For a photographer.... any photographic opportunity is a good thing. Lana Sutra: Ads as Art

Um, wow. by Erik Ravelo, a Cuban artist, photos for United Colors of Benetton.  

These images are for an ad campaign but they are unique, beautiful, and dare I say sexy. Does the fact they were done for a clothing line mean it's no longer art? If I didn't know it was for an ad campaign, I would have assumed these were in a gallery somewhere. The artist does have work in galleries but also has lots of commercial work.

I was just discussing whether creative vision or commercial gain should be the focus of ones work...

This guy turned YARN into something sensual... he should get credit for that at least.
