I’m so sad to hear about Quentin passing. I know he was ill with cancer but it’s still sad. He was an amazing Phantom and a funny man. When I saw the US Restaged tour in 2019, my sister was friends with the Raoul understudy and the guy playing Firmin so I got to go backstage. It wasn’t just a simple meet and greet. We spent a good 30 minutes back there because my sister was chatting it up with her friends when Quentin just walked up to our group. He walked right up next to me, smiled and said, “Hey!” I was starstruck because his Phantom had me bawling like a baby but I also didn’t want to embarrass my sister in front of her friends. You see my sister was an actor and had done shows with these people so to her they were just co-workers and friends, she was gracious enough to be like “My sister is a little obsessed with this show and wants to come back stage.”

So I just looked up at Quentin, smiled back and said “You were amazing!” I wanted to take pictures but instead I just pretended to be one of the cool kids listening to their conversations and laughing. Quentin told a story of how one time he repeated what Hugh Panaro did with sticking Norm Lewis’ picture into his make up by sticking Norm Lewis’ picture into his make up.

The world lost a great talent with him.

Linda Balgord has passed away. Among her credits, she portrayed Madame Giry on the Restaged US Tour and Broadway from 2013-16.

I always hated this pose in the restaged tour. and it's so prevalent in promotion too...

this pose/expression doesn't make the phantom look intimidating/cool it makes him look childish and ugly in a bad way with his head tilted up and mouth wide open.

Is it me or does the blindfold really, really bother anyone else? I find it absolutely terrifying. Not sexy, not sensual, but terrifying.

The Costume so far…….. (I have no stage make up on in this video).

I now Have a cape! Thank you PLB for all your help! (The cape is based off an Opera Cloak/ Cape rather than the stage version with the arm loop bits. More like the restaged UK tour cape with the glass Jazzy bead work) based on a version of a late Victorian/Edwardian cloak Referenced from the V&A Museum.

Sadly still unfinished with a fair deal of work to do on it,

Items that need amending.

1.) Fedora needs a larger brim it's too small.

2.) velvet needs to be added to the tailcoat

3.) need to work on Applying make up.

4.) Getting the wig shaped and styled.

5.) need a inlay piping line effect on the tailcoat, waistcoat and a stripes down the trouser seams.

As a perfectionist and a lover of theatrical costume this venture is exiting.

But it's looking Ok 70% Completed.

Going for the more 2000-2010 London Phantom style.

in honor of the italian production closing in monte carlo tonight, here's an audio gift of the full the phantom of the opera in milan, october 21st 2023's afternoon show!

also some notes because i thought it was a juicy performance, and as far as i know no videos of the milan run exist:

vinny's raoul is a sweetheart but also the king of flapping that long coat like it's a cape. so dramatic

anna corvino has grown way more comfortable with carlotta and was having so much fun tormenting christine during "il muto"

there's applause and some noise during the last section of masquerade because after a brief darkness the lights turned on to reveal the cast had come down among the audience, while confetti fell from the ceiling

ramin sank to his knees after the kiss and remained there for a looong while, in a daze. then he noticed raoul had gone limp and jumped to his feet to take the noose off him, in a "no wait he can't die now i can't have that anymore" way

in this production (like in the restaged uk tour) the phantom has his back to christine when she returns the ring, and delivers the "i love you" not knowing she's there. now, it wasn't done like this in trieste, but at least when i went in milan when raoul says it to christine in act I she has already started to leave the rooftop and he's still on his knees, so he also says it while having his back turned to her... the parallel becomes visual as well. exactly the same blocking. how fun :')
