This animatic was quite difficult for me, considering that I feel the song to some extent. The idea with Philip and Hamilton was born almost immediately when this song spread and at the first opportunity I decided to sketch it all, even if a little differently than I originally wanted

This idea struck me weeks ago. I was so close to not indulging it, but. Y’know how it is.

Thinking about the parallels between Hamilton and Odysseus (musical and irl wise). How the both of them loved their sons more than anything in the world and how they wanted nothing but to see them grow into bright young men.

How Odysseus despite all his attempts had to leave his family behind to fight in the war and miss watching his son grow up for twenty years. How Alexander got to watch his son grow into the perfect boy (for him atleast lol) and then reach adulthood. How Odysseus finally got home after all those years and got to see his son, safe and sound, just as how he had hoped for him to be. How Alexander had to watch his son get injured gravely and attend his own child's funeral. How Odysseus after suffering through everything got to spend the rest of his mortal life with his son wife. How Philip Hamilton was shot to death at the age of nineteen leaving his father heartbroken.

How Odysseus' love for his son (and wife) got him home and fixed the broken cracks in his family. How Alexander's love for his son finally broke his already broken family apart.
