London
Outside the confines of your hotel room, silence blankets the city much like the fog that hangs overhead. The first light of dawn is yet to break through the ink-black sky as the metropolis cradles its inhabitants in the silence of the night. This part of the city is still asleep, each soul embraced by the arms of Morpheus, awaiting daybreak to rouse them from their slumber.
Your gaze fixates on the horizon from between the sheer curtains. A pang of anticipation stirs within you, for out of all the alluring sights of nature, sunrise has always been your favourite. After all, regardless of wherever you are in the world, the sunrise is the only constant in the transient nature of life.
Today, however, as the dark black of the night fades to inky blue and splashes of pinks and purples bloom in the east, the only sight you focus on are his eyes. Seonghwa’s eyes are brighter than any galaxy and softer than the cherry blossoms that have begun blossoming on the tree just beyond the terrace. In that moment, you are happy to forego the sight of the beautiful sunrise to watch the coffee and hazel in his eyes melt to form the most gorgeous shade of brown you’ve ever seen.
It won’t be an exaggeration to say that sometimes, you feel like all of your life—each second, each breath, and each step—amounts to Seonghwa. Every decision you have ever made has been a stepping stone in your journey to meet him that one day six years ago when he was only a trainee.
Close to dawn, you had been wandering through the streets of Seoul to find a spark of inspiration for your first-ever project as a photography major. You knew you wanted to play with the idea of light and dark meeting together to form the most beautiful of sights, and what was a better time to do so than twilight?
So there you were, braving the winter chill for a decent grade while your friends were sleeping soundly, snuggled up in their warm beds.
But it seemed that fate had other plans for you that morning. You took a sip of the coffee you’d bought from the only cafe open at this ungodly hour, forgetting for a moment that it was piping hot. With a wince, you glared at the beige paper cup as if the liquid energy had personally done something to spite you.
A snicker caught your attention, and you turned around to narrow your eyes at the person, only to freeze in your tracks. Wearing a brown, fuzzy coat coupled with dark skinny jeans, the male looked like an angel sent from heaven. The thought that he was a hallucination of your sleep-deprived and cold body crossed your mind, but you discarded the thought when he realised that you’d heard him, and he scrambled to apologise for laughing.
You didn’t know then, but your life was for him. And, it won’t be an exaggeration to say that your life is all him. As winter melted into spring and spring made way for summer, you fell in love with the colour brown: the lush cocoa of Seonghwa’s eyes, sweeter than any hot chocolate you could find, and the tan of his skin, reminiscent of the buttery sweetness of roasted chestnuts. As the weather became humid and the days turned longer, you didn’t even register the beginnings of love taking root in your heart.
It began slowly, like the dripping of water from a tap. Drop by drop, your heart filled with adoration for him. Starting with an appreciation for the awe with which he experienced the world as if doing so for the first time. Then, it became more serious: you found yourself yearning to be around him, to listen to him talk about anything and everything, to be the only one he’d think of as being worthy of his heart.
And then, as if that wasn’t enough, you fell for his voice, a deep baritone with the consistency of honey that you couldn’t get enough of. And the best part? You got to hear it every day before sunrise, for that was his designated time for you in his busy schedule as a trainee and then later as an idol. Dawn was yours, had always been yours, and would always be yours as long as Seonghwa was beside you.
And so, without your knowledge, you fell in love with him bit by bit. You fell as if falling under a spell you couldn’t find a counter for. Not that you wanted to anyway, not when he was there to catch you.
A year later when spring arrived, love and hope sprouted in your heart when Seonghwa’s lips pressed against yours for the first time under the cherry blossoms. He etched himself into the deepest crevices of your soul and your heart. His touch was like that of the sun against your skin after a dark night, igniting your soul in a way that reminded you of fireworks. Under the light of dawn, as he kissed you, you learned a truth. Like the sunrise, Seonghwa is the only constant in your life.
“What are you thinking about?” His soft whisper pulls you out of your reminiscing, and you find yourself gazing into his wide eyes that are brimming with affection and curiosity.
Even after years of being with Seonghwa, the way he looks at you as if you are the one who hung the moon in the sky always floors you. Your skin tingles at the warmth and adoration in his gaze.
“You,” lost in way his thumb grazes against your waist, the word slips out of your lips without a second thought. You almost curse at yourself for being so taken with him when you see a devilish smirk pull at his lips.
“Is that so, my dove?” Chuckling, he lets himself get closer to you, if that’s even possible, considering how you’re basically pressed against him. His hands rise to cup your face, drawing you to his lips.
You lose yourself in the warmth of his mouth. His kisses are softer at first, but soon, his lips are moving insistently against yours. His teeth sink gently into your bottom lip, and he swallows the moan that leaves you almost hungrily. Seonghwa’s hand slides up the side of your body to slide your nightgown off you, exposing you to the chilly morning air.
He pulls back from you momentarily, the loss making you whine, but the protest dies in your throat when he gazes at you with nothing but love and adoration. In what little light filters through the sheer curtains, he looks ethereal with his glowing bronze skin. His dark hair is messy, and yet he manages to look as if he’d just stepped out of the pages of a manhwa. As if knowing what’s going through your head, a soft smile pulls at his lips.
“Stop looking at me like that,” he breathes, voice thick with sleep and desire.
“Like what?” You ask, your own hands finding purchase against his shoulders.
“Like I’m the damn sunrise.”
“You’re more breathtaking than any sunrise I’ve ever seen, Hwa,” you cradle his cheek in your palm, words ringing with sincerity as you gaze at your boyfriend.
Seonghwa ducks down at your words, hiding his face in your neck as you chuckle at the way he reacts to your compliment. Your amusement doesn’t last long, however, when he leans down further to lave his tongue against the marks his teeth had left against the column of your neck the night before. His teeth sink into your skin, cutting you off mid-laughter, while his palms come to cup your exposed breasts, and you find yourself arching into his touch.
You watch Seonghwa descend the length of your body, leaving a trail of open-mouthed kisses wherever his lips can reach. His hands slither downwards, fingers digging into your thighs to spread your legs open for him. Bringing his mouth to your core, he smirks when you let out a broken moan, bucking into his mouth. Seoghwa keeps his eyes on you as he devours you.
“Hwa—” you choke back a moan, reaching for him with a trembling hand. You pull him to your lips, tasting yourself on his tongue. “Want you. Please.”
“My beautiful dove.” Seonghwa breathes reverently. His hands are gentle against your waist, cradling you close to him while his lips trace their way up your jaw to meet yours in a sloppy kiss.
As the sun rises over the Thames River, he ravishes you with a gentleness that feels like the first touch of warmth of the morning light.

Madrid
“Are you recording me?” Seonghwa laughs, walking backwards on the sidewalk as you fumble with the camera—it’s heavier than what you’re used to—but you don’t mind because you’re more concerned about the quality of the video than anything else.
You can’t help but grin at the sight in front of you: Seonghwa in a beret and a long, dark coat that he has paired with jeans contrasts so well with the potted geraniums in front of the restaurant you had stopped to get breakfast at. The flowers herald the happiness blossoming in your chest at the sight of your lover glowing like the sun while surrounded by the the tell-tale signs of the approaching spring.
Seonghwa jokes that these flowers are blooming because it is his first time visiting Europe with you. You laugh off his silly comment, but in your heart of hearts, you can’t help but agree with him. It’s almost as if nature wants you to document the most beautiful sights while you record Seonghwa in the cities you are visiting.
Before you can answer him, something catches his eyes, and before you know it, he is dragging you to a toy store he has spotted on the other side of the road. His smile as he eagerly scours the store for something to buy reminds you of sunlight upon the tides, bright and blinding as the sun itself on the waves that lap gently at the shore.
Seonghwa makes his way to the sunglasses, trying on the goofiest ones, making you giggle. Encouraged by your laughter, he continues to make a fool of himself, pulling funny expressions for the camera and not caring if people are giving him funny looks. At one point, he tries the poison green alien sunglasses, and despite you laughing at how atrocious the design is, you can’t help but think how easily he can pull off even the most ridiculous of accessories with grace.
Behind him, you spot something that makes you gasp, and you rush to the shelves to grab one of the Toothless plushies. Turning around with purpose, you’re caught off guard by how close Seonghwa is, but you don’t let it faze you.
“Look, Hwa! I found you on the shelf,” you giggle at him, holding the plushie up so that it lines up with his face.
He rolls his eyes fondly, used to such jokes by the rest of ATEEZ and his fans. Despite that, he takes the plushie from your hands and puts it on his head, allowing you to capture him with ease. His touch is careful as he holds the plushie, similar to how he handles everything he lays his hands on. Delicate and light, he touches everything he comes across with care, and that’s one of the reasons you find him endearing—for he’s one of the few people who truly take the time to appreciate the beauty the world has to offer.
“If I’m Toothless, doesn’t that mean you’re my Light Fury?” You watch the way his eyes scan the shelves for something.
“I guess,” you shrug, chuckling as you help him in his search for a plushie of the said dragon.
“Do you think we should buy these?” Seonghwa asks, interrupting your search, and you turn to find him holding up the two plushies. He glances at the two stuffed toys—Toothless and the Light Fury—with his eyes furrowed as he weighs the pros and cons of buying both.
“You have multitudes of these back home, Hwa.” You remind him, in fact, he has so many plushies and figurines that he had to store some in your apartment because his manager had threatened that he would throw them out if he saw one more of the HTTYD-themed merch.
“But—”
“Hwa.”
“Fine, break my heart, why don’t you?” And with a pout, he places them back on the shelf reluctantly. You know he’s joking because when you gesture towards the plushies later on, he shakes his head with a smile.
Throughout the day, you explore the city with him, telling him everything you had learned about the places from the little tourist booklet you had snagged from the hotel that morning. He listens to you earnestly, watching you talk with a smile as admiration settles under his skin.
Later in the night, you find yourself in a cafe. Taking a deep breath, you inhale the scent of coffee that permeates your immediate surroundings. Since the cafe is basically empty at this time of the night, a sense of tranquillity surrounds you, much like the warm coat Seonghwa has draped over you. You watch late stragglers making their way home from their jobs through the window you’re seated against, hands curled against a warm cup of hazelnut latte.
“Dove,” Seonghwa’s quiet voice comes from next to you, causing you to snuggle into his shoulder, humming for him to continue. “Don’t fall asleep. We have to walk back to the hotel.”
“Shall we leave, then?” Stifling a yawn, you ask, causing him to nod.
He leads you out of the cafe, keeping his hand on your lower back as you walk through the sparsely populated streets. The very next moment, however, it begins to rain out of nowhere, and before you know it, you are being drenched in the downpour.
Seonghwa laughs in surprise but turns his face upwards to allow the raindrops to kiss his cheeks. Even though the world is blurred around you and your vision is warped by the drops in your eyes, you can still see him clearly. He basks in the rain, lets himself get drenched by the droplets cascading down his face, neck, and shoulders. The rain is so heavy that the raindrops make streams as they make their way down his body.
Watching him like this, you find yourself reaching out for him. As if on the same wavelength as you, Seonghwa takes your hand in his, lips curling up in a smile when you entangle your fingers with his. Reaching out, he cups your face gently, and it seems as if the world stops around you, your senses failing to register anything beyond his touch. Seonghwa trails his thumb along your lips, wiping the raindrops that have settled across your skin.
Drenched in the downpour with him, it’s easy to think of Seonghwa as the rain and yourself as the earth that craves rain after a dry spell.

Seoul
The wallpaper drips with grief, mimicking the gloom that has taken root in his heart and doesn’t seem to want to leave. The glow of the streetlights filters through the windows and is the only source of light in his dark room. In the centre of the whirlpool of dread and darkness lies Seonghwa, curled up against the messy sheets he can’t bother to straighten.
The silence is uncanny. He’s not used to it—for years, he has shared a room with Hongjoong, and even though, more often than not, the younger male wasn’t actually there because he preferred the studio or the living room couch to the bedroom, the mere idea of sharing a room with someone always made him feel at ease. Hongjoong has been Seonghwa’s anchor in the years he roomed with him, but now alone in his room, the walls seem to press in around him like waves trying to drown him, leaving him breathless.
If Hongjoong is his anchor, you are his beacon, his guiding light, his polestar. And tonight, as his ship is battered by the biggest storm he’s ever faced, you aren’t here either. Desperately, he searches for something to ground him, but too many days and nights filled with sorrow and false optimism have built up and around him, crushing him with a weight he can’t handle anymore. When love wasn’t enough to save you, how can it be enough to help him stay afloat in the rough seas?
Outside of his room, spring touches everything with its delicate hands. For Seonghwa, however, winter still lingers, and the beautiful weather outside just irks him further. He hasn’t been in love for the last week, and even nature cannot revive him this time around. Without love in his heart, the only thing he feels is despair.
Even now, he can’t forget the way red painted his hands as you lay in his arms. Sometimes, when he squeezes his eyes shut hard enough, he can see your smile. In the very same moment, his heart opens and breaks when the image of you in his arms dances across his vision, and he dies again and again, bleeds until there’s only a shell left behind.
The beeping of his digital clock startles him. The digits read 00:00, distorted from the tears that line his lashes but never seem to fall. For a long time, he had thought today would make the pain bearable, but it persists, lingering in his heart and his room like stubborn rain clouds that linger even after the storm has passed. It is possible that you may not return to him, but he tries to remain optimistic. If he doesn’t believe you to be strong enough to fight for him, for your love, then who will?
His phone dings, and he looks at the device for a moment. Each beep of his phone has, till now, started him into a sitting position, and every time, it has not what he expected. But foolishly, he still hopes for a miracle.
His phone dinging again with the custom notification he had set for you has Seonghwa scrambling to check his phone. It’s a scheduled email, but your name lighting up the screen renders him breathless. At the sight of your name, the storm raging around him quietens down, leaving him in calm seas. There’s a video attached with the email, and he clicks it open.
[Exterior. Mid-morning. Shots of the streets of London from a car. In the foreground, the text reads Happy Birthday, Seonghwa! A female’s voice is heard speaking in the voiceover.]
Y/N: What’s a soulmate?
[The camera pans and focuses on Seonghwa as he looks out of the window, pointing at all the things he remembers from the few times he has been there with ATEEZ for concerts.]
SH: And that’s the cafe Jongho liked a lot. He said the coffee there was amazing. We should definitely visit it after we’ve settled in hotel room, you look like you could do with some caffeine in your system.
Y/N: [laughing] Not everyone is used to sleeping in aeroplanes.
SH: [shaking his head, he sniffs as if wounded by your comments] Well, if you toured with me, you’d be used to it. You’re the only one who keeps declining when I ask you to come with me! My poor self has to live without you for months just because you won’t agree.
Y/N: Your idea of bringing me along includes you stuffing me into your suitcase. Sorry if I don’t want to be thrown around with the other luggage.
SH: [snorting] It’s your fault for being so small.
Y/N: [sighing] Whatever, Hwa.
[Midday. The video cuts to a shot of Seonghwa walking along the Thames river. He has his arms wrapped around himself. The sky is covered with fluffy clouds, and one can tell that spring is fast approaching with the way little green buds are seen on the trees in the background.]
Y/N: It’s a… Well, it’s like a best friend, but more.
SH: It’s so cold!
Y/N: Should we go and get something to warm us up from the cafe you pointed out earlier? I think it’s close to where we are right now.
[The video cuts to the two of you inside the cafe. The camera is placed on one side, allowing it to capture both Seonghwa and you. You’re laughing at Seonghwa, who took a sip from your iced americano and immediately made a face at the taste. The video skips a bit and Seonghwa can be seen humming along to the music from the speakers while you watch him, enraptured by his vocals.]
Y/N: It’s the one person in the world who knows you better than anyone else.
[The video cuts again. This time, Seonghwa is in a hotel room, standing against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and posing goofily while you are laughing in the background. He waddles over to the camera, forcing you to put it on the table as he twirls you around, dancing to a song he’s humming.]
Y/N: It’s someone who makes you a better person.
[The video cuts to a closeup of Seonghwa’s head in your lap as you sit on the couch. He’s sleeping soundly while you run your fingers through his soft hair. His lips quirk upwards in a smile, causing you to halt your motions, but a whine from him has you resuming your actions.]
Y/N: [soft whisper] Did I wake you up?
SH: [hums and shakes his head] Not really… [yawns] I wasn’t fully asleep.
[There’s silence for a while as Seonghwa shifts around to get comfortable.]
SH: I love you.
Y/N: That was so random, Hwa.
SH: Hey! You’re supposed to say you love me too!
Y/N: [snorting] I love you, you overgrown child.
SH: I’ll have you know that’s Wooyoung.
Y/N: Don’t let him hear you say that. He’ll bite your arm off or something.
SH: [laughing hard]
Y/N: Actually, they don’t make you a better person, you do that yourself… because they inspire you.
[The video cuts to Seonghwa amidst the geraniums in Madrid before he drags you to the MINISO. His shenanigans from the store can be seen, with him wearing goofy sunglasses and playing with the Night Fury plushie.]
Y/N: A soulmate is someone who you can carry with you forever.
[Seonghwa can be seen busking with a guy playing the guitar. He sings Angel Baby by Troye Sivan, smiling wide when you start swaying one of your hands in beat with the music, causing people to follow your actions. When he’s done, people come up to him, telling him that he’s an amazing singer, and he thanks everyone with a bashful smile while watching you look at him with a look of pride on your face.]
Y/N: It’s the one person who knew you and accepted you… Believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would.
[Seonghwa excuses himself from the crowd and makes his way towards you, wrapping his arms around your frame and sways the two of you as the busker starts crooning a song in Danish.]
SH: Thank you for always believing in me, dove. Especially when I didn’t believe in myself.
Y/N: [smiling] I love you, and I’ll cheer you on, especially during the darkest days.
Y/N: And no matter what happens, you will always love them.
[The camera pans to you in your editing studio, and you wave at the camera with a smile on your face.]
Y/N: It’s quite late [glancing at the clock on your desk], 3 a.m. to be precise, and I’m working on your birthday video. [Laughs] I hope you like this little video I put together with clips from our trip to Europe. Give me a call once you’re done watching this. I love you so much, Hwa! Happy Birthday, my star!
Y/N: Nothing can ever change that.
Seonghwa wipes his tears, sniffing as he gets up from the bed. With a meticulousness characteristic of him, he goes through the motions of dressing up to pay you a visit. That’s the only thing that seems to make sense, so with bleary eyes and heavy feet, he walks through the deserted streets of Seoul.
The staff members at the hospital allow him to see you, used to his untimely visits. The nurse watching over you gives him a sad smile and leaves him alone with you when he enters your room. He notes that the pallor that had settled beneath your skin is now fading, albeit slowly.
Maybe you’re getting better? But you still haven’t woken up, and seeing your face, he finds himself falling, falling through the memories of the day of the accident. His eyes close of their own accord, and he sighs, trying to get those images out of his mind. Unable to stop his thoughts, he relives the day all over again.
Logically, he knows the accident isn’t his fault but of the person who was behind the wheel.
Or maybe it was, the voice in his mind tells him.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he can’t forgive himself for the events that led up to the accident. If he hadn’t called you to pick him up from the company that night when it was raining, you’d be safe in his arms, celebrating his birthday with him.
No, it wasn’t. Seonghwa desperately wants to believe his own words. But there’s still that small voice of doubt that rears its ugly head, and before he knows it, fresh tears are rolling down his cheeks.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers. Seonghwa is too emotionally exhausted and too choked to speak any louder. “My dove, I’m so sorry for this whole mess. I’m sorry. Please wake up soon. I can’t do this alone—I can’t live without you. Please. I love you.”

Let's design your room with astrology
Bharani edition
Bharani is the 2nd nakshatra ruled by venus and mars (Aries) this gives the native activeness and agility the value of crossing thresholds , as environment effects us a lot certain colours and elements will bring forth the energy in the most beneficial way .
I absolutely am not imposing any of these on you. You don't need a drastic change okay ! All of this is based on my understanding so discern while considering
In the bigger picture entire chart matters so if you do need a longer paid reading about an object or element or colours you can dm me .
Paid readings , masterlist
1. Colours :
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1fdbc1b15fe3510bc694dd4da651ca12/dfbb5d5a481cd4da-5b/s540x810/eadf4c6deac25e91f0478ba1dd1d6f3197897a89.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/815c365dccded8555c299c3d95dec5e5/dfbb5d5a481cd4da-45/s540x810/21cfbbdd93c12c920247b9c10062698f4bcf7a79.jpg)
The colour of bharani is blood red however I would suggested a mutated red for your room as a deep red wall can be over powering , red stands for strength and passion , it gives you a hold on your root chakra , root chakra is essential to help to be stable and take well rounded decisions a very lesser known fact is that a strong root chakra protects from most diseases and brings clarity and groundness.
Apart from red colour , red bedsheets or carpets can also play a part in embodying the regal energy of bharani .
Let's study some colour combinations : (pair with walls , bedsheets , carpets , furniture )
Red + white : a mixture of rajas and satva will help you stay balanced and control when passion is undirected or ego driven
Red+ brown : a good combination when you're spiritual , as it will lead you towards ketu and natural talents if you're not spiritual this might make you withhold anger.
Red+black : very potent for gym environments not for sleeping , might make you agitated
Red+green: hearty energy with give a sense of peace and passion
Red+pink : romantic and passionate energy
Red+blue: will make you see truth in a more profound way , may make you speak up more on social matters
2. Elements :
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c9c5b49b6b05c0f84630671e8d9f9c77/dfbb5d5a481cd4da-69/s540x810/7d1e9a20ab8a6193ab473cb45005c903603b1302.jpg)

Bharani has rajas guna so any gym equipments, sporty stuff , photos of sportspersons , dancers , Nataraj statue , ballet shoes etc are sure to inspire you for more agility To have a control over the natural ugra quality of bharani satvic elements help like photos of waterfall , dim lights, white candles , mogra , Jasmine etc scented diffusers As bharani is neighter an active nor passive but balanced so a balance in the room as well will make you feel ecstatic
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a96fd5a335b7408137e7fc425ba3e505/dfbb5d5a481cd4da-76/s540x810/ca0490a427ef20ac7492b71a55b44e38c113fb4e.jpg)

Being an Artha motivated nakshatra, vision boards on wall , medels and trophies as decoration, inspirational quotes on wall , anything related to manifestation will help you . Bharani falling in the gotta of Vashistha is a posessor of wealth so expensive things which you have earned rightfully and with hardwork will bring you more success. The element of bharani is earth so wood furniture , clay decorations, stones are also great for you , even nature imagery or earthy photographs

How To Walk Your Talk
Hello! It’s been a while. I felt like this slightly ambitious (for me) pick-a-card topic needed a ton of energy and discernment to execute, and so I really took my time with it. I intended it for Aries season but, oh well... Look, another fire season Leo is just around the corner!
Take a breath. Feel free to choose the pile/s that call out to you. Some details may not make the mark and that’s natural, since this is a general reading. Please don’t take it too seriously as well. Nothing is set in stone. My objective has always been to channel messages that may help its readers in any way.
Yes, these are more sunset pictures from my sunset photography cache.
Pile 1
Cards: 5 of Swords, Queen of Cups, Death, 8 of Wands, Page of Cups, 10 of Wands, 7 of Pentacles
Your Talk is about overcoming conflict with other people. You’re proud of being able to defend yourself at all costs, from those who “attack” you and don’t believe in you, in particular. When you do, there’s a winner takes all kind of feeling. Proving yourself against any kind of criticism is a win. You definitely are not one to hold back and, if worse comes to worst, you can cut deep if you feel like you need to.
You think that this is the way to prioritize yourself. The way to show yourself love. It doesn’t seem to matter to you if you end up not having a lot of intimate ties because of this. You believe that the worst betrayal is the betrayal of your own self.
I think this Talk of yours usually comes out when it has all been said and done. Something about you making sure you have the last word. You may wait to strike when the other party has their guard down. You may also want your Talk to have a potent and instantaneous effect on its listener. You tend to make sure there’s no room for them to say more, to potentially dismiss or disprove you. You’ll cut the conversation if you have to.
What you may not realize is that this hurts your objective either way. Yes, you’re an advocate of yourself, but this behavior makes them see you as a “child” who doesn’t really seem to know what they’re saying and thinks little of consequences.
Under this bravado of yours, I sense an expectation to be understood. It may be that a part of you hopes that someone with an x-ray vision meets you with empathy, instead of the dismissal or outright opposition you know so well. Sometimes, other people’s emotions simply do not run as deeply and strongly as yours. What matters to you may be something they don’t personally read too much meaning into.
Pile 1, your Talk seems to be taking a toll on you more than you would like to admit. This kind of vigilance is a lonely burden to carry. Do not get me wrong, though, it has paid off somehow when you learned to protect yourself. You’re impenetrable, but at what cost? You leave out the potential good that can touch you in significant ways.
Spirit urges you to put the sword down for a bit and look around you. You can’t make the most out of your life by always being on the defense. To truly Walk your Talk, you need to uncover the root cause of all this defensiveness. Do you think that being alone is worth turning away the compassion that you can receive? Is that what you really want? Continuing down this path will only push that possibility further away.
Try to look over everything that you have gone through so far, but with curiosity to understand rather than a restless need to justify. I hear a suggestion, to redefine your boundaries. Take a rest, too, Pile 1, I believe you really need it. It will all pay off either way, but there is room for grace that may benefit you more than you could imagine.
Pile 2
Cards: 7 of Cups, 10 of Wands, 2 of Wands, The Hanged Man, 8 of Wands, The Emperor, Death
You think that daydreams get in the way of real life. Fantasy is a way to escape responsibilities and that it ultimately ends up being a burden since it’s technically not really a “way to live.” You think having too many choices is more inconvenient than it is exciting. Most of them are simply distractions, temptations to veer off course.
You may be a really pragmatic person for the most part. For some, though, I see that you are not necessarily repulsed by the rose-tinted perspective, but that this kind of ambition is too much work to actualize. It’s something that would force you to choose between what is necessary and what is ideal. Grounded, longer term goals are more important to you, anyway. Not letting yourself get carried away is an act of bravery to face reality.
I sense that you’re surrounded by people who don’t really agree with your way of thinking. Perhaps a lot of the people around you have quite lofty dreams and, maybe at times, have too much faith in their abilities. You may think that they could learn a thing or two about staying in one’s lane. On the other side of that, they may think that you’re self-righteous and quick to judge. They see you as a person of action and laser focus in your own right, but your Talk about achieving such goals suffers because, well…some goals are idealistic and unlikely by nature. That’s what makes them goals!
As far as it goes, you seem to be really Walking your Talk. To a tee, in fact. A little too firmly, perhaps, to the point where you may be getting complacent.
Something you should know about this Emperor's energy that you have is that, no matter how strictly the Emperor follows a certain system, he would still strive for something beyond him. Why would he need to stick to the current reality if it could be changed and improved? With his power and position, why not seek what would commonly be thought of as “impossible”? What is good, and for good, is always worth a try.
There can be more than logic to make the most out of the goals we form– a touch of compassion on yourself and your circumstances can truly transform those goals into more than ticks off a to-do list, you know? Instead of resisting changes in plans, welcome them as a potential channel for breakthroughs. Even if they entail a little imagination from your part to materialize. Nothing wrong with letting yourself dream a little, Pile 2.
Pile 3
Cards: The Hermit, King of Cups, 8 of Cups, The Star, Justice, The Sun, The Empress
You keep this Talk mostly to yourself. You’re in quite a period of serious introspection, Pile 3. Gathering strength and gaining inner wisdom. You want to master yourself: your inner workings, your emotions, your psyche, the subconscious– and you believe that this is the way. You’re trying to find balance by going within and spending time with yourself.
You carry out this Talk in the times you walk away from things you determine no longer serve you. Things you don’t see developing positively or going anywhere. Leaving behind those spilled and empty cups. For now you have been withdrawing a lot on an intentional and well-meant level. To be honest, the Talk here is Not Talking, and so it manifests that way… through silence. Focusing on what you would like to move ahead towards.
You want people to see this as what it is: your way of healing. You want to be seen as someone taking their time at the moment. There’s a factor of distance, the not wanting to be disturbed by outside energy. Minimizing your availability. This is all about you right now. There is also something about finding yourself that you may have lost connection with at an earlier point. You want to achieve that peace and somehow let that energy seep through and act as its own protective barrier.
And you know what? The people around you believe that you are undergoing what you rightfully need. They see and understand what you’re trying to do. You have their support, and many are even cheering you on from afar. This is such a positive message, Pile 3! They believe it’s a victory in itself to see you in the process of bouncing back. The way you are holding everyone, including yourself, accountable for the things that should be so. They think that events are finally turning in your favor.
Getting The Sun for asking how your Walk looks right now is really one of the best things I have seen for this pick-a-card. It is so lovely to see that this is making you happy. I am happy for you, too! If you’re not quite there yet, trust that you will be. You will find that light you’ve been seeking in the dark depths of yourself that you bravely traversed. I’m telling you, what a shining light it is that you will find. You’re genuinely finding your way back to your inner child. Keep going and they will have more blessings to give you.
If you are feeling up for it, Spirit offers that you can take it up a notch by exploring more ways to nurture your soul. I see letting your imagination expand, creating things with your hands, pampering your body. Whatever has happened, Pile 3, know that it’s not too big for you to overcome. Your Walk is such a profound journey to a revival… You’re very close to experiencing the fruits of your labor. Sending you my warmth, Pile 3!
Pile 4
Cards: Death, Ace of Swords, 8 of Pentacles, 6 of Wands Rx, 5 of Cups, The Hanged Man, The Star
Change starts in your head. Change starts from within. Your Talk is giving me coach or counselor vibes, mostly of the spiritual kind. You may have gone through a major life event at some point in your life, however it applies to you. This may have pushed you then to speak about these major, life-changing events. You think that they are opportunities to grow. Signs to cultivate a new mindset. The best way to ride with it is to be sharp and alert, and to fight with all your might.
You seem to be quite methodical and stubborn about it. I hear you could have catchphrases of some sort, along the lines of “everything happens for a reason,” or that “you can get through anything if you just tried and worked hard enough.” Like I said, you may have experienced such events in your life already and it seems like you’ve seen enough to point out certain patterns. You developed a sense of anticipating how long something may last, where it is likely to lead, what’s next, etcetera.
You want others to see how humbled you are because of these experiences. You want to gain their support, partly because you feel that it solidifies the validation of your Talk. Here’s the thing, though: the insistence of your experiences have been rubbing some people off the wrong way. You’ve been taking your narrative to an unclear length. It’s not your bravery and openness that they have reservations about, but the fact that it’s starting to sound like a broken record. At the end of your anecdotes, what message does it all lead to? Some are getting the impression that you’re stuck in some way with that period in your life instead of presenting solutions or forward steps to move on from it.
I think you see yourself as a champion for these life-changing experiences, to the point where your way of expressing or living out the empowerment you preach seems like an effect of the hold it still has on you. Deep down, you may feel some level of uncertainty to step out from its familiarity. Where were you supposed to go next? Maybe a part of you is also wondering, is this all I'm ever gonna be talking about and be known for?
I can’t help but notice the comparison of the cards Death and The Star: Death, clad in armor, and The Star, shining in their nakedness. Spirit urges you to take off that armor. You don’t have to justify yourself anymore. It won’t always be a battle. Yes, what happened has happened, and it has affected you deeply. It helped you be stronger as a person, but you have to realize that you’re still wielding it in a way. You can’t truly move on even if you simply turned the weapon around– you’re still holding it. There comes a point where you have to take it out of your hands.
Your Talk will become more potent and natural that way. You will find a calm about yourself and this Walk will draw you the support that you need and deserve.
Pile 5
Cards: Ace of Cups, Justice, The Fool, Judgment, 7 of Wands, Knight of Pentacles, The Devil
All is fair in love and war is the first thing I heard. This is seriously your Talk. You’re a go-getter, especially the emotional, creative, watery kind. Not just a go-getter, but a kind of rule-breaker, too. You focus your sights far, far ahead. I’m seeing that you don’t really read too much or think too deeply into most things. When something catches your attention, you just take it and make a run for it, I’m hearing. What an interesting Talk.
You want people to realize how awakened you feel and how liberating it feels in general to be in that mindset. You want people to see how many paths and options it opens up for them. To you, even though it sounds contrary, it actually narrows down and leads to what you really want– and then absolutely taking it at all costs. You see this as a road to inner wisdom and taking responsibility for one's own life. You think this is a primal kind of behavior and it’s only natural to give in to it as humans.
However, people mostly just see that you’re setting yourself up to be in a constant, if not lifelong, struggle. They think you’re too high up in your worldview and that you could be taken down a notch. Even if they won’t necessarily call you out or actively try to humble you, they believe there will always be something or someone to challenge you, and that it’s not really a worthwhile thing to keep up forever.
As far as it’s going right now, your Talk is coming to be your Walk, quite naturally. As chaotic as this mindset is perceived, there is a diligent and grounded way that you’re implementing it. You really believe in its value and it shows in your actions. Not much can shake you about it, I see.
In order to achieve your wants and goals in the best way, Spirit urges you to take some time to look at your shadow. Try to take a look if you’re acting out fully aligned with those goals, or are you simply carried away from the addictive feeling it brings? There’s a benefit to taking everything with a sense of moderation, no matter how you choose to live your life. Is there something deep-seated that you ought to acknowledge, that instead of giving you that “freedom” it could actually be a kind of blockage? Do you really believe that these are the rules of the world or did you impose them on yourself? Reevaluate what freedom is to you.
Pile 6
Cards: Queen of Pentacles, 8 of Wands, 3 of Swords, Knight of Swords, Queen of Swords, Page of Swords, Knight of Cups
You believe that financial stability and reaching certainty in physical comfort are easy come, easy go. One should always be maximizing their time to be productive. Opportunities shouldn’t be wasted and the only things worth aligning with are those that lead to this state of living. Anybody you encounter is a potential for your network. There is no time for sitting back. You should always be ready. Go past or eradicate anything and everything standing in your way.
While your Talk is one that is supposed to be motivating by nature, the way you deliver it seems imbued with an element of fear. “Do this or leave yourself vulnerable. Hardships eventually catch up, so you better keep on moving.” I think you may be one to say that no matter how secure one is, one shouldn’t be chilling out too much. It can easily be lost in a blink of an eye.
You want to be seen as someone who means well and is only doing everything they do to help. You want to be seen as an embodiment of your Talk: always on the move and, for some reason I heard, looks cool while doing it. Willing to do whatever it takes.
Others see that your Talk is clouding quite a bit of your actual vision of it. They do see that you do not give up easily. Your directness is admirable, if not a little bound to the notion of having to always be on the next thing after finishing the previous. You look so far ahead you’re practically living in the future than the present. You’re also hardly paying full attention to the things you currently have, born from all the hard work you’ve put in.
Well, you seem to be using a lot of your words at the moment, I hear. Talking and talking. To people with like-minded goals, and to yourself? I'm getting that it’s because you feel quite flighty at the moment. Are you okay? When was the last time you took a breath? There’s a bit of anxious, running-on-fumes energy. You seem to be highly inspired, though. Bursting with ideas, in fact. For now, these plans mostly stay as plans.
Like all things, balance helps with feeling stable within yourself. Spirit urges you to get in touch with your emotions at the moment. Access what’s behind that flighty energy. You have the goals, the plans, and the direction. What you lack right now is a sense of being grounded enough not to run yourself ragged. Intuition plays a big role in this– yours wants to tell you something. It also won’t hurt to learn how to handle things, especially yourself, with more grace and compassion. Appreciate your ideas as themselves and not just a means to go somewhere else. It’s okay to not think about the goods right now. Think about what genuinely fills your cup.
Thank you for interacting with this post of mine. Always take care of yourself. 💜✨

Celebrating Brenda Cárdenas as Wisconsin’s Poet Laureate!
Today we’re thrilled to celebrate Wisconsin’s new Poet Laureate, Brenda Cárdenas! Cárdenas is the author of 2023’s Trace (Red Hen Press) and Boomerang (Bilingual Press, 2009), as well as several chapbooks. She also served as co-editor of Resist Much/Obey Little: Inaugural Poems to the Resistance, and Between the Heart and the Land: Latina Poets in the Midwest, for which she was recognized by Chicago Women in Publishing. She served as Milwaukee’s Poet Laureate from 2010-2012, and is Professor Emerita of English here at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Cárdenas frequently collaborates with artists in other mediums, and recently her poetry has been set to music by the Greek trio Starwound, and by composer Daniel Alfonso. Much of the work in her recent collection, Trace, highlights her inter-art, inter-textual, ekphrastic practice, as poems recognize the work they respond to, and follow from: prints, paintings, sculptures, photography, film, and other poems. This ekphrastic impulse manifests in incisive, multi-sensory description that surrenders to memory, or imperative, or history, or feeling. Responding to the art of El Anatsui, she demands: “Plant / feet so firm, will takes root. Plant will / so wide, ears sprout ancestral maize.”
Her poems conflate human bodies with material, modern life, and with capital-N-Nature – not a flattening, but an enchantment, as objects, landscapes, people are animated by and through one another: “How many stones did I have / to swallow before my legs / believed their own weight?” Grief over a dead sparrow found in one’s bathtub. Grief over a family drowned in a river seeking a better life. A litany of plastics overwhelming the page and the planet. Playful language of children’s literature – P is for… — juxtaposed with a “blood-splashed underpass” and “peyote tongues.” Religious iconography. A stone that “hissed like a radiator” and chatter that scattered “like mice”.
As Mauricio Kilwein Guevara puts it in the introduction to her 2005 chapbook, From the Tongues of Brick and Stone, “These feathered poems come with heart and lungs, bones, muscles, sinews, claws, and tongue.”

The darkness that endures beneath the earth . . . the disquiet that lingers in the woodland surrounding a forgotten path . . . those ancient traditions and practices that still cling to standing stone circles, earthworks, and abandoned buildings; elaborate rituals that invoke elder gods or nature deities; the restless spirits and legendary creatures that remain connected to a place or object, or exist in deep wells and lonely pools of water, waiting to ensnare the unwary traveler . . . These concepts have been the archetypes of horror fiction for decades, but in recent years they have been given a name: Folk Horror. This type of storytelling has existed for more than a century. Authors Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, H. P. Lovecraft, and M. R. James all published fiction that had it roots in the notion of the supernatural being linked to objects or places “left behind.” All four writers are represented in this volume with powerful, and hopefully unfamiliar, examples of their work, along with newer exponents of the craft such as Ramsey Campbell, Storm Constantine, Christopher Fowler, Alison Littlewood, Kim Newman, Reggie Oliver, and many others. Illustrated with the atmospheric photography of Michael Marshall Smith, the stories in The Mammoth Book of Folk Horror tap into an aspect of folkloric tradition that has long been dormant, but never quite forgotten, while the depiction of these forces as being in some way “natural” in no way detracts from the sense of nameless dread and escalating horror that they inspire . . .

Hanok: The Korean House provides new insights on the stylish traditional Korean homes that are experiencing a resurgence of popularity in Seoul today. While the exteriors of these houses are indistinguishable from traditional hanok built decades ago, the insides have entirely changed and adapted with the times. Korea is a nation that has radically transformed itself in recent decades, yet amidst the glass-and-steel skyscrapers and luxury apartments, the Korean design of the hanok still survives and plays a surprisingly important role. This book showcases 12 very special hanok that have been selected to reflect the Korea of today.
The original hanok design has not changed. Traditional craftsman-made materials of stone, wood, and clay are still the only components used in these houses. They also incorporate natural elements such as wind and sunlight, and baesanimsu (better known in its Chinese form as feng shui) is used to position the hanok in harmony with the natural forces and geographical features of the site. Each hanok has a unique story to tell, and this book studies the personality of each house from the point of view of its owners, many of whom are talented devotees of Korean architecture themselves.
Each of the Korean homes in Hanok: The Korean House was thoughtfully researched and photographed with the intention of giving the reader a feel for a culture reconciling its modern tendencies with its traditional roots.

Going to be blogging here with my think pieces bc I want to be off Ig more
I love the appeal of the American Gothic and have for many years. There was a long time it resonated with me because its harrowing images of a cross hailing over these pockets of a failed American dream. Poverty and violence hammering down a God fearing, repressive and resentful community. I saw myself in that- abstaining and howling. Hungry and never indulging.
I clung to these narratives of despair, the aching beauty in the horrors of trauma. Our mother's quiet rage, our father's apparent fury. It mirrors home, it mirrors the suffering that is felt in these sacrifice zones, in these places lost to exploitation of the land and its people. It is the consequence of being collateral in capitalism. There are so many layers to peel back. It feels self destructive almost to seek out these kind of aesthetics. Its a beautiful and startling outlet to be able to do photoshoots and write poetry capturing these heavy emotions I feel, but it is painful work.
What is the natural conclusion to nihilism? Suicide or existentialism maybe, at least from what I've observed. I've gone through the motions, moved through existential, absurdism, stoicism... i can go on and on. Where is this going? I feel like I'm running this blog and beating a dead horse. Indulging in a phase of my life I may have moved on from. Clinging to the narrative I no longer want to live by. There is beauty in the violence, this will always be familiar to me and these heavy emotions may never leave me, but I feel a need to move forward anyway.
Its not all in vain by any means. In my time exploring my identity through the lens of the American Gothic I've been able to establish a stronger connection to my roots, my family and the land we inhabit. Its funny how you grow up resentful of a place and now I have so much respect for it. I was angry at my community for a long time, but I see them with more clarity now. Being able to explore that rage through photography and literature has been so liberating.
Perhaps there are some stones unturned: female power, female wolf archetypes, and wild women may be the next phase if I continue on the path of capturing the American Gothic. But for now I'm listening to this song, thinking about my own inclination to wandering and searching.
#just thinking aloud#please tell me if this resonates with anyone#excited to explore wild femininity#i was even reluctant to post my last poem bc. I don't necessarily feel like that anymore. But i still liked it anyway

The trend predictions are in! Kitchen design experts are dishing on the coming year's top kitchen color trends. The consensus is that warm tones, rich shades, and natural materials will reign in 2025, replacing cool hues and muted color selections. "Today’s buyers are looking for a kitchen with warmth and character, as opposed to the stark bright-white aesthetics that have dominated previous years," says Briana Gershenzon, partner and chief of design at Renovation Sells. Designers see warm earth tones—specifically shades of brown, deep green, rich burgundy, and calming navy blue hues—dominating kitchen color palettes this year. Layering textures and materials will be big too, as evidenced by the mixed metals, statement backsplashes, metallic accents, and honed finishes that experts say will define 2025's kitchens. Whether you're planning to give your existing kitchen a refresh or you're starting from scratch and designing a brand new kitchen, here are the top color trends for 2025 according to experts. Nathan Schroder Photography 1. Warm Earth Tones Are Trending "Earth tones and colors found in nature have been on the rise, but we see them really dominating in 2025," says Shae Wilder, director of design relations at BlueStar. After many years of cool tones being the go-to, kitchen design is leaning towards warmer, deeper, earth-rooted hues such as brown, mushroom, and clay. This shift towards a warmer color palette is part of the larger overall trend of connecting to nature and bringing the outdoors in. "Shades like terracotta, mustard, and rich greens, complemented by natural materials such as wood and stone, create an inviting, grounded atmosphere that fosters a deeper connection with nature," says Gideon Mendelson, founder and creative director of Mendelson Group. He adds that these shades, in addition to rich rust, warm clay, and burnt umber, will also be prevalent in 2025 as part of the '70s color trend that's bringing retro hues back to the forefront. An earthy paint color on kitchen cabinets can set a warm and welcoming tone, but it can also serve as a neutral backdrop for more dramatic accents. "This backdrop of deep warmth provides the perfect opportunity for homeowners to introduce more vibrant countertop options," Gershenzon says. Earth Tones Designers Recommend for Kitchens: Deep tones like mushroom and earthy clayWarm sand tones that reflect light and create an open and airy kitchenMoody nature-inspired hues such as terracotta, burnt umber, and mustardShades of brown for a warm-toned alternative to grayShades of green for a refreshing yet grounded nature-inspired aesthetic Joyelle West 2. Brown Will Be the "It" Neutral Speaking of earth-rooted hues, brown has emerged as a surprising color trend, and designers predict it will be the "it" neutral this year. Wilder says the color brown has been "patiently waiting on the sidelines," will continue to grow in popularity in 2025. Kitchen product manufacturers have taken note of the color trend; BlueStar even named Signal Brown as their 2025 Color of the Year. Commenting on the resurgence of warm color palettes in kitchens, Wilder says, "The overall demand for sustainability and our growing need to feel more connected to nature make brown another color that rises from the past." When it comes to specific shades of brown to incorporate into your kitchen design, she recommends any shade that works with your personal design style. "The brown interior color trend will be represented by dark brown, chocolate brown, cinnamon, caramel, and terracotta," she says. Shades of Brown Designers Recommend: Dark brownChocolate brownCinnamonCaramelTerracotta Blaine Moats 3. Statement Backsplashes and Metallic Accents Will Be In Classic white subway tile dominated backsplash designs for many years, but experts are predicting statement backsplashes will be making an appearance in 2025. "We’re noticing more bold, statement backsplashes selected for kitchens," says Kiara Perdomo, director of product development at Nemo Tile + Stone. "Think large-format tiles, mirrored finishes, or unique patterns that stretch from counter to ceiling," she says. If you want to stick with a classic cabinet color, a backsplash is the perfect spot to have fun with a more dramatic design. It's not as large a commitment—both financially and installation-wise—as cabinetry, yet it can completely transform the space. Perdomo shares that metallic accents will also be big in the coming year. "Subtle metallic details in tiles, especially in mosaics or border tiles, add a touch of glam to any space," she says. Metals are a great way to introduce a subtle pop of shine into your kitchen, whether through practical accessories such as trays or more integral elements like cabinet pulls. "Many homeowners are seeking a more live-in, cozy feeling for their kitchens, which can be achieved by adding unique accessories or accent colors, such as bronze and metallic finishes, through hardware, lighting, and countertop storage solutions," says Barbara Vargas, product specialist at Nobilia North America. Backsplash Trends Designers Recommend: Large-scale tilesMirrored finishesMetallic details and bordersUnique patterns Chad Mellon 4. Shades of Blue Will Be Popular Multiple shades of blue have been selected as paint brands' 2025 Color of the Year and designers predict this color trend will spill over to kitchen design. "I love using blues to invoke a sense of calm or a connection to the outdoors within a room, and I think they pair nicely as accents with a variety of different colors and styles," Mendelson says. Whether you opt for a dark navy blue shade in a traditional kitchen or a soft powder blue that embraces coastal style, blues may be a current trend, but they'll never go out of style. Vargas suggests pairing blue with white for a timeless look. "White matches everything and makes it easy to decorate a space, while blue brings depth to the design, transitioning from a clean look to a bold yet conservative, timeless scheme," she says. Color plays a huge role in the overall atmosphere in a room and Mendelson says, "Blue can evoke a calming, serene feeling and I love how different shades can influence the overall feel of a space." Jared Kuzia 5. There Will Be a Shift Toward Natural Wood Cabinets and Work Surfaces "Natural materials remain prevalent in 2025, helping homeowners create a perfect balance between their love of nature and modern design," Vargas says. When it comes to selecting kitchen work surfaces, she recommends solid oak and walnut, as well as vertical wood-grained elements. Painted cabinets were a modern update to the warm-toned oak cabinetry that was a staple throughout the '90s, but experts are seeing the pendulum swing back towards exposed natural wood. "There is a noticeable shift from painted cabinets to warm, natural woods, particularly with sleek lines for a contemporary yet warm feel," Perdomo explains. Natural Wood Tones Designers Recommend: Astrid Templier 6. Deep and Rich Paint Colors Will Be Making a Statement As part of a larger design trend, experts predict that rich tones will be replacing understated neutrals in 2025. "Rich, deep colors like olive green, burgundy, and navy blue are trending in kitchen designs," Vargas says, adding that these saturated hues pair beautifully with gold or brass accents that give kitchens a luxurious feel. Green is another paint color Vargas believes will continue to stand out in 2025 kitchen designs. If you want to incorporate green but are afraid of it being too bold, she suggests going with a more muted shade of sage green that adds depth without overwhelming the room. Commenting on the deep color trend, Vargas says, "These hues offer a bold contrast to the neutral tones that have dominated kitchens in the past." Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors Designers Recommend: Olive green Sage greenBurgundyNavy blue Joyelle West 7. Mixed Metals Will Enjoy Continued Popularity There's been a departure from matchy-matchy kitchen designs in recent years, and Wilder predicts this will be a continued trend for metal elements. "I think we’ll keep seeing the rise of mixed metals in kitchens; they have been on the scene for years, but we will begin to see even more metallic influences," she says. Metals in a kitchen include everything from cabinet hardware and lighting to sink fixtures and door knobs. While mixing metals adds visual interest and creates a more thoughtful, layered look, it also makes the process of selecting items easier. "Mixed metals can offer relief to the specifier since, often, it can be very challenging matching finishes from different manufacturers," Wilder explains. Taking a mixed metal approach allows you to specify different finishes that complement each other rather than trying to match finishes that end up clashing because they're similar but not identical, and therefore appear like a mistake. Jared Kuzia 8. Honed Finishes and Natural Materials Will Be Prioritized When it comes to countertop surfaces, experts predict that warmth will be a key draw in 2025 selections. "Honed and leathered countertops will remain a top choice in 2025 because of the warmth and 'lived-in' feel they bring to kitchens and bathrooms," Gershenzon says. This is because unlike polished surfaces which can look and feel cold and sterile, these matte finishes add depth and introduce softness into a kitchen. Natural stone countertops are an investment, however they are durable, timeless, and an excellent way to update and elevate an existing kitchen. As for specific picks for 2025, Gershenzon shares Taj Mahal quartzite and Dolce Vita Dolomite as standout options. "Both materials embody the broader movement toward natural, textural finishes that infuse character and authenticity into modern homes," she says. Kitchen Countertop Trends Designers Recommend: Honed countertopsLeathered countertopsNatural, textured finishesTaj Mahal quarziteDolce Vita Dolomite Jay Wilde 9. Classic Kitchen Colors Will Never Go Out of Style There's a reason classic kitchen colors will never go out of style—they have timeless appeal and span eras, design styles, and architectural elements. "Choosing kitchen cabinet finishes can be a daunting task for some homeowners, and while we're seeing more and more people opt for warm neutrals, white will never be far from the conversation," says Bob Bakes, co-founder and head of design at Bakes & Kropp. For timeless kitchen color selections, he suggests pairing a soft gray or a muted, gentle blue with walnut for what he says is, "a classic look that withstands ever-changing trends." Commenting on the deep color trend, Vargas says, "These hues offer a bold contrast to the neutral tones that have dominated kitchens in the past." Mixed Metals Will Enjoy Continued Popularity There's been a departure from matchy-matchy kitchen designs in recent years, and Wilder predicts this will be a continued trend for metal elements. For timeless kitchen color selections, he suggests pairing a soft gray or a muted, gentle blue with walnut for what he says is, "a classic look that withstands ever-changing trends." The trend predictions are in!
