look all i'm saying is there are advantages to being the person who has to google "php check if string contains substring" almost every time (while vaguely remembering that the answer is stupid but not what that stupid answer IS)
& one of those advantages is that sometimes it leads to you discovering that php8 actually invented a "str_contains" function when you weren't looking, which is SO MUCH LESS STUPID than using strpos was!
& see if i'd just REMEMBERED about strpos i would not have looked it up & learned about the new better way!
so tl;dr my being a worse programmer actually makes me a better programmer shut up losers i win.

i do think programming is very fun to do for work because it's like you will go and make up this cool little thing and then you even get to do show and tell where you show it for everyone to see how cool it is
#ok it's not always that glamorous#but nevertheless the show-and-tell part of it is a highlight to me#got a W today because i was able to show off some new thing id come up with for dev use#and he gave this sorta 'ohoho' reaction and i was like NAILED IT#the reason i work from home really well is because i love just coming up with shit to do for programming#like hell yeah girl ill scope creep by upgrading the code to better handle scope cree#and then there's a day like today where i get bombarded (relatively speaking) by requests to do things#was like 6-7 separate things#and i was able to do them all with time to spare to make up something new#because of all the something's new i already have laying around#it's great#like MAN i got some shit in here that i am like. this is a library girl#i have made 50+ reports so i am constantly refining the associated class we have for it#and i got some AWESOME updates to do like a week and a big ago#and it just kicks so much ass#it's now so easy to drum up these lists of results with all sorts of options for searching and charts and showing data#you just gotta check your boxes to say what you want to bring in the data and bam you've got your responsive sortable searchable exportable#page on ur hands#and one little touch we added was the company logo when you're in print mode so it looks sooo cool and profesh#cant believe im gushing about programming like project metric reports#but like. it really has come so far to where it started it's been a great way to teach myself a million and one new php things#cant believe i now program way way more php than i do js

#they were not that bad but definitely dismissive of me. and i’m not saying me being a woman is why but i’m not discounting it#what was funny was that they learned about forms in .php and i had to sit there going ‘ohhh that’s how you do it’#i failed one of my projects because i couldn’t figure out how to get the result#when they said ‘media’ i really thought i was getting media studies but NO it’s fucking COMPUTIIIIING#all the lecturers are fantastic though; they are so friendly. although one of them is absolutely convinced he’s seen me before#i’m like where the hell have you EVER seen someone who looks like me. i mean honestly sir#he thought i might be his daughter’s friend i was like. bestie i’m 28. ‘oh my daughter is 22’ christ i don’t look THAT young#i’m fucking greying at the temples use your brain#there was one kid in my last class of the day who was really nice but generally overall i am feeling like someone has scooped my brain out#and replaced it with cotton wool. i’m looking forward to getting back to catering#like yes someone will probably set me on fire at some point but i have a better idea of how to deal with that#than i do when there is an 18 year old boy trying to hack the system right in front of me and ignoring everything i am saying to him#personal

on very rare occasions i hate online school. in particular i actually hate it for this coding class. when i get stuck its so hard to communicate with the professor.
if I was able to like be in a computer lab or whatever with him and have us both looking at the screen at the same time and be able to point at stuff on the screen with my finger and stuff like that it would be so much easier
and I am constantly tweaking the code trying to fix it and its such a fuckin ordeal to have to save all the different versions ive attempted to send in an email to the professor instead of just having him. here
