Meet the author I guess?

Thanks to @severusobserver for tagging me, I'm not going to continue the thread, because frankly these things confuse me and I usually forget what everyone has said, but it was cool to see some stuff you're into, so here's a window into my brain too:

Three ships:

Severella/ Crowprince

This is Severus x my oc Petronella Blishwick. Of course it has to be my top one, because I love her. I generally don't like other people's snapexocs and often find the ofc's to be a bit... lame (sorry no hate just my personal taste). Petra is a self proclaimed weirdo, a bit grumpy like Snape himself, loves her punk and metal music, has elemental powers that sometimes get out of hand, and is neurodivergent. Their relationship is so full of trust and understanding of each other's quirks. It's the relationship I wish I could have irl basically. Head over to @princeandcrow for more.

Snupin/ Wolfprince

I love love love this ship. If it weren't for the above they would be my otp. I have three (I think) published fics for my boys now, with a couple more I'm working on. It's enemies to lovers, it's unrequited pining, it's angst and fear of rejection, it's opposites attract finding they actually have a lot in common, and so much more. And I cannot deny that the smut is 🥵😈💀🖤

Snack/ Starprince

I have not fully got into this yet, partly because I just don't have space if that makes sense? I feel like it's a more extreme version of Snupin in a way. The angst is heightened, the enemies to lovers, hate sex, potential for hurt etc. But in so many ways Severus and Sirius are like a mirror or two sides of the same coin. They were both abused, they both take their issues out on others, they even have similar looks (sometimes in fanart it's guessing game of is this snape or sirius?!) I have read a few fics which I loved and have two of my own in the works, but I don't know when they'll come to fruition.

First Ship:

Severitus. Not technically a ship I guess, but I'm following your lead with the platonic ships. This was what got me into fanfics. I don't know if it was what the author intended, but I think Snape and Harry have such father/son vibes in canon. Snape's like a very traditional strict parent in a lot of ways (not saying it's good or healthy but?). I like reading angsty Severitus where Snape is very prickly, but when it comes to writing I always end up making him kinda soft.

Last song:

Lost Myself by Longpigs, because I used it in the fic I just published! It also resonates with me a lot and my feelings towards relationships. But generally at the moment it's Slipknot and Tool on repeat. Particularly Disasterpieces which literally saved my mental health from a difficult situation recently.

Last Movie:

Suicide Squad with my daughter. She simps over the Joker, but hates Snape. Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️. I love Harley Quinn and Katana though. Can't remember the last film I watched for myself, but I got 5 Centimetres Per Second for my bday, so hopefully watch that soon.

Currently Reading:

Working my way through the back catalogue of snupin on Ao3. Part way through a history book about the lost library of Matthias Corvinus (still). Top of my pile to read next is Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki by Haruki Murakami.

Currently Watching:

About half way through Midnight Mass and loving it big time. Only problem is I'm usually so tired at the end of the evening, or if not trying to write, and I need to be awake and focused because it's so good. Totally simping on the Sheriff.

Currently Drinking:

Just finished my morning coffee. Lots of herbal tea because it is very cold. Opened a bottle of Voignier last night which is 😋

Currently Craving:

Time alone. If I could just pause the rest of the world for a few weeks/months and spend all day every day writing, that'd be grand. Oh, did you mean food? I love food but as I pretty much always have to cook for myself it gets tiring and is such a chore. Maybe a meal out. Without any other people. But also actual sex with a real life person. Too much information? 😅

The Prince and The Crow - update

Apologies to my readers, there will be no update again this week 😭

As well as trying to finish off another fic, I have also got a bit stuck, and keep getting confused over the timeline. TBH I'm not sure when the next chapter will be posted, but rest assured I am still writing! This fic is like my baby, and I don't want to rush it or put out inferior content, so please be patient with me.

Petronella hates shopping, but Severus wants to treat her...

‘What about this one?’ Severus holds up a charcoal blouse that Petra had pulled out to try on before noticing the price tag. ‘It’s too expensive.’ She dismisses. ‘Try it anyway.’ He insists.

Petra hates clothes shopping. Clothes, she loves; the way that the right outfit can make you feel. Some items of clothing are like wearing a comfortable blanket, others can express something about yourself, and some outfits can make you feel like you rule the world. Shopping, on the other hand always makes her feel stressed, and anxious. There’s the crowds, the awkward social interactions with the sales staff, the discomfort of trying on different items of clothing, memories of being forced into tight, scratchy, frilly, ugly gowns, and of course the shame of not fitting the standard conventions of “attractive female physique”.

Severus on the other hand seems to be in his element. Scanning through the racks, and perusing fabric samples, he could be picking out potions ingredients in an Apothecary. ‘We actually have a similar blouse in a tailored option for the same price, if you were to opt for softened cotton instead of silk.’ The sales assistant puts in. ‘Can we see the fabric options.’ Severus asks. Petra scowls at him as the assistant fetches the samples. ‘I said it’s too much.’ Petra mutters. She was already buying a new tailored suit, and she didn’t like being frivolous. Her Professor’s salary was more than enough to cover her costs, and she had managed to save a little over the past few years, but she liked to donate to various charities, and wanted to put some aside for Harry too, just in case.

‘Then let me buy it. Severus says casually. He holds up a fabric sample. ‘This shade of grey is perfect for you.’ He states, his gaze lingering on her eyes. Petra rolls her eyes and pushes the fabric book away. ‘Oh. That is soft.’ She says, feeling the delicate fabric between her fingers. ‘That’s cotton?’ She preferred cotton to silk anyway. Severus smirks. ‘No.’ She tells him firmly. ‘I don’t need you buying clothes for me.’ ‘What if I want to.’ ‘I’m not a doll.’ Petra scowls. She is starting to get a little worked up now. ‘Give us a minute.’ Severus instructs the assistant, who nods and makes himself scarce.

‘Petronella. Breathe.’ Severus says, holding her hands. ‘I’m not trying to dress you up. You are beautiful in everything you wear – even the t-shirts that look like they’ve been worn every day since 1972.’ ‘Some of them have been.’ She responds, calming a little. ‘I don’t care what you wear, as long as you are comfortable. I just want to…’ He clears his throat looking a little embarrassed. ‘I would like to do something nice for you, but buying you something would also make me feel good. I come from less than you remember. Being able to spend money on this sort of thing… I enjoy it.’

Petra thinks for a minute. ‘I’ll try it on.’ She relents. ‘But that’s the last thing.’ Even the off the rack version is quite flattering, and she has to hold back a small smirk at Severus’ gaze roving over her curves. The tailor makes up the custom version to her measurements in the soft dark grey cotton while she is making her other purchases.

‘You look altogether too pleased with yourself.’ Petra sneers playfully at Severus as they stroll back through Knockturn Alley towards the pub. ‘Do you have any idea how good your tits look in that blouse?’ He smirks. ‘Why do you think I let you buy it for me?’ She responds, biting her lip.

They skip lunch and head straight for their room on the top floor of the Leaky Cauldron.

Sometimes Petra and other well-behaved ‘patients’ were allowed to wander the grounds, though many times she took the unusual step of requesting a visit to Thomas. She knew he didn’t have as much human contact as she did and it concerned her that he was stuck in there for days and days on end. She hadn’t brought any treats or entertainment, but they sat next to each other with their backs pressed against the wall, their shoulders touching.

“Yes, perhaps.” Petronella was not used to being the pessimistic on in a situation but in this case, she felt there was little chance of him getting out. There was nothing wrong with him other than being depressed specifically because of his current situation.

“What will you do when you leave? Will you travel?” She asked, a small smile appearing on her face as she took his hand in hers’. “You should go live in Norway, live among the reindeer. No one will ever bother you again.”

Novelization of The Tales of Sage And Savant To Be Published by EDGE Science Fiction & Fantasy Publishing

Popular Steampunk podcast “The Tales of Sage and Savant” to expand their story into a series of full length novels.

Eddie Louise, writer of the podcast “The Tales of Sage and Savant,” has signed a multi-book deal with EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing to novelize each season. By bringing the popular podcast to novel form, EDGE and Twinstar Studios hope to expand the audience with both e-books and trade paperback versions.

“The Tales of Sage and Savant” is a monthly audio-drama podcast set in an alternate history Steampunk universe. Steampunk is retro-futuristic, imagining a sci-fi future starting from a Victorian past. Sage and Savant exist in a sci-fi universe, which allows the podcast to investigate modern concepts and ideals. The combination of modern ideas and formalized vocabulary help to establish an other-worldly setting for the story. In the first season, Doctor Sage begins her investigations into galvanism, which is the study of the application of electricity to human flesh. Now in its second season, “The Tales of Sage and Savant” has become incredibly popular across the US, Canada and Europe taking the time-traveling duo to new situations throughout history. Each episode explores questions of equality, contemporary hubris, and the role our frame of mind plays in how we react to the world at large.

The lead character, Doctor Petronella Sage is angling to become a fellow at King’s College, a fictional university lauded for its Medical and Historical Science Departments. Although Petra has achieved her doctorate and a position at university, Victorian attitudes toward women mean she is constrained in her opportunities. Women lag in recognition (and pay) for their scientific and academic successes. Doctor Sage is under immense pressure to perform perfectly and to bring credit to the institution before she has any hope of achieving her goal of becoming a fellow.

     “please, just tell me.” her plea tumbles out in a rush, far more desperate than delphine had meant to let it get. she always seems to have trouble holding that back, whenever cosima’s life is what’s on the line. ”whatever it is that you can see, any of it – anything at all could be of use. it could save her life, petronella.”

Petra purses her lips before giving a little head shake. She thought that Delphine being of a scientific mind would be less reluctant to accept her visions of the future that may or may not be accurate.

“I can see the past accurately but not the future. The future is always changing, what I tell you now might not end up happening at all.” Seeing as that probably wouldn’t change the other woman’s mind, she continued. “She- She isn’t even there, she’s being talked about. There’s a man, I can’t see his face well but he’s very pale with dark hair. His shirt looks like it’s just been ironed... He’s irritated and says that he doesn’t want Cosima to stay with them because ‘the two of them are bad enough’. He’s talking about their other guests.”

It had been a few days since Petronella first met the man that had (somehow) captured Thomas’s heart all those years ago. He must have changed an awful lot since then. Would they still love each other?

As she sat on large stump just behind their cabin, she felt another wave of jealousy and reached into the basket beside her, angrily flinging feed for the chickens. It was Petra and Thomas. That’s how it had been in since the start. They had been through hell together, this man couldn’t possibly understand… But something told her that James had dealt with much darker demons. The way he moved, the way his eyes scanned the room; it didn’t feel right.

She felt him approaching and she quickly wiped her cheeks with the back of her mitts. He was a hulking shadow even when it was bright and sunny. With a snuffle, she reached into the basket next to her and tossed more feed to the chickens, then resumed her sewing. She was patching a hole in Thomas’s grey cloak, it took beating this winter.

“It’s- it’s rude to sneak up on people. Thomas and I don’t like it.” She caught sight of his boots before she bent her head over her work, not wanting him to see the tears threatening to spill over again. “How much has he told you about- about how we came to be in this situation?”

Confrontation Starters

“I-I know that, Thomas, a-and I know that you love him. You intend to stay with him and continue to love him.” A sad smile appeared on Petronella’s face and she nodded, confirming her thoughts to herself. He loved James, he had loved him for years and part of her envied him. She had yet to experience anything close to true love.

“We have stayed by each others’ sides for years and I- I love you as a brother. I cannot bare the idea of never seeing you again.” She bent her head to hide the tears slithering down her pink cheeks. There was plenty more she wanted to say but she stayed quiet, fearing that her words might be misconstrued or that her ideas might be rejected. All she wanted was to stay with him in some capacity, whether it be as a housekeeper or a cook, anything would do. If he continued to treat her as an equal then it would be even better.

HEADCANON TIME do any of your muses have pets or livestock? If not, why not? Are there any muses that would love to have pets but don't or can't? (Sidenote: GIVE PETRA A CAT)

This is a long list of pet owners!! Ok my favorite for this one was Simcoe because his pets were REAL pets and his wife talks about them in her diaries which is adorable. (Trojan was a mischievous hound and reminds me so much of my old dog!)

Bertha’s family had livestock when she was little and she loved playing with them but she’s never had any pets or livestock since. It’s entirely possible that if she were given a pet or got a hold of an animal while in the attic, she might hurt it because her mental health has deteriorated so badly.

Charlotte and Marion have a cat named Pancake! While Charlotte living with Susan, she makes friends with Synthia the cat and then on the other side of the island, she’s friends with the chickens. She loves feeding the chickens and making noises at them. When Marion fakes her death, she takes Pancake with her but everything assumes that the cat ran out the door when Marion was “killed”.

Madame Elisabeth doesn’t have any pets of her own but she cares for the livestock of the village. When she was little, she had a pug (look at this adorable portrait). I thought I read somewhere that she was gifted a monkey when she was young but her aunts didn’t like it so they gave it away. Even if that’s not true, I’m keeping that as a headcanon!

Evie likes cats but doesn’t want any pets, besides she’s too busy.

Farrah isn’t really an animal person and she travels a lot.

Petronella doesn’t have a cat but regularly feeds the local strays and attempts to befriend them! If a cat or dog is trying to get into her house on a rainy night, she’ll probably let them in. 

Naomi has Bart the Shiba Inu and Lisa the French Bulldog. If she could take them to work, she absolutely would.

The OA doesn’t have any pets and she’s never had one- but she could probably use an emotional support animal.

Peggy has never had any pets but when she was eighteen, she would’ve loved a small dog to tote around and show off. Now that she has children, she’s too busy for any pets.

Sally’s family is fairly wealthy and she doesn’t need to do any work but she enjoys tending to the livestock (she doesn’t shovel poop or anything, just feeds them and shoos them into their pens) and working in the orchards. She loves it when the chickens follow her around and she enjoys making yarn from the sheep’s wool. Each family member has their own horse and Sally’s horse is named Artemis. 

Silva doesn’t have any pets but he had a dog when he was a kid, it was a big German Shepherd.

Simcoe only has a horse during his military service but as an MP, he has multiple hunting dogs on his estate and as Lt. Governor in Canada, he has a few select pets. There’s Jack Sharp the Newfoundland (he used to be the sheriff’s dog but liked the Simcoes better), Trojan the hound, and a gray and white cat. The animals loved Elizabeth Simcoe over everyone else.

Susan has Synthia the cat but has had a series of pets over the years. Although she’s very good at distancing herself from her work, she hates seeing dogs and cats being used as test animals.

Villanelle does not have any pets and you should not give her any pets. This has been a PSA.

Zelda has never had any pets and she doesn’t want any. She travels and has better things to do than to take care of an animal.
