i got DAPGO for hanukkah and i'm at the part in the book where they're at home and it leads me to wonder whether they specifically cranked up the picture-taking amount for the book or if they just take a billion pictures of each other all the time

i am holding on to the idea that they take lots and lots of photos of each other bc even before dapgo we got a few shared with us every now and then :’)

Report Phanphlops on Instagram

For those who don’t know, this is an account dedicated to shitting on art by new and experienced artists. I don’t want to share any examples here but I am aware that two of my friends have been targeted so I wanted to defend them.

Ok, before I get started -- this is the best place to start fighting against (specifically Instagram) accounts dedicated to shitting on art.

These folks hating most likely have 0 experience in actual critique of art (as someone who has weekly crit sessions at my university - I can assure you actual art critique is not like this, and therefore, these comments are MEANINGLESS) but that doesn't mean their words can't hurt and honestly it's so so sad to see my friends attacked like this. It's flat out targeted harassment and an encouragement for bullying. It needs to stop.

I ain't one to hate and I generally do try to see the good in everyone but I can't understand how pathetic you have to be to target folks who have done nothing but share their passion, INCREDIBLE creative talents & kindness with you.

Please don't sit back and watch this happen, fight back in any way you can. Don't be silent when someone is being hurt.

My heart goes out to Nikki (pinofs) and Iris (phankatsu) both of whom’s art keeps me in awe, keeps me inspired and incredibly emotional every time I see it. Their individual styles are unique to them and that's something I'll always admire and treasure deeply. Please keep working and moving forward, maybe not for shitty people like this, but for yourself, your friends and anyone else who loves to see you create. I love you and you/you're art does not deserve such hate.

And of course this applies to the other bunch of artists, new or experienced, who this account has targeted. You're still learning and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Please understand that your passion shines through any art you make and these folks are just blinded by their own insecurities to see it.  You've got beautiful fire inside of you, and are actually putting it too good.... unlike the account above (and others like it). Hold on to any light you have and continue to put it to good. You’re art can reach thousands and I’ve seen and experienced first hand the positive impact it has. There are people in this world who can see that light & love it so /so/ much. Anything you create, is beautiful. Your art, is beautiful. Just like you.

There's so much more I want to say on the matter but I can't process how to word it just yet but holy fuck Don't Be An Asshole To Artists™.

TLDR; Don't shit on artists. To any artist reading this - you are amazing no matter what.
