Just to Know!
FATF (Financial Action Task Force) has released a report titled-”Crowdfunding for Terrorism Financing”, highlighting that violent extremist organizations have employed well-structured networks for fundraising purposes.
The report makes a reference to the Popular Front of India (PFI) as having resorted to solicitation for funds at mosques and public places, which were ultimately used to procure arms and ammunition and for training the cadres.
Crowdfunding is a dynamic fundraising method that leverages online platforms to gather small contributions from a large pool of individuals for various purposes such as supporting charitable causes, funding startup ventures, or financing creative projects.
The PFI collected funds through solicitation at religious places, such as mosques, and public spaces.
Funds raised through crowdfunding were not limited to a single purpose. A portion of the collected funds was invested in businesses and real estate projects, aiming to generate a regular income for the organization's terrorist activities.
The report places the issue of crowdfunding for terrorism financing in a global context. It highlights that while most crowdfunding activities are legitimate, terrorist organizations like ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) and Al-Qaeda have exploited these platforms to raise money for their activities.
The FATF report emphasizes the need for consistent Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) regulations on a global scale.

The Congress government has committed this sin,” PM Modi during a rally in Udaipur
PM Modi on Thursday accused Congress government in Rajasthan of being “sympathetic to terrorists”, and said that the appeasing nature of the ruling party can prove lethal to the state. He also said that the frequently occurring terror incidents, including the murder of Kanhaiya Lal last year, are incidents that could harm the heritage of the state.
During an election rally in Udaipur, while addressing the crowd, PM Modi said, “The terror act in which Kanhaiya Lal was killed in Udaipur is a blot on the Congress government. This heinous crime took place because a party that sympathizes with terrorists is in power.”
The number of such shameful acts in the recent time in Rajasthan has been high, he added.
On June 28, 2022, the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal made national news headlines. It was a revenge crime where two assassins murdered the tailor for showing support to BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who had made contentious remarks earlier.
PM Modi also addressed the state government's decision to impose a ban on the Ram Navami procession and Kanwar Yatra while allowing the Popular Front of India (PFI) to hold rallies. “Who would have thought that such a situation would arise here… The Congress government has committed this sin,” he said.
Mr. Modi also addressed the issue of migration wherein it has been noticed that several people from the poor areas of the state are moving to other states. The PM said that if Congress remained in power, more people would migrate, vacating Rajasthan.
Finally, counting Congress’s list of failures, Modi said, “In the fight for the chair, Congress lost sight of public issues”. “The sole agenda of the Congress is to loot the State and fill its coffers. The party could not survive without corruption,” he added.

Cong's 'Ban Card' Ahead Of Karnataka Polls - 2nd May 2023
Congress seems attempting to polarize the polity by resorting to incomprehensible virtue signaling. What am I talking about? Today in its manifesto, Congress draws a parallel between the banned terrorist organization the PFI and the Bajrang Dal. Recently, the PFI was banned by the Centre for being a terror organization, for being an organization that is promoting Islamist hate throughout the country. Congress clearly wants to call out Islamist separatism but not without doing a hypocritical balancing act. Strangely Congress has never ever moved the court to call for a ban on the Hindu group. The Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Bajrang Dal are two groups that have been accused of "spreading hatred" among communities on the basis of caste and religion, and the Congress pledged to take firm and decisive action against them, including banning them, in its manifesto for the May 10 Karnataka assembly elections. With just over a week till the assembly elections in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the BJP's attack on the Congress on Tuesday for suggesting a ban on the Bajrang Dal in its electoral manifesto. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. “Congress is polarising the electorate,” stated Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, BJP national spokesperson.
