I understand the "you're oppressing yourselves" logic. So maybe I can explain. Think about the warriors of ATLA. They were just as capable fighters as Benders. If a warrior was bested in that series it was usually because the bender was a more accomplished fighter in general. Sokka and Sukki are prime examples. You could almost say the nonbenders have gotten lazy. Benders still have to train hard. By not putting in that same effort towards something, nonbenders kind of are doing it to themselves
The problem with that is, you're implying that every non-bender has to be a fighter in order to live in this world. And that shouldn't be the case. So because a non-bender doesn't know how to hold their own in a fight against a bender... they're lazy?
And I still don't understand why everyone keeps relating this "oppression" thing to only skills in fighting. It's so much more than just fighting skills. They live in a world where benders have better opportunities and advantages than them.

I know you're a mostly Stereck shipper. But you're the only blog I follow that might appreciate this. So, Scott's obsession over Allison is, well, annoying. Especially when he puts her over more important situations that need his attention. BUT, wolves in the wild mate for life. Why shouldn't teen wolves? If you follow that logic then it's perfectly normal that his world is thrown off its axis whenever they're not together. Sorry, I had to tell someone. And your post is what inspired the thought
i think that's an interesting theory.
i'm also of the opinion that werewolves mate for life, but it's not just like BAM SEX NOW WE'RE MATED FOREVER. i feel like the werewolf would have to consciously make the decision and the person they were mating with would also have to be on board with it, otherwise the poor unsuspecting person is kind of stuck for life whether they wanted to be or not.
so werewolves definitely do have some wild wolf mentality, but they're also human too, you know? and some humans have sex for fun, sometimes without any emotional attachment at all. it would really suck for them if their wolf side tried to actually mate with each partner they have.
however, scott's kind of stupid. and he doesn't have the added bonus of growing up as a wolf like derek did, so he most likely genuinely doesn't know anything about werwolf instincts other than HEY I'M GOING TO TRY AND KILL STILES FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME NOW CAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO CONTROL MYSELF. he probably knows nothing about wolf mating. and he is obviously head over heels with allison, so it's entirely possible that he wants to mate with her for life but just doesn't really understand what's going on. that could very well be what's driving him crazy when it comes to allison. he wants this and he doesn't know how to deal with it because he's kind of a shitty werewolf.
now allison, allison is a smart girl who sometimes lets her emotions get the better of her (re: the end of the series before she helps take peter out). throughout most of the series, she doesn't know scott is a werewolf, so she wouldn't be able to consciously consent to mating for life with him, even though i'm more than 75% sure they have boned before they broke up for those few episodes towards the end. but now she does know. does that mean she could get caught up in the ~heat of the moment~ and agree to it without really thinking through what it actually means? idk man, maybe. but i want to give her more credit than that.
SORRY THIS TURNED INTO A NOVEL I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT WEREWOLVES THEY ARE MY FAVOURITE EVER.
