What Lurks In The Dark
Pairing: Marcus Lopez Arguello x fem!reader
Word count: 3.7k
Warning: Mild cursing, Mild Graphic description of violence
Summary: Paranoia had always been a common occurrence in her life so when the feeling of being watching started to rise in the back of her mind she couldn't tell if it was just a conjured-up feeling or reality. After a heavy night of avoiding anyone and everyone at all costs, a deal is sent her way that she would be a fool to pass up on or maybe a bigger fool for agreeing to it.
(Y/N): Your name
(H/C): Hair colour
(E/C): Eye colour
(F/C): Favourite colour
*Gif does not belong to me
Worn out Converses smacked against the concrete sidewalk as (Y/N) walked through the streets with purpose. Her hands were tucked into the pockets of her oversized hoodie, the back of the (F/C) piece of fabric falling past his skirt and rubbing against the back of her stocking-clad thighs. Her (H/C) was pulled back and out of her face, a few wisps of hair falling out of the tie that kept the rest of her hair back and invading her vision.
(Y/N) tried not to stay in one place for too long, not when she had a doped-up dad with buddies all over the city. It was still beyond herself why she hadn't decided to flee the city yet. Perhaps the only reason she chose to stay was to keep an eye on her mother, but even then there wasn't much the woman was doing that gave (Y/N) a proper reason to stay behind.
She had only ever run into a few people that seem to recognise her. Normally, they would try and ask her if her dad had anything good going around or if she was carrying any on her. There was only one occasion where one of her dad's mates had tried to get physical with her, claiming she had to be brought back to where she belonged. It didn't take much to get the man off of her, mainly because he was drunk and clutching onto a half-empty beer bottle for dear life.
Tonight felt just like any night to begin with as she walked through the streets of San Francisco. She kept her head down and her hood up as she tried not to draw any more attention to herself than a teenage girl walking through the dark streets of San Francisco could get.
It was only when she saw the same boy with a bright green mohawk skate past her for the fourth time that she began to raise her guard. (Y/N) was willing to shake it off at first, but after seeing him a few too many times for comfort she began to realise she was being circled by the boy.
(Y/N)’s pace picked up only slightly along with her heartbeat. Her original plan was to try and lose him in some back alley that ran behind some of the apartment blocks and led back to one of the main roads. But upon further evaluation, it probably wasn’t the best idea to be followed into a back alley, even if she was being followed by a rather flimsy-looking boy that seemed to be around her age.
She had two other options that could work out in her favour, of course, with the possibility that her plans could backfire in her face. Her first option was to wait the boy out and lead him out to the main roads where she could hopefully lose him or he would be detoured because of the uprise in people. The second idea that had come to her mind was to try and meet the boy head-to-head and throw him off his course where she could try and get away from him in his moments of instability.
Both ideas could work out in her favour but just as easily give the green-haired boy the upper hand. In the case where she tried to lose him, he could get to her before she made it to a more crowded area and with the second choice he could overpower her, his looks may be deceiving to something stronger. Neither necessarily worked out in her favour but at least with the first option if she needed to she could make a run for it or later dissolve into the fight she was hoping it didn’t have to come down to.
In her head, the decision had already been made before she could properly think and weigh out her choices.
Turning left, (Y/N) felt the flesh of another hand latching onto her upper arm. Whipping her head around with a few strands of hair flying in the wind, (Y/N)’s eyes landed on the same boy that had been circling her as the night progressed. A choked yelp escaped from behind (Y/N)‘a lips at the sight of the boy, instantly trying to pull her arm away from him once it registered that the limb hanging onto her belonged to him.
“Woah,” The boy quickly called out, a laugh on the tip of his tongue as he planted a foot and held onto (Y/N) a tad bit tighter. Raising his chin a little, the green-haired boy said, “I’m just here for a fun time. You have nothing to worry about.”
“You creep,” (Y/N) quickly exclaimed, her lip curling in disgust. The boy's eyes seemed to widen at (Y/N)‘a words, like what he had said had finally registered in his head for the first time. Trying to keep a steady voice, she said, “Get off of me.”
“No can do, Runaway Legacy,” The boy’s overjoyed voice rang out, a matching unwavering grin plastered on his face. “Need to get you back to King's Dominion so I pass the assignment. I can’t let Lex get a good grade for this assignment this time around or he’ll have two to hold over my head.”
“One, I'm not going anywhere with you and your greasy mohawk,” (Y/N) started, getting cut off by the boy as he made his dissatisfaction known.
“It’s not greasy.”
(Y/N) gave the boy a deadpan at his words, watching as he raised his free hand in surrender and gave her room to speak once more. “Two, I don’t care about Lex or this assignment you claim that I supposedly am. If you want to kill someone, pick a different target. And three, the hill is a 'Runaway Legacy?'"
“I’m not going to kill you,” The boy exclaimed with a mortified gasp. “The whole point of this is to bring you back alive. Master Lin wouldn't have a use for you if we brought you back dead.”
“That’s not helping your case,” (Y/N) said, giving the boy a moment to answer before she kicked the skateboard out from under his foot, sending him skidding back in his moment in surprise. In his fall the boy had let go of her, so with a few steps forward, (Y/N) took control of the skateboard that the boy had just lost.
“Oh, come on!” She heard him call out from behind her as she began to pick up speed. As the boy stumbled to his feet, preparing to run after her he yelled, “Not cool man. Not cool.”
"Looks like your gonna have to go back to Master Lin empty-handed and fail your assignment," (Y/N) shrugged as she looked back at the boy only to find him a few paces from where he had originally fallen, not putting in too much effort to go after her. "I guess Lex is gonna be the one to bring home the gold."
"You would have much rather gone back with me, I promise," He called after her in a sing-song tone making chills shoot down (Y/N)'s spine. "If I don't get you, Lex or someone else will."
Shooting her head back around, (Y/N) focussed on getting away from the creepy boy and out of the part of San Francisco where she currently found herself in. But no matter where she went the feeling of someone watching her stuck with her throughout the night, making her never stay still for too long on the stolen skateboard she had obtained.
In the end, she didn't end up getting too far before another mysterious figure was making their way towards her.
"Oi, you've been assigned," A boy with cornrow braids said as he stepped towards (Y/N). He wore a dark athlete's hoodie with a toothpick between his teeth as his eyes scanned over her, landing on the skateboard beneath her feet where his lips twisted upwards. "Master Lin don't do well tardiness so we gotta move."
"I'm not going anywhere with you," (Y/N) uttered quickly, turning around the boy as she leaned heavily on one side of the skateboard. "As I said to your green-haired freak of a friend, this is an assignment you're gonna have to fail."
A loud scoff rang out from the taller boy. "Don't let any of the Rats hear you speaking about one of their own like that. They're known to not be as friendly as I am."
"I'll keep that in mind," (Y/N) said dryly, her (E/C) eyes half-hooded as she circled the boy. "Note to self, if you ever see someone looming in the dark, ask them if they are a Rat are not. It will certainly work out well in your favour."
A bemused chuckle left the boy's mouth as his shoulders bunched up and his head lowered. He reached up to pluck the toothpick from his mouth and flick it somewhere behind himself. "You're going to have to drop the attitude. That's the sort of thing that gets you killed in King's Dominion."
"Well, as I said to your Rat friend," (Y/N) began, not bothering to look over her should as she escaped from the boy as she already knew he would be lent against the wall behind him, "Master Lin's gonna have to learn that he ain't gonna get everything he wants."
"I would congratulate you for your bravery if what just left your mouth wasn't complete stupidity," The boy called out, not bothered by the ignorance he got in return. "Good luck escaping this one kid. No one gets away from Master Lin."
(Y/N) tried not to pay any mind to what the boy had said, attempting to let the words go through one ear and out the other. But the warnings she got from both strangers were daunting. Once was a coincidence but twice was an omen. And it didn’t take long until that omen was put into play.
Coming to a quick stop, the skateboard whipped out from under her feet as something knocked (Y/N) off her feet after rounding a corner. As she came crashing down a tall boy with blonde hair made his presence known. He spoke with a thick accent as he said, “We were told you were a Legacy, but I don’t see anything but a Rat.”
“Are you sure we’ve got the right girl?” Another voice spoke up with a just as thick accent. Coming to stand next to the taller dude was a girl with curly blonde puffed-up hair. She wore a cheerleader outfit with two dark-shaded pom-poms resting on her hips. “I’m not one to say Master Lin is wrong but this can’t be the girl everyone’s throwing a hissyfit over.”
“Would hate to agree with the emo cheerleader,” (Y/N) started as she stood from the ground, eyes landing on where the skateboard had fallen before looking up at the two blondes in front of her again. The girl had a glare on her face as she watched (Y/N), the title not sitting well with her. “But I think you and your other friends running around have to reevaluate who your stalking and threatening to kidnap.”
"We ain't going to have to kidnap you if you follow along willingly," The girl spoke up, popping a hip to the side as she stared expectedly at (Y/N).
"You see, as much as I would love to make this easy for you both," (Y/N) started to circle the two of them, stopping once she was at their sides and they had turned to face her. Trying to keep the attention on her face, she slowly stretched a foot out until it bumped into the skateboard lightly. Lifting her foot up until it rested on top of the board, she slowly pulled it back towards her. "I was taught not to go with people I don't know. You know, stranger danger."
The girl scoffed while the guy's face seemed to lift slightly. "There is no need to worry about strangers. I assure you, if you are the Legacy Master Lin claims for you to be, I am positive we will be far more than strangers."
"Ew, gross," (Y/N) shook her head, face twisting into disgust as she backed away from him with a few stumbled steps. "As enlightening as this whole interaction has been, I'd much rather decline and be on with my day."
"That's not going to happen, sweetie," The girl said stepping forward. With her steps, her hands moved from her hips, her pom-poms growing two large blades out of each one. (Y/N)'s eyes quickly flickered down to the spikes, taking a gulp as they seemed to glint in the streetlights. "We're allowed to take you back using whatever means necessary, and if that means by force… then so be it."
(Y/N) didn't need to wait another second to figure out what that means. Turning and launching herself onto the skateboard and onto the pathway. Thinking back to her earlier plans, (Y/N) starts to migrate her way back to the more crowded places of San Francisco. Maybe then she would finally be able to escape the several advances of strange teenagers and Master Lin, whomever that may be.
The pair of blondes must have been prepared for (Y/N) to make a run for it since they weren't too far behind her. The skateboard didn't act as much help and she probably would have been better off legging it herself but there was no time to jump off and hope for the best.
At the first sight of a large crowd of people, (Y/N) could feel some relief starting to creep up inside of her. That hope quickly diminished as something sharp pierced through her shoulder. She didn't scream but a deep disgruntled sound tore through her throat as she fell from the skateboard, crashing into a few pedestrians that gave her disgusted looks as they went barreling down with her.
Climbing to her knees, (Y/N) pushed herself up quickly. She crawled forward a step before she was tripping over her feet to stand once again. People parted the way for her as a hand craned back to wrap around one of the blades that had lodged in close to one of her shoulder bones. A steadying breath was taken as she began to inch the blade from her flesh. She kept walking as she tried to pull it out, stuttering in her steps every once in a while as she fought down a wince and had to pause in her movements. When a coalesced hand gripped hers, she turned around quickly, ready to see one of the attendants she had already run into that night. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
"What?" (Y/N) questioned as she focused on the boy that had come up behind her. He had dark curly hair that was cut into a short mullet. He wore a black long-sleeved shirt and some jeans, something plain to blend in. In one of his hands was the skateboard (Y/N) had discarded earlier.
"Pulling the weapon that punctured you from the wound," He said as he carefully tore (Y/N)'s hand away from the blade stuck in her shoulder. "It's like basic knowledge at this point."
"I think I was more concerned about getting away from the two lunatics that were chasing after me." (Y/N) watched with narrowed eyes as she pulled her hand away from the boy. "And why do you sound so calm? Anyone else would be a bit more worried about the massive chunk of steel sticking out of my back…"
"Well…" The boy said, bringing a hand up to scratch at the back of his neck.
"You're one of them, aren't you?" The words came out like venom, already backing away from the boy as her hand shot back up to clutch at her shoulder while her head tipped back so she could stare up at the sky. "Why won't you and the rest of your Rat and Legacy friends leave me alone?"
"If it makes you feel any better, you were able to avoid Saya and Maria last night. They didn't come back to King's Dominion until lunch today because they didn't want to be failed," The boy offered the information to (Y/N), trying to smile in some form of reassurance. All the boy got in return was the annoyed stare of (Y/N) as she began to turn away from him. With hurried steps to keep up with (Y/N), the boy said, "Of course that wouldn't make you feel better. Look, I know I'm probably one of the last people you want to trust, but if you let me take you back to King's Dominion-"
"Absolutely not," (Y/N) exclaimed, effectively cutting the boy off. She shook her head as she waved a hand at the boy, trying to shrug him off. "I've been running away from people trying to drag me to that place. Why would I willingly go with you of all people?"
"Because we have healers," The boy said exasperated. One of his hands jotted forward to reach out for (Y/N) but stopped at the large flinch on her part when he got too close. "I'm not saying you have to stay, hell you could be out of there as soon as the medics are done with you. But you'll have a better chance of coming with me than you will be trying to get help at a hospital.
When (Y/N) couldn't think of anything to say, the boy took it as his signal to keep on speaking.
"I was just like you once, okay? Scared and living on the street, on the run from cops and anyone who got too close. King's Dominion is far from a home or somewhere safe, but if you're willing, you can find yourself fitting in with the right group of people and making something for yourself there," It wasn't the lecture (Y/N) wanted to hear but it seemed to knock some sense into (Y/N)'s head. “Yeah, most of the people there are scum-sucking ducks, and the teachers couldn’t care less if you got poisoned or shot at, but at least you’ll have a future there. And hey, maybe in a month or two you’ll get to be the one chasing kids down the street trying to recruit them into this secret society where they could go and work for NASA even.”
“What does NASA have to do with any of this?” (Y/N) questioned with furrowed brows, allowing the boy to get a little closer to her and place a steadying hand on her back near the puncture wound.
“More than you think,” He laughed. (Y/N) turned to him, trying to arch one of her brows to show her confusion, only getting a shake of the boy's head as if signalling it was for another time. "I'm Marcus."
"(Y/N)," She says, allowing Marcus to push her forward and lead her King's Dominion, keeping an eye out for any of the strange faces she had run into previously that night. "You know your little rant wasn't very effective if you were hoping to get me to stay at King's Dominion."
"Yeah, the more I spoke the more I began to realise that." No one seemed to care much for the blade sticking out of (Y/N)'s back, passing by as if there wasn't a thing wrong with the image. (Y/N) couldn't decide if that was a good thing or if it was alarming how much people were willing to ignore what was right in front of them. "But I was inspirational, wasn't I?"
"Oh, very," (Y/N) concluded, a scruff of a smile appearing on her face. "Had the troops rallying. Could barely contain my excitement to get to this place where I'll have scum-sucking kids drooling over me and knobs of a teacher cursing me to do homework that will hopefully get us all killed"
"Don't be surprised if that's their objective," He warned before abruptly turning into a food store where a few people were already waiting. As (Y/N) followed after him, a question on the tip of her tongue as she stepped into the store which quickly dissolved as she saw some familiar faces.
"Hey Marcus, you got my skateboard back," The green-haired boy from earlier yelled happily as he jumped off one of the tables he had comfortably taken a seat on. Bounding over he extracted the board from Marcus before looking over at (Y/N). "I thought Marcus may have been able to woo you over here. I get it, I'm not your type. At least Lex wasn't able to get to you and bloody you up too badly."
"I wouldn't say that," Came the voice (Y/N) grew to find annoying. The same bush of blonde hair came wandering over, plucking the blade from (Y/N)'s shoulder, earning a gargled-out wince from the (H/C) haired girl as a hand shot up to apply pressure to the now exposed wound. Thick welts of blood began to smear across her fingers as she was guided through the store. "I think I did a pretty dandy job of giving her her first King's Dominion scar."
A scorn flashed across (Y/N)'s face as Marcus kept her moving, pushing her away from the blonde girl. It was then that her attention was caught by a boy with poorly bleached hair that he had been able to spike up. "Looks like you were able to strike out before me Marcus, good work there chap."
An uncertain familiarity took over (Y/N) at the sight of the boy. She found herself going out on a limb and asking, "Are you the famous Lex that greasy over there was going on about all night?"
"Someone been talking about me?" Lex asked with a bemused grin, eyes skittering around the room.
At the same time as Lex spoke, the green-haired boy yelled out, "My hair is not greasy!"
"Oh, I'm gonna like this one," Lex announced before he started to walk to the backdoor of the small building. "Now, you've been keeping Master Lin waitin' a long time. You ready to meet the man and be turned into a killer?"
Despite herself, (Y/N) found herself looking back at Marcus. She was either seeking out his reassurance or guidance, something she wasn't sure why she was doing. His shoulders quickly raised in an act of surrender. He spoke lowly, almost a whisper like it was a secret between them, "Don't look at me."
Turning back around to face Lex, she found him leaning against a door with a sign on it that read staff only. The boy with green hair was standing next to him while the other three he had seen earlier were standing slightly out of the way, waiting for her answer.
"Lead the way," She settled on saying.

Marcus Lopez Arguello x Reader
The dorm room is dead silent as you gape blankly at Petra. "No. Fucking. Way." You stare in horror at your roommate, mouth hung open as you attempt to process the slew of graphic information she just threw in your face. In response to your sheer outrage, she simply shrugs, black-painted lips turning up at the corners at the aghast expression on your face.
"Ew," You gasp, eyebrows furrowing as it seeps in, your eyes darting between your roommate, the sheets on your bed, to the chair in the corner, back to your roommate. "Ew! You and... Both of them? EW!" You stand up abruptly from your bed, eyes scanning the bedding below you in panic.
Petra's eyes twinkle with delight at your reaction to her news of what had gone down during the lockdown, when Lex, Billy and her, had been mere moments away from partaking in a three-way in your very room. While it hadn't gone very far, the sheer idea of something like that happening between your three closest friends, in your room, makes your skin crawl.
"In my room?" You exclaim, still processing, and she laughs.
"It's my room too. And we didn't do anything on your side... I don't think." She shrugs again, ducking away from the pillow you hurl at her.
You point a finger at her, mouth still agape at the very idea of anything like that happening on or around your personal belongings. "Petra Katja Yolga, I swear to God, if you ever have sex on my side of the room—"
"Whatever, Mom." She sighs, flipping you a middle finger, before her expression turns sly and a smirk tugs at her lips. "Besides, I feel like if either of us are in danger of participating in activities of the coital nature in this room, it's you."
Your jaw drops, cheeks blazing at the insinuation. "Shut up." You mutter, unable to form a cohesive comeback, and your heated cheeks and lack of retort just fuel Petra's fire, causing her eyes to twinkle mischievously as she plops down on the edge of your bed.
"Oh, Marcus..." She fakes a breathy gasp, falling back into the pillows, and before she has a chance to tease you further, you whirl around and exit the room as fast as your feet can take you, eyes wide with mortification as the sound of Petra's laughter follows you down the corridor.
Speaking of... You will the flush in your face to dissipate as Marcus turns the corner at the end of the corridor, dark eyes immediately seeking you out. "Hey." He smiles softly at you, and you reciprocate, heart swooping at the mere sight of his smile. Jesus, you need to get it together.
"You okay?" He takes in your flushed expression with furrowed brows and you bite back a laugh.
"Not one bit," You shake your head, eyes wide. "Apparently my three best friends almost slept with each other last night... In my room."
"What, all of them? Like, at once?" Marcus' tone is incredulous and you nod, pleased he seems as baffled by it all as you are, but then he ruins it. "Good for them."
You frown, smacking his shoulder lightly. "No, not good for them! My friends! In my room!"
He huffs out a laugh at your outrage, and it's only them that you notice there's a tension in his expression, a hardened look in his dark eyes that gives you pause. "Hey, what's up?"
Marcus makes a face, obviously not having intended on talking about it. "It's nothing, I just... I just got out of AP Black Arts and had it out with Master Lin. It's nothing serious, though, promise." At this, he slides his hand down one of your forearms, lacing his fingers with yours and tugging you closer to him.
Your brows shoot up, cheeks heating back up at the sudden proximity as you gaze up at him through your lashes. "If the monks catch us like this..." Your words trail off as he dips his head to seal his lips to yours, the kiss causing you to forget any protest you might have once had. Before you know it. his hands are on your waist and you're gripping at the lapels of his uniform, the world beyond the two of you lost to oblivion for all you care. You can hear Petra's voice in your head, cackling, but you shove it away, relishing in the kiss.
"If you're worried about the monks," He whispers as he pulls away, dark eyes glittering with mischief. "Maybe we should go somewhere more private."
You very nearly go along with it too, the air simmering between the two of you in the darkened hallway, but you remember why you were going to seek him out in the first place, and step back to give yourself some space to think — something you have proven to be unable to do at such close proximity to him.
"You —" You brush your hands over the lapels of his uniform, straightening the creases you didn't realize you'd made. "Have a shift at the comics store, if I remember correctly." He curses immediately at the reminder, groaning, and you smirk.
"Come with me." He proposes, hand sneaking back onto your waist, and you raise your eyebrows at how bold he's become — but then an apologetic look sneaks into his features, his brown eyes widening with a plea. "Plus, you sort of need to be there, Saya wanted to call a Vegas Crew gathering."
You feel the romance dissipate from the air just like that, a crushing reminder of the psychopathic killer at large and the incredible danger you all live in swooping in to ruin the mood. "Right. Smart." You nod, running a hand through your hair, and Marcus sighs.
"I was going to go change, do you want to come wait in the room?" You raise your eyebrows at his words and he laughs, hands held up in surrender. "No funny business, I swear." You roll your eyes, but nod anyway, biting your lip at the kiss he presses to your cheek as you follow him to his room.
Before long, the two of you head to the comic store together, only waiting a little while before Saya, Billy, and Willie all show up too.
The black and white photos Saya has sprawled on the counter make you shudder, taking in the horrors of what Fuckface has done to Shabnam's house.
"Jesus," Marcus finally speaks up, voicing your thoughts. "Is that Shabnam's dad?" He holds out a photo and you grimace at the image before you.
"His mom's probably in there as well." Billy says, and your frown deepens, causing him to pat you on the back with a less-than-convincing smile of reassurance. "All the more reason we have to do this now."
"Shabnam's house is rigged with traps," Saya explains, pointing them out on the photos. "Chester has seven to eight people inside, helping him."
You pause from gnawing on your thumbnail to look up at Saya. "Are we sure he has Chico?"
"He's not bluffing," Saya sighs. "He knows everything. He has to be getting information from someone inside of King's."
"Shabnam's parents." Marcus fills in, and you nod along, brows furrowed.
"What's stopping him from just..." You swallow thickly. "Sending Chico's head to El Diablo? If he finds out that it was Maria... That we were there..." It's hard to repress the shudder that wracks your body at the mere thought of that.
Marcus' hand appears on top of yours, dark eyes seeking out yours in an attempt at reassurance. "We're gonna need some serious firepower." He sighs, turning back to the group, and you nod. "Guns, explosives—"
"Y'all must be out your damn minds." Willie's voice cuts him off, and when you look up you notice him glowering at all of you, his arms folded over his chest. His eyes meet yours, and your brows tug together, before he scoffs and turns to leave the store.
"Wait, Willie—" You go to follow him, but Marcus puts a hand on your arm and gets up, exiting the store behind his friend. As soon as they both leave, you turn back to Saya and Billy, sighing deeply and sitting in Marcus' empty chair.
"We have to talk to Maria." You say, knowing full well it isn't what Saya wants to hear, and she grimaces but doesn't argue with you. There's a long silence that follows, where all three of you are inevitably picturing the various awful ways that conversation will go, before you finally let out a deep breath.
"I'll do it." You volunteer, causing both of your friends to glance up at you sharply.
"No offence," Billy starts, glancing between you and Saya. "But I think you're probably the last person she wants to talk to right now."
"I'm well aware," You shoot him a glare. "But she has to know what's going on. And I have to try to... To fix this." You know it's probably impossible, that this might be a death wish, but you have to try. You owe it to her to try.
"Tell Marcus where I've gone, okay?" You look to Saya, and she nods, one dark eyebrow arched at your plan. "I'll fill in on the rest of this later, but... I have to do this."
When you arrive back at King's, you forge a note from Juan to Maria, asking her to meet in the girl's bathroom, before slipping it under her door and running to the bathroom to lie in wait.
You are well aware that this might be the stupidest thing you've ever done, but you have run completely out of other options. As you sit in the darkened girls bathroom, you take a moment to fully wonder where the fuck your life went so wrong that you are now in a bathroom, preparing to trap the leader of the Soto Vatos and el Alma del Diablo's pet assassin, in order to have a heart-to-heart.
You are not given enough time to fully delve into those thoughts, thankfully, as the door begins to creak open and you spy Maria's shoes from the crack under the door.
"Meeting in the girl's bathroom is a new low, Juan." Maria calls out in Spanish, and you grimace as you swing the door shut and plant yourself in front of it, revealing your ruse to her.
She wheels around with her fan poised in front of her, expression morphing from one of surprise into rageful apprehension, and you throw your hands up placatingly.
"I know how this looks, and I'm sorry, I just really need you to hear me out and I knew you would never agree to talk with me." Your words tumble into each other in their haste to leave your mouth, and you sigh deeply before oh-so-slowly pulling open your blazer to show her the lack of knives tucked into the lining.
Coming unarmed to this might have been a suicidal move, but you know it's the only way to get her to listen to you.
Her dark eyes narrow, scanning your body, and you nod. "None in the boots, either." You answer before she even gets the chance to ask, slowly rolling your ankle around to show off the lack of metallic glinting.
"We need to talk." It's a cheeky thing to say as you stand in between her and the only exit, but you need her to agree not to kill you before you launch into anything — and you would really like it if this continued as a semi-normal conversation between two teenage friends, despite it all.
Maria doesn't lower her fan, but she doesn't run to attack you, either, so you take a deep breath and launch into it. "We've been doing reconnaissance on Fuckface, and it looks like he's holing up at Shabnam's house. We need to deal with him before he decides to send Chico's head to El Alma, and we need your help."
Her eyes widen as you talk, obviously as displeased by this update as you were, and you swallow thickly. "We need you, Maria. We have to end this. You killed Chico to save Marcus... Now we have to kill Chester to do the same. And save the rest of us, while we're at it."
Bringing up Marcus is a dicey move, and her eyes narrow at his name, but she finally tucks her fan away and sighs. "When?" She asks, and you sigh in relief, lowering your hands.
"We don't know. Soon. Maybe as soon as tomorrow. We didn't come up with a full plan before I left, but... It has to be now." The word 'we' obviously holds the implications of the Vegas Crew, and you watch her expression twinge at the mention of the group.
"Fine. I'll help." She says, eyes still glued to the ground. "Send a message when you make the plan." She moves to leave the bathroom, but you hold your position blocking the door, and her eyes narrow.
"Move." She orders, dark eyes narrowed, and you shake your head slowly, summoning the courage to say the next words.
"I'm sorry."
Your words hang heavy in the silence of the bathroom, and her expression morphs into one of heartbroken anger, but you push through. "I'm so sorry, Maria. It was never meant to happen like this, I didn't want—"
You're embarrassed by the sting of hot tears that press behind your eyelids, and you watch her drop her gaze to the ground, fists clenched tightly as she folds her arms across her chest.
"My heart has belonged to him since that first night on the roof, Maria. You have to know that." You plead, stoic in your efforts for her to comprehend how out of control you've felt this whole time. "With everything that we've been through, you have to understand that I didn't choose this. It just... Happened."
Her eyes never leave the ground, folded arms pressing tighter against her chest as she scuffs the toe of her shoe against the floor. "I know." She whispers, and you take a breath, watching her expression.
The dimly lit room is filled with tension, the air heavy with unspoken emotions. You've just ripped the curtains back and bared your soul to Maria, and now the ball remains firmly in her court. Her silence hangs in the room, stifling any hope for reconciliation.
Seconds turn to minutes as you both stand there, locked in a moment of profound uncertainty. Maria's hair falls over her face, obscuring her eyes as she continues to avoid your gaze. Her jaw tightens, and you can almost hear the gears turning in her mind, weighing the years of shared secrets and experiences against this revelation.
Finally, she breaks the silence with a heavy sigh. "I know," Maria repeats, her voice tinged with bitterness and resentment. "I've always known. I'm not an idiot. I see it in the way you look at him, the way you two..." She sighs again, dark eyes boring holes into the linoleum tile below her. Her words are sharp, filled with a sense of betrayal.
You nod, the weight of your confession still bearing down on you. "But I never wanted it to be like this, Maria. I never wanted to hurt you."
Maria finally looks up, her eyes meeting yours with a cold, unyielding glare. "You should have thought about that before you let it happen," she hisses. "I can't believe you would let me... You let me get my heart broken."
You take a step closer to her, reaching out to gently touch her arm, but she pulls away, her expression hardening. "Maria..." Your chest feels wounded, the sharpness in her eyes driving daggers into your heart. "I love you. I always will. But I can't change how I feel about him." Hot tears begin to fill your eyes as you shake your head fervently. "I wish I could."
Those words ring the truest for the both of you, and you both know it. Your shared love for this boy has caused boundless issues, invited danger and darkness into your lives, and yet as the bond between the two of you breaks in front of your eyes, you can share in the same hopeless adoration of the same idiotic man.
Tears well up in Maria's eyes, and this time, she lets them flow freely. "That isn't enough..." she says, her voice trembling with anger. "I need time. I need to figure this out."
You nod, feeling the weight of her disappointment pressing down on you, and she spares you one last cold glance before she swipes the tears from her face and storms out of the bathroom. The future is uncertain, but it seems clear to you now that your friendship has been irreparably damaged.

Petra from Deadly Class headcanon request of her being best friends with a Prep Legacy? I feel like they’d have a fun dynamic
· it’s a friendship grounded in understanding andmutual respect
· you two grew close over your shared animositytowards brandy and the rest of her nazi gang
· after that though you continue to bond over yourshared love of music and your shared traumas
· there are lots of late nights spent just talkingabout anything and everything
· you two feel more comfortable together than youdo with just about anyone else
· she helps you out in your poison studies and youalways watch her back when it comes to the rest of the legacies
· especially around the dance
· being considered an outsider amongst the rest ofthe preps and legacies, but not caring all that much because of how much youcare about petra and the rest of your rat friends
· you two study together in the library a lot
· sometimes billy or lex will join you, which ofcourse means no actual studying gets done on these days
· being the person she goes to for advice, especially about billy
· sleep overs in your dorms spent listening tomusic and just letting some steam off
· you help her out with kitchen duty on busy days
· normally this ends with the kitchen being agiant mess and you two with flour all over
· doing her makeup and letting her do yours
· knowing that no matter what you have eachother’s backs

“Fight’s over.”
You defensively shove one of the monks that roughly pushes you against the lockers, hands balled into fists as they flood the hallway. You had just witnessed Maria and Saya’s altercation, and now the monks were ushering everyone into their rooms, grabbing everyone and pushing them into whatever room is available. You look up in alarm at the scene, and before you can run off, an arm grabs yours, and the hooded figure drags you down the hall before you’re pushed into a room that isn’t even yours. You scowl, trying to rush back out the door, but your body collides with Lex’s as another monk shoves him into the room.
“This is bloody ridiculous!” Lex cries out, banging his fist against the door, and the both of you let out a collective groan as you hear the sound of the door being locked. Whatever’s going on, it looks like the two of you will be stuck together for a while.
“Another student is dead!” you hear Master Lin’s voice declare from the hallway, and you and Lex frown as you turn to look at one another. “And I will find out who’s responsible. You’re all on lockdown until I do.”
“Fuck.” Lex bangs his fist on the door one last time before turning around, flopping down on one of the beds that occupies the room. Based on the Japanese posters that hang from the wall, you’d guess this room belonged to some Kuroki Syndicate members. Throwing his hands up in the air, Lex complains, “We could be in here for bloody forever!”
You sit down on the other bed, folding your arms across your chest as you let out a heavy sigh. “Well, at least we’re stuck in here together. I might end up killing another student if I ended up with Brandy Lynn or any other Dixie Mob member.”
Lex suddenly becomes very aware of the situation, and you raise an eyebrow at him as you notice him become uncharacteristically quiet. He nervously runs a hand through his spiked hair, tugging at his leather jacket before he clears his throat, and bitterly responds, “I’m sure you’d rather be stuck here with other people though, huh?”
Your eyebrows furrow. “What are you talking about?”
Lex shrugs, attempting to appear nonchalant despite his heart pounding wildly in his chest. He’s overthinking this too much, he tells himself, but he can’t quite meet your eyes, worrying he’ll become completely undone if he does. You should be the person he’s most comfortable with, considering the fact that you’ve known each other since you were children. You were there for him when his father got arrested for something he didn’t even do. You were side by side when you made your way to San Francisco, and it was you who insisted that Lex be enrolled in King’s Dominion with you when you were first approached. Lex can’t imagine his life without you, which is one of the many reasons why he’s fallen for you.
Of course, you have no idea. Lex has come so close to telling you his true feelings on multiple occasions, most of them while drunk, but he can never get the words out, can never push himself enough to admit the truth. So he stays quiet, hides his crush behind playful teasing and pranks that you know are a part of his personality. Which makes it all the more suspicious to see him so quiet and unlike himself now.
“Lex, come on,” you snap Lex out of his thoughts, grabbing a pillow from the bed and tossing it at him. He can’t help but smile as you offer him a teasing grin, and he tosses the pillow back at you as you say, “What’s up?”
You get up, walking over to him as you plop down on the bed beside him. Lex tries to ignore how close you’re sitting to him, how your leg brushes up against his ever so slightly, and Lex shrugs, “Dunno, I just figured you’d rather be quarantined with Billy or something.”
You jerk back in surprise. “Billy? Why Billy?”
Lex picks at one of the holes in his ripped jeans. It pains him to think about the incident the other night, during another drunken night on the rooftop with the rest of the Rats and your other friends. One second, Lex was giving you a piggyback ride as the two of you paraded around the roof with loud laughter and wide smiles. Lex had set you down, distracted by a conversation with Petra, and just as he felt ready to tell you how he felt, ready to confess his emotions, he turned around to see you plant a kiss on Billy’s lips. He tried to act nonchalant about it, tried to ignore it, but the scene plays over and over again in his head, a picture he’s unable to erase no matter how hard he tries.
“Well, you kissed him the other night.” Lex reluctantly points out. “You two dating then, eh?”
“Wha…?” confusion washes over your expression, before your eyes widen in realisation. Slapping your hand against your forehead, you stammer an explanation, “Oh God, no, we’re not dating. Jesus, Lex, I was drunk out of my mind, and I was only doing it to help Billy out. We were trying to make Petra jealous. Or did you forget about his ridiculously huge crush on her?”
Lex wrinkles his nose. Out of all the explanations possible, this was surely the one he hadn’t even considered. Waving his hand, Lex blurts, “Hang on a minute, so the kiss meant nothing?”
“Duh. Come on, you know Billy is only my friend, nothing more.” you give Lex a playful shove, and Lex lets out a relieved laugh. Narrowing your eyes at him, you ask, “Why do you care, anyway?”
Lex’s laughter quickly dies down, and he gulps as he nervously looks up to meet your questioning gaze. After several moments of thick silence, he admits, “Well, I mean… it might be because… I have feelings for you.”
Lex sucks in a sharp breath, as if suddenly wishing he could snatch his words back and shove them back into his mouth. He studies your expression, unsure of how to interpret the multitude of emotions that flash through your face, before you blurt, “Same.”
Lex blinks at you, bewildered. “What?”
“I have feelings for you, too.” you confess, and Lex’s eyes widen as you nervously run your hands through your hair. “But I was scared I would fuck things up, and—”
Before you can continue, Lex interrupts you with a kiss, kissing you so enthusiastically you practically fall back against the bed. He pulls away, the both of you breathless as you stare at him in shock, before a wide grin spreads across your face. Not wasting any more time, you pull him towards you as you kiss him again, the both of you pulling your bodies closer to one another as Lex runs his hands through your hair. As you feel him grinning against your lips, the both of you can’t help but have the same thought: that perhaps this lockdown isn’t going to be as bad as you thought.

would you be willing to write a fem!reader dating Petra from Deadly Class, please 💕🙏🏻
If you havent already could you write some dating petra yolga fluffy headcanons ( female reader ) ? 👉🏻👈🏻
hope you like it! 💕
°You might see Petra as the emotionless type, who doesen’t gve adamn about love and coulnd’t care less about relationships. But let me tell you something...you’re wrong.
°Petra wants to be belong and be loved, she craves those things pretty badly. It’s nice to finally have some friends, but she have been longing for a romatic conexion for so long, just to see how it feels...
°That’s why Petra doesn’t waste an opportunity to kss you or show you some affection, howvwer, you have to be cautios with this. You can’t let the others see how much you care about each other.
°but that doesn't mean you don't get handsy, Petra really loves having sex with you it dosen't matter if it's in the bathrooms or in your dorms, but if you're not into that? then kisses it is.
°Petra is a sucker for cheesy things: dates in the graveyard, sneaking to go and get some milkshakes, going to a photobooth and do that typical photo of you two kissing, yeah that one is precious for her.
°she will happily introduct you to goth rock, but she will be open to your music style as well. If you like metal? then she will banging her head beside you, you like punk? well she's used to Lex and Billie listening to that, do you like hip-hop? well, she might get confused on the lyric, but she tries. Damn Petra would even gve it a shot to country music, just for you.
°Petra would throw a chemical bomb to whoever harms you.
°Petra is really sweet and supportive. So is you're in the cheer squad (as much as she hates the majority of them) Petra would cheering you in your private practice.
°She have had a hard time with the death thingy, Petra still have her dads words on her mind "when you watch the life go out of someone's eyes, then you're no longer afraid of death" so if you die near her, well, Petra will be watching you like a hawk.

Girls night headcanons with saya, maria, and petra please!!!
•It was kinda of hard to get Petra to hang out with them, the main reason because Petra despised the legacies thanks to the lots of hatred and bullying she got from them.
•She always act like she didn't give a fuck of what others thought about her, but you can clearly see her insecurities and fears at the way she crosses her arms over her chest and acts so negative about every little detail that María or Saya may chuckle about.
•It's not about one of them brings up a topic Petra likes that she enters in the conversation, gaining a light grin from Saya as María follows the conversation excited.
"I was starting to worry about you!" She said with a smile, making feel Petra more welcomed into your little group.
•Your girl nights consists in sneaking out to go to a club, you know dance until your feet hurt, drink and get high, also just driving down town with loud music, saving enough money to go to the cinema or just staying in some of your dorms until it's too late and you decide to call it a sleepover.
•Petra will slowly but surely introduce you all to her goth bands and style, Maria is not too fond of it, but goth bands are Saya guilty pleasure.
•Gossiping about the school and some of the people there and annoying Petra with the fact that Billy and Lex are heads over heels for her (please don't bring up Marcus, it causes some tension)
•Sometimes you even hang out in the rooftops, playing a stupid board game when you're too tired of trying to get out of King's.
•You sometimes talk about a possible future when you're all alive and living your best life. María brings up her desire to have a family, while Saya rolls her eyes at her claiming that she will be the cool woman who rides her motorcycle till the sun.
•Petra usually stays quiet, but sometimes she says she would like to have a calm life with a partner, far away from San Francisco.
•However, at some point or another, they always end up talking about how their friendship will be evolved in her future lives.

Hi! weird question would you mind slightly crossing over deadly class and titans for a headcanon request please?! i totally get it if you're not! 💙
First of all this isn't by any means weird, you don't know how much I been wanted to do this!! You have won my heart with this one nonnie ily 💖😚
°Before starting this, can you imagine how confused the Deadly Class kids would be if they train with Dick and they do something wrong Dick dosen't try to broke one of their bones or humiliate them.
They would be like "What the fuck is going on???"
°Also I see Billy and Lex making jokes with Dick's name, anyway let's start...
•The night above them was cloudy and cold, it was nice to get out from Kings and just life live like normal people for once, but of course something had to go wrong.
•They were getting hungry so the best idea was to rob a little store and then they will head up to get drunk and high, but a fight with some local thugs thrown the plan in the trash
•When Marcus was about to open an stole beer some weirdos step in the scene, making everyone in the group rise their eyebrows.
"The fuck is wrong with these people?" Billy said puzzled as he hold onto his wounded leg, the blood was dripping down from his pants to the floor.
•Saya watched closely when the dude who appeared to be the leader fully showed up beneath the street lights and Maria was getting ready to fight as she saw the other members of the weird club of strangers.
•Dick noticed what this kids have done to the store, the broken glass, stolen pieces lying around them, besides he was pretty sure some of them were hurt and at the same time that they must have some weapons.
•Kori walked up to him, she didn't say anything, but in her eyes was clearly asking him for instructions. Gar and Rachel were a few steps back, looking with curiosity the whole scene.
•He didn't want to start a fight with them, first because they seemed hurt and two because they were kids, maybe the same age that were Gar and Rachel.
"So are we going to stare at each other or what?" Lex spoke next to Petra. He was growing impatient, this whole thing was getting boring to fast and he just wanted a blunt.
"For God's sake, can you shut up?" Maria snapped at him, swaying her hand to hit Lex head.
Petra rolled her eyes to both of them, shaking her head as she mumbled " This is so stupid..."
•And Dick was right, they were just a bunch of adolescents.
"We can help you..." he offered in a cautious tone, walking up to them slowly.
"Help? We don't need it, thanks." Marcus was the one who spoke, twirling his bat with one hand as he eyed with a frown at weird grea tiger that stood behind the goth girl patiently.
"I think you do." Kori interrupted him." Your friend over there is losing an insanely amount of blood, besides that all of you are bruised and badly injured, if you stay here the most sure thing is that you'll end up in a cell."
•And a long pause fell into the weird conversation, Saya passed her thumb across the fold of her katana; her lips in a thin line as she examined the whole situation.
•The green tiger could attack Billy and maul him, the weird goth girl whose eyes were turned more darker as the time passes was giving her bad vibes, besides the two adults seemed normal, but she knew something was going on on them.
"Uh, Saya, you there?" Maria caught her attention." We should act quickly, I can hear sirens in the distant..."
Saya sighed, looking at the strangers with a done expression. "Okay, we will go with you..."

Headcanons about being a part of the Sotos Vatos ( Chico's female cousin ) and being roomates with Petra ( from enemies to best friends )
Warning: Chico es un pendejo
•Petra was so annoyed and disgusted when she found out you were gonna be her roommate. The way she rolled her eyes was so hard that was a miracle that her eyeballs don't got stuck in her skull.
•She knew she wasn't gonna live alone, but everything was better than have to share a room with a legacy, more knowing that you were Chico's little perfect cousin.
•It was bummer to carry Chico's reputation, you weren't as cruel as him or violent or abusive.
• You were tired of seeing him bully the rats, the class fights and screaming of the weaks made you want to puke, but you had to stay in your lane. Nobody wants problems with El alma del diablo, they didn't have mercy with the traitors...
•Sharing room with Petra was complicated; she doesn't talk much and she looks at you like she's going to stab you. However, you don't fight, it's just a plain cold war between you two.
•Petra doesn't trust you and she has reasons for it. Since she came to King's Dominion the majority of the legacies just molested her and made the life of the rats a living hell, so why would you be different?
•It took her a long time to low her guard and it was after a discussion with Chico.
•You had the courage to speak to him and ask him to stop his abusive behavior towards everyone. He just got mad and slapped you, warning you that if you speak again it will be worse.
•You are his family and he doesn't want to do anything crazy to you, but you were wearing off his patience.
•You looked so pitiful with a throbbing red cheek and glistening eyes. "Maldito hijo de puta, lo odio..." your muttered in front of the mirror as you tried to cover your bruised face.
•The rumors of your fight with Chico were a over the school and seeing you like that just made her feel pity about you.
•Petra sighed as she stood up, maybe she was gonna to regret this, but whatever." That's not going to work," Petra said to you, caughting you off guard. She rolled her eyes at your surprised expression." Don't look at me like that. Take this, if it covers hickeys then it will cover your bruises..."
•It took a while for you to get along, with time Petra's trust issues towards you were disappearing and you couldn't be more glad with that.
•It was nice to have someone like Petra in your life, she seemed gloomy and full of angst, but nevertheless Petra was a great friend.
•You tend to have girl nights were you do the basic things, do each other's nails and makeup as you talk nonsense. But sometimes you like to go to the rooftop and get high.
•Petra will tell you when she thinks something is stupid, she doesn't have a filter with that.
•And she truly hates when people makes fun of you for hanging out with her. She just bottle up her thoughts until it's too late and she takes some ravange on them (with the help of the rats or Billy)
•The other rats aren't that fond of you, they think is weird that Petra, from all of them, could befriend a legacy, but they aren't too judgmental. Marcus brought his legacy friends, so Petra could do the same, right?
•You always speak up for them when the other kids get too rough, even if that means getting your ass beat. The rats now have your back too.

May I have a deadly class match up please? I'm an asexual girl who leans to boys. Yet, shy around them. Sometimes sassy and bold, but with a innocent mindset. I have a huge imagination. Including being obvious. I'm a tan brown girl with dark brown curly hair. A petite figure, 5'6. I have a girly, pastel attire. Wearing a red riding hood coat. I love vintage, jazz songs. I love to draw, paint. My dream is to become an illustrator. Including stuff animals and Grimm brother tales.
OH GOD THIS BLOG IS NOT DEAD!!1!1
But really ask box is open so send something!!
I think you would make a good couple with Billy Bennett
• The fact that you still have an innocent mind in this place is admirable for him , however, sometimes Billy will annoy you for that, but that does not take away the fact that he admire you
• He also likes that you can defend yourself, you know sass the fuck out of others (does that make sense?)
• Billy likes the way you draw
° He is like a soccer mom with this
• Once he offered to be your muse
° He threw himself on the bed and he waited for you to finish drawing him, after that he ran to show it to others
° Petra and Marcus were somewhat tired of hearing him talk about the drawing, but the gesture seemed nice to them (Petra didn't say it out loud though)

Deadly Class One Shot
Pairing: Reader x Lex Miller
Other Characters: Petra Yolga, Billy Bennet, Marcus Lopez Arguello
Warnings: smoking, swearing, alcohol consumption
Request: @jordsie — “My oneshot idea was for a Lex Miller x reader piece where him and the reader have had a bit of a friends with benefits thing going for a while but, when she admits to having real feelings, he freaks out and calls everything off even though he does have some of those feelings himself. Mutual angst ensues, and then eventually (maybe after someone else tries with Y/N?) they get together.”

A/N: i miss deadly class hgnhgnghnggggg which i say like at least once a day. anyway, thank you so so much to @jordsie for donating to Reclaim The Block, you’re amazing! if you would like to request a one shot of your own, please read this post!

Your name: submit What is this?
“And now the party’s officially started!”
You let out a loud groan as Petra rolls her eyes beside you, and the two of you look over your shoulders as you see Lex burst through the door to the rooftop, arms thrown up in the air as Billy and Marcus trail behind him, shaking their heads with teasing smiles on their faces. Lex jokingly wrinkles his nose as his eyes land on you, and Lex asks, “What are you boring lot doing up ’ere?”
“Trying to mentally hype ourselves up to go to Shabnam’s party.” Petra responds through a puff of smoke, and she passes her cigarette to you as you watch Billy sidle up to Petra. He eagerly nods along to what she’s saying as she continues, “I don’t understand why you idiots want to go. Shabnam’s nothing but a try hard.”
“Yeah, ugh, Shabnam.” Billy pulls a face, trying his best to impress Petra. “We hate him. Right?”
You and Marcus can’t help but exchange a knowing glance, and Marcus chuckles as the both of you know that Billy’s crush on Petra is more evident than ever as Petra shoots him a confused look. Shrugging, Marcus gives you a little nudge as he responds, “Whatever. A party’s a party. It’s about time we blow off some steam.”
“And I take it you’re going to be there?” you turn to look at Lex, putting on a nonchalant tone as you raise an eyebrow at him. Lex’s goofy grin creates a smile on your own face, and you try your best to keep a straight face as Lex slings an arm around your shoulders, giving you a little shake.
“Well, of course! I’m not one to miss a party.” Lex responds, pulling you close to him despite your attempts to shove him away. He laughs, and teases, “Come on, don’t be like that, love. I know you want me at that party.”
You pointedly roll your eyes, finally managing to shove his body off yours as you tell him, “Fuck off.”
Lex throws his head back in laughter, and you duck your head, hoping you don’t look as flustered as you feel. You avoid Petra’s suspicious gaze that falls upon you as you hand the cigarette back to her, and you divert your attention to the view from the rooftop. None of your friends are aware of the little arrangement you have with Lex, secretly hooking up in the dead of the night, dragging each other into empty classrooms for desperate kisses. You know you’ve come close to getting caught, but perhaps that’s what you love most about it. The adrenaline and the rush of sneaking around week after week.
But that’s not the only thing you love. You may or may not have feelings for Lex himself, too.
“We gonna get a move on or what?” Lex asks, jostling Petra as she drops her cigarette, putting it out from under her boot. “Come on, lads, let’s go!”
Lex spins on his heel, leading the way as he makes his way off the roof, and you bite back a smile before reaching for Petra’s arm, tugging her along with you as you all make your way to the party.
—
You flop against the couch, taking a sip from your cup as you watch the party unfold before you. There’s a mix of everyone from King’s, Rats and Legacies alike, and you flip off a member of the Dixie Mob as you notice one of them scowling at you. Scoffing into her drink beside you, Petra shakes her head as she mutters under her breath, “Remind me why we’re here again?”
You open your mouth to respond, when you suddenly notice Lex in the corner of the room, lingering in the doorway as your eyes meet. He raises an eyebrow at you, a signal you’ve become all too familiar with, and he nods his head down the hallway of Shabnam’s house before he disappears. You gulp down the rest of your drink, straightening your top as you abruptly get up, and Petra looks up at you with wide eyes as she protests, “Where the hell are you going?”
“Come on, you’re a big girl, you can survive without me for a bit.” you tease, avoiding her question as you notice Billy walking over. Perking up, you beckon for him to come over as you continue, “Here, Billy will keep you company.”
Before Petra can protest, you’ve already darted away, leaving her with Billy as you weave your way through your drunken classmates. You duck into the hallway, tucking your hair behind your ears as you open the first door you come across. You quickly slam the door shut as you see a group of Kuroki Syndicate kids inside, who glare at you as you interrupt whatever discussion they’re having, and you shake your head as you head to the next room.
You peer inside, yelping as you feel a hand reach out to grab yours, and Lex shuts the door behind you before quickly pushing you up against the wall, crashing his lips against yours as you immediately kiss him back. You push his leather jacket off his shoulders as he quickly shrugs it off, and he mumbles, “Kept me waiting long enough, didn’t you, love?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” you feign innocence, pulling away from him so you can smile at him, and Lex chuckles as he shakes his head.
“You’re such a tease,” he replies, before leaning forward to kiss you again, his hands roaming up your body as you stifle a gasp. You can taste the alcohol on his lips, which soon trail away from yours, and he presses kisses to your cheek, your jaw, and down your neck, and you tilt your head up as you run your fingers through his spiked hair.
“Fuck,” you breath out, and you swear you can feel Lex smirking against your skin as his hands pull your hips closer to his body. “I love you.”
The words slip past your tongue so fast you don’t even have time to think about stopping them. For a moment, time seems to stand still, and you feel Lex stiffen as he slowly pulls away, eyebrows furrowing as he asks, “What?”
You gulp, eyes wide as you feel your heart hammering in your chest. “I—”
“Shit.” Lex jerks back away from you, as if your skin is burning against his, and he fumbles to pick his jacket off the ground. “You… you don’t mean that, right?”
You open your mouth, yet no words come out. You can’t even deny it, can’t even pretend for his sake that you’re not in love with him, but you can’t take back the words now. You can’t deny your feelings any longer. You only wish you had been confronted with a different reaction.
“I do.” you finally blurt, and Lex’s face falls. “I… fuck, I do mean it! I… I love you.”
“No, no,” Lex paces through the room, his thoughts jumbling together as he doesn’t even know how to process everything. “This was supposed to be casual, yeah? Why’d you have to go and fuck it up?”
Your breaths become shallow as your vision becomes blurry with tears. Weakly, you try to reason with him, “Lex…”
“I’m leaving.” Lex abruptly interrupts you, pushing past you, and you try to lunge after him.
“Lex, wait!” you desperately try to reach out to grab him, but he slips past your fingers, rushing out the door as you defeatedly watch him run off, not having the energy within you to run after him. Covering your face in your hands, you spin around, falling against the bed inside the room. Tears prickle your eyes as regret and embarrassment washes over you, and you reach for one of the pillows. Burying your face into it, you let out a frustrated scream.
—
Lex drags his feet through the hallway, head hung low as he shuffles back to his room. It’s been weeks since Shabnam’s party, weeks since you confessed to being in love with him, and he’s managed to avoid you since. Despite your overlapping friend groups, he’s managed to pointedly never be left alone with you, no matter how hard you try to talk to him. Figuring that cutting you out of his life completely is the only way to solve the issue, Lex is doing just that.
But the more he thinks about it, the more he realises he doesn’t even know what the issue is. Is that fact that you’re in love with him really a problem? Does he feel the same way about you, despite the fact the two of you initially agreed everything would be casual between the both of you? The questions swarm Lex’s mind to the point where he can barely think straight, and he shakes his head, as if trying to shake the questions out of his head.
He looks up momentarily as he turns the corner, and his eyes go wide as he sees you further down the hallway, shoving books into your locker. He freezes on the spot, and he flinches as you look up and spot him. You blink in shock, but just as you open your mouth to call his name, Lex quickly sprints away, disappearing back where he came from before you can stop him. Your shoulders slump, and you gulp as you slam your locker shut, feeling humiliated and rejected as you try to hold back tears.
“Hey, y/n.” a voice greets you, and you look up to see Marcus approaching you before he leans up against the lockers. He holds up a pack of cigarettes which he digs out from his blazer pocket, and he asks, “Want a smoke?”
You let out a sigh. Perhaps this’ll help you keep your mind off Lex. Nodding at Marcus, you respond, “Let’s go.”
—
You dump your bag on the floor as you and Marcus sit down on the rooftop, soaking in the orange glow of the sunset. You lean forward as Marcus offers you a lighter, and you can feel his eyes on you as he lights your cigarette up for you. You lean away, watching as Marcus lights up his own cigarette, and after a moment of silence, he asks, “So, you and Lex, huh?”
You tense up, and Marcus stifles a laugh at your reaction. “Come on. It was obvious.”
“Whatever.” you roll your eyes. “It’s over, anyway. Whatever it is that we had.”
The words sting you, but you try to ignore the pain, pretending that your heart isn’t splitting inside your chest. Marcus awkwardly rubs the back of his neck, and he quietly responds, “Yeah, I kind of figured.”
“He’s such an asshole.” you suddenly blurt, anger bubbling in your chest. “He doesn’t even have the decency to talk to me.”
Marcus shrugs. “You deserve better.”
It’s only then do you notice how close Marcus is sitting beside you, and you suck in a sharp breath as you slowly look up at him. He’s already looking at you, studying your expression, and your voice barely comes out as a whisper as you say, “Marcus…”
Maybe this isn’t so bad, you try to reason with yourself. Marcus is one of your friends, and maybe this’ll be a good distraction to get Lex off your mind. Marcus leans closer to you, his gaze momentarily falling to your lips before back up to your eyes, and you feel frozen in place before the sound of the rooftop door opening jolts the two of you apart. You both look up, alarmed, as you see Lex standing in the doorway, and you can’t quite decipher the look of hurt and betrayal that mixes in his expression as he sees you and Marcus. Jealousy swirls in his chest, as Lex wants nothing more than you to himself, and he can’t help but feel slightly crazy seeing you with someone else.
“Oi, Marcus. Fuck off, will ya?” Lex finally speaks, and Marcus’ eyebrows furrow as he opens his mouth to protest. He turns to look at you, shrug at him apologetically, and Marcus rolls his eyes as he collects his belongings and walks off, making a point of shoving past Lex’s shoulder as he does so. Lex approaches you, and you defensively fold your arms as you turn to look away, and Lex says, “Aw, come on, y/n.”
“Fuck you, Lex,” you spit, turning to glare at him. “You don’t talk to me for weeks, and now you’re just going to show up and interrupt me while I’m hanging out with other people?”
“Looked like a bit more than a hangout.” Lex points out, raising an eyebrow at you. “Didn’t know Marcus had a thing for you.”
“Well, it’s none of your business, first of all,” you scowl. “And secondly, why do you care? Since you’ve made it pretty clear you want nothing to do with me.”
“It’s not like that.” Lex tries to defend himself, and you let out a loud scoff.
“Are you serious?” you splutter. “I was the one who fucked everything up according to you, remember? Right before you stormed out an—”
Before you can continue, Lex suddenly grabs your face in his hands, kissing you. Despite how badly you want to push him away, you immediately melt into his touch, his touch you’ve been craving ever since the night of the party. You hate how quickly you soften into him, but as he pulls away, you feel as if all the air has been knocked out of you.
“I’m the one who fucked things up, alright?” Lex admits. “I love you too, okay? I was a bloody idiot not to realise it earlier, but I do love you, and I want you.”
You blink, in shock at his words. “Don’t be a tease. Do you really mean all that?”
“Yes.” Lex reaffirms, cupping your face in his hands. “I mean it, y/n.”
Your lips quirk into a smile, and you lean forward to kiss him again. And this time, it’s no longer desperate, but soft, and tender, and loving.

(spotify prompts are not open)
You lean against the wall, shoulder brushing against Petra’s as the two of you look out at the city beneath you. You blow out a puff of smoke from the cigarette you stole from Billy, before handing it to Petra, remarking, “Sorry the dance was shit.”
Petra doesn’t respond, taking the cigarette from you instead, taking a long and quiet drag as her gaze fixes at some point in the distance. The crimson glow of the cigarette burns brightly before quickly fading, and she sighs deeply before exhaling smoke. You can see the faint glitter of her makeup shining on her face, and her expression remains stoic. She should’ve known the Legacies were up to something, but she fell for it, let her guard down and got humiliated as a result.
So here she was, with the people she belonged with, her fellow Rats.
“We won’t let Brandy and her gang get away with this, you know,” you give Petra a nudge, and she finally turns to look at you. Something burns in your eyes, determination, and you continue, “They’re awful, and we’re going to make them pay.”
Petra scoffs slightly, but she feels a swell of gratitude blossom through her chest. Nodding back out towards the city, she bitterly remarks, “I wish I could burn this whole place down. I’d set Brandy’s dress on fire, and every one of those Dixie Mob fucks. And I’d just watch as they all suffocated on the smoke.”
You grin. “I like the sound of that.”
You reach out, slinging an arm around Petra’s shoulders as she holds out the cigarette to you, and you lean forward to take a drag from it whilst the cigarette is still in her fingers. She can’t help but grin upon feeling your lips against her skin, and you remark, “You know, next time if you want to dance, you could bring me.”
Petra raises her eyebrows at you, and you scoff, pretending to be offended. “What? Is Viktor really that much better than me?”
Petra rolls her eyes. “Don’t talk about Viktor.”
“Sorry, sorry, too soon.” you nod in agreement. “But seriously, Petra, ask me next time.”
Petra studies your face, seeing the earnest in your eyes. A grateful smile appears on her lips, and the tender moment of vulnerability is anything unlike she’s ever experienced. Quietly, she says, “Thank you, y/n.”
Before you can respond, Marcus, Lex and Billy jump up behind you, and Lex reaches out to give Petra’s shoulders a little shake as he loudly declares, “Alright, you twats, moping time is over.”
“What are you talking about?” Petra shoves Lex away, her signature scowl appearing on her face, and you grin as all eyes turn to Marcus.
“I have a plan.” he nods at Petra, and you offer her a reassuring smile as she turns to look at you. “We’re going to get back at Brandy.”
