Dog Grooming: Necessity or Luxury?
Dog grooming is an essential aspect of maintaining your furry friend's health and well-being. While some may view it as a luxury, it is, in fact, a necessity for all dogs, regardless of their breed or size.
Importance of Regular Grooming
Grooming your dog regularly helps in preventing various health issues such as matted fur, skin infections, and parasites. It also allows for early detection of any abnormalities like ticks, lumps, or wounds that may require medical attention.
Physical and Emotional Benefits
Besides keeping your dog clean and healthy, grooming sessions provide an opportunity to bond with your pet. It promotes good behavior and reduces anxiety in dogs, especially those who may be uncomfortable with handling or grooming activities.
Professional Grooming vs. DIY
While some dog owners opt for DIY grooming at home, utilizing professional grooming services can offer additional benefits. Professional groomers have the expertise and tools to trim nails, clean ears, and groom your dog according to their specific needs.
Conclusion
In conclusion, dog grooming is not just a luxury reserved for certain breeds or situations. It is a necessary part of responsible pet ownership. Whether you choose to groom your dog at home or enlist the help of professionals, prioritizing your dog's grooming routine is essential for their overall health and happiness.

— && guests may mistake me as ( kristine froseth ), but really i am ( mckinzie ‘kinzie’ stirling + cisfemale + she/her ) and my DOB is ( 01/01/1996 ). i am applying for the ( pet groomer ) position as part of the EHP and would like to live in suite ( #214 ). i should be hired because i am ( + optimistic and forgiving ), but i can also be ( - cynical and uptight ) at times. personally, i like to ( rock climbing, word searches and going for long drives ) when off the clock, but that won’t interfere with work. thank you for your consideration !
henlo !! it’s me, ziggy bee !! and i have brought you a brand new muse of mine. so let’s see how this goes !!
mckinzie   has   lived   in   chicago   her   entire   life.   she   was   born   and   raised   on   the   south   side   of   chicago   but   moved   closer   to   where   the   malnati   is   located   around   when   she   was   21   after   she   got   the   job   as   a   pet   groomer   there.   she’s   been   working   at   the   malnati   for   2   years.
mckinzie   aka   kinzie’s   parents   are   very   laid   back   and   super   chill.   she   never   really   had   any   rules   set   for   her   growing   up,   but   she   used   her   common   sense   and   kept   out   of   trouble   (   for   the   most   part.   )   she   started   drinking   and   smoking   pot   (   but   her   parents   do   too   !!   )   when   she   was   a   young   teenager   after   she   realized   that   it   helped   her   cope   with   her   anxiety   disorder.
when   she   was   around   10   when   her   aunt   and   uncle   passed   away.   their   son   seth   was   left   without   parents   and   so   kinzie’s   parents   brought   him   in   and   adopted   him.   she   treats   him   like   a   sibling   rather   than   a   cousin.   she   is   constantly   pushing   him   (   in   a   good   way   )   to   be   his   best.   the   two   bicker   like   siblings,   no   one   would   expect   them   to   be   cousins.   she   even   introduces   him   as   her   brother.   she’s   very   close   with   her   older   cousin   fleur.   the   two   of   them   are   practically   siblings   and   most   people   think   they   are.
has   a   weird   obsession   with   sea   weed   chips   and   chai   tea.
loves   to   be   outdoors,   doing   things   like   hiking,   rollerblading,   skateboarding,   hanging   out   with   friends.   kinzie   is   a   big   extrovert   and   is   a   tomboy,   she   ain't   afraid   to   play   in   the   mud !!
kinzie   had    a   bunny   when   she   was   11   and   she   accidentally   stepped   on   him   (   don’t   worry,   floppy   was   okay   !!   )   and   a   beta   fish   named   nemo   that   she   forgot   to   feed   and   it   died    and   ever   since   then   has   been   traumatized   of   owning   any   pets.   she   is   fine   just   loving   other   peoples   pets.
she   is   a   huge   daddy's   girl.   mostly   cause   he   spoiled   her   rotten   growing   up.   her   mother   ain't   too   happy   about   that   because   she's   got   an   attitude   problem   thanks   to   that.   if   she   doesn't   get   her   own   way,   good   luck   with   that   spoiled   brat.   her   nickname   from   him   is   dandelion.
she   has   mad   trust   issues   bc   of   her   idiotic   ex-boyfriend   that   cheated   on   her.   their   relationship   was   based   off   of   lies   and   toxicity.   she   was   too   forgiving   and   love   blind   to   see   what   he   truly   was.
of   course   my   baby   is   a   bi-baby   because   love   doesn't   have   a   gender.
growing    up    with    kinsleigh    as    a    birthday    twin    was    probably    her    favorite    thing.    the    two    have    been    best    friends    since    they    came    out    of    the    womb.   they    met    sam    when    they    were    twelve    and    formed    an    elite    best    friend    group    between    the    three.    they're    each    other's    ride-or-die's.
this   is   all   i've   got   on   her   so   far   as   she   is   still   completely   new !!   i'm   sure   she'll   change   as   she   develops   more.

Full Name: Tamsen Sites
Age: 24
Faceclaim: Charlie Rowe
Role: Staff, Pawadise Pet Center
Occupation: groomer
Residence: The Salt Flats
Tumblr media
- Tamsen was born and raised in Quebec.
- Diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 15 going on 16, he went through treatment for two and a half years. It resulted in the loss of a testicle, and later on, getting a prosthetic, this made Tamsen very insecure at the time.
- When he became addicted to prescription drugs during his treatment and after/post-remission. Tam sought out treatment and ended up in rehab for three months; staying clean for two years.
- Tamsen rarely talks about his family, drug abuse or that he ever had cancer to anyone. His family thought of his sickness as a burden; this lead to him distancing himself from them.
- He left Quebec and moved to the states to study business at the University of Chicago. During this time, Tamsen worked at a dog grooming business.
- it wasn’t until after graduating with his business degree that he made the big move to Riviera Estates, nearly spending all of his savings.
- He’s very closed off when it comes to personal life but he is very outgoing, loving and bouncy. It’s hard to get him to shut up half the time, expect him to offer to make you breakfast in the morning after a one night stand, or cookies at 3 AM.
- He is crazy about his dogs and will talk to them/about them as if they’re his kids.
- He came to the island as a way to escape from his old life. Tamsen can be found at the Blue Temptation Night Club, trying his luck at the Seaform Docks, walking his dog at the beach. That is whenever he isn’t at the Pawadise Pet Center.

YASEMIN BAYAR  is 25 years old and born on DECEMBER 25TH. Originally from IZMIR, TURKEY. He/She is identified as a FEMALE and works as a/an DOGGY DAY CARER. He/She is known to be PATIENT, GENTLE, OBEDIENT, but she can also be SHY, QUIET, SCAREDY CAT. Some say he/she looks like HANDE ERCEL. [Kitten, 23, she/her, gmt+1]
Connections:
Austin Frey - Soulmate / “husband”
Yasemin absolutely adores animals. She loves them so much she can’t stop herself from trying to pet every one she meets and sees.
She was a vet assistant in Chicago, but her new story is that she was a dog groomer who had been mostly raised by her grandparents. Part of that story is true though. She was raised by her grandparents because her parents were killed in an accident when she was less than five years old. So she can’t even remember them much, and the woman she considers her mother is her grandmother.
The new story to explain her family though, is that she and her grandparents left Turkey after her parents were jailed for their journalistic work, so they fled to America for a new chance in life.
She is a bit of a caretaker. She loves to cook so she can feed her friends and family, and Austin even comes to work daily with homemade lunches, and rarely the same two days in a row.
She does struggle a lot mentally after what happened in Chicago, which is why sudden loud noises freaks her out, and she gets easily spooked in the dark. It’s why she takes care of dogs in her own home, so she can do a little work, but feel safe as she does.
Fluent in both Turkish and English, she does tend to resort to turkish when frantic as it’s the language her grandmother would speak to her.

Convenient Dog Bath Options for Your Pet
Keeping your furry friend clean is essential for their health and happiness. If you're looking for convenient ways to bathe your dog, there are several options to consider.
1. Portable Pet Tub
A portable pet tub is a convenient option for giving your dog a bath. These tubs are lightweight, easy to set up, and can be used indoors or outdoors. They usually come with drainage holes and a non-slip bottom to ensure your dog's safety during bath time.
2. Waterless Shampoo
Waterless shampoos are a quick and easy way to freshen up your dog's coat between baths. Simply apply the shampoo, massage it into your dog's fur, and towel dry. Waterless shampoos are especially useful for dogs who are afraid of water or during colder months when outdoor baths are not feasible.
3. Grooming Wipes
Grooming wipes are another convenient option for keeping your dog clean and fresh. These pre-moistened wipes are gentle on your dog's skin and can help remove dirt, dander, and odors. They are perfect for quick clean-ups after walks or playtime.
4. Professional Grooming Services
If you prefer to leave the bathing to the professionals, taking your dog to a groomer is a convenient option. Professional groomers have the necessary equipment and expertise to bathe your dog thoroughly while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Whichever option you choose, regular baths are important for maintaining your dog's health and hygiene. Consider your dog's preferences and needs when selecting the most convenient bath option for your beloved pet.
Conclusion
Whether you live in a bustling city or a serene countryside, finding convenient dog bath options for your pet is essential. Explore these options and choose the one that best suits your dog's needs and lifestyle.

Say Hello to House Calls
The post Say Hello to House Calls by Mary Schwager appeared first on Catster. Copying over entire articles infringes on copyright laws. You may not be aware of it, but all of these articles were assigned, contracted and paid for, so they aren't considered public domain. However, we appreciate that you like the article and would love it if you continued sharing just the first paragraph of an article, then linking out to the rest of the piece on Catster.com.
Danielle Rothman’s beloved cat, Petey, has never traveled well. The day her family got him, they had an unexpected kitty extra-cat-ion (or just go with extrication) on their car ride home.
“My mom decided to hold him in her lap,” Danielle says. “But he crawled into the door of the car and got stuck. We had to take the car to the mechanic, and they took the door off to get the cat out.”
They laugh about it now, but they learned their lesson: Petey prefers to stay in one place. So, when he needs vet care, Danielle arranges for a house call.
“This seemed like the kinder approach,” Danielle says. “He’s the classic definition of a scaredy-cat.” And the visiting vet wasn’t fazed by Petey’s aversion to strangers. “My husband had to catch him and put a towel over him to calm him down. The vet put him in the bathroom sink,” Danielle says. “The vet was really knowledgeable, answered all our questions and got down to business.”

A house-call comeback
Mobile pet professionals are a growing trend. The house calls of 2020 are hip, in some cases high tech, and many say that they are affordable.
You can book appointments online or via an app. A medical clinic on wheels offering minor surgeries and X-rays may roll up your driveway. And when it comes to cats, house calls are usually win-win.
“If you have ever taken a cat to the veterinarian, it is noticeable how stressed they are. In their home, the cats are relaxed,” says Dr. Karie Johnson, veterinarian and co-founder of the mobile clinic VIP Vet Visit in the south Chicago suburbs.
Photo: Chalabala | Getty Images
Better for your cat?
House calls could even help keep your feline friend healthier.
“The vet office is a stressful environment that can cause anxiety for a cat, which can weaken their immune system,” Dr. Johnson says.
Veterinarian and owner of Vet At Your Door in the Portland, Maine, area, Dr. Deirdre Frey says she’s seen cats come into animal hospitals so freaked out they’ve vomited or had accidents.
Dr. Frey fears some owners, hoping to avoid that kind of agony, may put off bringing their cat to the vet.
“I do feel like people may forgo either concerning symptoms or vaccines because they’re weighing the stress it would put on the cat,” Dr. Frey says.
And the more relaxed a cat is, the better exam a vet can perform.
Former Army veterinarian Turnera Croom, who now runs Dr. Croom Mobile Veterinary Service in Southwest Michigan, gets resourceful on cat house calls.
“We ask that the owner close off any major hiding places,” she says.
Dr. Croom also uses a cat pheromone spray called Feliway. “It’s supposed to smell like the natural scent of cat contentment, and it does appear to work a lot of the time.”
Dr. Turnera Croom, who runs a mobile vet service, tends to one of her feline patients.
Time to say goodbye
Industry experts say in-home pet euthanasia is in huge demand.
Kelly Meister-Yetter says she was frustrated when her regular vets refused to come to her home to put her cat to sleep. “I didn’t want my cat’s last moments to be ones of fear.”
So she searched online and found a vet offering house calls. “I thanked her profusely, a number of times, for being a mobile vet because putting my beloved cat down in her own home was really important to me,” Kelly says.
Pet professionals on wheels
Vets aren’t the only pet professionals on the move.
Your cat can sit on the couch while Caitlin Isbister from Pet Acupuncture Works in the Boston, Massachusetts area, stops by for a home-treatment session.
“When I’m treating cats, usually, the pet dad or mom will stay with the cat during the treatment,” Caitlin says. “They also keep a hand on them to gently encourage them to sit with the needles.”
And Linda Schmoldt is one brave house-call pro.
If you live in Manhattan, she will come to your place and bathe your cat. Linda’s company, Spiffy Kitty House Call Cat Grooming, isn’t afraid of a challenge.
“Lots of groomers are scared to groom cats,” Linda says. “Cats move so fast and have seriously sharp teeth and claws. They’re beautiful beasties.”
If you’re thinking, “Do cats need to be groomed?” Linda says some breeds need their day of beauty more than others.
“Old cats can get awfully greasy and sad looking,” Linda says. “I restore them to their former glory.
And Persians, no surprise, need at a minimum to be groomed monthly, or you wind up with a knotted weirdo instead of a beauty queen. Siberians and Maine Coons and Ragdolls need help, a lot of help.”
Is in-home care for your cat?
Danielle says she is sold on house calls for Petey. “He is important to us, so we prioritize his care. It was not as expensive as you think,” Danielle says.
