⟶  OIKAWA pretends he didn’t hear you the first time. “sorry, what was that?” he asks, already smiling. “can you say that a little louder?” when you say “tooru” again, he’ll laugh a little, saying that he didn’t know hearing his name would make him this happy. if you call him by his last name later on, he’ll definitely ignore you – if he’s talking to you, oikawa’s only going by tooru from now on.

⟶  BOKUTO gets the widest grin on his face when he hears you say “koutarou.” he’s freaking out because it feels like such a significant milestone in your relationship together. after bokuto says your name back to you, you two are repeating your names to each other until they sound like nonsense, and he brightens up every time you call him by his first name.

→  NISHINOYA is chattering about something when you laugh and tell him “slow down, yu.” a few seconds go by before he realizes you just called him by his first name. he asks you to say it a few more times, and even though he’s never thought his first name suited him much, he can’t imagine anything sounding more perfect in your voice. he insists you continue saying “yu” from now on, and he perks up whenever he hears you call his name. 

→  AONE pauses for a moment, and his hand goes to the back of his neck so he can stop himself from reaching for you. he’s been wanting you to call him by his first name for a long time. when he finally hears you say “takanobu,” he has to hide how happy he feels. he didn’t know a single word from you could make him feel like this. (he tells you later that that it’ll be too confusing if in the future you’re both called aone, won’t it?)

→  KUROO doesn’t even try to hide how excited he is. he’s not too surprised since he’s been pestering you to call him tetsurou since he realized he was in love you, but it’s different actually hearing it from you. after he gets over his initial rush of joy, he’ll grin and tease you about trying to find the right timing for it. he loves that you call him tetsurou because it just reinforces how close you two are, and he’s never felt happier.

→  SAKUSA is only ever called his first name by his immediate family – friends and teammates usually stick to “sakusa” and some variation of “omi” – so he’s surprised when he hears you say “kiyoomi.” when you see the shock on his face, you might revert back to his last name, but he’ll ask you to call him kiyoomi again. he’s glad you’re comfortable enough with him to do so, and hearing his first name sounds like the most natural thing in the world when it’s coming from you.

→  TSUKISHIMA isn’t willing to admit his own feelings until you slip on the floor and land on top of him. he thinks your face brushes his own, and the soft feeling of your lips on his makes his heart stutter.

he knows he can’t deny his feelings anymore when you blink at him, apologizing profusely. tsukishima mutters, “don’t apologize. i liked that.”

→  KUROO is bending down while holding open the door for you, and when you turn to thank him, he feels your lips on the corner of his mouth. you’re wide-eyed, stammering out what he thinks might be apology.

kuroo just smirks, letting the door fall shut behind you two. “let’s do that properly,” he says.

→  BOKUTO has been wanting to kiss you forever. the opportunity comes when you accidentally lean in too close and fall forward. he steadies you in his arms just a moment too late; your lips have already met his.

“wow,” he says breathlessly, the words slipping out of his mouth before he can stop them. “i-will you kiss me again?”

→  SAKUSA catches you when you fall, and your lips brush his over his mask. you two are both wide-eyed, staring into each other’s eyes, and you can hear his quick intake of breath.

“sorry about that,” you say, expecting him to let go of you since you’ve invaded his personal space.

instead, sakusa’s grip on you tightens, and he only murmurs, “that’s... that’s okay. this is perfectly fine with me.”

→  OIKAWA gasps and slides in front of you. he makes a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be, but you accidentally exposing yourself to everyone is the last thing he wants. he’ll shamelessly watch you take your sweater off in front of him, though... is it getting hotter, or is it just him?

→  AKAASHI gently tugs your sweater back down. he explains that you were close to taking off both shirts, and he’ll hold down your undershirt for you as you take off your actual sweater. he’s a little embarrassed that his first instinct was to touch you, but neither of you mind.

→  USHIJIMA tells you your shirt is stuck to your sweater. he doesn’t mince words because he really doesn’t want you accidentally flashing anyone (except maybe him). later, he’ll keep an eye out in case it happens again.

→  SUNA uses his hands and covers up your stomach. it’s not totally effective, but it’s enough to get you to stop taking off your sweater. his hands are large, though, so they manage to cover a good amount. suna might blush and laugh nervously when he feels your body heat so close.

→  USHIJIMA has no idea when someone is flirting with him. social cues are completely lost on him – that person says they like his muscles? he says he can give them his gym routine if they want, but most of it’s from volleyball. someone else tries to give them his number? it’s alright, they can reach him equally well via email. you could tell him straight up that someone’s flirting with him and he still wouldn’t take the hint.

→  SUNA catches on quick when someone’s flirting with him, but that doesn’t mean he makes it known to the other person. he’ll act like he’s oblivious just to see their reaction and show off that he already has you, so he’s not at all interested. definitely invites whoever’s flirting with him to hang out on a date with you and him, just to mess with them. 

→  KAGEYAMA dodges flirting attempts left and right because he doesn’t even realize it’s happening. he overthinks what flirting is and doesn’t realize that casual interest constitutes flirting – for kageyama, if they’re not literally on top of him, they’re probably just being nice. when he brings up his s/o and sees the person’s reaction change, he probably thinks it’s because they like you, not him. well-intentioned but not the brightest when it comes to this kind of thing.

→  AONE just doesn’t think anyone would be flirting with him. even when it’s really obvious, he comes up with some kind of excuse on his own to explain why, as outlandish as those excuses may be. he loves talking about you in general, so he definitely brings you up to whoever’s flirting with him without even realizing that they don’t exactly want to hear about his s/o. despite all that, he’s very sensitive and flustered when he thinks you’re flirting with him.

→  IWAIZUMI genuinely thinks that a) they’re just being unusually friendly, or b) they’re trying to get oikawa’s number. somehow, he doesn’t realize that he’s pretty popular. regularly gets lots of confessions, but he still wonders why people from his group projects keep on messaging him separately and asking if he’s free. at least 10 people have asked his friends if iwaizumi’s single. 

→  KENMA doesn’t get too many people persistently flirting with him because he’s blunt about who he likes and doesn’t like. still, on the occasion that it happens, he’ll take whatever they give him – chocolate, tickets to a movie, whatever – and say, “my s/o would love this, thanks” with a completely straight face. 

+  bonus: absolutely not OIKAWA, who thinks everyone is flirting with him. that guy who held open the door for him one time? love at first sight. the cashier who helped him at the self check-out? positively infatuated. the classmate from his lecture who made eye contact with him? probably daydreams about him. (oikawa accidentally flirts with them in response because he doesn’t know how else to react.)

→  KUROO is shy with physical affection until he realizes that touch makes you feel happier and less lonely – once he figures that out, he’ll be all over you. he thinks it’s cute that you’re shy about it, and he has a habit of putting his arms around your waist and hugging you from behind while you two are hanging out or sleeping

→  BOKUTO is very touchy when you two start dating, but he doesn’t realize that you’re touch-starved until a little later on. he’s happy to be the one initiating physical affection between the two of you and loves wrapping you in his arms; all his hugs make up for how shy you can be about it. 

→  SEMI realizes you’re a little touch-starved because you seem to be trying to simulate touch all the time – hugging pillows, taking long warm showers, wrapping yourself up in a blanket. he’s glad that he can help you destress and relax through touch, so he’ll do his best to replace all those methods you used to use.

i’m so sorry i completely misread this request and thought it said “which haikyuu boys would use you as their phone wallpaper” (TT_TT) so i’ll answer your actual ask in a post right after this one!!! 

most likely to use you as their phone wallpaper ♡

→  OIKAWA has a whole photo album in his camera roll dedicated to photos of you, so he has a lot to choose from. he likes the ones where you’re smiling, but he’ll change the lockscreen regularly to match his phone’s aesthetic if he’s moved his apps or widgets around. always picks out ones where he looks good – he claims you look good in all the photos – to use as his lockscreen. 

→  ATSUMU definitely puts a photo of you and him together. he chooses whatever recent photo catches his eye, something where both of you look hot. his whole motivation is that he wants other people to be jealous when they look at his phone. the wallpaper he chooses for his home screen is some photo of you that’s really soft and cute photo (for his eyes only).

→  BOKUTO always shows people his phone screen whenever he changes the wallpaper (it’s you every single time; his teammates are sick of seeing pictures of you at this point). he just wants to show off two things: 1) he’s dating someone, and 2) that person is you. he makes a big show of unlocking his phone so people will notice, and his screen time settings show that he spends at least 30 minutes per day on his lockscreen.

→  SUNA likes ones where you look like a meme: maybe you with a clay skincare mask – things like snapchats that were meant to disappear but ended up being screenshot by him – and it only encourages him to leave it up if you tell him to change the wallpaper. he takes a lot of photos of you two doing random things. most of them are blurry or have bad lighting, but he likes them anyway, just because you’re in them.

→  KUROO does a photo of you two messing around together. he likes the ones where you two are making weird expressions, things like mirror selfies and you two taking self-timer photos in random places he loves having candid photos of you two as his wallpaper because it brings to mind the times you’re together. 

→  DAICHI asks you to choose a photo of you two together that you like so he can use it as his lockscreen. he wouldn’t put a photo you didn’t like. he doesn’t overtly show it off when he unlocks his phone, but he’s always happy whenever someone asks who’s in his background.

→  IWAIZUMI doesn’t really get why you like his back. still, he thinks it’s cute, especially when you ask him to turn around if he’s changing or taking his shirt off. if you hug him from behind and rest your head on his back with your arms around him, he’ll melt. 

→  KUROO finds it adorable that you like that part of him because he’d never paid much attention to it before. he finds it comforting when your fingers trace over his back, but he’ll joke that he has other parts that you might find more appealing.

→ BOKUTO is so pleased when you comment on how broad or muscular his back is. he’d really appreciate you massaging his back, too, especially when he’s had a rough practice, and he might specifically work on his back muscles at the gym because he knows you like them.

→  ATSUMU loves it because it’s an ego boost to him, and he understands since he probably has a part of you that he loves inordinately, too. he might make a show of rolling back his shoulders or stretching his neck in front of you to show off his muscles, smirking when he feels your eyes on him.

⟶ KUROO annoys you. if he feels like you should be paying attention to him, he pokes you in the arm over and over, asking you what you could possibly have that’s more important than he is. he’ll call you nicknames that gradually get weirder and more niche until you give in, and he’s triumphant.

best to worst at meeting their s/o’s parents

→  DAICHI is the ideal guy to bring home. he’s well-mannered, charms all people middle-aged and older, and flatters your parents without seeming disingenuous. after he’s left, they’re already asking when the wedding will be.

→  KITA has no flaws. if they try to test him, he passes every single challenge with flying colors. he even offers to clean up the table and wash the dishes afterwards, and he does it perfectly.

→  KUROO puts away the irritating parts of personality and is on best behavior in front of your parents. they’re dubious of his hair at first, but he wins them over because he seems smart and responsible. good for him.

→  OSAMU knows exactly what to say. since he seems calm and composed on the outside even if he’s internally freaking out, your parents are impressed by his maturity. (little do they know how he acts with you, atsumu, or his teammates.)

→  IWAIZUMI isn’t intimidated or put off by anything that happens, no matter what kind of mishap occurs. the dinner ends up being terrible? he’ll eat every bite, straight-faced. you spill a drink on his lap? no worries, he grabs a towel and assures everyone that it’s not a big deal; he never liked this pair of paints much anyways.

→  HINATA is really nervous. he’s practically green when he first shows up to meet your parents. lucky for him, he’s really good at genuinely flattering people even though he does almost throw up at the dinner table. overall, it turns out okay.

→  OIKAWA could go one of two ways: 1) your parents are absolutely charmed by him and want to adopt him as their own, or 2) they think he seems overly flirty and sleazy, and they warn you that he’ll break your heart. it’s about a 50-50 chance with him.

→  BOKUTO has boundless energy and excitement that’s difficult to dislike. the only problem is that if he goes in moody emo mode, your parents might wonder where that happy person they’d heard you were dating went.

→  TSUKISHIMA just doesn’t seem very enthusiastic about anything. your parents might try to test his devotion to you and find that it’s unwavering, but it almost seems like he’s resigned to the fact that you two are dating. at least you tried, tsukki.

→  ATSUMU tries really hard to be well-liked, but he’s not the kind of guy who’s easily liked by adults. he comes off like he’s hiding something, so they’re on guard the entire time. if he would calm down and stop trying to show off, maybe it’d go a little better.

→  KAGEYAMA keeps on stuttering and looking awfully angry whenever he says something confirming how much he likes you. it’s not like it even goes poorly’ it’s just painfully awkward for everyone present.

→  KENMA looks like he’d rather be anywhere but there, meeting your parents. his replies are half-hearted at best and he keeps on fidgeting with his phone in his pocket. weird vibes, and your parents aren’t impressed.

May I request hc’s of Aone, Mad Dog, and Ushijima having a sweet, angelic s/o that’s very soft to them and calls them cute nicknames and it surprises the team cuz they didn’t know or expect it? Like imagine these intimidating ass dudes being wrapped around the finger of someone who calls them “Sweetie”, “Honey”, or “Bubba”, just the funniest and cutest thing. They prolly forgot their lunch or they’re partner just wants to see them practice and it makes them play better

→  AONE is truly a softie, but being 190+ cm with a constant expression of irritation doesn’t make him look like it. still, he’ll get so smiley when you visit him at practice. the rest of date tech is used to him melting for you, but other teams seeing him coo over his sweet s/o are absolutely bewildered. when you give him a cute bento wrapped in a cute pink furoshiki handkerchief and say “bye, sweetie!” it’s the cherry on top.

→  KYOUTANI looks like he’s angry all the time. the only time the furrow between his eyebrows smooths out and he starts to smile is when you come to see him. all the other seijoh teammates are surprised every time it happens because mad dog is smiling? really??? but for you, he’ll do anything you ask. be called “honey?” peace signs during selfies? hugs and kisses? endearing pet names? kyoutani does it all. 

→  USHIJIMA is usually completely stoic, but he’ll break into a grin when he sees you peeking into the shiratorizawa gym. the other third years know he’s very soft for you – ushijima calls you an angel all the time during chats in the locker room – but the first and second years are taken aback. they’ve never seen him smiling before, much less seen their intimidating top ace patting his s/o on the head and being called “sweetheart” rather than “ushijima-san.”
