disadvantages don’t seem to persuade people to stop from relying on social media.

In short, social media seems to allow us to live in the virtual world as we want to be, so how can we not be conquered, how can we not rely on. However, there are always some things missing in the virtual world, such as sincerity, down-to-earth, thus, it's important to balance real life with the virtual world of social media (Coutterand, 2018). You can take a nap in the virtual world, but don't lose sleep there.

 Já ouviu falar em phubbing? É um termo que veio da mistura das palavras phone e snubbing (do inglês, telefone e esnobar). Phubbers – praticantes de phubbing – são pessoas que se mostram altamente sociáveis e engajadas na internet, mas, pessoalmente, acabam passando o tempo que poderiam dedicar a quem está à sua volta mexendo no celular. É importante reforçar: phubber não é alguém que gosta muito de ficar no celular, mas alguém que acaba se prejudicando em suas relações pessoais, amizades, estudo, trabalho e em inúmeros outros aspectos por não conseguir se desconectar para fazer outras atividades.
