Adventurous

Previously Unaired Christmas Pezberry. Oneshot. Thought I’d share here :)

Santana Lopez and Rachel Berry sat closely on the couch in Rachel’s Bushwick apartment. It was Christmastime and Rachel couldn’t be happier that Santana had showed up for a surprise holiday visit.

“I can’t believe Kurt’s hooking up with Studly Claus”, Santana joked.

Rachel smiled a boozy, content smile. “Me neither. This is totally out of character for him. But it’s cool, right? Maybe this is the right time to be adventurous. And that’s why…” she trailed off, turning her head toward Santana and batting her eyelashes.

“Berry, I can’t. You know I can’t.” Santana shook her head and started swirling her drink, looking at it intently so as to avoid eye contact with her more ambitious friend.

“You can, though!” Rachel declared. “I know your mom; she wants you to be happy! Look at all this money she gave you- she said you could go to New York if you wanted, and this is what you want! The Santana I know would follow her dreams.”

“No,” Santana responded, giving Rachel her most condescending tone. “The Santana you know finishes what she starts, and I can’t justify being a college drop-out. I want to graduate. You know I’ve always been a good student.” She stood up quickly and walked into the kitchen, leaving Rachel sitting on the couch.

Santana stood still at the counter with her head down for a moment before Rachel noticed that something was wrong.

“Hey,” she said, jumping off of the couch and heading into the kitchen. As she got closer she could tell that Santana was silently crying. “What’s wrong? Don’t cry.” Rachel stood next to Santana at the counter and started rubbing her back, and Santana started crying harder.

“I hate Louisville. I don’t want to go back after Christmas break. I hate it so much.”

Rachel grabbed Santana by the shoulders and turned her so they were face to face. “You don’t have to go back, Santana. Come sit down.” Santana took Rachel’s hand tentatively and they walked hand-in-hand back over to the couch.

Rachel sat down next to Santana. “Here, put your head on my lap.”

Santana sighed and laid down on Rachel’s lap, secretly enjoying how good it felt when Rachel started playing with her hair.

“I just don’t know what I’m doing. I love New York. I feel like I can be myself here. I know this is where I’m supposed to be, but I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing with my life.” Santana sounded more coherent with each word that came out, and Rachel knew they might be able to have a real conversation at this point.

“That’s the beauty of New York, Santana,” Rachel remarked as she continued running her fingers through Santana’s thick, shiny hair. “New York will answer those questions for you. And then you wouldn’t be alone! You’d have me and Kurt. We’d have so much fun! Kurt’s amazing, of course, and we have really great dinners. But you know him! He’s kind of boring. You’d push me to get out of my comfort zone. We’d be real New Yorkers together! And we could even…”. She stopped talking when she heard that cute little snore that she had missed so much. Rachel swiped Santana’s hair out of the way to see if she was really asleep and smiled when she realized that maybe she was, in fact, that boring.

“Hey!” Rachel started poking Santana’s cheek. “Wake up!”

Santana stirred for a moment. “What?”

“You’re not sleeping! It’s not even midnight!”

Santana sat up and shook her head. “You’re right. What should we do?”

Rachel looked at Santana and the two held eye contact for a moment before Rachel looked down at her hands. “I- I guess we should finish off this holiday eggnog!” She started to stand up before she was stopped by Santana’s hand on her thigh.

“Rachel… our glasses are full,” Santana noted, smirking at her shorter friend.

“Right.”

“We could have a good old-fashioned dance party?” Santana suggested.

“True, or…” Rachel turned toward Santana, grabbing her hand. “…we could embrace the adventure of New York.”

Santana felt her cheeks turn red hot as Rachel’s thumb rubbed the palm of her hand. “What do you…”

Before she could finish, Rachel grabbed Santana’s face and started to kiss her- a more passionate kiss than she had ever given anyone else, she thought to herself.

Santana embraced Rachel’s spontaneity and they fell into each other, Santana fiercely-but gently, on top of Rachel while their bodies grinded together. It was so natural, and Rachel could have sworn she was seeing real sparks.

“Pull my hair,” Santana demanded, already out of breath. Rachel grabbed a handful of hair, scratching Santana’s scalp and pulling. Santana let out a moan, which told Rachel she was doing it right.

“Let’s go to my room,” Rachel suggested.

“Wow,” Santana laughed, shaking her head as she laid next to Rachel on her bed. “This holiday has taken quite the turn.”

“You know this was bound to happen,” Rachel responded as she stroked Santana’s arm. “You didn’t just hate me out of nowhere. There’s always been something between us.”

“That’s true. I always think of you when I see those memes that talk about the weird tension between the miserable goth and Christian horse girl middle school best friends”.

“I’m Jewish, and you’ve never been goth,” Rachel smirked.

“Well fuck, sorry no one’s made personalized memes about your life, Berry. Never mind.” Santana got up, laid a blanket down on the floor, and wrapped herself up in it.

“Santana, come back up here,” Rachel protested.

“No, it’s better if I sleep on the floor anyway. It’s fine.”

After a moment of silence, Rachel spoke up. “You don’t like me, do you?” she asked quietly.

Santana let out an exasperated sigh and sat up, looking at her needy friend. “What do you mean, like you?”

“Well,” Rachel shrugged. “I don’t know… as a friend, as a person…”

“You see? This is what I mean. It’s time for bed. Don’t take it personally. I just want to sleep on the floor. If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t be here. Okay?”

“You promise?”

“Promise. But you’re talking nonsense now.” Santana stood up and gave Rachel a gentle kiss on the forehead. “Good night.”

Rachel closed her eyes and couldn’t help but keep smiling. “You know… if you moved here, there is lots of room in my bed,” she added.

“Noted,” Santana giggled. “I’ll call the U-Haul guy tomorrow.”

Fic writer review [Or a fic writer tag game if you prefer]

I was tagged by @naralanis and I can already see her grin all the way from where I am xd Thank you, dear, for the tag, let’s see what are my answers, shall we.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

*bursts out laughing* Adding both pseuds I have… 535 according to the account info but by counting them all I’m reaching 541 so I’m guessing it’s counting some drafts I need to re-find.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

I seriously hated you for this one xd I was going to do it by hand by I decided one-third there that I value my mental stability a little bit more xd according to the stats page back at a03 that number would be 1257884. It may be wrong. I think there should be a few more numbers up there but the majority of my works are one-shots so *shrugs* There’s also the fact that counting my ao3 things only is shaving off like half of it Xd Anyway, can we laugh at the fact that I’m a pain in the ass and that I’ve written a lot? More than I should have, that’s for sure

3. How many fandoms have you written for?

Trick question because I haven’t crossposted everything I wrote back in ffnet and I actually erased some fics from my account back there so the numbers are a little blurry there.

When I had the entirety of my work posted both in ffnet and a03 I had written for: Twilight (Bella/Alice) Glee (Faberry and there were a couple Pezberry and I don’t fucking remember the pairing name for Santana and Quinn), Harry Potter (Hermione/Ginny, Hermione/Narcissa, Hermione/Bellatrix) OUAT (SwanQueen and several oneshots focusing on the mad hatter and the blue fairy solely back at ffnet that were written in Spanish and never translated), I actually had a veeeery old au prompt of Frozen (Elsanna in where I wrote them as non sibilings), Rizzoli and Isles (Rizzles), Dishonored 2 (Emily Kaldwin/Alexi Mayhew), Lara Croft and Wonder Woman, Supergirl (SuperCorp/Supercat) I had a 100 one -or maybe two??- (Clexa), The Shannara Chronicles (Amberle/Eretreia [Or Princess Rover], Rwby [Blake Belladona/Yang], The Worst Witch (Hecate Hardbroom and Pippa Pentangle), The Half of it, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Madam Satan/Zelda Spellman) and… I think that’s it(?) I may be forgetting some but probably nothing important if I’m not remembering it lol.

4. Top 5 fics by kudos?

Ah, we are going to go there, uh? Xd My works are not the kudos and comment getting type Xd So I was quite surprised when I went to check this.

1: Cracked it I wrote this one back in 2017, it was a prompt done by an anon: Lena is nerding with one of her projects at home, mumbling mostly to herself because she’s stuck and Kara casually mentions how to solve the problem like it’s nothing. I really had some fun with this. It was back when some us, SQeeners were fully doing the jump between OUAT and SuperGirl (I mean, there had already been some crossover as for fandom is related but this when the girls were actually getting their conjoined voice within the fandom)

2: Dateless I honestly needed to check what this one was about but I think I can see why this one shot has the amount of kudos it has. It’s a short and sweet idea and responds to the Teachers Au that went SO well with SQ. Everyone thinks they hate each other and try to set them up with other people whilst they, in truth, are dating. I don’t remember if I wrote them as married rather than dating but despite being from 2017 as well is one cheeky enough to be cool Xd I probably would edit some lines now *shudders*

3: After you I truly didn’t expect this one to be top 3. Makes me think of a lot of things, if I’m being honest Xd. After you was a one shot written almost feverishly as an answer to the fabulous drawings that Sejic did of both Lara Croft and Wonder Woman back at 2018 or something. It’s just Lara and Diana being himbos but not at all with each other.

4: How about… How about is one I remember perfectly, it was my answer to the ending of the Half of it film. I had SOME thoughts about it, let’s just stop there Xd I really liked the film itself but I think and I thought at the time that my response to wishing for a final scene at the very end of the credits responds to me being in a different personal moment than the characters. I really wanted to explore my feelings about it and so I wrote about them finding each other again after some time passes. It was also something I wrote after quite the hiatus so I took it as something I could write about without focusing too much on the why.

5: Come to me

Ahh, SuperCorp Xd I remember this one actually. A friend of mine and I were talking about descriptions, and she mentioned quite off-handedly how she wanted a fic in where Kara’s back was described. I complied… more or less.

Fun tidbit, despite the big volume of my work is obviously set in ouat there’s only 1 SQ fic there as you can see, the others are either SuperCorp or the random one shots I created for Wonderwoman/Lara Croft and The half of it. *sighs in deep thought* I’m also not going to look too much into how almost all of the fics were posted and written back in 2017. Nope, not at all.

*Small voice screaming you peaked in 2017 and everything else is garbage jumps back and forth*

5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

I tend to always respond, yup. I truly value comments. I might have gone for spells of time in where I didn’t have the mental capacity to check in old fics because I truly didn’t know what to answer but I treasure every single comment and you all who comment know that I can start to ramble in the answers xd -sorry about that- I really really REALLY love interaction.

6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending:

Ok, Nara, come on, this one is a catch for me. I’ve written angst in far too many fics to remember the angstiest one :P I have the most recent one, though, that is the easy one to think about: Goodbye.Written for @delirious-comfort. I’m just going to say “Kisses with their last dying breath” as an idea of what awaits inside but I’ve written about death and loss and angst quite a lot. There were some I wrote back to SQ with Regina needing to kill Emma during the Dark Swan arc that, to this day, I still love and some others in where Regina is the one that dies, again and again, trapped by magic while Emma watches. I have the loss in mental destruction form and… I REALLY like my angst y’know xd

7. Do you write crossovers?

Not counting Lara and Wonder Woman not really! I think it comes from the fact that I loooove worldbuilding as a whole and some pairings would require all my focus into making the world perfect which in turn would make me self conscious on the OOCness of it all.

8. Ever received hate on a fic?

*snorts* I’ve received hate due to the pairing I’ve written about, how I’ve written about it, the amount I’ve written, how slow or quick I can be, the usage of some tropes, the lack of usage of those same tropes… Let’s just go with: yuuuup.

9. Do you write smut?

I’ve written smut, yeah! But I can already see the pointed looks of some so let’s elaborate Xd I write smut when asked and sometimes when not asked but there’s a part of me I like to call a terrible tease that prefers writing the beginning of a scene, taunt it, focus on what happens before the sex scene per se as I find it more enjoyable to write. The process of escalation is always the best for me to see what can I do it by using both dialogue and descriptors tbh, so I tend to tease more than show.

9. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

A few weeks ago I’d have said: Maybe(?) But trying to follow the trail of some other fics that had been stolen from some friends -I think it was me trying to find more about the page that stole something from your Nara!- I found some pages in where my fics had been reposted. In some it was stated that the person posting the fic wasn’t the author but I had never been contacted in order to see if I’d say yes to such a thing and in some others the page was locked up but I could still see someone was pretending to be the author. I did the thing and got some of those down.

Pointed note: Ask me if you want to post or translate or anything. I will look into you and answer you if you seem honest about the thing. But despite every joke and self-deprecating comment those 500 and then some fics represent MY time so very kindly I say fuck off to those who wish to steal from me and if I catch you… you don’t really want to see me angry, trust me.

10. Ever had a fic translated?

I’ve given permission to some, yeah, but never heard it back from them so I’m guessing it didn’t stick.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic?

I’ve written series alongside other authors as @stregaomega for example. And some others that are unpublished -looking at you @carsonnieve - I’ve also done collabs… but fics co-written in the sense of two authors same chapters I don’t have anything posted I’m afraid :P

13. All-time favourite ship?

*snorts*, I guess the obvious answer is SQ uh? And I do think they were the ones that allowed me to read and write SO much. The one I feel more strongly about, however, is Bering and Wells from Warehouse 13.

14. WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

All of them counts as a valid answer? But if I only could finish one that would be Arcadia. With A forgotten Promise second and the one I did as an Assassins Creed AU third. (I don’t remember the name so there’s no link, sorry xd)

15. Writing strengths?

Uhhhh, you REALLY want me to say that? I don’t fucking know!! To me everything I write is garbage. I always try to go for the feelings so I guess. Dunno xd I’ve been told I’m good at worldbuilding and to be honest is what I enjoy the most.

16. Writing weaknesses?

Everything Xd Pacing? What I hate the most sometimes is dialogue, I would count it as a weakness but I’m always far too focused on description rather than dialogue. I don’t think it’s a bad thing per se but it’s something that I don’t do as much.

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I’m conflicted. Always. Majorly because I think that having bilingual characters in fanfiction is portrayed and expected in a way that I don’t feel it’s honest with how bilingual people -us- talk. So if I go by what I know I do I think it’s not what readers hope to see when it comes to that and if I go for how canonically is hoped to be found I don’t think it’s logical. But that’s me and my overthinking Xd If I have the option I like to do it.

18. First fandom you ever wrote for?

Belice! Or Bella/Alice. Worst first fic ever but oh, well, I’m always saying that :P

19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?

Uhh… Don’t make me do this XD Agh, I don’t know. I’ve always been very vocal about Metallic Ink because I let myself enjoy the process of creating a magic system almost out of zero and that was fun. Despite hating some of the writing process and that I’d do it differently now I think I’m going to stick with that answer. Or anything that had any steampunk-based undertone. To be honest I like more thinking of concepts, I had one in where Emma was a thief and it involved the robbery of a ring that was Regina’s one way ticket to freedom I then later repurposed that I adored thinking about so let’s go with…. Yeah, I love having the option of changing things up a little and focus on how characters would fit in different aesthetics for this one Xd

Fic writer review [Or a fic writer tag game if you prefer]

I was tagged by @shadowdianne even though I have... not too many published fics.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Not so many since almost 3/4 are archived but out for the public to read just 8 works.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

According to the stats page on AO3: 80438 words. Which is not too much for the people who know how much I love writing long fics, but since most published works are oneshots or 3-chapters-long then... It is what it is.

3. How many fandoms have you written for?

Honestly? A lot. I'm going to try and list them all but I can't promise anything since anxiety fucked up my memory these past few months.

I started writing Faberry and Pezberry (actually one of my favorite fics ever written by me is this last mentioned ship, it's called "stars", it's an AU and my favorite plot ever), I guessed I also sank really deep in SwanQueen, I wrote a lot for this couple and only one fic is published because I hate so many things about this fandom, especially its hypocrisy and people who only wants attention not gonna lie (sorry not sorry, I am not the first person who thinks this and won't be the last). Bechloe and Mevie came right after and found my perfect place to keep writing about them and Supercorp is the last fandom I've been in as a writer and continue to be even though nothing is published yet (don't know why, probably 'cause there's too many good fics in it already and mine won't be liked by anyone). I also write for a really small fandom who's spanish and it's called Mirieya, if anyone knows about this I'll give you a kiss on the cheek.

4. Top 5 fics by kudos?

Surprisingly enough (not really, I knew this was happening), my top 5 fics by kudos are from the Descendants fandom and are the next ones (some of them not even finished yet):

Watch me ride the beat, let me, to find the light even in the darkest places (this one's a crossover with Shadowhunters), some things are meant to be and fool for you (the only one who's not a mevie fic).

5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

I always try to respond. If I ever forget doing so I always come back and reply anyway because is the least writers can do for someone who takes their tame to write something about our works and I LOVE interacting with people who do so.

6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending:

The one I've written with the angstiest ending is actually not published yet and I can't say anything about it (and I'm sure @shadowdianne is going to love me for this, they'll be the proudest). It's Supercorp and it will destroy you because I've cried so much writing it, you have no idea.

But if I have to mention one that's published I guess that little SwanQueen I made long ago, unsay these spoken words.

7. Do you write crossovers?

I do! And I love to write crossovers! Even if it's not implicit. For example, one of my headcanons about Evie (Descendants) is that her mom is Regina Mills and her story is the one she has in OUAT, except for a really happy ending with Emma Swan, so Evie has two moms and I love it.

But I write a lot of crossover fics. I plan to do one with Mevie and Supercorp, still thinking about it.

8. Ever received hate on a fic?

Uhm. Not directly, I guess? I mean, lots of complaints like: when are you going to update? why is this written like this? this is too angsty (no shit sherlock, angst is a trigger warning in the fic) blah, blah, blah...

9. Do you write smut?

I do! But I also enjoy more writing the "pre-smut" if you say, I enjoy teasing too much.

9. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Luckily, no. I haven't. Not that I know of, at least.

10. Ever had a fic translated?

I translate them myself since I'm a translator and interpreter so...

12. Have you ever co-written a fic?

I love co-writing. In the Descendants fandom I'm used to write with my dear friend @eternolimitado but I have a few collabs that need to be finished (-coughs- @shadowdianne looking at you intensely).

13. All-time favourite ship?

The obvious answer is Mevie but it's actually Supercorp.

14. WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

Probably a lot, but the first one that came to much is this WIP I have with so much angst in it. It's actually based on the movie Burlesque and its two main characters I can't really talk about but if you're interested in it DM me.

15. Writing strengths?

Uhm... Nothing? At least from my point of view. People say I'm good at description and analyzing a character. I get so invested in my characters that I have to study them previously. For example, it took me an awful lot to write Regina and Lena properly.

16. Writing weaknesses?

Dialogue. Definitely dialogue. I love description too much.

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

If one of my characters speaks another language I always try to write dialogue in that language. I do that a lot with Evie since Sofia is Colombian, for example. Of course it comes with a translation at the end of the fic.

18. First fandom you ever wrote for?

Definitely Faberry (Glee).

19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?

This is hard to answer... but I guess I really enjoy the universe I created with "watch me ride the beat". I love modern!AU's and everything was made from the heart.

I’ll have to trawl through some of my old headcanon posts for a proper answer to this but I always saw Santana being the one to propose in both instances, and I have a very vivid picture of exactly how it would play out for each pairing. Agh. Now you’ve got me wanting to write oneshots for them rather than just explaining it again!! Maybe I will 😭😭

On the origins:

Would it surprise you if I said that Curionenene – plot bunny breeder, giver of feels, and encourager of fic – did not give me the prompt for this?

In this case, silverlightdragon did, over at FF dot net. They actually gave me a list of stuff and asked if I'd be interested in doing any of it. I wasn't, but the last one – the whole 'Santana and Rachel are friends with benefits and Quinn finds out' – was the only one that caught my interest.

Now, I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this fandom and Faberry. Most of my fandom output, actually, is fueled by intense rage at canon or fanon I don't agree with. But writing the first bit about Santana and Rachel was a good exercise in writing smut which I don't normally do since I am pants at it, and it quickly grew in size.

On the writing process:

Santana and Rachel make a very interesting pair. I prefer Quinn for Rachel, of course my Quinn, not whatever creature lurks in canon but there is a chemistry between the actresses that probably stems from their dislike of each other that I enjoy, plus the trope of friends-into-lovers is one of my favourites.

The fic began with a quick smut scene, and then Quinn finds out, starts acting weird, blah blah, then Rachel breaks it off with Santana so she can start boning Quinn instead. But this has been done to death in canon, and it's too simple anyways. This is Quinn Fabray we're talking about, and this is Yumi writing Quinn Fabray. My characters love to complicate emotions and spend a lot of time talking about said emotions in highly-charged dramatic confrontations.

The decision to split the fic in two came about towards the end of the first part, where Santana and Rachel break up. I wrote the fic from Santana's POV because I enjoy getting into her head and writing the insults and decided that would be awkward if I were to have Quinn and Rachel getting together, innit? So I decided to split it into two halves mirroring each other (smut in both, smut at the beginning vs smut at the end) with the second half being from Rachel's POV.

The tone of the fic is my natural style; fast-paced, dialogue-heavy, with humour lurking in every part.

On Santana Lopez:

I love writing Santana Lopez. I love how she goes from being Quinn's backup to a character in her own right with a kickass storyline and even better lines. I tried to do her justice in this story, and I really hope I succeeded.

Of course, Santana is an unreliable narrator who misses a lot of stuff due to her priorities being different. She enjoys needling Quinn and Rachel until she starts to notice something's weird, and even then all she does is take her hands off the entire situation (until Kurt gets involved).

On Rachel Berry:

Rachel is Rachel, LOL. Her character is a nod to S1!Rachel, with her craziness toned down a smidge. It's true what Santana says, that regular orgasms have mellowed her out XD

Seriously though, I could write a thesis on how I loathe what Glee did to their characters but I won't. I'll just say that Rachel's transition to Lea Michele in S4 was a little jarring.

On Quinn Fabray:

As the only main character not to have a voice of her own, we aren't privy to what goes on in her head as we do with Santana and Rachel (in turn). You can bet it's complicated, though, based on how much I love writing my emotionally complicated characters.

Readers might notice that Rachel and Quinn don't actually get together in the fic (figuratively, of course. Physically it happens). Instead of neatly wrapping things up over a prolonged period like I tend to do, I had them agree to acknowledge their mutual physical attraction, and work on resolving the many, many issues that lie between them. It's a start, really, rather than a complete fic, but the promise of a beginning is a satisfying ending as well.

Random Pezberry Oneshot- The Tight Pony

There's something about a tight pony that makes you feel put together.

Like a superhero doing up the last laces on their boots before flying off to save the day.

A loose pony feels wrong, like the scrunchie will just fly off at any moment.

On the other side, tight ponies are killer on your roots and hair line.

But it's only four years, six after you get a scholarship to a two-year school.

When you transfer to NYU, you think it's the last you'll ever see of the tight pony and good fucking riddance too.

Then you run into an old frenemy that you may have had dirty fantasies about on occasion. Frenemies turns into friends because in a new city by yourself, you can't afford to hold onto high school hangups and grudges.

Friends turns into roommates after a water leak in your apartment turns into a mold infestation that shuts down the entire floor of your building for a year.

Roommates takes some serious getting used to especially when your old high school friends come calling and things you didn't expect to resurface makes tensions flare.

It takes your abuela dying to really make you reevaluate your life and relationships.

The same abuela who couldn't even look at you while you carried on a relationship with Britney, absolutely adores Rachel.

Like Wtf? Gay dads and all.

Roommates turns into Exclusive-fuck-buddies-expirmenting-with-potentially-having-a-serious-relationship,

Rachel's idea NOT yours. For some reason telling her that your abuela's dying wish was for you to bang her did not translate well from 'My abeula has given her blessing for me to ask you to be my giant nosed girlfriend' and she worries that entering a relationship with her is your way of dealing with losing your abuela.

It's bullshit but at the same time, you have your own doubts and worries because dating Rachel isn't like dating Brit Brit.

It's hard work that involves screaming matches and broken coffee mugs and tears some days, but other days involves breakfast in bed, conversations done entirely in emoji, talking about where you'd like to vacation together in 3 years when you've both finally graduated and if you're dog or fish people. (For the record Rachel loves dogs but has never kept a fish alive, You're anything but a cat person and that makes Rachel smile)

Exclusive-fuck-buddies-expirmenting-with-potentially-having-a-serious-relationship turns into a serious relationship faster than you expect it to given how often the two of you have butted heads since you started kind of dating. Not to downplay any of your fault in the matter but there were a lot of times when you absolutely knew Rachel was testing you, letting her old Fuinn-securities get the better of her and try to push you away.

Couples counseling is your idea, believe it or not. You love Rachel and even though you're officially together for 3 years the girl still has her moments where she lets the past creep in and honestly, you don't know what else to do because you think you want to marry this girl but you don't want to keep having the same fights.

You hate couples counseling but you know Rachel values a "proffesional" opinion and it only annoys you a little when she finally accepts from the Counselor, what you've been saying for years. Apparently you've grown as a person, go figure.

Things get better, both of you make a concentrated effort to communicate better.

You only manage to wait a year before you pop the question.

Serious Relationship turns into engaged couple and then married before you can even blink.

For some reason you both agree on writing your own vows. It crosses your mind to put a 30 second time limit on your betrothed's vows because she STILL talks in fucking paragraphs sometimes and you honest to God worry she'll put the guests to sleep but then you figure you'll spice up your own vows classic Santana Lopez style and then you'll be even.

Of course your favorite Rachel story to tell is about when you first started hooking up.

Once you moved to New York, the only time you wore that tight pony was for your early morning runs.

New York Rachel wakes up later than Ohio Rachel which means, by the time you get home your girl is wide awake and waiting for you with coffee and gluten free english muffins on days she has class.

Your favorite days were when Rachel had no classes, just a few after noon auditions and maybe a shift at the diner.

On those days, you'd walk through the door and find her finishing up yoga stretches.

The first time is particularly emblazoned upon your memory.

You'd slipped off your shoes, kicking them towards the hall closet while your eyes zeroed in on Rachel's ass slowly coming out of a downward doggy.

You remembered the quarter in your pocket, the one you'd pick up in central park while pausing for a quick sip of water.
